Homosexuals are afforded the same rights and privileges of any other person, including the right to marry and adopt. This has been the case since 1967. Lancovians themselves have in general never been bothered by homosexuality, and the only reason it was ever outlawed was due to the arrival and influence of Christianity and Islam. Today, the Public Advocate for LGBT+ Affairs monitors the rights and freedom of homosexuals in the nation and worldwide, regularly reporting to the Assembly as any other Public Advocate or Ombudsman does. Lancov welcomes and grants asylum to any homosexual fleeing persecution in their home country.

Uan aa Boa does not recognise marriages of any kind. There are no laws pertaining to sexual orientation except for some protections against discrimination and hate crime. It's rare for people of any sexual orientation to encounter stigma or social difficulties because of it. This is not seen as a political question and most Boanis would be somewhat puzzled by the concept of a nation having a view on homosexuality, just as they wouldn't expect the nation to have a view on left-handedness.

Homosexual activity was decriminalised in 1964, and since 1968 is no longer classed as a mental illness. However, the state does not actively support homosexual rights; they are not protected by anti-discrimination laws, and known homosexuals may not serve in the military or hold public office. The 1951 Families Act defines marriage as "a mutually consensual union between one man and one woman", thus homosexual partnerships have no legal recognition. The Party encourages citizens to marry and have children in order to increase the population, and consequently non-heterosexual lifestyles are deemed non-productive.

Ordinary citizens of the BSR are generally ignorant about homosexuality; many think of it as a disorder or a perversion, and some simply don't believe that homosexuals exist. However, the issue of homosexuality is so rarely discussed that most people do not have particularly strong views on the matter, meaning homosexuals, though often experiencing isolation from mainstream society, rarely suffer any abuse or hatred.

Overall, despite its many shortcomings in this regard, the BSR is a much safer place for homosexuals than many of its "liberal" neighbours, e.g. The Commonwealth of Great Britain only decriminalised sodomy last year, and still considers homosexuality a mental disorder, while in the Irish Republic it is still completely illegal.

Queer people have always existed in what is now the Realm, but words like homosexuality, bisexuality, transgender, transsexual, etc. are all relatively new and come from modern psychiatry as a way to study and understand gender and sexuality in the mind.

It's not known for sure how many people are lgbtqia+ here but some estimated about half the population is not heterosexual. Bisexuality is much more prevalent than homosexuality, but both exist. Many of our leaders have been either bisexual or straight. Our chancellor now is the first one to openly identify as a lesbian, and she is also trans.

These days, homosexuality is seen as just another thing that is natural in many ponies, humans, griffons, dragons, elves, and so many people of different species.

Constitutionally and nationally, Homosexuality in general is illegal in Ascion. It is stated in the Families Act that "Marriage is a mutually consensual union between one man and one woman", thus homosexual partnerships have no legal recognition. The government encourages citizens to marry and have children in order to increase the population, and consequently non-heterosexual lifestyles are deemed non-productive. However, the law also states : "Regional departments may legalize any form of homosexuality only under special circumstances where local citizens in their respective regions have tried to push their opinions to the local government through democratic and ethical means". As such, three regions have legalized it few months ago, after local citizens in their respective regions have pushed their urge to legalize homosexuality.

Homosexuality is deemed illegal and a total degeneration of humanity in Petropova, it was criminalized in 1943 after the civil war during when the Falangists replaced the Communist regime. It was viewed as a total disgracement and an abomination to exist within humanity. Violence towards the group, however, is against the law but instead a campaign that discourages Homosexuality and all of its forms are supported by the government.

