Flag of Shalotte
The flag of Shalotte portrays a stylised view of the sea, with the sun hanging low above it. The small islands that constitute the Shalotte archipelago, and the rough seas that surround them, have imbued its residents with a deep interest in the sea, shaping their culture.

Contact between Shalotte and the outside world first occurred in the 1910s, though formal contact did not begin in earnest until the late 1920s. After millennia of isolation from the outside world, Shalotte lacked a large number of institutions, technologies, and expertise required to successfully join the international community.

One of the things it lacked was a national flag. National flags had not been adopted by the rest of the world until the late 16th/early 17th century, so of course Shalottes - who diverged from the world many centuries earlier - had no knowledge of such things, and certainly hadn't designed one for their own country.

Seeing their importance to the 'nations' of the world, however, Shalottes were quick to design one. It was felt at the time that nothing represented Shalotte better than the sea; their small archipelago was surrounded by it, its weather dictated by it, and many of its people reliant upon it for wealth and sustenance. So with no knowledge whatsoever of vexillology, a stylised impression of the sea was commissioned and hurriedly sewn into flags. It has remained so ever since.

The sun hanging so low above the horizon is thought to represent the extremely northerly position of Shalotte, which is particularly noticeable during winter.

Mine is basically random crap I threw together on a Purple background a decade ago.
Purpelia does not reflect my actual world views. In fact, the vast majority of Purpelian cannon is meant to shock and thus deliberately insane. I just like playing with the idea of a country of madmen utterly convinced that everyone else are the barbarians. So play along or not but don't ever think it's for real.

The flag of Bosnia Herzegovina and Sandzak is that of the flag modified variant used in the Bosnian revolt of 1831-32 in which Bosniak forces under Husein Kapetanić (Zmaj od Bosne) rose up against the reforms of the Sultan and his government later used in 1878 by the short lived independent Bosnia after which the flag in question was defunct essentially being revived with the establishment of an Islamic Democratic Republic.

The symbolism of the colours Green and Gold is a testament to the values of Islam through which there is spiritual enlightenment through Allah and the message of the prophet [PBUH] as well as the separate identity and nationhood of the Bosniak people.

White represents peace and honesty and is in the middle of our flag as it is the core principle of our nation.
Blue represents truth, vigilance, perseverance, loyalty and justice to both sides of the white stripe to show what is needed to protect our core ideals.
Green represents hope, joy and love and represents what we aim to achieve with our core principles.
The tree represents how we see our ideals as sources of strength and how we want to grow more in line with them every day.

The parts of the (current) flag of Hapraland and their respective meaning(s):
  • Cyan background: To symbolize its background of liberal conservatism since the Hapralandian Reformation.
  • Yellow stripes: A support for aspects of classical liberalism
  • Torch: Meant to symbolize the torch from the symbolic Statue of Liberty from America, which inspired the Hapralandian Reformation
  • "For freedom and justice": The nation's current motto, further expressing its support for liberal conservatism
Hapraland is an MT nation somewhat (but not completely) aligned with my personal views. My original nation is PMT, and I wanted a modern-day nation to play with current events. This nation is surprisingly active - relatively speaking, of course.

The stripes and their colour are from the old Royal flag (which share papal States colours). The Republic removed the Royal crest and added a blue canton representing equality and Justice while the white star represents Freedom and independence. Also the saint George cross is official too. Used in regimental and the Naval flag (with the canton and star).

The foundinter flag. (I didn't create the flag, but this is the in character meaning i gave it)

The 5 stars represent the 5 figures of the foundation revolution (the top one being the consul, a stalin-like dictator). The green and the whit strip represent the abandoance of the lands and the purity of the nation. The square in the middle (white and yellow) both represent a double pyramid (wich represent the power of the fatherland foundation party) and a sun (in the idea of the glory days that will bring the nation).

The red represents the blood of those who have died in the struggle for Kovka independence and sovereignty. It also represents the colour of the evening sky.

The black represents the nation's history of occupation and subjugation by neighbouring powers, namely the Ottoman, Russian, and Persian Empires. It symbolises the perseverance, resilience, and hardiness of the Kovka people.

The yellow represents a commitment to justice and righteousness, as well as symbolising the sun heralding a new era of prosperity for Kovkastan.

The white chevron symbolises a desire for peace and the snow-covered peaks of Kovkastan. The symbol in the chevron shows a mountain peak, referencing the Caucasus mountains.

For some annoying reason my nation's flag is always interpreted as "technocracy" unless I outright state that it's not what it's meant to be. Although my nation is maybe sort of technocratic, industrial and high-tech, it's first and foremost a military dictatorship that's a combination of fascism and ultracapitalism. It isn't run by scientists and engineers.

My flag is a modified version of the flag from the Coalition of Ordered Governments (COG) from the game Gears of War, which is also a militaristic and rather fascistic nation-state, though in a more science fiction setting than mine. I have not played this game, I just liked the flag and though it seemed fitting since it had a similar feel to my nation.

As well there is a history of gear-like symbols being used by fascist governments, even though I would probably associate them more with "workers' state" type governments like the Eastern Bloc. The Nazis used them as can been seen here in a discussion of "reactionary modernism". This term means a phenomenon found in fascist societies where they combine high-tech industry with anti-Enlightenment values, which is close to what my nation's official ideology is. If you have heard of the neoreactionary/Dark Enlightenment movement that is also a very similar thing. I find this image fascinating in a horrifying way.

The basic idea is that my nation is a dystopia where the citizens all act as cogs in the fascist machine and serve the interests of the state and capital with their blood. Pretty fucking edgy, I know.
We are free to believe that this is the century of authority, a century tending to the right, a Fascist century. If the XIXth century was the century of the individual (liberalism implies individualism) we are free to believe that this is the "collective" century, and therefore the century of the State.

The three stripes represent both the main composition of the nation, so seas all around, beaches and lush forests and fertile lands in the inside but also represent hope, prosperity and freedom while the red triangle represents the blood spilled in the revolutionary struggle, the star represents socialism and the palm tree is a historical symbol of our society.

The flag of the Achaean Republic was first created in 1833, but was most recently modified in 1989 as a nod to the country's bicentennial.

The left canton has a green rectangle defaced with a red-and-yellow flame. The green stands for the country's flora, and the red-and-yellow flame stands for the Virgin of Candelaria, the country's patron saint, as well as the city of Candelaria where the independence movement first began on her feast day: February 2, 1789. These also evoke the colors of the flag of Spain as a nod to the past as well as a fire enflaming our nation towards the future.

The right canton has three blue-white-blue stripes. Blue represents the oceans and the sky surrounding the nation, while white represents peace.
