Are schools in your nation exclusively public or private, or do both types of schools exist?

The only schools left are public, private schools are looked down upon as they have the perception that they won’t contribute much to the remnant of society.

Is education compulsory? If yes, until what age?

Only to the extent that You are still making good grades, if a student starts failing they get sent to a more hands on program like guard duty for food storage or being the vault janitor. Students with better grades are allowed more prestigious jobs like running for office, owning a business, etc. basically the harder you try the more important and successful you are, the less you try the less importance and everyday your job will be, mostly guarding or maintenance.

Are uniforms required? If yes, what do they look like?

Yes, depending on if the student tries to succeed or the kind of job they are aiming for. The uniforms are... (shifting noises) ——The government at this time would not like to comment on the nature of the uniform’s design as that is a state secret. —-

Is religion allowed in schools?

Only to pray for the dead

What language(s) are classes conducted in?

Texas English

How long is a typical school day? What days of the week are classes held?

Five hours starting at dawn and ending at lunch so the students can apply what they learned that day.

What classes are compulsory?

Primary Students (the successful ones): Math, History, Economics, US Military Strategies, for those desiring an officer’s position in Kristi’s Army. Leadership opportunities, Compromise and healthy Competition, Health 101, Parenthood 101

Secondary Students (the lazy ones): Guarding, Maintenance, History, health, protest and compromise, and Parenthood 101.

What kinds of elective classes are available, if any

Debate, Agriculture, mutant animal husbandry, sports, career development, there’s not much left after the apocalypse

Do students get lunch/break periods?

School ends at lunch.

Most popular after-school programs? Sports and different cultural activities.

All electives take place after school

How is discipline handled in your nations' schools?

The worst off students get stuck with secondary status forever and are given a job instead of them choosing.

Can students be held back for poor performance? No, all students progress forward every year until the age of 18, the age of consent in Kristi’s Corpse

When it comes to education in Europe, Alzatia is sort of an aberration. While more and more nations are increasing the years of mandatory schooling, the Principality has never required it at all. In part, this is because Alzatia has a predominantly rural population, and literary education (developed with industrialized urban life in mind) wouldn't do them any benefits—what's the need for reading and writing, if you're gonna farm for a living? In addition, Alzatians are quite traditional and resistant to change, and forcing a foreign concept on them wouldn't go well. So school, as we know it, has never been a part of the Alzatian way, and trying to shoe-horn it on the population would do more harm than good. This has been the stance taken by successive Princes/Princesses.

Are schools in your nation exclusively public or private, or do both types of schools exist? All schools are under public ownership.
Is education compulsory? If yes, until what age? Yes, it is compulsory from the ages of 5 to 16.
Are uniforms required? If yes, what do they look like? Uniforms typically consist of a polo shirt bearing the school's name, with shorts for younger boys, trousers for older boys and knee-length skirts for girls.
What values do your nations' schools instill? Socialism, humanism and internationalism.
Is religion allowed in schools? Although students are allowed to practice their faith outside of school, the outward expression of religious belief in class is not tolerated.
What language(s) are classes conducted in? Usually English, although some schools also teach through the medium of Welsh, Scottish Gaelic, or Maltese.

How long is a typical school day? What days of the week are classes held? Most schools have 6 hour days, from 9am to 3pm, Monday to Friday.
What classes are compulsory? All subjects are compulsory until the age of 16.
What kinds of elective classes are available, if any? N/A
Do students get lunch/break periods? Yes. Most schools have a 20 minute break in the morning and a 40 minute break for lunch.
Most popular after-school programs? Sports (particularly football and rugby), Young Pioneer groups, and music lessons.
How is discipline handled in your nations' schools? Generally by performing chores and/or by exclusion from enjoyable/social activities, e.g. being kept in during breaktime to sharpen pencils.
Can students be held back for poor performance? It is very rare for students to be held back a year, as this is seen as stunting their development. The only instances in which this would happen is if the student had missed a large part of the year due to illness.

