Multiversal Educational Index

Introduction

Greetings to all nations and leaders of the World. In the search for a more detailed and throrough research about education in the multiverse, the government of Norden has, along with a team of specialists, created an series of questions in order to determine the functionality and structural quality of various educational systems. As such, noting the importance of determining something as important as the formation of new young minds, which will lead the future, the government of Norden invites all nations to answer this questionnaire.

Important

This index is made to reflect the reality of "Modern Technology" nations. If your nation has a different tech level, it will still be ranked, but be aware that the result might not reflect the actual situation of your nation in its own tech level - Thoroughly, this is something the government of Norden is working on, and in the future there might be indexes acceptable for other technological levels.

Index Description

In order to rate education fully, the questionnaire is divided into 6 sections (thoroughly, only 4 contribute to the actual result): Basic Information, Formation & Values, Educational Structure, Educational Freedom, Educational Quality and Additional Information. Each question has its own value and the index is measured in quantities between 0 and 100, with 100 being a fully functional educational system and 0 being a completely destroyed/ missing educational system.

Classifications
Very High
(80-100)

Nations in this category have very highly developed educational systems. Not only do students have quality infrastructure and methods of teaching, as they have freedom to express theirselves and are taught how to be real citizens. These educational systems are the best ones for one to study, and have little to no flaws.

High
(65-79.9)

Nations in this category have highly developed educational systems. Students have quality infrastructure and methods of teaching, along with reasonable amount of freedom and civic education, making these educacional systems good. Thoroughly, there are some noticeable flaws, which may be solved easily through reform.

Moderate
(40-64.9)

Nations in this category have moderately developed educational systems. The infrastructure and acquisition of information is acceptable, and there is some freedom and civic education to students. These systems are not exactly bad, but lack several features, which need some medium-long term reform to solve.

Low
(25-39)

Nations in this category have underdeveloped educational systems. The infrastructure and methods of teaching lack quality, and the freedom of students is considered low. Theses systems are not the best to study in, and need lots of reform to become better.

Very Low
(0-24)

Nations in this category have extremely underdeveloped educational systems, if they even exist. Infrastructure is of extremely low quality, and methods of teaching are lacking information and experience. The freedom of students is almost non-existent, and civic values seem to be outright forgotten. These systems are amognst the worst to study in, and reform is almost impossible.

United Socialist States of Norden

Where post-punk is rampant, snow is nearly eternal and disregard for capitalism thrives

A socialist nation struggling (or not so much) in a world where no more nations follow it's ideology. Basically, if this song was a nation.

Section I - Basic Information
The full name of your nation (including pretitle): The Commonwealth of Syndic Australia
The technology level of your nation: Modern Tech (c. 2000s equivalent)
The IC population of your nation: 34.91m
(Optional) The educational subdivisions of your nation's educational system per age: Preschool (3-4), Primary (5-13), Secondary (13-18), Civil Service (18-20), Tertiary (20+, typically 3 years)

Section II - Formation & Values

How many years of training do teachers of your nation undergo for primary education (or equivalent) in your nation? A prospective primary teacher will complete 3 years of tertiary study, including apprenticeship as a student teacher. An additional year of study/training can be done to acquire a certified speciality (e.g. Art, Science).

How many years of training do teachers of your nation undergo for secondary education (or equivalent) in your nation? Depending on the type of teacher, 3-5 years of tertiary study, including apprenticeship as a student teacher.

How many years of training do teachers of your nation undergo for tertiary education (or equivalent) in your nation? Depending on the type of tertiary teacher, 4-6 years of tertiary study, including apprenticeship within the relevant university faculty.

Is the formation of teachers handled carefully in your nation? Yes, the various academic syndicates (~ teachers unions) are rigorous in peer/self review as a meritocratic organ, and every new teacher is effectively apprenticed and vouched for by an existing respected teacher. In addition, the Federal and State governments legislate, in cooperation with the Federal Consolidated Syndicate of Academics, the curriculum and teaching standards.

Is the formation of civic values on students well-handled on your nation? Yes. Civics is one of the mandatory courses throughout much of Primary and Secondary schooling, and ensures that all students have a well-rounded knowledge of government, society, and the law. Civil Service, which follows secondary school, affords graduates the opportunity to work in their community and build important communal bonds (as our civil service is not just military service, with the military being just one of the options). Civisme is a core virtue endowed through our education system.

