A nation of snow, frost, and unusually conservative politics.
Early January 2023 — Newly inaugurated President Vincent van Loodefrijk has received backlash over his criticism of anti-Jewish commentary among Frostish politicians. On his first day in office, the Pluricontinental Congress has already proposed a motion of no confidence against the President. Loodefrijk has refused to pardon far-right politicians imprisoned under the previous government, insisting on maintaining the integrity of moral spirit.

What is the approximate ethnic makeup of your nation? (in percentages) It is extremely hard to approximate due to the relative new-ness of Lanoraie (Lanoraie is only 270 years old), and every citizen has wildly different makeup, so instead we will go by the percentage of the first founders of the nation: 12% Italian, 8% Portuguese, 4% Spanish, 5% Finnish, 14% Japanese, 6% Korean, 3% Kenyan, 4% French, 2% Icelandic, 3% Lebanese, 6% Norwegian, 2% British-African, 2% Madagascan, 3% Moroccan, 8% Dutch, 8% French, 3% Russian, 5% Mongolian, and 2% Maori.

Well, extremely roughly I'd say it's a hodge podge of Japanese, Dutch, Italian, and broadly Nordic cultures slammed together, with lots of extra spice and influence from other cultures. But it's really really difficult to antiquate because the entire point is Lanoraie is its own unique mash of a BUNCH of different cultures. To say it's just like Japanese, Dutch, and Italian removes a massive amount of nuance and probably gives people the wrong idea. The culture is very different and draws from many different aspects. It's a collectivist society, but there's tons of individualist ideology embedded within it, and the culture is warm and friendly like Iberian Peninsula cultures are stereotyped to be, but the people also heavily value respect and tidiness like east Asian cultures.

END
Are you satisfied with this index? Yes
Any suggestions or comments on how to improve? None
Recovering alt-righter. Socialist. If you can't accurately describe socialist rhetoric and ideology, you don't get to have a voice in political discussions.

Your nation's full name (including pretitle) The United States of Amaurita
Your nation's current year 2289
Your nation's IC population 16,908,000,000
Conformation - Is your nation MT? No.
Would you like to receive a TG updating you when your nation has been scored? Sure why not lol.

Section One - Health and Healthcare:
Does your government provide universal healthcare? If not, please give details. No. The United States utilizes a healthcare system akin to the Swiss Model. Amauritan residents are required to purchase basic health insurance, which covers a range of treatments detailed in the Amauritan Federal Law on Health Insurance. It is therefore the same throughout the country and avoids double standards in healthcare. Insurers are required to offer this basic insurance to everyone, regardless of age or medical condition. They are not allowed to make a profit off this basic insurance but can on supplemental plans. The insured person pays the insurance premium for the basic plan. If a premium is too high compared to the person's income, the government gives the insured person a cash subsidy to help pay for the premium. The universal compulsory coverage provides for treatment in case of illness or accident (unless another accident insurance provides the cover) and pregnancy.

Health insurance covers the costs of medical treatment and hospitalization of the insured, which includes regular physician visits, specialist visits, prescription medications, dental care, and eye care. However, the insured person pays part of the cost of treatment. This is done by through an annual deductible, the cost of which is built into the premium, and is set at 400 UST for an Adult and 100 UST for a child.

In 2288, the average monthly compulsory basic health insurance premiums (with accident insurance) in Amaurita are the following:
  • 200 UST for an Adult (age 19+)
  • 75 UST for a child (age 0–18)
So for a family of five, the average annual premium would accumulate to approximately 7,500 UST. Additional plans add an average of 2,500 UST per family of five, totaling 10,000 UST annually. If a resident falls into one of the below categories, either the Federal, State, or Local government will cover the costs associated with the basic insurance plans:
  • If the resident is 80 years or older (Federal)
  • If the resident has some form of disability that prevents them from working. (Federal and State, Shared)
  • If the resident's family makes below 60,000 UST per year (Federal)*
  • The resident is currently active in the United States Armed Forces (Federal)
  • The resident is a veteran of the United States Armed Forces (Federal)
  • The resident is a current or retired member of a Police or Fire Department (State or Local, depending on the agency).
*Certain States (ALD, JER, KAL, MAS, et cetera) have higher thresholds, in which case the State will cover the difference.

Does your country have a current plan to reduce drug and alcohol abuse? If so, please give details. No.
Do your citizens have access to mental health care of an internationally adequate standard? Formal, professional mental health services are extremely limited, and patients must travel to Alauna to access them.
Are your citizens able to partake in experimental treatments for diseases? There is no 'experimental medicine' in Shalotte. All modern procedures, equipment, and treatments are imported.
Does your nation have access to cures or advanced treatments for cancer? Basic cancer treatments are available at Alauna Hospital, though supplies are often an issue.
What is the rate of HIV/AIDS prevalence in your nation? (%) <1%. Migration (particularly immigration) is extremely uncommon, there is no tourism industry to speak of, and international trade is negligible, so Shalotte is typically insulated from global health pandemics.
What percentage of your nation's citizens are unable to access healthcare for any reason? Depending on the definition of 'unable', somewhere around 15% find it impractical to access healthcare due to living in more remote areas of the isles (this is one reason the Gaeltyn invested in a helicopter several years ago). Transportation infrastructure is largely non-existent outside of large settlements.

