Volosovo, Chervolesia — The Central Committee of the All-Trade Unions’ Congress has announced the introduction of a new security policy centred around improved protection for Chervolesian territorial waters and airzone. Citing “maintaining stability and security” as the chief reason for the new policy, People’s Co-Commissar of Defence Vsevolod Uglichinin stated in a news conference this morning that the security changes would take effect immediately.

Under the new security policy, dubbed “Security Directive 2019”, the People’s Liberation Army Navy gains impunity in enforcing a newly established maritime exclusion zone, and assisting the People’s Liberation Army Air Corps in enforcing the newly established Air Identification Zone.Together, the maritime exclusion and air identification zone will offer “complete security and defence of Chervolesia’s territorial waters, economic exclusion zone, and airspace.”

During the press conference, Co-Commissar Uglichinin explained the “urgent need for a new security policy” that would “guarantee the sovereignty of the Workers' Commune.”

“The recent events that have been unfolding in the West require immediate measures to ensure that the same do not befall Chervolesia,” Co-Commissar Ughlichinin explained to gathered reporters. “What is happening between Estmere and Zorasan is setting a dangerous precedent for global politics. Imperialist Hawks are seizing every opportunity to reassert their dominance over their former subjects, even going so far as to stage assassinations to achieve their goal. [Council of People's Commissars] found it prudent to ensure that such tricks could not be used against Chervolesia by the AFDC.”

Co-Commissar Uglichinin further explained, “with the implementation of Security Directive 2019, Chervolesia can maintain economic exclusivity and watch over all military activities in Haillet’s Sea. This is within Chervolesian government’s right as not only a sovereign nation, but as the dominant power of the Asterias.”

The newly implemented aerial identification zone (AIZ) stretches 1496 km (786 nmi) from central naval hub of Tagerty, and covers an area of 2,773,600 square kilometres (1,070,893 square miles). Upon entering the AIZ, all aircraft will have to identify themselves, make known their positioning at all times, and subject themselves to the control of People’s Liberation Army Air Corps air traffic controllers stationed in Tagerty. Foreign military aircraft entering the zone will be forced to identify themselves and permit a Chervolesian escort while within the zone. Refusal to identify or commit to an escort will be viewed as an act of hostility and be responded to appropriately.

In addition to the AIZ, it was announced that a dual maritime exclusion zone (MEZ) and exclusive economic exploitation zone (EEEZ) would be constructed. The MEZ will stretch 2,230 km (1,385 mi) from Tagerty at its longest point. Much like the AIZ, all foreign ships entering the MEZ will be forced to identify themselves, their positioning, and where the ship is heading, and subject themselves to a Chervolesian naval escort. Additionally within the EEEZ, Chervolesian corporations will be given permits to pursue greater deep sea fish quantities, exploration rights, and exploitation of underwater minerals and energy deposits.

Security Directive 2019 is expected to be fully implemented by next week at the latest.

Two PLAN ships intercepted and seized the unresponsive Satucine freighter.

Tagerty, Chervolesia — A freighter bearing Satucine markings was seized by the PLAN at 17.49 local time. The freighter entered the Maritime Exclusion Zone established by Security Directive 2019. Two ships of the PLAN that were nearby immediately contacted the freighter, and when no response was given, dispatched a boarding party to seize the vessel. The rogue freighter captain and chief mate are currently in custody, while the remaining crew are being questioned by naval intelligence personnel.

“Several attempts were made by Captain Osip Stetsyuk of SKR-37 to contact the freighter,” a statement from the People’s Commissariat of the Navy read. “When the freighter failed to respond to all three hails, a vote was held between Captain Stetsyuk, Commander Vaniamin Kozak of SKR-19, and Politruks Arseni Polishchyuk and Lavrentiy Ryahkin to determine the next course of action. They unanimously voted to seize the rogue freighter. Their actions have the full support and backing of the Navy Commissariat.”