Is emotional intelligence taught at your nation's schools? Yes. As part of Health courses, which are part of the mandatory curriculum for most of primary and secondary schooling, students are taught how to build and maintain healthy relationships of all sorts, conflict resolution, and other important social skills. All schools are secular and coeducational as to afford students as wide a reference for society as possible to ensure they develop the ability to cooperate civilly with those different to them as well as learn from them and broaden their own sense of self. Civil Service grants graduates the opportunity to further build their communal networks, camaraderie, and espirit de corps whilst broadening their social experience.

Are teachers of your nation educated on the balanced handling of students? Yes. As most teachers themselves had civics as children, and as part of their training is in managing the classroom.

Is there emotional punishment (such as dunce caps or dark rooms) in your nation's schools? If so, how prevalent is it? No such punishment is undertaken.

Is there physical punishment (such as paddling) in your nation's schools? If so, how prevalent is it? No such punishment is taken.

How prevalent is bullying in your nation's schools? Bullying isn't eradicated, but it also isn't something most student will experience seriously due in part to the aforementioned relationship and health education. When it does occur, the response is to get to the root cause.

How prevalent is drug and alcohol use in your nation's schools? Also negligible, most drugs are not available for those under 18, and most understand the risks well enough.

Section III - Educational Structure

Is there public education in your nation? If not or only partially (e.g: only primary education), elaborate. All education is public. All academic institutes are public, and all apprenticeships are undertaken under syndicate-member businesses.

How many teachers per 1,000 citizens are there in your nation?
Enough to ensure that each primary/secondary class has no more than 20 students.

What percentage of your national budget is spent on education? All three levels of government contribute to both academic and apprenticeship funding, so this figure would vary depending on what one counts, but probably a good 1/4.

What is the average spending per student in your nation? Without waking up the beast that is purchasing price parity, suffice to say no student is without.

What is the percentage of schools in your nation that have internet access? All schools have intranet access, which allows one to access the internet equivalent (though it is in its early days)

Do schools in your country meet an acceptable standard of habitability and hygiene? Yes, though few school offer boarding.

Do schools in your country have quality educational material, such as textbooks? Yes.

Do schools in your country use of technology, such as VR, laptops and tablets, in classrooms? None of these three exist (well portable computing is developing), but students have very good access to the latest educational technology.

Do schools in your country offer meals to students? If so, are they public and abiding by an acceptable nutritional value? Yes, yes, and yes.

Are teachers given reasonable remuneration in your nation? This is a syndicalist state, so yes.

Are there parts of your nation that do not have access to formal education? All parts have access, though some regions in the disputed Papua/New Guinea territory are autonomous and thus have their own systems.

Section IV- Educational Freedom

Are school subjects in your nation influenced or altered in order to ideologically influence students? No.

Is there censorship in your nation's schools? No, excepting the censorship of explicit media (gore, erotic sexual content, etc...) which can be unrestricted with parental consent for older secondary students.

Are schools in your nation surveilled by government agents in order to find dissenters? No.

Can teachers in your nation express, in their personal life, dissent against the government? Yes, as long as it is appropriate for the age of the students they are teaching.

Can students in your nation express dissent against the government? Yes.

Can teachers in your nation choose the educational material (such as textbooks) used? The various a academic syndicates will provide a list of textbooks certified to respective syllabuses. This certification is determined by consensus amongst it's members, so if most teachers agree the content is correct and relevant, then it is certified. However, a teacher is free to use any texts in auxillary to the main and certified texts, as one might want to for comparison.

Can teachers in your nation choose their educational methods? Within certain regulations, yes. This is another instance where certain methods will be approved by consensus.

Do teachers in your nation have an labour union (or equivalent)? If so, how much power does it hold? Teachers and other academics belong to their relevant syndicates. Syndicates exist for every profession at the communal level, and consolidate at higher levels (state and federal) into more broadly encompassing syndicates. They fulfil the function of both a union and executive department and are all meritocratic (by consensus). The members of a syndicate will elect their own leaders, staff, and delegates to higher level syndicates, and propose regulation in their area and level, which can be approved or not by the legislature. Syndicates are the executive branch of government and as such are quite powerful. All academic syndicates consolidate at the state level into the State Consolidated Academic Syndicates, and then at the Federal level into the Federal Consolidated Academic Syndicate, who elect a Cabinet Minister of Academic Affairs to sit in the Executive Cabinet under the Prime Minister.

Can students in your nation organize school groups (such as student councils)? If so, how much power do they hold? Membership in school groups is encouraged and all schools have student councils. They have a decent amount of power, and can cooperate with the school authorities in many areas of policy.

