Postby Balgariia » Fri Dec 25, 2020 12:09 pm

Greetings and Merry Christmas!
Inspired by a recent survey,I decided to create this "survey" topic,so everybody can share their relation with the following balkan(or having territory on the balkan peninsula) countries.(see the list below)
You can measure them in 0-10 scale, hostile-unfriendly-neutral-friendly-allied scale,or other method preffered by you.

If there are analogues of the following countries and/or other fictional countries, feel free to add them.

List of RL Countries:
    Albania
    Bosnia and Herzegovina
    Bulgaria
    Kosovo
    Montenegro
    North Macedonia
    Croatia
    Greece
    Romania
    Serbia

Of the list provided, the following states are extant:

Albania: Albania is a close ally of the Turkish S.D.R. and as such enjoys amicable relations with Australia.

Bulgaria: Bulgaria eschews internationalism and prefers to focus inwards. Its closest relations are with its neighbours, such as its sister-nation Greece, and it maintains only the nrcessary relations with those outside its local scope, Australia certainly included.

Greece: Greece, like its sister-nation Bulgaria, remains adverse to relations with major powers or blocs. Relations can vary greatly depending on the government at the time.

Montenegro: Montenegro was able to avoid Germanic and Italic influence after the Great War, and remains steadfastly independent to this day, especially after the decline of Russia. Relations are warm but unremarkable.

Romania: Romania never gained its western portion from Hungary, but retains a union with Moldova. Of the non-aligned balkan states, Romania is the most diplomatically open, though relations remain starkly neutral.

Serbia: Serbia exists as a rump state and satellite of the German Confederation by way of Hungary. Whilst Hungary directly annexed Catholic majority territory under its control following the Great War, it reorganised the orthodox territory (sans Montenegro) into Serbia. As such, Serbia is cold towards Australia.

Turkey: Of all the balkan nations, Australia enjoys the most amicable relationship with the Turkish Socialist Democratic Republic. They enjoy a shared revolutionary heritage.

As well as the above states, the following is also present:

Dalmatia: Dalmatia is a multi-ethnic state aligned with the Italic S.D.R. As such, it is also aligned with Australia. Almost the entire Adriatic coastline between Italy and Albania is claimed by Dalmatia, excepting the Montenegrin coastline. Slovenia in its entirety belongs to Dalmatia too. It extends further inland than present day Croatia as well.
January 27° - The 2025 Federal Election season has begun! Initial three-party preferred polls put the I.S.P. ahead at 37%, followed by the Country Party at 34%, then Labor at 29%.

Albania: So irrelevant that no one can really tell you anything outside of compartments in the TS state. Relations slightly cooler because of the greater Islamic control of the country.

Bosnia and Herzegovina: So irrelevant that no one can really tell you anything outside of compartments in the TS state. Relations slightly cooler because of the greater Islamic control in the country.

Bulgaria: At peace. No real relevance. TS Orthodoxy is Old Believer, so they view Bulgarian Orthodoxy with suspicion, though not outright hostility.

Kosovo: Recognized as an independent nation. Right to secede, quietly approved. At peace. No real relevance. TS Orthodoxy is Old Believer, so they view Kosovite Orthodoxy with suspicion, though not outright hostility. Large Islamic presence makes relations slightly cooler.

Montenegro: So irrelevant that no one can really tell you anything outside of compartments in the TS state.

North Macedonia: So irrelevant that no one can really tell you anything outside of compartments in the TS state. Not actually Macedonian, still called Macedonia.

Croatia: At peace. No relevance. TS Orthodoxy is Old Believer, so they view Croatian Orthodoxy with suspicion, though not outright hostility.

Greece: Orthodox TurtleShroomers like them more. At peace. No relevance. Sole legitimate claimant to the Roman Empire.

Romania: So irrelevant that no one can really tell you anything outside of compartments in the TS state.

Serbia: At peace. No real relevance. Red Yugoslavia was a mistake and founded on genocide. White Yugoslavia was okay. TS Orthodoxy is Old Believer, so adherents view Serbian Orthodoxy with suspicion, though not outright hostility.

Slovenia So irrelevant that no one can really tell you anything outside of compartments in the TS state.

Turkey: Turkey is not considered a Balkan nation in TS. TurtleShroomers- especially Orthodox ones -despise Turkey's existence for the destruction of Byzantium and, more relevantly, because of their doctrinal, increasingly suppressive views of Islam as compared to the libertine esotericism of Darussalem, which is in the same Region as TS. Actual relations with Turkey have always been cool, but have worsened significantly since Erdogan took command.

All nations on this list are recognized as legitimate, sovereign, and independent nations, as full members of the international and Nationstates communities. TS has no claims on any of the Balkans, real or imagined, though the most loony of irredentists see TS Orthodoxy as the inheritor of Russia's Fourth Rome.

All in all, with the exception of religious ecumenicalism in Greece amongst the Orthodox believers in TS, nothing in the Balkans matters, or has ever mattered, to TurtleShroom. This is in spite of TurtleShroom's ethnic origins being half Slavic and despite the Old Believer Orthodox Church being the second largest denomination in TS.

My nation is set in an alternate timeline that parallels many real world events, so the following shall provide a snapshot into that particular aspect of my universe.

Albania: 10
Bosnia and Herzegovina: 10; these are two separate countries in my universe
Bulgaria: 3
Kosovo: part of Serbia in my universe
Montenegro: 10
North Macedonia: part of Serbia in my universe
Croatia: 10; divided into Slavonia, Croatia proper, Dalmatia, and Istria (all of them have a rating of 10 with the North American Union in my universe)
Greece: 10
Romania: 3
Serbia: 10
Slovenia: doesn't exist, part of the Union of Bavaria and Austria.
Turkey: 6; still the Ottoman Empire in my universe but effectively restricted to Anatolia for any meaningful direct control.
An alt-America that had a grand bargain struck with London in the 1760s and remained under the British Crown (Turtledove's "The Two Georges"), mixed with some of Sobel's "For Want of a Nail" and a lot of the anthology "Columbia and Britannia," the sci-fi NZ novel "Anno Domini 2000 or Woman's Destiny", and cameos of other alternate histories. “The Rock of the Britannic Commonwealth,” an alliance of Britannic and former colonies as partner-nations in personal union and/or in association.

Tech level: MT+
NS stats: mostly policies
IC/RP name: North American Union (NAU).
IC/RP main supranational IGO: United Britannic Commonwealth of Nations.
NSverse organization member/agreement signatory: CAPINTERN, IFTC, ICDN, ECO, IBA, Amistad.