The incident took place 40 miles east of the Chervo-Duquense border, at the periphery of the southern boundary of the Maritime Exclusion Zone. At 16.39 local time, the freighter was spotted on RADAR entering the exclusion zone. Two vessels of the PLAN were in the area and changed course to intercept the freighter. At 17.21 local time, the two PLAN vessels had made visual contact with the freighter and opened communications with it. At 17.30, the freighter remained unresponsive to hails from SKR-37, the lead ship of the patrol, and Captain Stetsyuk held a vote to determine the next course of action. The council consisting of Captain Stetsyuk, the commander of SKR-17, and the ships’ two political officers unanimously voted to seize freighter. At 17.37, a squad of naval infantry were dispatched by SKR-37 and boarded the unresponsive freighter. After 11 minutes, the naval infantry had secured the freighter and had the freighter’s captain and chief mate in custody.

The freigher’s captain and chief mate are currently being held in custody and have both been charged with espionage and conspiracy to act against the people and Republic of Chervolesia. No statements have been released in regards to the remainder of the freighter's crew.

This is the second naval incident in the last week, as on 7 Žar, three Estmerish naval vessels illegally entered Zorasani territorial waters. The Main Intelligence Directorate is working closely with the Zorasani intelligence services to determine if the two incidents are at all related.

Satucine Spy Ship Captain and Chief Mate Formally Charged with Espionage as Remaining Crew to be Released

People’s Commissar Tselikovskaya announced the findings of the GRU to reporters.

Volosovo, Chervolesia — The crew of the Satucine spy vessel seized on the 13th is set to be released according to People’s Commissar of Foreign Affairs Doroteya Tselikovskaya. Their release comes after the conclusion of a seven-day investigation by the Main Intelligence Directorate into the actions of the ship’s captain. In addition to the release of the crew, it was made public that the ship’s captain and chief mate are being charged with conspiracy to act against the people and republic of Chervolesia.

The report detailed several discrepancies between the captain’s log, real time location gained by the PLAN’s automated identification system (AIS), and the freighter’s voyage data recorder (VDR). The VDR showed the freighter receiving all three hails from SKR-37 as well as the audio of the freighter captain telling the ship’s second officer to ignore the hails and to maintain course. These findings match up with the after action report given by Captain Osip Stetsyuk, chief officer of the PLAN frigate Besstrášnyj and the officer responsible for the seizure of the Satucine spy vessel.

“We have begun talks with the Satucine government over the release of crew members,” People’s Commissar Tselikovskaya told reporters. “The ship’s captain and chief mate have committed grievous crimes against the Chervolesian nation; Prime Minister Allaire and the rest of the Satucine government must recognise this if the negotiations are going to progress any further. [The Satucine government] are not innocent in this matter.”

Since the seizure of the spy ship, the illegitimate governments of several nations, predominantly within the Asterias, have condemned the actions of Chervolesia.

When asked about the condemnations, People’s Commissar Tselikovskaya said “the condemnations cannot be taken seriously.”

“The governments that condemn our lawful actions are the same people that voted against the condemnation of Estmere. Their words cannot be taken seriously when they so blatantly contradict themselves like this. Either all are guilty or none are, you don’t get to pick and choose.”

The announcement of the crew’s release comes only hours after the CN resolution to condemn Estmere for violating Zorasani territorial waters. Resolution 84.330 failed to receive enough votes in favor, resulting in its defeat. Although the votes for the resolution were largely along factional lines, the Chervolesian ambassador to the CN, Beatrisa Chebykina, abstained from voting.

Many military and political analysts have criticised the CN for its inaction over the Estmerish-Zorasani naval incident. With the resolution to condemn Estmere failing to pass, some have said that current maritime law “hangs on a thread.”

The People’s Commissariat of Defence issued a statement on the matter, saying “the People’s Liberation Army is not dissuaded by the failure of the CN in maintaining the territorial integrity of its member nations. We remain committed to the defence of Chervolesian territory, and are determined to prevent further breaches by foreign agents.”

Chairwoman Zhzhyonova spoke to cadets at the V.V. Kudelin Political-Military Academy on Saturday.

Volosovo, Volosovo Autonomous Commune — Speaking to politruk cadets at the V. V. Kudelin Political-Military Academy, comrade Chairwoman Zhzhyonova decried the erosion of maritime law at the hands of the hawkish and ruinous powers within the so-called “Euclean Community” and “Union of Satucin.”

