In Merriwhether, we have a long history of disregard for the sexuality of our people. No particular attitudes towards homosexuality, prideful or disgraceful, had manifested prior to normalized relations and cultural exchange with Asia, followed by Europe. Some pro-homosexual attitudes manifested out of reaction of European antagonism and Christian proselytism, which in the late 1800s through early 1900s was more a projection of conservative values and colonial exploitation of 'savage' peoples. In rejection to that, many held aspects of Merriwhethran culture and society distinct and contradictory to such attitudes with greater pride and nationalistic zeal, which gave rise to the philosophy of civic nationalism. Many aspects of Merriwhethran institutions, such as the Ministry of Immigration and Integration, owe their existence and policies to this philosophy and the time period even to today.

After World War 2, decolonization and the Cold War restored amicable foreign relations, nationalism subsided, Merriwhether became a major power within the non-aligned movement and an enthusiastic patron of the United Nations, and homosexuality returned from being a proud feature to a social norm. Nowadays, pride in homosexual equality has made a slight resurgence in light of its increasing global acceptance, though it is not nearly as overt as in other nations where the struggle for equality is more prominent and controversial. If asked about their opinions on the trend, our people would generally report satisfaction and a sense of optimism, and offer their moral support.

Dittatori has technically not "Criminalized" Homosexuality. But has not Legalized it either. Gay Couples cannot be Married or Even be seen acting sexually towards each other.

Someone's sexuality isn't really a big deal in Radiatia - by default homosexuality has always been legal and gay marriage has always been accepted. Radiatia has even had one openly gay President.

In Radiatia there are several states that will allow you to marry your dog, so the question of banning gay marriage is not really on the agenda anywhere. In Radiatian politics it's the issue of polygamy that is a much more contested and controversial subject. Homosexuality is greeted with apathy by most, with most Radiatians unable to work out why homosexuality is considered controversial in less developed countries.

While homosexuality itself has no history of being banned or particularly frowned upon in Shamsiyya, same-sex marriage has not been allowed for a long time; it is assumed, that there were a few Pharaohs in Antiquity allowing it, but this has not been confirmed so far.
Allowing same-sex marriage has been a point of discussion many times, especially when the Federal Republic was founded in 1991. Eventually, in 2019, as an aftermath of a terrorist attack in Utica, Kyrenaia, where Princess Aurelia of Kyrenaia, known for advocating for the legalization of same-sex marriage in her home country, was involved, the discussion has been brought up again. As marriage law in Shamsiyya is subject to cantonal legislation, not federal one, it was debated on in local legislatures. Already in 2019, 11 cantons out of 29 legalized same-sex marriage, and it is to expect, that further cantons will follow.

In memoriam of members of the LGBT community that lost their lives during the 2019 Commonwealth Square Pride March Attack that killed 1,287 and injured 9,295, it is proposed that Palmyrion enact a Rainbow Tariff on what it considers as "homophobic countries" - but conservative groups protest this on the fact that the definition is so simplistic; the definition of "homophobic countries" in Palmyrion is "countries that penalise homosexuality - and by proxy persecute the LGBT community". The tariff rate could go from 10% to as high as 100% "for the most egregiously homophobic of nations". The tariff would have a "temporary month-long dry run" on June, ending on June 29.

Ah, Chap Ven prides itself on continuing our ancestors open minded approach, as such from the very beginnings of our country homosexuals (along with majority of modern day LGBTQ community) were fully accepted.
See, ancient soon to be Chaps were a nomadic group, they had little time to occupy themselves with silly things like what people do in bed. Our collection of written works from the time even suggest that majority of people were what we call today bisexuals due to... generally low numbers of females in our groups and common polygamy, but most of those documents are not really a reliable source. What we can take from it though is the fact it was not really a taboo topic, considering this our government sees no reason to prohibit homosexuality.