Section Two - The Economy:
Please use NSD. $1NSD = $1USD
What is the average per-person income before tax in your nation? ~$300
What is the average per-person income after tax in your nation? ~$250 (only urban citizens in the largest settlements pay income tax, however)
What is your nation's GDP-per capita (last full financial year)? $450.65
What percentage of your nation's citizens are classified as unemployed? <1%
What percentage of your nation's citizens are in the workforce? ~65%
What percentage of your nation's adult citizens are homeowners? ~40%

What percentage of your nation's citizens live below the international poverty line? 95%
One of your nation's standard unit of currency = how many $USD/NSD? The international community does not typically include Shalotte barter rings on the currency exchange - attempts at valuing the currency have been unfavourable and variable, with some pegging it at 222 rings to a single dollar, and others suggesting a much higher rate of 3,000 rings to a dollar.
Does your nation require its citizens to file individual tax returns, or is this handled automatically? In large settlements, citizens must file their taxes individually. Citizens outside the major settlements do not pay tax in the usual sense of the term.

Section Three - Education:
Does your government provide universal education to children? If not, please give details. There is no legal requirement for children to attend school. Education is entirely the responsibility of the parents, who will usually elect to teach their children themselves, or have extended family or members of the draér spiritual leaders do so on their behalf. Some towns and villages have communal schools led by draér, designed to ease the burden on busy parents, but these are not government institutions, but rather agreements made between local families. Government-sponsored education does exist in the three main settlements of Alauna, Hadarin, and Feldear, but it is rare for parents outside of these three towns (and not hugely common within them, for that matter) to enrol their children in them.
What percentage of your nation's government budget is spent on education? <10%
What is the average expected years of schooling per student in your nation (including university)? 4 - 6 years
Does your country have a current plan to reduce bullying in schools? If so, please give details. N/A

Do your country's schools meet an internationally acceptable standard in regards to cleanliness and habitability? In the main settlements, yes.
Are your students able to travel overseas on foreign exchange programmes? If enrolled in a foreign-funded programme, yes. Shalotte operates no such programme itself.
What percentage of your nation's students leave school before completing the standard expected period of schooling? N/A
What percentage of your nation's citizens are literate in at least one national language? <35%
What percentage of your nation's citizens are unable to access education for any reason? Unknown

Section Four - Crime and Punishment:
What percentage of your nation's citizens have been the victims of crime in the past year? <5%
Does your nation use the death penalty? If so, what crimes are eligible for use of the sentence? No
Does your nation maintain a police force which can be trusted to uphold the law? No. The Domnaeni's (Shalotte's monarch) Executors can be called upon to serve as investigators in serious crimes, however.
Does your nation's judiciary system maintain independence from the government? Shalotte's 'judiciary' is informal, and largely organised by local Draér and their communities when needed. Only in particularly serious crimes are the monarch's Executors dispatched to advise.
Does your nation give financial compensation to those wrongly imprisoned? No
Does your nation operate trial by jury (barring exceptions such as complex financial crime)? Yes
Are incarcerated individuals given access to educational opportunities? No
What is your nation's murder rate per 100,000 people? Murder is an extremely rare crime in Shalotte. No formal statistics exist, but there are fewer than five murders per year.
What is your nation's rate of incarceration per 100,000 people? Shalotte maintains a single prison capable of holding upwards of two dozen people at a time. Fines, community service, or - for severe cases - exile are used generally.
What is your nation's rate of prisoner reoffending? (%) Unknown. No formal statistics exist.

Section Five - Technology:
What percentage of your population has access to the Internet at home? <5%. Shalotte is served by a single Internet connection, used primarily by Gaeltyn employees and Alauna Library.
What percentage of your nation's citizens have access to television in their household? <1%. Some wealthy individuals in Alauna own televisions as 'hobbyists', but they are not widely available and there is no broadcast network.
What percentage of your nation's schools have Internet access? 0%. Students are free to travel to the Library to use the public connection there.
What percentage of your nation's citizens have access to an Online Banking platform? 0%
What percentage of your nation's area is covered by mobile phone service? 0%
Is technological literacy taught in your nation's schools? No.
What is the average household Internet speed in your nation? (Download Only) The single, government-owned Internet connection achieves a download speed of roughly 10mbps. This is shared between two premises, however.
Are citizens able to contact the Government via the Internet? The government has a public email address; as public access is only available at Alauna Library, however (which neighbours the Gaeltyn Building), it is rarely used.
Are citizens able to perform societal functions such as paying their taxes online? No
Are next-generation services such as 5G and Gigabit fibre available in your nation? No

(OPTIONAL) - More information
We would appreciate filling in as much of this information as possible. However, this is not required to receive a complete score, and filling this information out will not change your score in any way.
What is the approximate ethnic makeup of your nation? (in percentages) Due to its historical isolation, Shalotte is extremely homogenous. No statistics exist, but there are no significant ethnic groups besides Shalottes themselves.
How many official languages are there in your nation? What are these? Hebrédan is the official language of Shalotte. There are numerous dialects, particularly in remote places like the Isles de'Raena, though they are all mutually intelligible.
What is the political position of your nation's ruling Government? The Gaeltyn does not subscribe rigidly to a particular ideology. It could best be described as socially liberal, but fiscally conservative - the latter being more due to the absence of income than any position. It is more reactive than most national governments.
What type of Government does your country have? The Gaeltyn is a unicameral 'community council', with loosely-defined powers devolved to it from the Domnaeni. The Domnaeni of Shalotte is the nation's hereditary monarch, who in theory retains full executive powers, but in practice has devolved many of her powers over successive generations to the Gaeltyn, which is said to govern "in trust".
How many members of your nation's national assembly/legislature are there? The Gaeltyn consists of 20 elected Tyrrns, each representing a significant settlement of Shalotte and its surrounding area.
(OOC) Which real life nation would you describe yours as being most similar to?
