In the Jamesian Republic children are born speaking whatever their parents main language is. Children born to mainly English speaking parents will speak English. The same can be said with children of mainly Spanish speaking parents. Now children from elementary to middle school will speak English Children who don’t speak English will eventually learn to speak it. High School students however can begin take foreign language courses. Most schools offer Spanish, French, German, Italian, Russian, Arabic, Chinese, and Japanese.

While foreign language courses are not required they however would make a perspective student’s resume look good and it would be helpful to their career.

All children in Al-Andalus are taught Arabic when they begin their education at age 4 because it is the official language. Children start learning English by age 11, and by age 13, students are required to study at least one other foreign language, the most common being Spanish and French. In the region of Katalunya, students can opt to take Catalan as a subject by age 7.

Most children are fluent in Lorrani by the time they enter school, and spent most of school learning other languages. Most natural-born citizens are at least trilingual, but usually more. The most common secondary languages are Codexian, Staynish, Copenian, Sandessali, Tolankan, Vestanlese, Alksearian, and Silvedanian, but there are many more taught in schools. Basically If you can name a language, there is someone in Lorrana who speaks it fluently.

NS Stats are sometimes right, but sometimes wrong. TG me if you have questions, but the most important thing to know is that Lorrana is capitalist, even though the stats show otherwise

Portuguese, as it's the official language of the Holy Catholic State. Those aspiring to become priests must also learn Ecclesiastical Latin. Foreign languages aren't taught at all.

Children grow up speaking Lancovian, which is also the main language of instruction throughout schooling, and they will learn both English and Lancovian Sign Language starting in middle school. At some schools a student can substitute English for another foreign language, usually German or another Slavic language.

Austro-Anglic is the official primary language of the Commonwealth, and almost every citizen can speak it at at least a conversational level, including children. Those who don't learn it as their 1° language will typically learn it as a 2° language, and it is a compulsory subject at school from the ages of 4 to 16.

Multilingualism is very common in Australia - more people are at least bilingual than monolingual. Typically, a child will inherit a 2° language (or multiple) from their family, as most Australics are the descendants of (in many cases recent descendants if not the original) immigrants and refugees. The most common languages aside from Austro-Anglic can be seen in our national factbook's demographics section. Almost every foreign language spoken in Australia can be studied through most of a child's education at school, as well as in their commune's community through cultural programs.

Other, rarer, languages that a child may learn are as follows;

Austro-Gaelic is a unique dialect, formed through the synthesis of several Gaelic languages and workers' cantics. It is considered a poetic language, much the same way as Shakespearean Anglic, and whilst it was once the language of the revolutionary worker it is now mostly spoken by artists and academics. A child may develop at least a minimal competence in this language throughout schooling, and may become somewhat conversational should their parents or community be especially inclined towards its use.

Aboriginal languages are typically offered only to those within a group's traditional country, and so knowledge and capability in the over 400 native Australic languages are minimal on a national level outside of the Central Australic Territories. A child may learn to converse in one of these languages if they develop a special interest in indigenous culture and history, or if they belong to or live closely alongside one of the extant aboriginal groups, who are typically the ones who provide advanced education in these languages. Do note that, in New Zealand and the Pacific, native languages (the most common of which being Māori) are more widely spoken than their equivalents in continental Australia.

Ancient and liturgical languages, such as Sanskrit and Latin, are generally first offered as school subjects to students at the age of 15, with most students learning for the purpose of translation rather than competent speech. Religious children are more inclined to develop capacity in such languages - a church, for instance, is far more likely to have the capacity to teach Old Church Slavonnic than most communal schools.

Sign Language is taught by specialists, generally on the communal level, and is of a variety mutually intelligble throughout most of Australia and with its allies. A deaf child, or a child with a deaf relative, will be ensured a capacity in this method of communication, whilst others may elect to learn.

If the school is in Iceland, they learn Icelandic.

However, English is a mandatory subject in Atheara.
The Athearan dialect is mainly learned at ages 12-18.

The Royal Commonwealth has an estimated 120 to 187 languages, with Palmyrian enshrined in the constitution as the national language of the Royal Commonwealth, and one of the two official languages of the Royal Commonwealth alongside English. Palmyrian English is similar to Philippine English, only that it uses British English spelling and vocabulary in place of American English spelling and vocabulary.

A Palmyrion first learns their mother tongue from their household, which could be one of the 120-187 recognised regional languages of the Royal Commonwealth. From nursery, they start learning Palmyrian and English, and continue to do so until they finish the basic education curriculum. Grammar, syntax, and vocabulary are the primary foci of language classes from Nursery to Sixth Grade, which includes language lessons in Palmyrian, English, and their mother tongue. From Seventh Grade up to their last year in college (should they take up higher education), literature and philosophy are the primary foci of language classes.

Language electives also exist starting elementary and, in the basic education curriculum, up to high school, with the most popular languages for electives being Spanish, Russian (in the Ilocano, Cagayan, and Cordilleran Federal Republics), Arabic (in the Islamic Republics of Mindanao and Sultan Osmalik), and Pushanian Marshite. Language courses and classes are also offered up in higher education institutions.

All schools in Mevraq use Teimani (Judeo-Arabic) as their primary language of instruction. Standard Arabic is commonly taught, but only for a year in most cases, as one year is all that is needed for a Mevraqi to be able to function in an Arabic-speaking country. Leaving aside Arabic, the most common secondary languages in Mevraqi schools are English, Russian, Chinese, and Swahili.

In addition, 72% of Mevraqi children attend some form of auxiliary school, separate from the mainstream school system. Some of these schools simply provide tutoring in standard subjects, but many are religious or cultural in nature. Religious auxiliary schools will generally teach the liturgical language in addition to religious studies. As Mevraq is a majority Jewish nation, this language is usually Hebrew, which makes Hebrew the third most commonly studied second language in Mevraq after Standard Arabic and English. Cultural schools focus on preserving Mevraq's cultural minorities, and often focus on language studies. The most common languages taught in cultural schools are Yiddish, Swahili, Marathi, and Balochi.

As a base requirement, all children must be fluent by leaving school (unless they have learning difficulties, in which case, semi-fluent) in 4 languages - German, English, Anskerdanki and Russian, the 4 national languages. However, all of our federal states require at least one or more local/state languages to be learnt. These included Czech, Croatian, Serbian, Italian, etc. So the entire population knows at least 5, with the most being mandated by law at 8. That said, it's not uncommon to see people speaking 9 or even 10.
