People are a lot slower than bullets, shrapnel, bombs, pressure waves, guided missiles, guided bombs and rockets. It's generally advisable to not be trying to dodge things that you can't dodge, and instead, you get behind something called "cover". If you pick cover right, you can be better protected than being in the open.

"Dodging" can be expanded to include something similar to running in a serpentine fashion to avoid precision fire and staying unpredictable, but you really shouldn't be doing any of that without first suppressing an opponents' own fire via use of autocannons or machineguns.

You can say it's "perfectly plausible" but in practice it will have about as much effect as wearing a clown nose in the middle of a combat scenario. Cover, protective wear, suppressive fire, fire support are all far more viable options.

Define dodging. For infantry and vehicles, real life isn't movies. You can't dodge enter bullet time if you see a bullet fired at you, by the time you register it coming you'll either have been hit or it will have whizzed past you depending on the marksmanship of the person firing at you. If their marksmanship is poor you might be able to take cover before further shots, but that's probably not what you had in mind when you asked about dodging.

For naval combat Zigzagging was a thing in WWII, primarily in hopes of thwarting submarine torpedo attack. The effectiveness of it was dubious at best and it was generally something a ship was doing as a precautionary measure prior to being fired at rather than in response to being fired at. You could do the same tactic but whoever is shooting at you will just do what the submariners did in response to zigzagging and take the movement into account when aiming at you.

Is it now verboten to talk about real life Military events in this thread? It's something that we've done fairly often and civilly in the past as discussing real world events often helps to construct a good foundation for knowing how to craft realistic world building scenarios.

This isn't how you should google things. Use keywords rather than full sentences. Important words sometimes can be thrown into quotes (This ommits results which do not include that keyword.) Read past the first page, throw in things like "pdf" if you want to find studies. In this case you probably aren't going to find anything about "dodging" but you will find things about actual infantry tactics which are much more useful to read if you want to actually write realistic scenarios which I assume is why you're in this thread?

Eh, I've heard of people reacting to actions before firing (aiming, moving finger from right above trigger down to trigger, popping out of cover, etc.)and jumping out of the way at the last second, but dodging a bullet by reacting to the actual gunshot is complete bullshit.