With over 2,000 political officer cadets in attendance, Comrade Zhzhyonova was met with boisterous applause as she took the podium. In a rousing speech, the comrade chairwoman vowed to “uphold and protect the values of the Commune of the Working People of Chervolesia and People’s Solidarity from international interference and intrusion.” Citing both the ongoing incident with Satucin and the incident where Estmerish warships illegally entered Zorasani territorial waters nearly three months ago, Comrade Zhzhyonova said global institutions “have clearly failed” in maintaining the “sanctity of international norms and customs.” Concluding her speech, the comrade chairwoman declared that “the Commune of Working People’s will take all steps necessary to maintain its territorial integrity, both on land and at sea.”

Chairwoman Zhzhyonova’s speech to the future worker-soldiers of the V.V. Kudelin Political-Military Academy comes following the illegal seizure of an Eldmarkian freighter by the rogue Satucine state. In addition to this heinous act against international maritime law, the reactionary government in Gatôn announced the closure of Arucian Strait to Chervolesian shipping. Using the “Defence of the Straits Act,” a morally dubious law that has no international recognition or standing, as justification, the illegal blockade will be put into effect immediately.

“[Satucin] is no doubt emboldened by the actions of Estmere and the inaction of the Community of Nations,” Delegate Polikarp Semichayevsky told reporters after an emergency meeting of the Trade Unions’ Congress on Sunday. “They cannot deal with the consequences of their actions, by first attempting to spy on us and now by attempting to economically isolate us for refusing to bow down to them.”

The subject of the emergency session has not yet been made known to the public but many speculate that it was to make amendments to the proposed budgets and economic plans for the RY109 fiscal year in anticipation for the Sbórabr People’s Conference.

While no public response has been released by the People’s Commissariat for Foreign Affairs, it has been reported that the Consul to Satucin, Danulka Umameteva, would be recalled and that similar actions are being considered for Nuvania, Eldmark, Cassier, and Vilcasuamanas.

In a contrasting move, the office People’s Commissariat of the Navy announced that a naval task force would be sent on a freedom of passage trip through the Arucian Strait. The task force will be consisting of two Tukhachevsky class destroyers, four Trident-II class frigates, and one Berdysh class submarine. The task force is set to depart Tagerty on the 3rd Complementary Day. Following its freedom of passage through the Arucian Strait, the naval task force will be moving to Zorasan, where it will be taking part in the upcoming naval exercises taking place between the two countries.

Thousands take to the Streets as Kudelinskaya Square Commemorative Vigil Morphs into Anti-Government Protest

Student protesters march through the market district of Volosovo as the protests entered their third day.

Volosovo, Volosovo Autonomous Commune — Over 50,000 students took to the streets on Trétʹjevodénʹ as protests commemorating the Kudelinskaya Square protests entered their third day.

The march started as a commemorative assembly to acknowledge the 18th anniversary of the Kudelinskaya Square protests. The march was quickly hijacked by disillusioned members of the Revolutionary Youth for a Red Tomorrow and Children of the Revolution Federation, who co opted the march and used it as a platform for criticising the current government and policies of Chairman Kurdyashov.

These former members have quickly organised themselves as the “Democratic Chervolesia Movement.” The protest’s organisers are Selena Yevtushenkova, Karl Menshchikov, and Anastasia Perevyortova. The trio are former members of the Children of the Revolution Federation up until 2012, when they resigned following their return from studying abroad in Caldia, Estmere, and Lorcania, respectively. Since 2014, the three have been highly critical of the Kurdyashov government and Chervolesian domestic policy, and have been active in pro-Euclean Community, and pro-democracy forums.

The protests started at 09.00 EAD with students gathering at Admiral Tarnovetsky Park, located approximately 5 km from Kudelinskaya Square. By 09.30, the student protest began their walk to the Square. Shortly after departing, an unknown group of students began to shout anti-government slogans, and bystanders began to join, causing the group to swell to an estimated 15,000 protesters. By 14.00 EAD, the number of the protesters had doubled and by 17.00, an estimated 50,000 people were in attendance.

Many of the protesters have been shouting anti-government statements, the majority of which have been directed at Zinoviy Kudryashov, Chairman of the Presidium of National Defence, Co-Premiers of the Trade Unions’ Congress Artemiy Garifullin and Aleksandra Andronikova, and other high-profile members of the Chervolesian Central Committee.

