This is a repository in the F&NI sub-forum that will act as a container for all essential and general information pertaining to the Human Star State, ranging from explanations on its origins and history to that of the modern strength and power that it exercises through diplomacy and military alike. It also functions as an alternative to those who may not like browsing the Sternenstaat Wiki — however, the Wiki will always have the most up-to-date information at a constant pace.

The Human Star State (Stadtverisch: Menschlicher Sternenstaat), also known as the Sternenstaat or the Staat, is a herculean interstellar civilization that maintains direct control of 320 star systems in an approximately one-thousand light year diameter bubble within the Nauticus Sector of the Norma Arm, specifically within the Gamma Quadrant of the Milky Way galaxy, in addition to another 276 star systems through its multiple client states and vassaldoms for a total population of approximately 682 billion sentient beings. Other territories include numerous outposts and bases in foreign and allied nations such as Pikasistan, and jointly operates the Jiang-Schönau Neutral Territory with the People's Republic of Sinica as a buffer and penitentiary zone between the two allied countries. The capital world, Vera, is located within the Zentrale Herzlandprovinz of the nation.

The growth of the Human Star State has been occurring for nearly eight hundred years, from its origins as a loose confederation of planets that attained independence from an astro-corporation to its modern form of being a monolith of influence and power in the Nauticus Sector and the Gamma Quadrant at large. Although the genetic origins of Humanity and the various animals, plants, fungi, and micro-organisms within the Staat originate from Earth and the Solar System, the country refuses to affiliate itself with polities that emerge from such a region, and sees itself as being the most respectable and thus prominent of human nations. With this in mind, it is important to note that the Staat does not shy away from cooperating with like-minded human powers, as is evident with the nation's membership within the Order of Smoke Jaguar, or OSJ, a compact of human nations of varying ideologies all united against increasing xenoi influences in the Milky Way Galaxy.

The Staat's modern government descends from many evolutions spurred on by sociopolitical developments and events, ranging from the rise of Staatism and the birth of the Human Star State's imperial system to the Civil War of the State and the de facto establishment of a diarchy between the ruling Sternenkaiser and Staatskanzler. This unique evolution of the government has allowed for the existence of both a non-noble "commoner" central government surrounded by the sheath of royalty and noble politics - this is highly evident through the existence of Könige that rule over individual Reichs, in addition to sectoral and regional governors and viceroys.

In the terms of sheer size and influential expanse, the Staat can be considered to be a sizeable interstellar polity, with an aforementioned control of 682 billion sophonts through 596 star systems falling either directly under the control of the central Staat government or through its Staatsherrschaften. With its position within the Nauticus Sector of the Gamma Quadrant, the country is frequently dealing with astrogeographic and astronomic abnormalities and the general tumult of such an otherwise unstable galactic region. The economy of the Menschlicher Sternenstaat is observed to function as a near-total autarky, where the state has declared that there are a technically infinite amount of resources of all essential types to fuel a productive, powerful domestic industrial base. This is because of the unique, nurtured relationships and techniques that have been raised to accommodate for the growth of the Staat and its dependencies. However, despite the Staat declaring such a state of economic being, it profits heavily from investing in foreign organizations dedicated to funneling power and monetary gain back to the nation, in addition to invading and occupying star systems or entire sectors of space as a means to promulgate economic domination or defend against foreign influences in an area. The internal economy of the nation, due to its perceived autarky status, is considered to be unparalleled. Through strict management by monumental financial administration bureaus and empowerment by the might of the Treasury of the Staat, many citizens enjoy extremely high levels of human development - however, this is often seen at the expense of non-citizen subjects, with many being of xenoi origin.

The national demographics and population of the Menschlicher Sternenstaat skew towards a slight natural human majority at around 54% of the current population (or approximately 368 billion), with other variants of humanity numbering at just 2%, or around 13.8 billion. Xenoi are the largest minority "group" in the Sternenstaat, composing 44% of the total population of the Staat (or approximately 301 billion). With such a monumental non-natural human population size within the human supremacist nation, countless centuries have been dedicated to preserving internal peace through settlements with annexed xenoi for autonomy and benefits with co-existence, or have been dealt with harshly through historical genocide and campaigns of violent pacification. The largest group of xenoi within the Staat - the Banzars - contribute heavily to providing internal peace between humans and xenoi, as they are considered by the government to be the most "reputable" of subject species.

Culture within the Human Star State is considered to be one of the "buttresses of a mighty society". Despite the country's immense ethnic, linguistic, and even cultural diversities originating from historic and modern human genetic and social variations, the reigning superculture of the Staat is synonymous with the planetary culture of the nation's capital, Vera. From this, most peoples within the Staat share similar cultural and social traits, including believing in Veran Catholicism as the national religion and putting stock in militarist, human supremacist, and bio-purist ideas, in addition to many incorporating Stadtverisch as one of their learned languages. Xenoi cultures exposed to the influence of the Staat over centuries have also been heavily impacted, especially with consideration to their subordinate state, with some even developing hybrid languages and creoles exhibiting aspects of both native and human speech, or having syncretic faiths blending Veran Catholicism and the supremacy of man with native religions.

The Staatswehr is considered to be the nation's official "military", due to its constitutional bindings to serving the people of the Staat and the nation itself, and is divided between the space-oriented Weltraummarine and the terrestrially-oriented Sturmheer. In addition to this, the Staat makes heavy use of the armed wing of the Vaterlandspartei known as the Staatsschutz, or SS. To be more specific, the Kampf-Staatsschutz is employed for "military" duties as a paramilitary force, providing support to Staatswehr operations while being able to be legally employed domestically for peacekeeping operations en masse. Another unique distinction is that the K-SS has sizeable military units composed of xenoi soldiers through recruitment in dependencies, while service in the Staatswehr is currently, solely for humans.