Can students in your nation choose their subjects after a certain point? Yes. At secondary level a student can pick their own classes, though Maths and English are mandatory until Year 10, and Health and Civics remain mandatory. At Year 10, a student can also choose to do a part-time apprenticeship instead of optional classes, though they will still have to the two mandatory courses.

Do schools in your country discriminate against certain societal sectors? No. Schools are designed to be cultural/societal melting pots to encourage the development of well adjusted, well informed, and productive adults.

Are teachers in your nation politically impartial? They are entitled to their political opinions; political opinion has no bearing on their employment.

Section V - Educational Quality

What are the expected years of schooling in your nation? Secondary schooling must be completed. Civil Service is also mandatory. The expected years of schooling is 13, 15 counting civil service, with preschool and tertiary study being optional.

The Opetusministeriö independent analysing team has determined the score of the zarnicovian novaian educational system as 91.5, which falls into the category of Very High. The only problems noticed were the absence of quality education in certain regions, along with moderate underfunding for the educational system and a low teacher avaliability.

What are the mean years of schooling in your nation? Slightly under 15/17, as most people do undertake both preschool and tertiary study. Those who have less than the 13/15 year 'minimum' are almost entirely those who immigrated here with preexisting and equivalent education from a shorter system.

The Opetusministeriö independent analysing team has assigned the syndic australian educational system an total score of 97.5, which falls on the category of Very High. The only noticeable problems are a bit of undertraining for tertiary education personnel and a slight under the limit expected years of education.

OOC: Also, suggestions have been noted down. Thanks.

Postby The Disorder » Fri Nov 27, 2020 4:10 am

The Disorder is a pretty advanced FT/FanT nation, so let's see how this goes!

Section I - Basic Information
The full name of your nation (including pretitle):
The Order of Disorder ((Rogue Nation of The Disorder))
The technology level of your nation:
FT/FanT (far-future FTL, far-future magitech, no nanotech or magic-equivelent)
The IC population of your nation:
17,804 Citizens + 496,134 Noncitizens
(Optional) The educational subdivisions of your nation's educational system per age:
- Military (First galactic-year in The Disorder)
- Post-Military (After that)

Section II - Formation & Values

How many years of training do teachers of your nation undergo for primary education (or equivalent) in your nation?
The Disorder has only been around for 12 years, and most of its military tech is newer than that. So this is highly variable.
How many years of training do teachers of your nation undergo for secondary education (or equivalent) in your nation?
Post-military scientists (which double as educators) commonly have hundreds or even thousands of years of cumulative experience, thanks to memory-transfer technology.
How many years of training do teachers of your nation undergo for tertiary education (or equivalent) in your nation?
N/A
Is the formation of teachers handled carefully in your nation?
Not particularly. It is generally expected that those with relevant experience instruct those seeking it.
Is the formation of civic values on students well-handled on your nation?
Yes, but this is largely an afterthought. Disorder recruitment/immigration standards are very stringent, ensuring that only individuals that share the Disorder's motivations and values join. Very little additional civic imprinting is necessary.
Is emotional intelligence taught at your nation's schools?
No. Baseline emotional intelligence is a requirement for entry into The Disorder. People that lack this are not allowed to join.
Are teachers of your nation educated on the balanced handling of students?
No.
Is there emotional punishment (such as dunce caps or dark rooms) in your nation's schools? If so, how prevalent is it?
Not particularly.
Is there physical punishment (such as paddling) in your nation's schools? If so, how prevalent is it?
In extreme cases, but this is incredibly rare.
How prevalent is bullying in your nation's schools?
Practically non-existent.
How prevalent is drug and alcohol use in your nation's schools?
Use of mind-altering substances for recreational or occupational reasons is extremely common.

