After observing the effects of COVID-19 in other countries, New Jeromia shut down its borders and ordered a 1 month lockdown after a 3 day grace period. The country activated its emergency notification system, sounding off the nation's sirens and sending phone alerts. The lockdown began on March 16th, and ended on April 16th, with borders remaining closed until a vaccine is purchased.

Only 76 cases were ever reported with only 1 death of a 67 year old man. There have been no new cases since the shutdown. New Jeromian schools are going to open as normal after summer break, and businesses have already opened. Once a vaccine is purchased, the government will spend an estimated month getting everybody vaccinated at their work, school, or through a network of hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, and mobile stations. After this, people will be let into the country as long as they have proof of vaccination.

The national government initiated the national vaccination program in May 2020.

From June 2021 to March 2022, masks were required on all forms of public transportation, as well as in the crown, executive, legislative, and judicial buildings and offices of the national government; all employees and officials of the national government were also required to be vaccinated or submit to weekly testing. Since March 2022, masks and vaccines are recommended but not required.