Are schools in your nation exclusively public or private, or do both types of schools exist? Both.
Is education compulsory? If yes, until what age? Yes. Education starts aged 4 and continues progressively for at least 14 years (or, for most students, regressively) - the year of mandatory schooling in which we hope one turns 18, which you lot on RealWorldStates would call "12th Grade" (USA) or "Year 13" (England), is therefore "Grade 14" to us Tinhamptonians.
Are uniforms required? If yes, what do they look like? Not technically, but almost all schools have them (typically smart businessy-looking). It was decided in Students vs Saint Margaret's Catholic School (TC5-2003) that school uniform codes allowing male students but not female students to wear trousers was a violation of free-expression and sexual discrimination laws.
What values do your nations' schools instill? Freedom(?), democracy(?), respect(???), and other Western Liberal Values.
Is religion allowed in schools? Schools may not impose limits on religious proselytism beyond those enshrined in Tinhamptonian law. Religious education is mandatory for all students, as part of their classes in Relations (see below).
What language(s) are classes conducted in? English, excluding foreign-language classes, is almost ubiquitous.

How long is a typical school day? What days of the week are classes held? School times are not fixed by the government, except for "two hours of core Physical Education per week... one quarter-hour of form time, including one whole-year assembly per week [and] one hour of rest, which must be suitably allocated and may be split into half" (Section 6 of the Education Act 1963). If you want a rough idea, it's generally from 9am until 4:15pm, plus an hour added onto Tuesdays and Thursdays for mandatory PE; detentions, exclusions, etc. are also reserved to schools but with official guidance on their use.
What classes are compulsory? Weekly timings are for mandatory subjects, by and large: 3hrs Relations (a somewhat uncomfortable mishmash of civics, history and geography), 3hrs per Science (Biology/Chemistry/Physics), 4hrs Mathematics, 4hrs English (language and literature), 2hrs Computing, 2hrs PE (core/fitness)...
What kinds of elective classes are available, if any? ...and for "optional" subjects, as they are unfortunately named: 2hrs Arts Choice, 2hrs Technology Choice, 2hrs Language Choice, 2hrs "Other Choice". (All of these are mandatory to take, but you can choose which one to do within each - within reason and school ability of course.)
Do students get lunch/break periods? Yes - one hour of "rest" per day, see above.
Most popular after-school programs? School sports and then creative programs... or that is at least the impression we get.
How is discipline handled in your nations' schools? Class punishment ---> lunchtime detention ---> after-schoolie ---> internal exclusion ---> external/head's exclusion.
Can students be held back for poor performance? No, as is enshrined in Section 16(d) of the Education Act 1963 and partially because there is only one set of exams (the Municipal Baccalaureate at Grade 14, see above for more info).

by New Communist Ontario
Education is key in New Communist Ontario, in which they have discovered the best method is a camp-style based schooling every second month for the full month (Jan, Mar, May, July, Sept, Nov). There is a separate part of the camp for high schoolers (grades 9-12), intermediate schoolers (grades 5-8), and basic schoolers (grades 1-4). Primary schoolers have part-time kindergarten focusing on basic skills and the outdoors.

Fees
Private education is illegal, also homeschooling is illegal. All children of age must report to school unless an excusable medical condition says otherwise. Failure to deliver your children on time can be a fine if you are a day or two late, up to a week is a substantial fine, and jail time is served otherwise.

Language
Schools are in English, as the majority of speakers. In the occupied Quebec regions, school is still taught in English, but it offers explanations in French and ESL courses for struggling students

Hours

Any time not specified is free unstructured time
The following times apply to all days except Sunday, where all day is unstructured and optional activities

6:00-7:00 Early Morning Activities (Optional)
7:00 Official Wake-up time (Trumpet)
8:00-9:15 Breakfast
9:30-10:45 First Class
12:00-2:00 Lunch
2:15-3:30 Second Class
5:30-6:45 Dinner
7:00-8:15 Third Class
9:20-11:00 Organized Late Night Activity
11:30 Lights Out

Dress Code

The following items can not be worn on school grounds:
a) Nudity, students must be dressed
b) Any clothes with inappropriate language or images
c) Clothing promoting religion or anti-communist beliefs

Also there is a uniform that is worn all days except Sundays, where it is casual dress. Coats are brought by the students and are not mandated. Appropriate clothing for the weather is strongly encouraged.

Cold Weather

Male: Button-down collared military-like long sleeve shirt in beige-green with the country's flag on the right shoulder and cargo pants similar to the Armies in beige-green. Lace-up winter boots in the snow and black or dark colored running shoes in fall/spring. Rainboots are acceptable when raining.

