We have no royalty and we have no sitting President. We are, however, in the midst of a Presidential election campaign.

The leading contender is Mickey Chang, who is married to Lily Johnson-Chang. Their children are Fleetwood Chang, Amy Chang, Harmony Chang and Shoshone Chang. They also have several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Chang's only title is "Mr." or occasionally "Comrade".

Running a respectable second is Alphonse, who has no known family or titles. He doesn't even need a name, really, because he doesn't come when you call him.

But the office of President is largely ceremonial. The Prime Minister has far more political influence.

The current Prime Minister, Harlan Escrow, has been married and divorced three times and has nine daughters. It is also widely rumoured that his personal assistant, Carmen "Shimmy" Dykstra, is his biological daughter. Mr. Escrow prefers to be called "Mr. Escrow".

IC: The current head of state is Emperor of Agadar Archduke Harodes of Bartolt. 'Emperor of Agadar' is the official title for the monarch of Agadar. 'Archduke' is a title of nobility, and 'of Bartolt' refers to the House of Bartolt, the imperial royal family and lords of the archduchy of Bartolt.

The current head of government is Supreme Chancellor of the Empire Duke Sebastian of Ordenia. 'Supreme Chancellor of the Empire' is the official title for the chairman of the Imperial Council. 'Duke' is obviously a title of nobility. 'of Ordenia' refers to the House of Ordenia, the noble family of Sebastian and the lords of the duchy of Ordenia.

His Imperial Majesty, Decius XCIX of Gerzam, Empyratar* of Gerzam, Hero of the Godless, Guardian & Protector of the Atheocracy, Head of the Council of State**

*Gerzam used to be officially called the "Empyr" before its already atheistic people demanded the creation of what is now called the Atheocracy in what was one of the few instances of successful revolt against the Empyratars of Gerzam by the people without being lead by another claimant to the throne. Despite this however, aside from the nation becoming officially and firmly atheist instead of just secular, the Empyr might as well never have ended as the Empyratar is still firmly in charge.
**The Council of State has had no power since the early Empyratars and occasionally during periods of de facto interregnum due to their being multiple claimants to the throne engaged in an unusually long civil war, thus making the title more of a token than anything else and membership on the council a purely honorary custom.

About the Current Empyratar:Decius XCIX, the current Empyratar, was born into an exiled and impoverished branch of the family. When he himself grew old enough, he managed to not only escape exile, but also win a spot in the Imperial Guard. In his time as a guard, he was largely used as an assassin of Imperial Family members that the Empyratar Ioannes XXXIX believed would try to overthrow his heir. Shortly before the Empyratar's death, Decius became the Grand Master of the Imperial Guard. Upon the death of Ioannes and the ascension of Alexius XIV to the throne, Decius gathered the largely grown up orphaned children of those Ioannes had him assassinate, and then led them in a vicious palace coup in which he personally beat Alexius to death, before having the orphans locked in a small room in a complex nearby and having them all burned alive. At this point, the Imperial Guard, already in support of him, declared him Empyratar. Decius rewarded his comrades' support by having them and their families drowned. By this point, the Imperial Family was scared into submission and, due to sweeping reforms which improved the standard of living across the nation and Decius' own overly cautious nature when it came to trust, he was securely established as Empyratar and, amazingly,has had not attempts against his life made throughout his entire lifetime. He ended up, with his numerous mistresses, producing 24 confirmed children (though many others have alleged to be his children, which is considered a realistic possibility due to the shear number of mistresses he has had. Despite his harsh stance on crime and his bloody path to the throne, Decius has thrown Gerzam forward into what is called colloquially the "Third Gerzamese Renaissance" in which technology has advanced considerably over a short period and the standard of living (which, granted, was already quite high for most of the population since the reign of Decius LXI nearly 700 years earlier when the widespread synthesization of nearly all reasources, food, water and other essential and unessential items became widespread) has been raised to unprecedentedly high levels. Despite this, however,presently Decius is more than well into his twilight years and is likely to either be (if peacefully) assassinated by one of his children or pass away naturally within the next few years.

Information on Heirs:The Empyratar chooses his heir personally (primogeniture does not exist in Gerzam), usually from his sons (and if not from his daughters or (more commonly) other members of the massive extended Imperial Family). Despite this, however, as the heir's succession is truly dependent on how much respect both the heir and their predecessor hold, and due to the shear size of the Imperial Family, regular civil wars occur (though due to the usage of private armies and covert assassinations, it rarely proves to be anything more than a mere annoyance to the people and does not truly divide society like a traditional civil war would) over Empyratarship. Presently the heir to the throne of Gerzam is styled as:

**Gerzamus is the surname of the family and is therefore not used in the Regal name of Empyratars. Constantine, upon ascension (whether or not he lasts longer than a day or not) will become Constantine LXXIX.

It is currently believed that Constantine, due to his lazy and extravagant nature, is likely to be killed shortly after his ascension and succeeded most likely by either his older half-brother Decius (who would rule as Decius C), his first cousin Gerza (who would rule as Gerza VIII) or his youngest brother, Ceno (who would rule as Ceno XC).

Existence of Empress':Gerzam has no equivalent to an Empress as formal marriage was abolished by the colonists of Muskoka IX (the planet Gerzam is located on) shortly before the first Empyratar, Decius I, was crowned and the nation of Gerzam formed.

On the rare occasion that a female heir is chosen, they are still styled as Empyratar as the title is viewed as Gender non-specific despite being nearly exclusively used by only males.

However, despite of the lack of marriage, the Empyratar nonetheless typically has a chief mistress who acts much as an consort would. Presently, Decius' chief mistress is Alejandrina, Duchess of Kylarn, who is the mother of Constantine, Ceno and three of Decius' other children.

President Ashranda Mellowen is formally called "the President of the Republic" ("the President of the Republic of Patoran" when ambiguous), but is addressed simply as "Ms. Mellowen." Her spouse, Landrie Darlien, has no special title: in our eyes, she is simply another citizen who happens to be married to the president.