Section III - Educational Structure

Is there public education in your nation? If not or only partially (e.g: only primary education), elaborate.
Education is highly informal, but publicly available.
How many teachers per 1,000 citizens are there in your nation?
Almost 100% of the Disorder's population is in a position to impart their knowledge to others.
What percentage of your national budget is spent on education?
In an economy with no currency, the resource cost of this falls between 1% and 4%. Depending on how you are counting.
What is the average spending per student in your nation?
Difficult to answer.
What is the percentage of schools in your nation that have internet access?
High-bandwidth telepathy is available to 100% of Disorder citizens.
Do schools in your country meet an acceptable standard of habitability and hygiene?
All public Disorder structures are required to adhere to very high standards of cleanliness.
Do schools in your country have quality educational material, such as textbooks?
Memory cores & scientific data are publicly available.
Do schools in your country use of technology, such as VR, laptops and tablets, in classrooms?
Yes, to an extreme extent. Abundant supercomputer access is considered an essential service, as essential as oxygen and water.
Do schools in your country offer meals to students? If so, are they public and abiding by an acceptable nutritional value?
Yes, all Disorder citizens enjoy very high-quality food.
Are teachers given reasonable remuneration in your nation?
The Disorder has no centralized currency. It is generally encouraged that one trade knowledge for knowledge, to maximize the diversity of skillsets within the Disorder.
Are there parts of your nation that do not have access to formal education?
Yes. Disorder non-citizens (in slave-camps) experience none of these benefits.

Section IV- Educational Freedom

Are school subjects in your nation influenced or altered in order to ideologically influence students?
No. The Disorder believes
Is there censorship in your nation's schools?
Yes. Though exceptionally rare, some subjects are deemed too catastrophically dangerous for mass education. This has happened once only, with primordial entropic magic.
Are schools in your nation surveilled by government agents in order to find dissenters?
No.
Can teachers in your nation express, in their personal life, dissent against the government?
Yes. Although because citizens are hand-picked to be congruent with the Disorder's agenda, it is very rare for one to experience more than mild & fleeting dissatisfaction.
Can students in your nation express dissent against the government?
Yes. Although this is also rare. Those likely to dissent against the Disorder are not admitted entry to the Disorder.
Can teachers in your nation choose the educational material (such as textbooks) used?
Yes.
Can teachers in your nation choose their educational methods?
Yes. The system is largely self-correcting. Teachers with methods deemed 'deficient' experience fewer people coming to them & seeking knowledge, which is viewed in society as somewhat shameful. Individuals seek to avoid acquiring such a reputation, so the methods that are the most successful and desirable see widespread use.
Do teachers in your nation have an labour union (or equivalent)? If so, how much power does it hold?
They do not.
Can students in your nation organize school groups (such as student councils)? If so, how much power do they hold?
Yes. Groups of new military recruits frequently organize fleet operations, just for practice. Outside of military training, groups of scientists in training often produce valuable insights and breakthroughs.
Can students in your nation choose their subjects after a certain point?
Yes, immediately upon entering the Disorder.
Do schools in your country discriminate against certain societal sectors?
Yes. Noncitizen (slave) populations are allowed to be instructed only approved topics.
Are teachers in your nation politically impartial?
No. They all have their own slight biases. Which is fine.

Section V - Educational Quality

What are the expected years of schooling in your nation?
It is regularly assumed that if someone believes they know everything, they are delusional. No one is ever truly 'finished' learning.
What are the mean years of schooling in your nation?
The Disorder has been in existence for 12 years. An average would not mean much.
What is the percentage of students in your nation who abandon education before the expected years of schooling?
Extremely small, <1%.
Are there extracurricular activities in your nation's schools? If so, are they widely acessible for all?
Sort of. Most everything the Disorder does can be thought of as an extracirricular activity.
Are school subjects in your nation taught in a way students find it useful?
Yes, extremely so. The best way to learn how to dock spaceships is to fly spaceships and dock them to each other. Such hands-on learning is very common within the Disorder.
Is formal education, to a certain point, mandatory in your nation?
1 galactic year of military service is required upon joining the Disorder. This mostly serves the imperative of military preparedness, so that everyone knows how to fly a warship, drive a hovertank, shoot a plasma cannon, and spot targets for airstrikes and orbital strikes. Core compentency with military technology also helps scientists develop better weapons.
What is the percentage of citizens in your nation that has access to primary education?
100%
What is the percentage of citizens in your nation that has access to secondary education?
100%
What is the percentage of citizens in your nation that has access to tertiary education?
N/A, no third stage of education exists.
What is the percentage of citizens in your nation literate in at least one language?
This is close to 100%, but there are probably a few random berserkers in the Disorder who never needed to pick up the skills to read or write, and now use memory-exchange technology.

(Optional) VI - Additional Information
(NOTE: This section is optional and serves only to collect more data about your nation. The questions here will not affect your final score).