Homosexuality was viewed the same way as it was in RL. Then a Stonewall like riot happened and then things began to change. In 1971 anyone who identifies as Homosexual can not be treated like a criminal. In 1973 it was no longer considered a mental health issue. Then an AIDS/HIV epidemic hit in the 1980s and more awareness was brought to it. As time went on being open with homosexuality became more common. Eventually in the 1990’s homosexual couples could adopt and then with the turn of the 21st Century more states began to legalize marriage. In 2015 a constitutional amendment made it legal for homosexuals to marry across the nation. However there is some hate however it is illegal to discriminate against them. Judges and clergy however have the choice as to whether or not they want to marry a homosexual couple.

However, due to free speech being prevalent, some members of the small religious community shun it and are allowed to express their opinions. However, the Secretary of the state, the naval commandant and the acting chief of police all identify on the lgbtqi+.

Homosexuality and gay marriage was a non issue until the 1990's, when the legislature try to legalize gay marriage but it ended up being overturned by the Supreme Court and the Liberals lose many seats in the Legislature to more conservative Liberals and Conservatives. Homosexuality is viewed as disgusting to most of the religious population except in a few cities, where churches and their churchgoers are more tolerant.

Mercatus wrote:Homosexuality has been explicitly banned for as long as Mercatusians have been traversing the universe, which equates to about 12,500 years. It is viewed as a huge affront to the deeply conservative traditions of Mercatusian citizens, and the law goes so far as to ban all sexual encounters until marriage. People found guilty of homosexuality are to undergo brain surgery that involves placing an inhibitor chip inside the brain that makes sure no such mental illness affects the behavior of said individual. However, any adulterous encounter with anybody, including the act of kissing, will always be punished with execution, and the above procedure is only for those who have not had sex with another person of the same sex, the same goes for heterosexual people. Therefore, to avoid execution, a homosexual must not have had any sexual encounters or kissed anyone of the same sex. All homosexual marriage is banned, and pride parades are not tolerated and every participant in a pride parade will be subsequently arrested and their memories examined.

Alright, that's a bunch of pseudoscientific bullshit right there. Homosexuality has nothing to do with the brain and mental illness, and it's an integral part of a human's genetic code. Planting a chip in your brain through surgery wouldn't do anything to "turn you straight", because even through mind control, you simply wouldn't at all be aroused by women if you were exclusively homosexual, and you would still be attracted to men as a bisexual, no matter what commands are issued to your brain. For a person's sexual orientation to be "changed", you would have to directly edit their very genetic code, and such a feat becomes impossible if they are already out of the womb. At least be realistic if you are trying to roleplay as a homophobic dictatorship.

LGBTQA+ and Taht-Tuné

Postby Taht-Tune » Wed Mar 24, 2021 7:46 pm

Pre-Colonial Era
Not much is known about non-heteronormativity in Taht-Tuné before the Lu Kingdom (1075-1333 AD). Lu society was highly tolerant of same-sex activity among the peasant and merchant classes whilst was more restrictive in the Nobility and Clergy classes. There have been records of Lu Kings and Queens having lovers of the same gender, but the upper tiers of society were focused on the eternal continuation of their lines. Women were expected to marry young and have as many offspring as they could. In later kingdoms, such as Sgenkh and Tein, societal rules did not dictate into sexuality as much; however, people were expected to still marry for the continuation of lineage.

Colonial Period(1662-1950)
European colonial law being heavily dominated by Christian morals lead to the criminalization of non-heterosexuality and influence on societal views for four centuries.

Post-Colonial Era
Until 1977 homosexuality was considered a mental disorder and was not decriminalized until 1990. In 1991 homosexuals were allowed to serve openly in the military and government. Same-sex marriage was legalized in 2012, joint adoption in 2013, MSM organ tissue and blood donation in 2020. The age of consent has never been unequal. In 1992 protections in public assistance and housing were codified, 1995 educational protections were put into place. In 2014, medical protections were instituted including a ban on conversion therapy on minors. Transgendered and Intersex persons are protected in employment, public assistance, and public education have existed since 2017. Current legislation is in the works to expand these protections further.

