Since 1987 three major political parties compete for control of the government and have won power. On the broad centre-right the National Conservative Party governed from 1995-2003 as a majority government, from 2015-2017 as a minority government, and from 2017-2018 in a grand coalition with the Social Democratic and New Democratic parties.

On the broad centre-left the New Democratic Party has governed from 2003-2007 as a majority government, 2007-2011 as a minority government, 2011-2015 as a junior coalition partner, 2017-2018 in a grand coalition, and 2019-present in a minority government.

Further left on the political spectrum, the Social Democratic Party governed from 1987-1995 as a majority government, 2011-2015 as the senior coalition partner, 2017-2018 in the grand coalition, and 2018-2019 in a presidential government.

Two minor parties also compete and have significant influence: the far-right Christian Union and the left-right Green Party. While they have never formed government or been in government both parties influence policy through parliament. In fact, the Grand Coalition Government was formed to keep the CU out of power.

Non-Partisan. Aaaaaa's low population does not justify political parties and as a result, they are outlawed. Instead, people must register as independent candidates to compete in a national election. A work-around for the lack of parties is having what are known as "formal representatives", who are leaders at the departmental, civic and provincial levels that have announced their support for a particular registered presidential candidate. These groups of representatives act as de-facto parties, though no money is involved. A supporter can revoke their support at any time, even during a parliament hearing. These supporters (along with non-supporters who have not voiced support for any candidate) only have local power and are entirely separate to the President, meaning you could, in theory, have the entire Aaaaaan parliament consist of supporters for a particular candidate while the President is still in power.

Since Aaaaaa achieved semi-independence in 2012, President Şemsettin Aleyilakos has been in power, and his supporters consist of 40% of parliament seats.

Great Nortend has a semi-dominant two party system, although one 'party' is in fact a coalition. The Scodes and Conservative Coalition is the dominant party grouping, comprised of the Company of Scodeliers and the Conservative Party, and has won 17 out of 22 elections since 1950. The other party is the Droughers Party. Both party groups, however, have similar political leanings, both being very socially conservative and espousing similar economic policies. The main difference is that the Droughers are somewhat more economically liberal than the Coalition. Historically, the two parties arose from a religious conflict known as the Olnite Matter regarding the 'catholicity' of the liturgies, rituals and rites of the Church of Nortend. This has mostly subsided, with Scodelier theology becoming the dominant religious view.

On the imperial level, TurtleShroom oversees a true multi-party system. No one party currently has a dominant share and would all govern by coalition.

On the parishionial level and all other levels of government, the situation varies widely.

Radiatia is a two-party system dominated by the Social Democratic Union on the centre-left and the Liberal-Conservative Party on the centre-right.

In the past it was a multi-party system, but ultimately these smaller parties and coalitions merged into the SDU and LCP that Radiatians know and hate today.

It is rare to unheard of for a third party to gain any representation, especially at a federal level.

Since the merger of all parties (rather called 'factions') of the all-party coalition government of the Chamber of States established on November 2, 1980, along with the founding of the Federation and the establishment of the Meritocratic Council on March 9, 1981, Lillorainen has a one-party system.
Since Lillorainen's geography is currently being overhauled a 'tiny' bit, most information on it posted before December 12, 2018, is not entirely reliable anymore. Until there's a new, proper factfile, everything you might need to know can be found here. Thank you. #RetconOfDoom (Very late update, 2020/08/30 - it's still going on ...)

Iraq is a dominant party state under the leadership of the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party. It rules in conjunction with its three National Patriotic Front coalition partners; the Kurdistan Democratic Party, the Kurdish Revolutionary Party, and the Communist Party of Iraq.

The Reasonable has a non-partisan system. Political parties are outlawed because of their tendency to promote divisiveness and tribalism. All individuals seeking office do so as individuals, and there is no need to campaign because they are not elected by the general populace, but rather selected by a board of regents. The board of regents may, in extraordinary circumstances, be subject to recall from the portion of the population who have passed the Advanced Civics Exam.

Dominant-party system.

The Angelan Nationalist Revolutionary Organization has been the ruling party since the founding of the Republic, and has governed in a coalition with the smaller Communist Party of Greater Angelus at the local and national level. No official opposition party exists at the national level, with none yet able to gains seats in the 65-member People's Council. The ANRO and the CPGA broadly encompass all centrist to left-wing ideological camps in the country and have the voting loyalties of the vast majority of the Catrionan population.

The Democratic Nationalist Movement is the largest third-party in the country and controls several local councils in Savia, where the majority of the human-only population lives. It presents itself as a centrist formation, although it has been criticized by the ruling parties and state media as being sympathetic to the far-right and human supremacy. It came close but fell short of the 5% threshold to gain representation in the People's Council in the June 2019 general election.

Other minor third parties exist but do not qualify as official political parties according to the criteria set by the Angelan government, which requires a permanent membership of above 100.

Since 2018, the main body of the Ivorian constitution declares that “all government functions are the leadership of the Liberal Party of the Ivory Coasts (LPIC)." The 2018 amendments constitutionalized the de facto one-party state status of the Ivory Coasts, wherein the President of the Liberal Party holds ultimate power and authority over state and government and serves as the paramount leader of the Ivory Coasts. The electoral system is pyramidal. Members of Municipal Assemblies (MA) are directly elected, and higher levels of legislatures up to the Imperial Court (IC) are indirectly elected by the Provincial Assembly of the level immediately below. The political system is decentralized, and provincial and sub-provincial leaders have a significant amount of autonomy. Another eight political parties, have representatives in the Imperial Court. Although the constitution recognizes the Ivory Coasts as a democracy, critics have described the Imperial Court as being too influenced by the Imperial Privy Council to effectively operate independently, earning.

There are four political parties that hold a reasonable chance of winning a national election, the Progressive-Conservative Party, the Liberal Party, the National Union, and the Workers Party. Currently the Workers Party holds the government in a coalition with the PCP.
