The Garya Air Force uses F-16s in all their variations for the multitude of roles they are expected to fill. There are other aircraft that handle other roles as well.

The whole concept behind my Air Force is cost-effectiveness, so why maintain a large stealth aircraft force when a cheaper 4.5th Generation jet with X/L-band radar can be just as effective in many situations, while being quite a bit cheaper?

My own air force is made up of a bit stealthier aircraft. Interceptors of high-speed and high-stealth, with multiroles, less stealthy but hyper-maneuverable.
Our older fighters, namely for reserved forces, less stealthy and very multirole, are coincidentally also named "Shrike."

Ah, yeah, a smaller yet more advanced fleet of aircraft. We keep some TaH-30s and 32s for specialized roles, but personally, I'm not that big of a fan of specialized air forces.

Shrikes are pretty brutal birds known for impaling prey on anything sharp they can find, natural or man/bird-made. No wonder they are popular names for aircraft

That, as with 99.9999% of all Nazi related supertech is a urban myth or completely unprofitable. Silbervogel itself would've been incinerated upon reentry in its original design or gotten reinforced heatshields reducing payload to abysmally useless.

If anything, the Nazis had an insane imagination. A lot of it was trash, but some of it ended up being useful!

The Sukhoi T-50 doesn't really have much (if any) technology that wasn't present in matured form before the start of its development process. But development naturally takes time—design, mature technology integration, and testing. Russia's lack of previous experience with stealth aircraft caused a real learning curve when it came to the T-50.

The T-50/PAK FA is based on existing technology, mostly. Really, the only thing unique it brings is the L-band radar, designed to counter LO aircraft and missiles.

@OP That isn't to say its a bad plane - its pretty good, but with the cost, I'd like to know a bit more about your defense budget and whatnot. It takes time and a ton of money to build up a big air force, and stealth aircraft aren't cheap.

I devote around 6% of my GDP to defence, which comes out at around $711.8 billion per annum (I'm using RP stats).

I'll switch to the SU-35 then. I didn't actually come across that when I was putting my air force together. Should I lower the number of PAKs if I'm writing off the MiG-35 or keep it as it is?

With the navy, it all depends on your force mix. Think of the MiG-29K as roughly in the same niche as the Rafale or the F-18E (niche, not capabilities), a light multirole fighter that's very versatile. An upgraded Su-33 would be in the same role as an F-14, a heavy, predominantly air superiority aircraft. You might even want to think about having some Yak-141s for your surviving Kievs, if any.

I might use a mix of Su-33s and MiG-29Ks then. I have a few Kievs lying around, but they've been converted to assault ships. I could probably still use them as escort carriers with Yak-141s though...

Would it be acceptable to put new names on the aircraft I'm using? I recognise I'm lifting RL tech wholesale for my military, but I would like to change the names to something that fits my nation better.

Eh, I guess you could field that many with that budget. I'm not really seeing anything wrong here.

And there's nothing wrong IMO with your own designation for IRL equipment, plenty of people do it, even IRL nations.

Can you provide something that's not a photobucket link? My Googling has found nothing indicating the Su-24 was navalized...and "Su-24KP" returns nothing. Amazingly, just because it says "Navy" on the tail doesn't mean it flies off a carrier.

This is obviously some kind of alt-history thing considering no carriers from Project OREL were ever built.

I was only dubious of it being carrier based because my initial searches yielded nothing on it....and I do know that Soviet/Russian Naval Aviation uses Su-24's currently.

Yeah, I don't think Su-24s were navalised, but who knows for the Su-34s which are to replace them.
I think the Fullback could be an interesting programme.

I've been thinking about modernising the 100+ TU-22s I have in storage to serve as a light reserve bomber. I know the TU-22M is better, but I really like the look of the TU-22 and it can carry a single anti-ship missile.

Something happened in the development and service of the Tu-22 that for the "M" variant they completely redesigned it.
This implies some sort of significant failing within the Tu-22's design.