HOMOSEXUALITY IN THE LEAGUE

Amongst the Selians, despite being a varied population, generally common attitudes can be found with regards to homosexuality. Most importantly to establish is that there is no precise word in the myriad of Selian languages which translates accurately to mean a homosexual or homosexuality generally, and this is because of the dichotomy of sexuality per a penetrator-penetrated model, rather than a heterosexual-homosexual one.

In this model, homosexuality as an action is both accepted and incriminating. The penetrator-penetrated model establishes that in any sexual activity, there is an actor taking what is seen to be the active, penetrating, dominant, and aggressive role, which is associated in the Selian mind-set with masculinity and the phallus, requiring the actor in this role to be a male. This individual acts upon or against the secondary party, taking the passive, penetrated, submissive, and weak role, associated with femininity. This role is deemed to be the natural one of women in any male-female sexual encounter, with sex imbued with almost a hostile militancy, requiring the conquest of the feminine archetype by the masculine to affirm the natural order of male mastery over the woman, as expressed through the Selian mythology and various hostile sexuality themes.

The concept of switching out the female in the feminine role for another male is about as old as the mythology itself however. This produces the consequence that a man who fulfils his natural dominant role incurs no moral shame and commits no transgression if his feminine partner is another man. The man who takes this feminine role by contrast incurs great shame if his perversion—as it is seen—is discovered. It is negating to masculinity to serve another man in the capacity of a woman, but simultaneously affirming of masculinity for a man to use another as if the latter were female.

The Selian language offers poor ability for a simplistic expression of a primary sexual attraction to the same sex or even opposite sex. Part of this may be irrelevance; it is the duty of male citizens of the various allied city-states to marry a woman and sire children upon her, necessitating heterosexual activity even if he is not inclined to it. The same is true for women, about whom the subject of homosexuality is far less public. Seen as the naturally submissive partner, the concept of an exclusive female-female desire rings far stranger to Selian ears than male-male, as women are thought fundamentally to desire to be overpowered and vanquished by an assertive masculine principle. If any Selian women do indeed feel an exclusive sexual attraction towards other women, this is as irrelevant as the male feeling, as they are to be given in marriage to a man in order to bear his children.

Marriage between members of the same sex is not possible. Though marriage is ultimately a contract between two men; the father / guardian of a woman and the man wishing to wed her, only a woman can be given in marriage to a man, as the purpose of this union is primarily breeding.

For men who do take the feminine role with another man, extreme social censure can result if discovered. For this reason, Selian men do not tend to seek Selian partners for this arrangement. Male concubines are not an infrequent occurrence amongst the aristocracy, often foreign youths hired for their desirability. Preference can vary wildly; many male concubines are desired for a more female physique, and may even be given a female name. For a Selian man to be discovered in this role means disownment by family, and subsequent disenfranchisement. It is not unknown for such men to have been killed, or forced into suicide.

Attitudes about male-male sexual relationships are not universal however. Many regard the male sex partner as ultimately inferior to the natural dignity of the female, and regard it as perverse through and through. This is particularly prevalent in the eastern city-states, where the cultural traditions of Christianity are strongest. Generally however, expectations of the Selian man to be a physically robust, courageous, and assertive force have bred a virtue-based concept of manhood in addition to one's merely biological state. Physically weak men, cowardly men, and timid men are likened to women, which can subsequently arouse interest in these feminine traits. It might be of greater accuracy to say that most Selian men are attracted to the feminine qualities of a man, rather than men themselves.

Female homosexuality as mentioned is far less discussed. Women belong to the domestic, private sphere in the Selian city-states, and though the restrictions which they endure vary in their intensity by city-state, their sexuality is universally considered the property of their male relatives; first the man who gives them in marriage, and second the man who receives them. It would be extremely difficult for a woman in either position to take a same-sex lover without notice, and so its frequency depends on the tolerance of the men in her life. Some are indifferent, as women are not a threat to paternity, and thus the discover of one's wife or daughter coupling with another woman evokes nowhere near the level of outrage as would be felt if she were discovered with a man. On the other hand, some feel that such behaviour reveals an aggressive hypersexuality in a woman, that cannot be tolerated in its own state. This can lead some men to divorce their wives, with the stated concern that her fidelity cannot be trusted, whilst others maintain that the behaviour is essentially a by-product of too infrequent sex with their husbands, producing an evident remedy.

