The Ministry of State Security (ⰏⰃⰁ, MGB) maintains an officially unnamed paramilitary force parallel to and independent from regular police. Commonly known as the MGB Special Forces, they handle the most serious of crimes as well as political ones, using extralegal tactics if needed. Like regular police, they rely on ID chip-backed MGB mass surveillance to locate criminals, and they are infamous for their night-time warrantless raids. Most of the time, targets are not so much detained as they are flat-out abducted only to reappear later in pre-trial detention at special facilities. Most of the cases handled by the MGB are crimes so serious (terrorism, serial murder...) that detainees are almost invariably executed in public. For political crimes, the above procedure applies as well, with a few differences: most detainees will end in labor camps (also handled by the MGB itself) and some might not even receive a trial.

The MGB Special Forces are highly effective, mainly because of their overwhelming numbers and weaponry, privileged access to MGB surveillance records and a tendency to conduct raids at the most unexpected moments.

Though there are many "military-type" divisions of law enforcement across Synnia both government and private, one of the most feared military-police groups is the Combined Special Domestic Operations Force, or "CisDof".

Technically a part of the Synnian Air National Guard CSDOF operates retired military equipment primarily from the Synnian Navy and Synnian Air Force. Only responding to large-scale domestic threats CSDOF has proven to wield enough firepower to take over moderately sized and moderately armed nations. Operations by CSDOF usually involve large scale urban combat or airstrikes, all while preserving the state of private property in the area of operations. Due to the nature of these operations, CSDOF has always been the first to test commercialized precision explosives.

CSDOF currently operates:

1 x Modified Cowcraft class aircraft carrier
- Expansion of VLS
- Updated on-board software
- Hangar redesigned to accommodate 5 extra helicopters

2 x Modified Fort Nikom class assault carriers
- Fission reactors replaced with 1,700MW hydrogen fusion reactors
- Updated on-board software

48 x Lifeline class LCSs

13 x Creedy class armed tugboat

1 x Minerva class missile guidance ERIG vessel

274 x SA-12 Heavy Payload interceptor

173 x SA-17 Heavy Multirole fighter (Low alt. urban configuration)

13 x GH-055 Anti Submarine fighter-bomber

Hi, it's been a while. If you're seeing this then it means what I'm working on is not quite done yet. You can still read my old stuff but it's probably not canon anymore. I'll try to get something up soon. It may or may not involve wizards.

Omarios’ SWAT version is known as the Specialized Breaching Team (SBT), which are basically paramilitary police units that deal with extreme situations. The law mandates that every police department in the country has a SBT unit or something similar to it to deal with scenarios that would require a special response.

They are like the Royal Marechaussee, except they don't guard the Imperial family (we have a separate Imperial Guard branch for that), and they have a Coast Guard.

All jurisdictions have at least one team from the Tactical Support Police. Their role is identical to American SWAT teams. However, their are also heavily armed officers in the Counter-Assault Police. Unlike SWAT teams or the Tactical Support Police, these officers exclusively use lethal force and respond only to scenes of large-scale violence. They are often cited by other nations as one of the reasons Laredo has maintained an authoritarian government despite loose gun laws. Compared to other regimes that rely on the somewhat slower process of mobilizing troops (whose purpose is primarily defense from foreign threats) during a revolt, the Counter-Assault officers are constantly on standby for a domestic battle.

Most crisis response situations and breaches are resolved by FSC(Federation's kind of UDBA or KGB)operatives, but if we don't have those available then we call in the OSNOS(Отряд Специального Назначения Оперативно-Штурмовой) It has surplus weapons which you can look up here https://www.nationstates.net/nation=novosibirsk_titoists/detail=factbook/id=1294614 and recieves extensive CQB tactical training and don't have trouble getting new members because most of police staff went through military training and don't have problems handling assault rifles.

Raven Industries corporate facilities, as well as Raven police forces in wholly-owned territories, all host security forces that include at least one Hazard Response Team, which is deployed in case of hostage situations or other volatile scenarios that require a higher level of response than standard armed security. These teams receive more extensive training than standard Raven Security personnel, as well as more advanced and specialized equipment, up to and including cybernetic augmentation (subsidized as a part of the team member's employee contract).

Of course, Raven Industries Hazard Response Teams are available for hire through Raven Securities in cases where the client nation finds their own forces inadequate for the situation at hand, and HRT teams are included in the standard Raven Securities civil peacekeeping package, available in yearly and situational packages. Contact your Raven Industries sales coordinator for more information.

The nearest equivalent is the CSS - Commissariat of State Security. CSS agents take care of matters too dangerous for CPO (Commissariat of Public Order) officers to handle. CPO officers are the regular police of the Central Government, while CSS has numerous law enforcement-related & military duties.

Our regular police officers, called the Hive Patrol or HP, are armed to the level of other nations' SWAT police. They need to be, in order to quickly and effectively suppress any worker mutinies without sustaining any casualties. They also double as a defensive force in the event of a foreign invasion.

If a situation requires more firepower than what the standard police have, soldiers from the nearest army base (there are many) would be mobilized to deal with the threat. In the Holy Catholic State, it is completely lawful to use military resources for domestic law enforcement, unlike some nations like the US.

