In Vrine, public flag burning is pretty much illegal, and will result in a heavy fine of 3000 DD (6000 USD) Though, if it's your flag that you bought, then it's 100% legal. The fine may varry, just burning is not very bad and the police don't really care. But if you purposely spread the fire, then that's a 3000 DD fine.

100% illegal. It can be enforced with the death penalty on certain circumstances. Though, burning nieghboring country's flags are encouraged. The burning of Vrine, canada, ireland, spain and proshe are a sign of respect for the united kingdom. Burning of other flags are also encouraged.

All old and worn flags and pennants are by law made of a non-synthetic, biodegradable material, and are hence laid in nearest communal compost heap. Yes, the colours are biofriendly, too.

Any yahoo who wishes to burn a flag, book or similar out of spite, will first fill out a request with the police, and may the proceed do burn the object in a safe environment at speakers corner, next Sunday.

People of Sverige will take greater issue with a citizen burning something that may be reused, upcycled, re-read or given away, than they will with the pathetic, if symbolic, sputtering of the flame consuming the object, which has been placed in a black steel box.

Ashes are taken care of by the police, and unceremoniously dumped in proper receptacle. A stovepipe with a filter leads away any eventual smoke.

The whole affair is usually over in a minute, and the next person in line may burn old receipts/ love letters or poor jabs at poetry.

The post i just did might be a little confusing, so let me dumb it down:

If you brought the flag and it's yours, then 100% legal. Litterally you can do anything with it (As long as you don't hurt people with it) Soil it, burn it, cut it, explode it, Do anything you like with it. Just don't be violent.

Public flag burning is frowned upon, but not 100% illegal. Just burning is fine, but violently spreading the fire and hurting people with it will have a fine.

As Diaboland is ruled by demons, flag burning is actually a sign and respect and love for your country. Shops exist where they will buy your flag remains and craft a new flag from them.

Burning the national flag, state branch standard, regional standards and other official flags are considered misdemeanours punishable by 15 days of community service or a fine of 15 days' income. The only instance one is allowed to burn the flag is when the flag is to be disposed, in which it is advised to do it at a considerable distance from anyone, to fully burn the flag and to dispose the ashes by dumping it as residual household waste.

We have nothing against flag burning in our laws, as long as it is done in your own home, or if in someone else's; with their express permission. If it is done in public, at most you'll face a month's income in fines, and possibly thrown in prison for a week.

Burning flags of our allies is considered disrespectful, however there is nothing stopping you, as long as you abide by the laws.

This would come under Treasonous Misdemeanours in Scymulaecia, or minor offences against the state. However, the context in which the flag was being burnt would be taken into consideration. Burning a flag to generate heat, for example, would be treated rather differently than burning a flag to incite rebellion against the government. Under the Treasonous Misdemeanours Act, the greatest possible sentence is one month in prison.

While not actually illegal, we had a prominent case regarding that: an pver 80 year old veteran of the Korea campaign of the 1950s saw a student trampling the national flag, and ripped his heirloom off the wall: the spear his father used in the revolutionary days back in the 1920s, and proceeded to try and impale the offender, shouting about "nationalist bandits". While that reaction made national headlines, it is not uncommon that citizens will react rather violently to anyone defacing the flag. We have reports of several cases of police officers being reprimanded for not intervening, though sentences were very mild.

Drongonia wrote:This thread has one very simple question. Is the act of burning the national flag illegal in your nation? If it is, what kind of punishments are there for it?

This was inspired by the recent flag burning in at a BLM protest in Australia. Upon doing some research I found out that flag burning is not illegal in Australia, but it is in New Zealand as well as other parts of the world.

To get us going, defacement of the Flag of Drongonia was made illegal today in a law passed by a very slim majority. You can click the link to view my news article in the NS News thread.

In Rwizikuru, it is illegal to "burn, mutilate or otherwise insult the national flag," to use it "in circumstances which are calculated or likely to show disrespect, or to bring [it] into disrepute", with all of them punishable with a fine of 12,675,000 shillings ($300). However, in practice, this has rarely been enforced, mostly due to Rwizikuru's poor authority in the peripheral regions of the country.

Well, to begin with, there's no concept of 'national flag' in the Hiperuranion because it's not a nation, and Riam is an account of an individual (Hiperurànion's creator) rather than a nation. On the other hand, there are no laws against burning flags or any other kind of fabric, so technically speaking it's not illegal nor punishable.

Ministry of Communications of the Socialist States of Vlaskoff

In the Socialist States of Vlaskoff, flag burning is viewed as a violent act against your nation and your fellow workers. If a citizen burns our national, war, or naval flags publicly the offender will peacefully be relocated to our reeducation facilities. If the offender continues to the act he or she will be deemed as an enemy to the state. Punishments will vary to person to person, but the most common punishment is execution.

Doing anything against nation and/or leaders is punishable by public execution. If parents are alive they are also punished by death.