Female: Same top as males, but designed differently for older grades to compensate breasts. Either same pants as males (suggested for cold weather) or a skirt, but high-schoolers may opt for a pencil skirt as it as seen as more professional, all in beige-green.

Warm Weather

Male: Button-down collared military-like short-sleeve shirt in beige-green with the country's flag on the right shoulder and cargo pants similar to the Armies in beige-green. Black or dark colored running shoes. Rainboots are acceptable when raining.

Female: Same top as males, but designed differently for older grades to compensate breasts. Either same pants as males or a skirt, but high-schoolers may opt for a pencil skirt as it as seen as more professional, all in beige-green.

Bags

Only Plain-coloured bags are allowed and students are encouraged to have a military bag. They must be able to hold a laptop which is given by the state on completion of 7th grade.

Infractions

If you are not dressed in uniform, you will receive a chore such as clearing the dishes after everyone is done eating or cleaning the bathrooms. If you don't have a uniform, one will be provided for you.

Behavior

Classes average 50-150 students with one main teacher and 2-6 teaching assistants. Misbehavior is not tolerated and you will be dealt an infraction and removed from the class. If you don't leave, the TAs are allowed and trained to physically remove you. Teachers are encouraged to teach in a comedic manner to help the information reach the children better.

Subjects

These are the mandatory subjects you take each year. In grade 11 and 12 you can specialize in areas of them but you still need to take each general course at one time during the week :

High School

Social Sciences
Natural Sciences
Formal Sciences and Engineering
Humanities
The Arts
Military and Athletics
Family Studies (* no specializations, but you need to take each year)

Intermediate School

Introduction to Guerilla Warfare and Capitalist Propaganda
Law, Multiculturalism, and Patriotism
French and Indigenous languages
Computer Studies and Programming
Atheist and Evolutionary studies
Science and Math
The Arts and Storytelling (encouraged through tabletop role playing games)
Physical Education, First Aid, and Martial Arts

Basic School

Science and Math
The Arts
Around the World and my Country
History and Geography
Basic French
How to Defend Myself
Outdoor Education (Includes mandatory swimming lessons)

Passing or Failing Courses
It is near impossible to fail basic courses, but if they fail swimming lessons, they have to take mandatory swimming programming during their month off.

Extracurricular Activities

Usually run by the students in intermediate and high school. Any equipment needed can be booked out with a specific staff member and schools have bulletins out where people can promote their clubs.

Meals

Meals are cooked and served at the camp, sometimes by students taking a food and cooking unit in Intermediate science or Family studies. Cooks make sure to follow the New Communist Ontario food guide so that the children are raised strong and healthy. There is desert at dinner. Obesity isn't a huge problem, but obese children may be ordered to do fitness classes outside of school.

Campus

Schools are located usually near a river, as there are many in Ontario, and are rural. All schools are equipt with an indoor pool as well for winter sessions. All schools have a large cafeteria and several large 6-room buildings for classes.

There are sections for cabins and showers (both separated by male/female). Better grades and volunteer positions can make students eligible for even semi-private cabins with only 8 people compared to the 16 person alternate. The cabins have a walk-in common room and 4 different bedrooms with 2 bunk beds each in them with lockers for bags. You can apply on line with friends to get put in a cabin together, which usually works out but only some are separated. There is a washing facility for laundry, but in Basic school, the students are required to put their dirty laundry in designated boxes which are then washed by Janitorial staff using quick washing and drying machines with state-of-art tech. There is also private cabins that are silently encouraged by the state for use by high school students to produce offspring.

There is a large playground at the basic school campus, patrolled by teachers, and a medium playground on the intermediate campus. The High school campus contains a sports field with football nets with a track, a baseball diamond, and soccer field which are used from time-to-time by the younger grades. Also attached to each pool is a gymnasium equipt with basketball nets.

Each school is also equips with a building for mental health counseling and therapy dogs. All classrooms have the flag and a map with NCO in the center.

Grading System

All classes report on students each month here are how they are graded:

Basic
Excellent (E), Good (G), Satisfactory (S), and Needs Improvement (N)
When a student receives a Needs Improvement, reasons are listed on how to improve. If they are not met by the end of the year, they may be ordered out-of-school training.

Intermediate and High School
These levels use the % system. You need a 50% in intermediate for a pass and a 60% in high school. High averages can help when you apply for state-run university positions.