Every Police Department serving a population of Over 50,000 has a SERT Team (Special Emergency Response Team). A SERT team is also stationed with 10 Miles of every town containing over 1,000 Residents. For Counter-Terrorism Operations the National Counter Terrorism Intervention Group is Deployed. The NCTIG is commonly known as "Team Rainbow" among the media and populace.

Saarkonian Federal Police has a SWAT-like team (sometimes more than one) in every big city and one team for several little towns or villages located in one county. Those teams are named Saarkonian Federal Police Task Forces and have a unique code (for example, SFPTF-A21). There is also an elite team which is located in Saarkon City and is used for dealing with most difficult situations; it is named SFPTF1). Also, in big cities there are assault teams from Federal Civil Security Service; they are named Special Assault Teams and are given a unique code (for example, SAT-B4). Those teams are used for dealing with situations wich involve freign intelligence agents, most dangerous terrorists, military criminals, organised armed organizations (like aggressive nationalists) and so on.
Saarkon is Central-European-like social democratic federation, formed from small Slavic republics.

Policing duties in the Empire fall to the Imperial Militia, the Empire's reserve army that also serve as gendarmes. Every Militiaman is a fully trained soldier, with some additional training in crisis resolution and hostage rescue. There is no distinction between a regular cop and a specialist, in short.

The Roman Republic currently maintains a millennia-old concept known as the Cohortes urbanae, or urban cohorts, for handling any issues pertinent in cities or settlements that local law enforcement, such as the lightly-equipped Cohortes vigilum, or watchman cohorts, are not able to handle. Troops within the urban cohorts fall under the bureaucratic control of local jurisdictions and prefects respective to these settlements, and are trained to deal with both rioting and intense criminal scenarios such as terrorism, in addition to functioning as a reserve/garrison force against proper threats such as enemy armies.

It can be argued that certain contingents of the Cohortes praetoriae, or praetorian cohorts (informally known as the Praetorian Guard) function as a "SWAT" unit. For example, praetorians are able to intervene in significant issues nearby to their stations in both civil and foreign soil under the orders of their respective commanders, as these cohorts are imbued by the state with powers that exceed local jurisdictions. These units intervene mainly in terrorist and large-scale riot scenarios, supplementing or supplanting the urban cohorts depending on the situation.

Most urban police departments of decent size in Fostoria have their own K.E.U. or "Kombatenstreckant Uhnen" (Combat Enforcement Unit) that deals with dangerous or particularly violent situations like a SWAT team.
However, in very serious situations or those in areas that do not have a K.E.U. to call upon, units of the military can be dispatched or the covert Imperatoranpolizen (Imperial Police) which has proved especially effective.

The only exceptions to this are the Kapital District of Daiychaz, where MPs of the 1st Infantry Guards Divison and the Imperial Police have full jurisdiction, and recently-conquered areas that are under Martial Law are dealt with entirely by MPs.

People’s Islamic Federal Police have a Special Forces Brigade for these kinds of cases.
They are required to be either in the Federal Police or Airforce Police for 5 years or be combatant veterans.

They are trained in Hand to hand combat(based on MMA and Ju Jitzu), Munkcestrian style-dodging(see Munkcestrian Republic), marksmanship, rules of engagement,
Hostage negotiation and counter-insurgency amongst other skills.
They have been used to restore order to Trade City after the USA gave it back because of an agreement, stop revolts against the Qayid Al-Junud, Rescue people kidnapped in jewellery store robberies and stop foreign-backed far-right extremists.
Mostly represents my views but what I think a Middle Eastern nation should do which will be sometimes different to what I think a western nation should do(because the people have different needs in different places)

Basic/standard police do not carry firearms in Angermanland. For situations where firearms are necessary (along with certain other specialist equipment or training) each jurisdiction has a DESRU (Dangerous and/or Exotic Situation Response Unit), includes equipment and training for breaching fortified entrances, bomb disposal, resolving hostage situations (whether it be a specialist talking down the crazy person or a sniper shooting the terrorist), and other such things (divided into sub-units as is sensible.)
For particularly troublesome situations, small military units may be seconded to the police/DESRU on a case by case basis. This requires authorization similar in nature to a search warrant, and is relatively easy to get if the situation calls for it and procedures are properly followed, though is unlikely to be granted if that is not the case, as the consequences for requesting and/or authoriseing such contrary to the proper procedures are fairly significant. Also, the relevant military commander (a few levels higher than the one in charge of the unit in question) does have the authority to say 'no' regardless, but would have to adequately justify themselves if things went wrong as a result.
Military units used for this tend to be infantry forming cordons when necessary, the ocasional light AFW when particularly awkward situations call for it (this is rare, mind you, but Very occasionally necessary), or (most commonly) military engineers and their equipment helping to resolve civil emergency situations.
(it's somewhat better organized than that makes it look, mind you.)

Side 3 utilizes the Zeon Cavalry Guard for SWAT and/or riot situations. Technically these are mounted police units armed with ceremonial weapons, but during an operation they trade their horses for armored vehicles and are given military grade equipment. Each colony block has 1 company consisting of 120 officers in 4 separate platoons.
