Most Welcomed Recipients,
His Majesty the Grand Prince and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have officially declared the Royal Embassy Program active in the nation's efforts to foster more connections with the rest of the world. Cordialness has always been a priority concerning international matters. It allows us to be introduced to unique peoples and cultures with a pleasant colloquy without a single drop of blood to accompany it. With this notion, the nation believes that it is better to treat others with the respect they deserve, no matter their differences
Pergamon is a nation that traces its origins to Archaic Greece, a long history to admire and revel in. And with this program, Pergamon hopes to become more connected with nations of the world seeking to initiate diplomatic relations with us, and learn from our history and culture.
We welcome you to our nation with open arms, and we look forward to further international cooperation.Signed,
Tilemachos Antonias, Minister of Foreign Affairs
With Royal Assent,
His Orthodox Majesty Grand Prince Michael Antiochus III
GENERAL INFORMATION
NATIONAL HISTORY
The Grand Principality of Pergamon is a nation located on the western side of Anatolia facing the Aegean Sea. It has a rich history, beautiful landscapes, unique culture and a developed economy. Its government is a unitary semi-constitutional monarchy, with a Grand Prince(ss) as its head of state and a Prime Minister its head of government, the former holding significant executive power.
Pergamon's history stretches all the way back to the era of Archaic Greece. The ruins of which we call Old Pergamon was colonized on Anatolia since the late 8th century BC. Eventually, it was conquered by the Persians, before Alexander the Great came by and integrated it into his Empire. After his death, the city fell under Antigonid rule, and then under the Seleucids. However, as the latter was experiencing internal struggles throughout their Empire, the Attalids came to assert their power and render the city independent. Pergamon became a kingdom that conquered much of Western Anatolia, before it was subjugated by the Antigonids and Seleucids once more before eventually becoming a separate kingdom again when Christianity propagated. It then reunited with Macedon to form a thalassocratic kingdom that lasted for one thousand years with Orthodox Christianity becoming the main religion and faith. After years of Muslim rule, Pergamon fell to the Greco-Serbian Empire and lived under its rule for 110 years. After the Empire's dissolution in 1920, Pergamon became an independent nation, with the Cosmidic dynasty, a family of descendants of the ancient Seleucid dynasty, ruling as Grand Princes.
The current population is approximately 11 million and growing. The official language is Pergamonic Greek, but the rights of non-Greek citizens to speak their own mother tongue is respected.
CITIES
Pergamon (Πέργαμος)
Known by its other names "Pergamon City" and "the Capital." As per the latter, Pergamon is the capital city of the Grand Principality as well as the nation's largest urban settlement. It is a bustling metropolis built to the west of the ancient ruins of Old Pergamon. Pergamon is also the financial capital of the nation, with international banking comprising a major part of the economy. Residing under a Mediterranean climate, it is one of the idyllic places for tourists and vacationers to come by and relax. It is also known to possess estates belonging to prominent millionaires and billionaires from all over the world, adding to its leisurely reputation. Additionally, Pergamon's nightlife is also distinctively lively, with nightclubs placed all over.
Salasina (Σαλασίνα)
Salasina is another city not far off from the Capital. A simple ferry ride would get you to the latter within 26 minutes. It is the second largest city in the nation, and is known for boasting the largest non-Greek immigrant population as it is a top destination for them, with Pergamon being placed second. This serves as an alternative choice for any foreign emissary wishing to establish a residence here. Salasina is also known for its high-tech industry, with a number of prominent tech companies being established there, such as PSM and Chazenako.
Kastorissa (Καστόρισσα)
If you are looking for an ideal town for a vacation aside from the urban environment of Pergamon, then Kastorissa is the right place for you. The city is known as a resort destination, a designation that is shared with Mytilene on nearby Lesbos. It boasts resort architecture that blends both classical and modern styles beautifully, clean beaches to unwind from hard work, alluring land environment, and pristine blue waters from the Aegean Sea. A famous tourist spot is Palamaras Town, comprised of buildings constructed during the Pergamonic Empire in the Middle Ages. Musical events can be held here, and the beaches provide the perfect location for participants to express their fun.
Ampeloclion (Αμπελοκιών)
Ampeloclion is currently the fourth largest city, but its population is steadily growing, soon overtaking Kastorissa. This city serves as the financial center of the Middle Pergamon Region, with branches of prominent banks establishing their residence there. Although its tech industry is not as noteworthy as Salasina's, it is also growing and gaining recognition; startup companies dominate its scene alongside offices of established companies such as Geradeia Semiconductors and the aforementioned Salasina corporate entities. Ampeloclion is also known for hosting the largest gaming and livestreamer conventions, namely BlitzCon and TelephCon. Ampeloclion is also known for initiating the nation's first smart city initiative, named and stylized as "smart-ampeloclion." The city plans to become the first sustainably developed urban settlement that would serve as an example to other cities.
Egassos (Εγασσος)
Located on the hills and mountains of Erynas, Egassos is known as the wine capital of Pergamon, and it is a reputation that is carried from its nearby ancient predecessor Seleucia-in-Phyrgia. Vineyards fill the countryside, with notable owners being the Five Wine Company, Neos Dionysus Winery, Château Tasos Vascopolou, Michaelakis Vineyards and the Estate Magenta Stalini-Giakoumakis. Alongside its counterparts, Egassos is a fine place for holding weddings, and famous weddings have taken place there, such as the marriage between Prince Stéfanos and Efrosyni Theodora.
