Where did your nation name come from? (IC)

Well, the User Control Panel is just english words. Mine kinda is, but it's a corruption of Anz Spacis which was the name of an ancient kingdom which ruled over modern Romania in the roman era.

[Airceltria]

Airceltria comes from an old language that is still taught and spoke of in our nation. The name means "City of Dawn" because in our history and myth it was said that our nation first stared from a city that was founded by the founder who when asking advice from the gods where should the city be made they received a vision where to build the city just as dawn has become visible from the horizon.

So our nation use to be a city state that overtime grow in size but when it became a nation we stuck to calling it by the same name as the city.

[New Vedan]

Me and my friend cody had a game we would play in middle school where we each had our own space empire and would fight over diffrent planets. (I usually won those btw) and my home planet was called Vedan, which is a name I originally ripped off from a old ps2 game.

[Auzkhia]

We're the German Realm, because we're a realm of mostly German speaking and national states, ruled under the Auzkhian Imperial Crown as the federal president.

Auzkhia it self comes from a corruption of an old Germanic word meaning Eastern Territory.

[Thermodolia]

Thermodolia is a English bastardization of Thômthdóla, which means Great Land in Thermodolian. Overtime Thermodolians used the English mispronunciation as the standard for the nation

[Hispania Major]

I RP as the Spanish Empire (Imperio Español), based on the actual historical nation with the same name. In this universe, the House of Habsburg never lost power, and Spain remains a colonial empire spanning multiple continents.

My OOC nation name is Latin for "Great Spain". I chose it because "Spanish Empire" and "Imperio Español" were both already taken.

[Countesia]

Countesia was a deeply fractured land in the first few centuries of its recorded history, split into seven Counties constantly at war with one another led by despotic and decadent Counts. Despite being of the same ethnic backgrounds and celebrating near identical traditions, the Countesian people had no sense of national identity. When Countesia finally unified in the aftermath of a devastating foreign invasion, they came to realise they genuinely had no name for their people let alone for their new kingdom. Countesia was eventually agreed upon as the official title of the new kingdom as it represented the Seven Original Counties as equal, and its residents were henceforth known as Countesians.

[Bolslania]

[Gothgraff and Lilium]

Gothgraff because of the Gothic Aesthetic and Lilium because I like flowers.

[TURTLESHROOM II]

"TurtleShroom" is a pormonteau of "Turtles Mushroom". Translated poorly from Russian, it was the title that Jones Found (TS' national founder) was given when the two non-human Khans (representing both dominant non-human species) abdicated. He was crowned "Khagan of Turtles Mushroom", a position he would quickly abdicate from after the First Constitution was ratified in 1796 AD.

[Darlingtown]

Darlingtown was originally [REDACTED], Texas before SACHI took control of the city's industry (and eventually the city itself with a small army of robots). The only reason it hasn't been flattened by the USA's Rolling Thunder is because of the three crudely slapped together nukes that SACHI is holding onto "for safety reasons".

[The Jamesian Republic]

Our country was named after an explorer named Claude James who explored the modern Jamesian Republic and surrounding areas in the early 1500s so the continent was named Jamesia however he did not discover it. Nathaniel Cromwell did.

[New Bradenia Ghost]

My nations name comes from my former nation, New Bradenia, which was banned due to my stupid decision for my puppet, Communist Bradenia, to post on NSPolandball after NB was prohibited to chat due to spam, which causes both to be banned, but I added Ghost to my name after I came back.

[Shov Scien]

Shov is the shortened form of Shovaan, and Scien is Scien. The name actually came before the concept of the two species. This was originally a tiny nation on a planet I never got around to naming. Tan Kas (one of the Scieni colonies) comes from Il Tan Kas, the continent the nation was on. Sivik, the name of the Scieni homeworld, was the name of a revolutionary leader, and essentially everything else has changed entirely.

[Republica Federal de Catalunya]

It's unknown. There are various theories, like it derives from "land of Castles". But, have been called this way since the XIIth century. And then República Federal comes from our political organization.

[Aikoland]

Aikoland gets its name from the largest of the three main islands that make up its territory, the Isle of Aiko (French: Île d'Aiko), which is itself named after Queen Aiko, who is widely considered to have been the first monarch of what would eventually become the Empire of Aikoland and the founder of the Aikolandais Royal Dynasty in the 6th century AD, although there is no historical evidence to the existence of Queen Aiko and she is widely considered to be a legend by most historians.

[Ticoron]

IC, Ticoron comes from "Tico", our denonym, and "ron", meaning "lands".

The native peoples who lived near where the first settlers arrived referred to the area they lived in as 'gon dur', which literally translates to 'this land'. This term was taken by the settlers to be the actual name for the area and was recorded in English as 'Gondur'. Over time, the spelling would evolve from 'Gondur' to its modern day spelling of 'Gandoor', which was first recorded in 1643.

[New Excalibus]

'Excalibus' was essentially a play on Excalibur. I was going for something Arthurian when I made this nation, but that didn't come to fruition. :/

[Crabaiaia]

Pepe the Great yelled at the god Keanu Reeves, and Reeves fiddled his mouth and Pepe said "Keanu *fiddles* Krabajajaja" while sitting on the chonkiest mountain in the Chonky Basin, when the constitution was ammended, the founding fathers of the nation decided to shorten the phonology of the name from Krabiayeahyeah to just Krabia.

[Balhae Korea]

Balhae Korea is the name of the ancient kingdom in North Korea and Manchuria, which was a Koreanization of the Chinese name of the sea that separates Korea and China: the Bohai.

[Kromi]

Kromi comes from the Greek word, well... “Kromi” meaning colour or the 24th (my favourite number) element, Chromium. I couldn't think of a decent story for that name. So the origin in character is unknown.

[Nevadaia]

The IC Answer to this, is that Nevadaia simply means "Land Of The Nevadans,". The suffix "ia" meaning "Land Of", and the "Nevadans" being the natives.

(The real reason of course, is I play too much Fallout)

[Gadalland and Aspern]

There are six islands in Gadalland and Aspern, and Gadallands come from the North three islands, and the Asperns come from the South three islands. The seventh island,
formerly Precia, was home to the Precians but they were kicked out by a rogue sect of fascist Asperns in 1662 due to increasing nationalism. Since then it has no name. Sertia is the main governing island of the six, which is why the people are called Serts or Sertians.

[Estado Novo Portugues]

I RP as the Holy Catholic State of Portugal, an alternate-history Portugal where dictator António Salazar had a son, who continued his father's authoritarianism mixed in with his own brand of Catholic theocratic nationalism.

But I only came up with that idea in 2018-2019, not when I first made this nation in 2016. Back then, it was more or less a cookie-cutter copy of the actual Portuguese Estado Novo regime, complete with the name. I didn't want to start over with a brand-new nation, so I kept this one OOCly while RPing with a new name.