What percentage of your nation's schools are public?
Almost 100%. It is very rare (and actively discouraged) to hide scientific information, though it is not quite expressly forbidden.
Do schools in your nation have an standardized test?
In some cases. In military training, when you're guiding a missile down from orbit, it's generally expected that you blow up your target.
Do schools in your nation follow a centralised curriculum?
The military has a loose assortment of guidelines that they consider 'core competency'.
Do you have any future suggestions for this index?
IDK, it seems pretty good. The Disorder is a very weird edge-case, and I feel like I described their extremely weird system of education okay. There wasn't a great place to go into detail about how memories are stored and uploaded, or a compare-and-contrast of why hands-on learning isn't a substitute for having someone else's knowledge and memories copy-pasted into your brain. It's also worth noting that all students are adult students. Children do not exist anywhere in the Disorder - population growth other than immigration/recruitment is banned.
Are you satisfied with this index?
Yes, I had fun with it! Mission accomplished!

A secular destruction-cult, a rogue nation of space nomads, militarized mad scientists & anarchists.

NS Stats for The Disorder are not IC. These are.
A 4.333 civilization, according to this index.

The quarvian educational system has been assigned a total score of 77 by the Opetusministeriö independent analysis team, which falls under the High category. We consider the formation of values and infrastructure to be of top quality, whilst the biggest problem of the quarvian system is an overall lack of freedom in its classrooms and the extremely low percentage of citizens with access to tertiary education.

The Disorder wrote:The Disorder is a pretty advanced FT/FanT nation, so let's see how this goes!

Yes. Noncitizen (slave) populations are allowed to be instructed only approved topics.
Are teachers in your nation politically impartial?
No. They all have their own slight biases. Which is fine.

Section V - Educational Quality

The Disorder's educational system has received an overall score of 75.5, falling in the category of High, as stated by the Opetusministeriö independent analysis team. We have determined the structural quality and the formation of values of your system to be of good quality. Thoroughly, some aspects, such as the inexistence of a teratiary education institution and the lack of freedom, along with the exclusion of the so-called "Non-citizens" (which compose the majority of the population) are quite worrying.

The independent analysis team of the Opetusministeriö has assigned the educational system of Destyntine the score of 91.5, which falls under the very High category. Do you have any future suggestions for this index?

Section II - Formation & Values

How many years of training do teachers of your nation undergo for primary education (or equivalent) in your nation? 5 years.
How many years of training do teachers of your nation undergo for secondary education (or equivalent) in your nation? 6 years.

Section III - Educational Structure

Since Lillorainen's geography is currently being overhauled a 'tiny' bit, most information on it posted before December 12, 2018, is not entirely reliable anymore. Until there's a new, proper factfile, everything you might need to know can be found here. Thank you. #RetconOfDoom (Very late update, 2020/08/30 - it's still going on ...)

Silvedania, the majestic nation.
NS Stats are mostly accurate except for a few things, like this nation is capitalist and the death penalty isn't in effect

News:All trade with Crabaiaia and Pikala has stopped as diplomats meet in Trenaka. Silvedanians are confused by Quentin Tarantulatino's new film, Seasonal Snackbox(This is a Bojack Horseman reference.) Weird song goes viral for making no sense.

Section III - Educational Structure

Is there public education in your nation? If not or only partially (e.g: only primary education), elaborate. Yes, and education is publicly-funded from Primary through Advanced School, although Advanced School has some minor fees which helps out the local government's budget.
How many teachers per 1,000 citizens are there in your nation? 19.8 per 1,000.
What percentage of your national budget is spent on education? 18.2%
What is the average spending per student in your nation? $11,182 per student.
What is the percentage of schools in your nation that have internet access? 100%. Pycos is a planet that prides itself on functioning like an interconnected network. "High-speed" lines are built into the very groundwork of our cities, so internet usage is considered a right.

Section IV- Educational Freedom

Do teachers in your nation have an labour union (or equivalent)? If so, how much power does it hold? The All-Pycos Organization of Educators exists, and all teachers are members of it. While many rights for workers are guaranteed already, the APOE can petition the government over unfair treatment, and can go on strike.
Can students in your nation organize school groups (such as student councils)? If so, how much power do they hold? The largest student organizations per school are school clubs. After a club reaches a few certain requirements, a club can register themselves as official. They can be granted funding for projects, and participate in school-wide or even local events.
Can students in your nation choose their subjects after a certain point? By Intermediate School, students can choose one elective class per quarter. By Secondary School, students can choose any class they want, as long as the required class credits for graduation are fulfilled by Final year. Advanced Schools funcion the same way that a university does, where students are free to choose classes they want to take.
Do schools in your country discriminate against certain societal sectors? No.

What are the mean years of schooling in your nation?13.3
