SUMMARY OF GOTHICA'S ORIGIN
Although the Greater Gothic Empire was proclaimed on 22nd May 666.M6, most of its history traces back to the early settlements that had emerged so many years after a nuclear outbreak in 020.M2. Great Oium (analogous to both ancient-era Chernyakhov culture and Kievan Rus), was one among the petty states to rise and, for a brief time, unified the warring Gothic kingdoms under High King Filimer II, long after semi-mythical Queen Basina (not to be confused with the historical Basina of Thuringia) planted the Raven's Banner from faraway north after arriving in what was once Kaliningrad, then an arid wasteland now insignificant port city. Basina, like the ancient historical figure Emperor Jimmu of Japan, became the progenitor of a long line of rulers from High Kings/Queens of Oium to Gothic Emperors/Empresses, of which Filimer was her descendant.

Humans had been living on the Kedrian archipelago since before recorded history. The indigenous peoples there lived as tribal hunter-gatherers. One day, it was discovered by Europeans who attempted to conlonize it.

After a series of short wars, the British kicked the French and Spanish off the archipelago and became the sole ruler of the islands. However, they soon abandoned the islands due to the challenges it presented to colonizers.

For awhile, the archipelago remained abandoned and uninhabited, at least by Europeans. However, there would soon be a second wave go at colonization, but this time by an unlikely source.

Pirates discovered the islands in 17th Century and moved in, making it a safe haven for outcasts. Initially, the pirates only controlled a single settlement on the main island, but would eventually claim sovereignty over the entire archipelago.

As for the origin of the current government, it emerged as the victor in a civil war. The origins of the war have to due with Kedrians realizing piracy was no longer very profitable or sustainable, so many of them began calling for reforms. Of course, there were many who did not want to give up piracy, so two factions emerged. One was the Pirate Kingdom, which was the state founded by the pirates 400 years ago; and the Republicans, who wanted to do away with piracy and become a first world Western democracy.

Well, to be accurate, the Pirate Kingdom wasn't exactly overthrown after the civil war. Instead, it agreed to recognize the Republican faction as an independent nation, so Kedri was briefly split between to countries both claiming to be the real Kedri. The Pirate Kingdom dissolved itself anyway a few years after the war and its territory was annexed by the Republic.
Kedri is a nation of 18th century pirates who know water-bending. Throw in some steampunk, as well. Tech level is PT/FanT.
Kedrians abandon piracy and become a modernized country, founded by reformed criminals who forsook piracy and the citizens are descended from pirates, and still retain some of their heritage such as speech, accent, politics.

Federalists from the 1790s US see the writing on the wall and emigrate to found a new country built on their ideals. Over time, their country becomes an aggressive imperial power.
A nation founded in the early 1800s by Federalist immigrants from the United States. Has since developed an identity of its own and imperial ambitions. Now a neoliberal imperial power that justifies its aggression by putting it the name of tolerance and social justice.

Handshakes and tie knots. I don't have time for someone who can't master these simple things.

The Ivory Coasts are home to the earliest known remains of anatomically modern humans, Homo sapiens. These remains, the Timbuktu remains, were excavated underneath Timbuktu and have been dated to around 425,000 years ago. Additionally, skeletons of Homo sapiens idaltu were found at a site near Lake Chad. Dated approximately 300,000 years ago, they are widely believed to be the immediate ancestors of anatomically modern humans. Around 150,000 years ago, the Homo sapiens eburneus detached from Homo sapiens with the rise of the Σ haplogroup. They are believed to have originated near Timbuktu.
Mankind made its first advances in agriculture at around 20,000 BCE in what is now the Sahara. The end of the Ice Age at around 16,000 BCE brought saw the Sahara grasslands morph into the desert it is today, and is when proto-farmers moved to Timbuktu to domesticate plants several wild plants such as rice and sorghum. Many plants and animals, such as the two previously aforementioned, as well as cattle, boars, goats, and sheep were domesticated. In 10,000 BCE, various cultures in the area began to transition from hunter-gatherer to agricultural societies. The first fully sedentary culture within the area is the Gourma culture, which established various cities such as Djenné around 10,000 BCE.

The Gourma culture (10,000-6,500 BCE) introduced pottery typically decorated with abstract geometric patterns and ornaments, made of clay. Various figurines and houses were dedicated towards deities of agriculture. The Mopti culture (9,000-8,000 BCE) arose in the seventh millennium BCE, followed by the Ségou culture (8,000-7,500 BCE). This culture was characterized by the presence of a highly settled culture with an organized social structure and the development of various political states. Under the San period (7,000-6,000 BCE), agricultural advances had spread across much of the Niger River with the exception of the West African interior. According to the Bla tome, the Gourmans were dominated and assimilated by the San period, beginning the Ivorian Antiquity (6,000-5,000 BCE).

Iron smelting furnaces near Timbuktu dating from around 10,000 BCE provide the oldest evidence of metalworking in Sub-Saharan Africa. However, excavations during the construction of the Mall of Africa revealed bronze-working around the same time. The transition from Neolithic times to the Iron Age was thus achieved without intermediate bronze production. The earliest identified iron-using Ivorian culture is that of the Gourma culture that arose in 10,000 BCE on the northernmost reaches of the Niger River.
