I came up with this on V-J Day. How did your country participate in WW2?

Volunteers, victory and tears. Volunteers represents the 390 men who fought on the Eastern and Western Fronts. Victory represents the battle of Cleurpedak, which was a significant victory for the Soviets in Greatdux. Tears represents the short membership of Greatdux in the Axis, and the bombing of every major city in the war. These three words together defines Greatdux’s participation in the War.

Langenia had already been fighting Argentina since 1938 in the Langenian-Argentine War (1938-1945). When Argentina declared war on the United Kingdom in 1940, this is when the Langenian-Argentine War became another front in the conflict (Disclaimer: I don't hate Argentina and the Argentine people at all. I just did some research and found out that there were much pro-Axis sympathies in Argentina during the conflict. So I just added this to the History of Langenia). The war between Langenia and Argentina was the only major fighting in the American theater of WW2. However, Argentina did not send troops overseas until 1941, when Argentine forces accompanied the Germans as they invaded the Soviet Union (Argentine troops only fought in the Americas Theater and the European Theater), and also fought with the Afrika Korps in North Africa against the United Kingdom. When Argentina declared war on the Soviet Union, Langenia joined the global conflict and declared war on Germany, Italy, and all Axis countries in Europe (Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, and all German puppet states). After the attack on Pearl Harbor by Japan, Langenia declared war on Japan and all Japanese puppet states. Langenian forces were finally sent overseas, more troops then the Argentines had sent to Europe (Langenia had vast manpower like the United States and Soviet Union). In Europe, on the Western Front Langenian troops participated in Operation Torch and the Western Desert Campaign of the North Africa Campaign, the Italian Campaign, the liberation of France, the bombing of Germany, and the advance into western Germany. On the Eastern Front, Langenian forces participated in the liberation of Axis-controlled Soviet territories and the advance west to eastern Germany, including the Battle of Berlin. Langenia also participated in the Battle of the Atlantic. Langenian forces also fought in the Pacific Theater, including the early battles, the Solomon Islands Campaign and the New Georgia Campaign, the island hopping campaign, Southeast Asian Theater, the liberation of the Philippines, and the bombing of Japan. The Langenians defeated Argentina in 1945 and won the Langenian-Argentine War.

I believe, canonically - if I'm thinking correctly back to 2003 - I had planned Anagonia to be involved in some way, but I honestly think we would have non-aligned. There would have been far too much regionally for them to be involved with that would deter their attention. Perhaps they would have sent representatives to both global blocs, maybe some trade, but as far as military involvement? No.

We fought back against Nazi Germany AND Fascist Italy and took what we have as our borders today.

Kashimuran involvement in World War II was an era of covert operations, deception, dissatisfaction with the rigid caste system, and ultimately revolution. Initially, the ruling elite supported the Japanese Empire and - vicariously - the German Reich. This lead to our empire providing tactical advice, espionage services, and materiel goods to Axis powers. The priming sparks that would later lead to revolution were subterfuge and subversion within the crown during this era. While the established rule remained loyal to the Axis in hopes of using the Empire of Japan as a puppet in later strategy, the new faction forming within the crown used its knowledge to provide tactical advice, espionage services, and materiel good to the Allied powers. At its peak before the actual corresponding great war in our realm started, the leaders of both factions became commanders on the frontlines of both factions. After World War II ended for humans, we maintained diplomatic and trade relations with most parties in hopes of compensation for our aid, for our own war had started as a direct result of our involvement.

We were apart of the Comintern, so we of course fought against the Axis, it was quite easy and we succeeded.

We didn't "participate in WWII" so much as we "supported the Allies economically while being useless because our military was so small" and "introduced ze flammenwerfer into our ranks because we were really, really fearful of the Pacific front reaching us and we wanted to werf some flammen."

Purpelia exists in an alternate reality with completely different continents and history to the real world. We instead had the 10 years war, 1940-1950.

Since we had little interest in Earth at the time, we didn't participate - at least, not at a governmental or official level.

Our independent raiders and Fine Businesspeople (connivers and syndicate types), on the other hand, took some minor interest in the proceedings. Human trafficking out of Axis territory was a decent business, but of course, we didn't do it for "humanitarian reasons." Humans were and are just strange, distant aliens of another species. The real goal was to crack "the system" that the Nazis set up to try to delete certain people, and getting our clients out of range meant that we had successfully thwarted it. We very much enjoy gaming systems and exploiting security holes on general principles, and when a government thinks it has no vulnerabilities, it's even more fun to do. Of course, we did charge for our services of disappearing people over friendly borders, but the money was just a score-keeping method.

Since we're from another planet and had no real dog in the fight (officially or not), we also had syndicate members making a decent amount of money selling stuff to the Reich, both of the mundane sort and the esoteric. The majority of this stuff was junk of some form or other, though the Germans didn't realize it at the time they bought our scam products.

