Your nation's longest running television programs

Postby Gahaldu » Tue Apr 27, 2010 2:23 pm

What are your nation's longest running television programs and how long have they been going? The longest running fictional TV show in Gahaldu is "Decade," a comedy about a supporter of the nation's previous dictatorship who goes into a coma and wakes up ten years later to discover that the government has collapsed and has been replaced by a democratic one. It has been on since 1987. The longest running show of all time is "Your Update," a general news show with a humorous bent. It has been on since 1981 and has had ten hosts.

Duck World has been on the air "since Jesus was an egg", as the joke goes. In recent decades, it has expanded into a whole channel, spawning such offshoots as Duck World: The Next Generation, The Duck Knight and the short-lived Duck Idol.

The Free News Station, set up after the first revolution twenty years ago, where anyone is invited daily to report over the waves to the nation! Very popular! And usually unafraid of critisizing the Government, despite the fact that it is 100% state funded! It has only suffered a brief period of censorship lasting two years when all of the new's casters were actors in the pay of a stratocratic junta that overtook the Government momentarily before our second national revolution. Now the Free News is freer than ever before! And a massive headache for officials across the nation.

"Panzerlied: The Story of the Panzer Korps" is a popular television show that depicts the daily lives and services of the men of the Panzer Korps, having been on air since 1967, it is the longest and one of the most popular shows in Herminia, depicting what is it like for the crewmen of the nation's prized Panzers.

The longest running animated show in Herminia is Vorgeschichtliche Abenteuer, or Prehistoric Adventures, which aired in 1989, and continues to be on the air. The show portrays the adventures of a group of young Dinosaurs as they explore their world and battle an evil band of Dinosaurs, led by Ig the Iguanodon. It is very popular among children and Dinosaur enthusiasts alike, it's popular with the latter for its extraordinarily realistic depiction of Dinosaur life, in fact, it's known the Chancellor himself adores this show.

'Telorance the Solar Tram'. A children's show about a fictional Ramset city's ground-level tramways and local inter-city rail system. It's known for great accuracy regarding the Ramset railways laws and regulations, and so often is considered a guilty pleasure by Train enthusiasts of all ages. Made by the 'super marionation' method of Firebirds, it is often exported to other nations seeking for something more respectful to children's intelligence to air in their own children's blocks. It has been running as a series of illustrated books since the first inception of trains within Ramsetia, and was one of the first children's shows to be broadcast in colour.

Течением Времени 'The Passing of Time' has been our primary news program since 1934.
The longest running series is Ванька 'Little Ivan', a children's cartoon. It has been broadcast since 1942.
The longest running sitcom was Смерть и цветы 'Death and Flowers', a black comedy, which began in 1951. It ended its run in 1999, but reruns are still shown. It spawned a cult film by the same name which is rebroadcast annually.

A known and long-lasting television show is "the ballad of Lord Hermuld" that depicts a lone knight in the service of Emanuel the first as the army of Emanuel fights to conquer and unite all Imerian tribes just before the Imerian kingdom is established. This show lasted for an amazingly long time of five whole seasons and produced a spin-off series.

"Bromë dea Olive" ("Good Morning Olive", translated to english), is a news programme with Olive Maccanrow, the most famous jornalist in Oliveiland; its been broadcasting since 17th September 1956 (in fact "Bromë dea Olive" was the first tv show to be broadcasted in Oliveiland), and Olive is the main anchor since 1964 (age 18, at that time; was also the youngest person to ever interviewed a president of our country, at the age of 19, when our former president, Ryzus Sylas, was elected).

The second longest television show was "Ritti Corne Mie" ("Laugh with us"), a comedian show about a typical olivelandian family, living on the suburs of Cans, the second most biggest city of Oliveiland; it stared great national comedias like Romeu Jacintaz and Esez Morás; it was broadcasted since 1st December 1956 until 31st May 2008, when the show was considered "obsolete" by the national press.

For the record, the television show with more share rate on our national television was the live broadcast of the Superlëga Finals, between FP Bronsk and DC Sipra, last year: around 5,6million people watched the first final to ever been showed on a non-paying channel, since 1970

"The Universe and You", a science program renowned for it's engaging layman's approach. Parents sometimes catch kids up in the middle of the night watching it. Might sound boring to other cultures, but we're a nation of intellectuals and find such things generally fascinating.

Now, having said that, #2 is "Blueshift", a sci-fi action series with a comedic twist. Kind of bloody and violent, but very entertaining.

Excluding news programmes, our longest running show is Summer Street, a soap opera about a group of residents in the eponymous street in Lisburn, which has been on television since 1955.
Please note that Mid Lothian is based on fantasy. Any references to anything/one/where that exists is completely coincidential.
Frequently used abbreviations: HoS = Head of State; HoG = Head of Government; ML = Mid Lothian; KSS - Kate Stephens-Smith.
Fancy an embassy in ML? Click me for details. (PS - I'll return the favour.)
I am usually rewriting stuff about Mid Lothian - just because it's true today isn't necessarily true tomorrow.

"The Smooth, the Sharp, and the Soft", our nation's longest running TV show, is a soap opera about three families of Jankenjin and the sordid affairs going on between them and their neighbors. It's gone on for so many seasons that it's on its third generation of main characters. Because Jankenjin familes are complicated, extended affairs involving three partners each, the cast of characters is huge and the different kinds of infidelities, betrayals, seductions, and emotional manipulations written into the script would fill a psychology textbook.

The number of interpersonal relationships--who is in love with whom, who are enemies, who have one-sided relationships--is so complex that an entire publishing industry has grown up trying to chart them all out for the viewers. It got so complicated that at one point the writers had to retcon an entire season after they discovered that they had accidentally written two main characters committing incest.
