Uproar against Authoritarianism (1933 - 1934)
Nation name: The Russian Empire
City/Cities where the protests took place: The protests against the authoritarian measures put in place by President Lyubov Lavrenti Tarasovich, often nicknamed colloquially as the "Alaskan Enabling Acts" as if to compare it to a similar action of heightened autocracy of which Adolf Hitler of the NSDAP had done had occurred throughout the country, as many cities had become affected by both peaceful and violent protesting... From Fortress Aleksandrovich to Val'derts, not to mention the populated Ankoridzh and the capital, Novyy Tsaritsyn... Even Utqiaġvik saw a little protest from opposition, for the citizens of the town deep within the Arctic Circle said a brick had gone flying through the glass of the local Conservative Party representative's house, which at the time such an action had the potential to bring physical damage to said person through the sheer cold.
Date: Though no official end or start can be confirmed, it is said that protest had begun on the night of President Tarasovich's implementation of authoritarian policy, that being the 4th of June, 1933. The protests and civil conflict had simmered to a respectively normal and quiet climate in the early months of 1934, as both a strict implementation of Martial Law by the military of the Russian Empire and the smaller Police Forces and an acceptance for Autocracy of which had been spurred on by a large increase in the standard of living within Alaska due to the policies passed by the Authoritarian control of the Conservative Party of Alaska.
Category of citizens involved: Historians claim that numerous groups had a part in the protests that have now become known as the "Uproar against Authoritarianism". The most numerous came from the largest opposition to the KPA, the Social Democrats of Alaska. However, violent protest of which had caused numerous injuries for both parties opposed to each other and regrettably, many casualties in addition had been spurred on by Socialist and Libertarian blocs of whom had been supported internationally by powers such as the Soviet Union, the Empire of Japan and even the French Republic. Nevertheless, the more conservative and nationalistic people of the country, which had numbered higher than the opposition at the time had either remained neutral or had been actively supportive of President Tarasovich's regime.
Reasons: The major reason for the protests had been the implementation of Authoritarian policy and the solidifying of a Conservative dominated Duma in the control of the country, and repression, of which is argued by Historians with differing opinions to have either been intentional or unintentional of Liberal and Social opinion.
Protest Leaders (if any): Both French Prime Minister Édouard Daladier and President Albert Lebrun had been overtly vocal in criticizing Lyubov Lavrenti Tarasovich's authoritarian reign over the Russian Empire, and had been the key representatives of the Uproar against Authoritarianism movement, both within and outside the country, for with exception for the political candidate of the Social Democratic Party of Alaska there had been little organisation in regards to certain ringleaders... The United Kingdom and it's dominions had remained neutral in the discussion and the United States of America made token critiques against President Tarasovich, though would not dedicate more energy to the such due to the Great Depression, of which had heavily affected the country. Historians now confirm that both interested parties within Japan and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, such as Emperor Hirohito and Joseph Stalin had covertly supported the opposition of President Tarasovich with recognition and discreet transportation of certain unmarked weapons as to be used in civil conflict.
How did the protest go? : On the 4th of June 1933, hours only after President Tarasovich's sudden enactment of large Authoritarian policy which had solidified his, and the Conservatives' control over the country for the foreseeable future, a sudden burst of both peaceful and violent opposition had begun. Most groups and peoples opposed to President Tarasovich had, and continued to peacefully protest against such reforms. The banners and crowds of opposition dominated the streets of Ankoridzh, Novyy Tsaritsyn and Fortress Aleksandrovich for much of the length of the protests. The few, of whom had been Anarchic, Socialist (Including Trotskyist elements of which fled to the Russian Empire amidst Stalin's purges) Stalinist, and hardcore Libertarians had been the main benefactors of causing violence against the current system... The President would have reacted with proportional action against the protests. Counter Propaganda would have been used, alongside the careful manipulation of international news reports within the country as to ideologically stave off the influences of the peaceful protests and the messages of which they had created, whilst the military would enact Martial Law across the country, and soldiers would be dispatched with improvised riot control efforts, such as the use of tear gas and scattered implementation of water hoses and fire extinguishers to fend off violent attack...
On the 18th of December 1933, a certain group of patriotic Russian soldiers had fired upon a crowd of violent protestors, including many who had been trashing and looting the shops, marketplaces and businesses of which had flanked the street perpendicular to the new Kremlin of the Russian Empire with live bullets, which caused two dozen fatalities before the commander had commanded the force to stop immediately... The soldiers involved had been charged with several counts of manslaughter and would have been dishonorably discharged and sent to prisons, a political statement by Tarasovich's government that he would not let the situation cause unneeded bloodshed, a ploy which had worked to a point.
The protests would falter and become less vocal during 1934 for multiple reasons, due to the people's unwillingness to continue to oppose the Martial Law, as to protect themselves, their families and friends from potential persecution. In addition, most had seen the economic growth of the country under President Tarasovich's autocratic rule and justified to themselves that it was a necessary evil to stave off the clutches of the Great Depression, and the reduction of international backing as Novyy Tsaritsyn would be slowly creating ties with Tokyo, covert Soviet operations being discovered and neutralized by the military and France's unwillingness to continue with support, spurred on by their own troubles encountered within their Empire and Metropolitan France.
Public statements of government: President Tarasovich had approached the matter pragmatically, for though he never had made no apologies for the implementation of temporary Authoritarianism within the country, he had only wished to make such a decision out of a viewed necessity, in belief that Democracy would not have allowed recovery of the small Alaskan economy from the clutches of the Great Depression. As such, his government had made a combination of announcements as to discredit the opposition and in addition to compromise and convince them of Tarasovich's viewpoint.
For instance, on the 30th of October 1933, President Lyubov Lavrenti Tarasovich had made a conference, of which he used the violent protests perpetrated by Socialist elements within the country, such as Trotskyism, Stalinism and Traditional Socialism and Marxist-Leninist Belief as a scapegoat to belittle the opposition's cause, commenting that to plunge Alaska into chaos in these trying times (referring to the Great Depression) would only allow Soviet subterfuge to continue unchecked, and push the the Russian Empire to the brink of it's demise.
As for concessions, Tarasovich's regime had convinced for members of the Labour Party to halt their protests against the government by promising for the growth of the Alaskan economy which had already been felt under Tarasovich's regime to be allowed management by LPA representatives to fund welfare projects across the country... Such an action had been masterminded by President Tarasovich, as he had little cause to dislike the in question Welfare Projects of which allowed many Russian citizens to move from tents and shacks across the country into newly built Housing Estates, and to offer jobs to them as to boost the revenue of the country through increased employment.
Царство Аляски, or the Russian Empire lives on in it's old colony, Alaska after the conclusion of the Russian Revolution of 1917. Standing with it's allies against the Moscow Accord of Russia and it's alliance members, nevertheless world tensions dwindle and the people of Alaska grow ever more desensitised with the conservative status quo, and their insistence on clinging to a now redundant past.
