Operation name: Operation Vedas

Target: Supposed drug activity, cult activity, or swamp-gasses in and around the Daem Khat step-pyramid complex.
Reason: Strange occurrences and missing person reports by hikers, archaeologists, and biologists in and around the ancient Daem Khat step pyramid, deep within the Aquilaran rainforest. Reports included strange lights, odd vibrations, echoes, and sounds of chanting coming from the mouth of the statue at the pyramid's peak. DoI intelligence officials had long suspected cult or drug-runner activity in the area and a combination of armed officers and scientists made the 5-day trek to the isolated jungle area. Upon arriving, there was no sign of human activity; the group set up camp near the pyramid and hidden from sight to observe the happenings, hoping to catch illicit activities.

Three days into the stake-out, on November 11, 2011, chants could be heard and dim green lights seem to come from cracks in the stone of the pyramid. 5 members of the Recon Team 1 went to investigate and covertly scoped the pyramid. Upon reaching the statue at the top, radio transmission was lost. Recon Team 2, also comprised of 5 members, went to investigate and find the Recon Team 1; final radio broadcast was simply "the door is open" followed by intensified lights and sounds at the pyramid. The final recon team went to find this door; one member survived and escaped by apparently falling backwards upon seeing the sight at the "door"

The "door" was a solid, single-piece stone carving of a gate at the statue's base, with figures and faces carved into the frame. Given it's construction from a single slab of stone, it was apparently unable to open. At the base was what appeared to be a large lingam, filled with blood and feeding into the carvings on the floor. Thoroughly terrified after losing sight of the other 4 members of his recon team and seeing the shrine, the survivor fled the scene and filed his report upon returning to civilization. All 14 other members of the expedition are assumed dead.
