But even so, sexuality is a personal choice, and the government does not force these views on anybody. If the owners of a bakery want to refuse making a gay-themed cake, they can—private businesses have every right to restrict speech on their platforms.

Homosexuals are able to wed, adopt and live normal lives within the Christly-City so long they continue to abide by its laws. Homosexuals are protected from violence, discrimination and other forms of hate like any other Sodomite.

Despite support for homosexuality existing as far back as the Antiuigo in the 10th century AC, and despite the Antiuigo being considered key to the new Redstonian government, homosexuality during the period between 1035AC and 1885AC has gone from being outright illegal to only being acceptable in private to withholding marriages to being accepted, and the viewpoint hasn't always gone towards more accepting. It was also seen as a point of ridicule to be a male in a "submissive" position. The late Redstone Empire was similar to the current Flux Empire in terms of official viewpoint, however popular opinion remained mixed. The early Flux Empire removed the last legal barriers when the Antiubodulori Fagia scrubbed away all remaining instances where heterosexuality was assumed to be the default, although popular opinion became more polarised until the Redstonian Rebellion of 1899AC, after which popular opinion improved until it reached the present day.

From a legal point of view, homosexuality is restricted but not strictly illegal per se. Same-sex activity itself is legal, but same-sex marriage is not under any circumstance, even if human-AI and human-alien marriages are allowed. Most discussion regarding LGBT rights (both for and against) is censored, and LGBT people and their issues are invisibilized in the media and on the internet. Similarly, LGBT advocacy groups, LGBT-oriented night clubs and similar are closed on sight by authorities. Other restrictions include freedom of assembly (pride parades are not tolerated) and adoption (homosexual partners can not adopt children). Discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation is legal, but homosexuals are not barred from any public spaces or jobs, meaning they are allowed to serve in the military (and required to complete their mandatory military service), police forces and other security agencies. Conversion therapy is banned and legally considered both a fraud and torture or degrading treatment, but the harsh ban (like many other Glaktan laws) is enforced in a disorganized and patchy manner.

From a societal point of view, public opinion is moderately negative. For example, public displays of homosexual affection will be met with disapproval from bystanders, but not outright violence. LGBT people are regularly discriminated against in hiring and housing, but are rarely the victims of hate crimes (disregarding the fact that Glakta does not recognize crimes based on sexual orientation as hate crimes). LGBT topics are not covered in education whatsoever. From a healthcare point of view, it is widely considered as a mental disease, but not officially recognized as such (i.e. people can not be diagnosed or treated for homosexuality). Since the discovery and interaction with alien species, some of which (like for example wormoids) are frequently bisexual, some have smeared homosexuality as an alien import. Homosexual aliens generally do not face the negative perception that homosexual humans do.

The majority of Ewarians praise this move. Most of the remainder are indifferent toward homosexuality, but view the Supreme Elder's decision as having been motivated selfishly. Only a tiny minority are disgusted at the move itself.

Most Hopi don't even recognize traditional ideas of sexuality, meaning concepts such as 'pride' do not exist as a concept and 'Homophobia' is extremely rare. That's not to say that Homophobia doesn't exist at all, with some immigrants from the former Aztec Empire being considerably Homophobic and viewing homosexual relations with disgust. Legally and mostly socially, however, Homosexuals and their relations are considered equal in society.

The Holy Catholic State of Portugal, as its name suggests, is a nation with highly conservative Christian values. Marriage is only officially recognized if the sacramental rite is administered by an ordained member of clergy, and canon law prohibits same-sex marriages, so all marriages must be between a man and a woman to be valid. Public displays of affection between men are illegal, and may be punished with fines or caning. It is also illegal to show homosexual symbols or propaganda such as the rainbow flag.

The law criminalizing same-sex sexual activity (which predated the establishment of the modern Democratic Republic) was repealed in 1919, although we must note that no one had been sentenced for violating these laws since the 1870s, with the last arrest for violating them occurring in 1884.

Laws prohibiting all discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation have been in force since 1967.

Same-sex couples were first formally recognized with the passage of the 'Same-Sex Partnership Act 1975', which granted same-sex couples some rights equivalent to marriage (with the term used being 'same-sex unions'). This act led to the permission of stepchild adoption by same-sex couples in 1977 and joint adoption in 1979.

Same-sex marriage was legalized in 1988, following a decision by the High Court, who ruled that prohibiting same-sex couples from marrying was discriminatory and in violation of the constitution, which defines marriage as 'a consenting union between any two persons of legal age'.

In the modern Democratic Republic, there is wide support for both gay rights among the population, with a 2024 opinion poll revealing that 87% of Gandoorese people are in favour of gay rights and equality.

In addition, all major political parties in Gandoor have full support for gay rights as part of their official party platforms, with the most recent party to adopt a platform of full support for gay rights being the conservative Gandoor Freedom Group, who adopted the platform in 2001.