Certain Nazis being into religious and occult items fueled a small but fairly brisk counterfeiting niche for "artifacts." Also, some think that the Nazi use of slave labor is responsible for the high amount of defective weaponry that ended up in the Reich's hands, and even today, we usually let them go ahead and think it. But in reality, the issue there was our counterfeiters were selling that stuff. These counterfeiters were skirting our own laws against selling any sort of arms to any foreigners. By selling Germany defective weapons that could never work, they could cash in while remaining in Domestic Intelligence's favorable files.

Meanwhile, syndicates also did their part to rook the Allies, such as by providing junky tanks that are now seen in videos of that era's tanks flipping over when trying to climb even small hills, trafficking people out of Japanese interment camps, claiming we'd move rich people's assets around only to move them to Cybertron instead (forever), and other assorted shenanigans.

Despite this sort of activity, though, WWII was never a big moneymaker for us and it didn't even draw that many connivers. Most Decepticons who got into it actually did it for reasons like "because it was different" and "for fun."

Of course, our people faced no real danger from any of this. Earthian weapons technology, especially during WWII, was not powerful enough to harm a Decepticon - even one using a "weak" android body as a disguise.

Needless to say, none of us actually cared who won this war, which was happening on a planet several light-years from ours and that none of us actually had to deal with.

The country of Cosmicium, between 1943-1946 provided some minimal military support to the Allies on both fronts, most famously in Operation Overlord, where 500 Cosmician soldiers held out against German forces for 12 days, and during the invasion of Japan (Operation Olympic (US), Operation Ceres (USSR)), where Cosmicians served on both the US and Soviet fronts against the remaining Japanese army.

I never planned to stick Doge Land into any irl wars. I never stuck DL into a earth map, so no WWII for us.

We provided medical assistance to the allies but did not engage in warfare.

The simple answer is - we didn't participate in WW2, the Democratic Republic maintained neutrality during the conflict.

Indeed, there was never any real question about our neutrality being maintained as shortly following the Japanese attacks and invasion of the Philippines and Indonesia (our neighbouring countries), a treaty was signed between the Government of the Democratic Republic of Gandoor and the Government of the Empire of Japan wherein the Empire of Japan affirmed that it recognized our nation's 1925 constitutional amendment declaring neutrality in foreign wars and guaranteed that the Japanese Empire would not make any attempts to invade or conduct military actions against Gandoor.

Destyntine sat WWII out. We had combined Norway, Sweden, and Iceland at the time. Germany tried pushing north but quickly realized a war with the Nordic regions was the last thing they wanted while dealing with the Allies. They had all German ships retreat from Scandinavia. We refused to assist either side in the end because a war would damage our economy and scar our people.

New Goldman stayed neutral until the capitulation of Nazi Germany in May 1945, when the leadership gathered the courage to declare war on Japan. We sent volunteers (mostly medics) and participated all the way across Asia, including Burma, Peleliu and Okinawa.

Neutral but technically at war with the Soviet Union due to housing the last bastion of the failed Tsardom, though no battles ever took place, since the allies blockaded the bering straight to prevent the spread of communism.

Fought against the Soviets and aided Italy. Bryon was fairly indifferent to Hitler, he did not like Himmler though, or Churchill.

We were neutral until February 1941 when we decided to declare war on Canada and Germany which brought the Allies and the Axis into the war. APH's navy was one of the most modern navies of it time thus preventing the Royal and the Imperial Japanese Navies from interfering APH's invasion of Canada. Inside 8 months, Canada collapsed under APH's relentless assault. Next to fall were GB's territories in the Caribbean,South America,the Atlantic and the Pacific Oceans. Knowing that if they are to survive, Great Britain made peace with APH allowing them to keep the territories they captured. In return for peace, APH join the Allies. APH,GB,Australia and Free French Forces launched a surprise invasion of both Vichy North Africa and the French Mediterranean coast in August 1943 with a fake invasion plan of the Normandy coast which drew most of the Panzer Divisions to Normandy. In 8 months France was once again in Allied hands. The Western Allied Invasion Forces split in half with the northern half invading Germany and taking back the Low Countries and the southern half invading Italy. By June 1945, Germany is on the verge of collapse and Italy has already fallen. Wanting to end the war before Berlin fell to the Soviets, what left of the German military assassinate Hitler and any that remained loyal to him and assumed command surrendering to the Western Allies. In return for clementcy, the remaining German commanders offered whats left of their forces to the Western Allies to help push the Soviets back to their pre war borders. The Western Allies accepted the offer and begin building their own versions of the various German Aircraft and armored vehicles. When the Soviets found out they had been betrayed, they launched a massive assault against the Allied lines but was stopped almost immediately with APH,British and German fighters dominating the sky over Eastern Europe. In April 1946, the Western Allies along with their new German friends began pushing the Soviets back. By October of that year,they had pushed the Red Army back to their prewar borders when it was decided to stop for the winter and dig in waiting until spring to arrive. In April of 1947, the assault resumes push the Soviets to right outside Moscow by late June '47. Knowing what will happen to him if captured, Stalin commits suicide on July 4th 1947. Those left in charged surrendered on July 7th 1947 thus ending WW2.

