Live Results- Avinaaian General Election

Postby Avinaa » Mon Oct 21, 2019 5:43 pm

Avinaa is electing a new president and parliament today with a relatively tight election result expected. In the lower house of Parliament, the House of Representatives, 250 first-past-the-post and 200 proportional seats are up for grabs. The final poll before for the House popular vote the election showed the NDP under former PM Laura Nyborg taking 38.5% to the Conservative's 26.5% with the Social Democrats at 18.3%, the Greens on 12%, and the CSU on 3.9%. While results on the party preference vote are expected relatively early it could take longer for a clear picture to emerge from the FPTP seats.

For the presidential election Nyborg was on 37% followed by Conservative nominee Ariel Sigmund taking 31%. Mary Ward was taking 29%, significantly better than where she started in this race the CSU's Adam Harris at 3% (the Greens did not run a candidate).

The NDP are ahead in the race for a parliamentary majority while the Conservatives continue to grow their support in the race for president. The Social Democrats are attempting to hold onto whatever seats they can as they are set to lose most of their caucus despite Mary Ward increasing her support for the presidency. The CSU, which came second in the last election, could lose all of their seats. The Greens are holding double-digit support across the country and could enter government in a coalition for the first time in Avinaa's history.

FIRST RESULTS:

First results for the party preference are as follows:

New Democratic Party- 43.5%
National Conservatives- 30.9%
Social Democrats- 17%
Greens- 6.7%
Christian Social Union- 1.5%

More to follow.

UPDATE

Postby Avinaa » Mon Oct 21, 2019 5:56 pm

While we wait for results from the bulk of the country to start trickling in the current vote totals for the party-list seats is setting the tone for the night — and it is a decent start for the New Democrats. The CSU must gain at least 3% to gain any party-list seats, but could win a number of FPTP seats.

UPDATED RESULTS:

NDP- 42%
NCP- 29.9%
SDP- 16.9%
GRN- 9.1%
CSU-0.9%

Avinaa to elect woman President

Postby Avinaa » Mon Oct 21, 2019 8:28 pm

BREAKING NEWS:

Image

Laura Nyborg and Ariel Sigmund have both made it to the second round presidential election next month. Mary Ward is due to speak in a few minutes where she is expected to concede. Adam Harris has already conceded.

Ward first came to national prominence during the 2013 Rome mayoral election, a race she narrowly lost. In 2014 she was elected as an MP for 1st District in the State of Rome and later went on run for again and win the 2017 Rome mayoral election. She was the first person to beat an incumbent president in a party primary. She started the race at 10% and has finished at around 21.5% of the vote. Although her popular vote percentage is likely to increase she will not be able to overtake Conservative Ariel Sigmund to make it to the second round in November.

In Valencia, VNA gains mark new stage for State politics

Postby Avinaa » Mon Oct 21, 2019 8:40 pm

BREAKING NEWS:

Image

In Valencia, the nation's 17th largest state by GDP (out of 40) the separatist Valencian National Alliance (VNA) has taken around 33% with the leading unionist party, the New Democrats, just ahead at 34%. The Conservatives are at 16%, the Social Democrats at 11%, and the Greens at 4%. The CSU has get to break the 2% to gain seats in the 100-seat State Legislature. The VNA did not run candidates for the federal election.

These results would give unionist parties 65 seats however they span the political spectrum with the Social Democrats and Greens ruling out forming a government with the Conservatives and every party (except notably the Greens) ruling out governing with the VNA. A left-wing unionist government between the NDP, SDP, and the Greens would only garner 49 seats (51 are needed for a majority).

Nyborg declares victory, focuses on Unity

Postby Avinaa » Mon Oct 21, 2019 8:58 pm

ELECTION UPDATE: Laura Nyborg has declared victory in the first round in the race for president winning at this hour 39% of the votes. Her nearest rival Ariel Sigmund stands at 35% with Ward back in third at 24%.

Ariel Sigmund's campaign has not conceded defeat in the first round.

Nyborg, if elected in November, would be the nation's first woman president. She already holds the title of "first woman prime minister" after having served from 2005-2010 in the role in the last NDP-led minority government. She returned to politics in 2016 with her election to the Federal Senate.