As established here, the matter is complex. The native language prohibits as straightforward a discussion as posed in the question. The way sex itself is viewed makes one's role far more important than one's gender. Marriage too, viewed as a contractual agreement between two men for a woman, and arranged for reproductive functions rather than out of love, likewise precludes homosexual participation.

This nation does not use NS-stats.
The Panselian League is a federation of traditionalist, austere, militaristic, and patriarchal city-states bound by common customs, language, blood, and religion.

Due to our closed border policy, since the end of WWII, there are no such people in this country, however, when we opened our borders to some very limited trade, a few of these people came in and were promptly shot, thrown in a furnace, and what ever was left de-atomized in a particle collider by a mob. No more of these people have entered the country since, although other countries are making a big deal of it.

It's complicated. Since the first settlers came to Catan, it was socially taboo, but no official laws. In the late 60' and early 70's there was back and forth attemps to get laws passed to ban or legalize it. After the dictator and power struggle years of the 80's and 90's this (and other domestic issues) went on the back burner. Today, around 97% of the population think that it is morally wrong, and seeing as how a direct vote of the people is necessary to pass any major legislation, legalization, or even recognition isn't in the near future.

Homossexuality is very well accept in the haryanish society, and there's equality in the way straights and LGBTs are treated by the law. But there's a general repulsion against the exaggeration of the modern LGBT movements, it's considered that despite the people having freedom to live their lives as they want to, they must respect they fellow countrymen and their views and traditions. And that all this kind of identitarian agendas are divisive for the country, therefore a problem. For example, one year a "pride march" was dispersed by the riot police for indencency due to some of it's members being naked and other things. The Minister of Justice and Law Enforcement said about the event that "we do respect their right to be whoever they want and do whatever they want in a bedroom, but they have no right to break decency laws considering no one is obrigate to see their #### in the street". Other marchs as such that followed all laws and order were treated with no repression.
So, to resume, "live your life as you want but don't be a stupid SJW, and respect decency in public for Gods sake".

In SimTropican homosexuality is not illegal, and government remains completely out of marriage or homosexual partnerships. SimTropican is a very Orthodox Christian country culturally with roughly 95% belonging to the SimTropican Orthodox Church (Official Religion). Because of this most SimTropicans don't consider homosexual partnerships as "marriages" because the Orthodox Church doesn't recognize them as marriage. SimTropicans enjoy very extensive religious freedom so churches have the full right to refuse to reconize, bless or accept any lgbt relations and refuse to consider it marriage. SimTropicans are also very big on privacy so they don't care who's dating who though they'll generally refuse to attend homosexual ceremonies. Public homosexuals will also be denied communion in SimTropican churchces which is a common practice. Since the SimTropican church has a lot of influnce on the culture and a lot of control on it's members this isn't expected to be publicly accepted as normal behavior anytime in the future. The SimTropican government does crack down on any physical violence against LGBT SimTropicans and all laws are equally applied for all whether LGBT or not. The SimTropican Church has forbid torture on homosexuals in "Conversation theorapy" though the church requires not living the gay life style to be a member. Outside the SimTropican church for it's 5% of the population it varies with some religious groups also not supporting it while other do. SimTropican has full religious liberty so other Christian groups and other religions and no religion are also protected. Legally there's no barriers for holding public office nor is there any restrictions on speech for those who support it. Discrimination against LGBT groups is allowed though culturally shunned with the exception of religious groups and the SimTropican Church (Not allowing gay clergy or openly gay communion).