All Eastern Europe becomes democratic with the exception of Russia who becomes a puppet of APH. Germany become an empire once again but is very close to the West.

Austria was annexed into the Third Reich on 12 March 1938, in an event known as the Anschluss. We would spend the duration of the war under Nazi occupation until being liberated by Allied forces in the spring of 1945.

We were involved as minor Allies. We were worried by the rise of fascism and Francoist victory in Spanish civil war, Japanese expansionism in Asia and Italian conquest of Abissinia and Albania. We knew that fascist Italy hosted the deposed Royal family and was interested in the Balearics. So We had increased ties with our traditional allies the UK and France.

We started our rearming already in 1936. But, the truth is that our forces were unready in 1939.

So We joined the war in 1939. Providing Naval escorts for allied shipping and sending forces to France as We did in WW1. Also our forces took part in the Norwegian campaign. The Mountain Brigade retains the battle Honours Narvik. Our forces were destroyed in France in 1940.
During winter 1940-1941 our country was occupied. As were our colonies in the East Indies were lost to Japan in 1942. So the axis put profascist government with the deposed monarchy. In theory neutral. Our, government in exile set in London. Started the rebuild of the free Catalan forces with Catalans abroad, colonial troops, evacuated forces and volunteers forces in the UK.
Catalan personnel formed the 347th, 348th, 349th and 351st RAF Squadrons. The most of out mercant mariné and out navy kept on allí es side. The Free Catalan Navy operated a group of warships and auxillieries: cruisers, destroyers, frigates, corvettes and submarines. Either survivors of our navy or British and American supplied ships. Surviving Catalan forces served with the British 8th army in North Africa and Italy. Catalans formed the 9th troop X commando and 6th SAS Squadron. Also We leased bases in the Caribbean and Africa to the allies.
During 1941 the Government in Exile gradually got control of the resistance movement (that worked with the allies, running evasion routes for allies downed airmen, evaded pows, Jews, refugees and volunteers willing to join the free armies) our colonies. With lend and lease free Catalan forces were equipped too by the USA.

Our East Indies colonies were taken by the Japanese in 1942 as our concessions in China.
We did symbolically take part in the liberation of our East Asian colonies. As part of a distraction for the Borneo Landings. In the Pacific our contribution was negligible until late 1944.

After Torch the Balearics were freed and the major rebuilt of the Free Catalan Forces provided escort for allied shipping. Also.We hosted bases for the allied bombing campaign or safe landing for allied bombers. In 1944 our rebuilt 1st AD landed in Provence and with other FCF and the resistance took part in the liberation of southern France and Our territory. With our liberation started a civil war. The 1stAD fought in Alsalse and the Rhin. Our only contribution to Pacific war was a Brigade sent to the East Indies in 1945 and a Naval group sent to support British Pacific fleet. But our contribution was mostly as logistic base. But most of our resources were tied by the civil war.

On the other hand the fascist puppet contribution was sending a "volunteer" Regiment 269th Panzer grenadier to the East Front and 33th fighter wing, scoring 160 kills in the East front. Collaborationist and free Catalan forces clashed often in the Mediterranian.
With many sound defections to the allies as Majorca Garisson or Josep Falcó (our top ace then 8 victories and 45 between ww2 and korea) defected the allies in 1942. Making German and Italians mistrust collaborationist forces.

Mostly our contribution was giving resources as industrial production to Germany and assembling Me109s for example. And, allowing use of our territory for Reece flights and ports against allied shipping and bombing Gibraltar.
Forces loyal to the fascist regime opposed the allied landings in the Balearics. But mostly served in the interior fighting the resistance. Some Naval units as two unfinished destroyers were captured and served as ZK1 and ZK2 with the kriegsmarine in the mediterranean until their destruction in 1944.
The facist regime simply collapsed during august-September 1944. As the Free Catalan Forces invaded from southern france, German troops retreated and the allied forces landed in places like Roses,Arenys or Salou and the general resistance uprising. Many units simply switched sides.

Many units in our armed forces as the Airborne Brigade or the Special Forces keep they lineage from FCF units. And our Air Force keeps using Commonwealth style uniforms and Ranks.
British built Destroyer O class Oceà and Flower class corvette Ginesta are now preserved as museums.