One protester, who wished to remain anonymous for personal safety, stated “the government under Chairman Kudryashov has no legitimacy. It is not voted for the people but chosen for us. For decades this cabal has remained in power and it is time for all citizens to take back our government and our revolution.”

No attempts to disperse the protests have been made yet by the government and no arrests have occurred. The Committee for Civil Defence has said that protesters who return to their homes by 21.00 will not face prosecution nor be fined. If protesters remain out passed the government mandated curfew, then the CCD has issued a statement saying "we will have no choice but to arrest and imprison those who ignore our warnings and continue to break the law."

Volosovo, Volosovo Autonomous Commune — Early this morning, the Committee for Civil Defence and the State Commission for Justice issued arrest warrants for Democratic Chervolesia Movement founders Selena Yevtushenkova, Karl Menshchikov, and Anastasia Perevyortova. The warrants charge the trio with conspiracy to overthrow the government, defamation of public officials, and domestic terrorism. This news comes as the protests, which started last week, have grown in size and support.

In a little over two hours since the issuance of the warrants, Democratic Chervolesia Movement founders Karl Menshchikov and Anastasia Perevyortova were arrested in their homes in downtown Volosovo. The third founder, Selena Yevtushenkova, has reportedly fled the country for Cassier within the last 72 hours. A statement from the Committee for Civil Defence reported “news of the issuance of the arrest warrants were leaked to Yevtushenkova, allowing her to flee the country.” The KGO refused to answer how the information got leaked and if there was a possibility of other information being leaked.

The arrests of Menshchikov and Perevyotova comes at a crucial time as the protests continue to grow in size and veracity. Some analysts estimate that over 100,000 protesters are present within Volosovo. Similar protests have started to emerge in other major cities, chiefly Tagerty, Gorlivka, and Kramatorsk. Despite the arrests, the protests continue to remain peaceful. Whether or not this will change remains to be seen, but internal security forces have been deployed to Kudelinskaya Square as a precautionary measure.

Co-Chairman of the KGO Vyacheslav Ponomarev issued a public statement again urging the protesters to return peacefully to their homes. In the same statement, he also urged businesses to fire employees who have called in sick any of the past seven days and for schools and universities to expel students who have not attended classes.

Alongside the arrests, the People’s Commissariat of Media and Communications has temporarily closed down foreign and independent news organisations from operating and has put up a nationwide firewall to prevent citizens from accessing foreign news sources. Additionally, social media services have been temporarily shut down. A nationwide state of emergency has yet to be declared with many believing that such will not occur.

Military Deployed As Unrest and Disorder Continues

Two soldiers of the Ground Forces and a member of police patrolling a street in Kramatorsk.

Volosovo, Volosovo Autonomous Commune — As the general anti-government protests enter their 15th consecutive day, the People’s Commissar of Defence Vsevolod Uglichinin announced that the People’s Liberation Army Ground Forces would be deployed to “troublesome” areas in order to “enforce the peace.” Cities to be affected include the capital, Volosovo, Tagerty, Kramatorsk, Endirey, Gvizd, and Detinets.

The deployment of soldiers to major cities signals a change in government response to the protests, which has been uncharacteristically non-confrontational since the protests first started on the September 23rd.

Since the start of the protests on 23 September, an estimated 2,7 million people have continuously taken part and an estimated 5,9 million have participated in them in some capacity. The protests originated as a memorial vigil and commemorative walk for the 18th anniversary of the Kudelinskaya Square protests. As the crowd was moving to the square from the Admiral Tarnovetsky Park, unidentified participants began shouting anti-government slogans. In the following days, the protest grew to over a million people and similar anti-government protests sprung up in other major cities.

A partial crackdown on the protests were initiated on the 9th with key protest organisers Karl Menshchikov and Anastasia Perevyortova being arrested by the Committee for Civil Defence, and the government shutdown of mass media news organisations, the implementation of a nationwide firewall, and the shutdown of social media services for the foreseeable future.

Immediately following the arrests, an emergency session of the Trade Unions’ Congress convened. During the proceedings, the chief representatives of the VAS (public transport), ChPF (educators), ChSS (industrial workers), RRF (students), RJKZ (youth pioneers), and NDS (homemakers) announced they were withdrawing from the Trade Unions’ Congress. Additionally, the VAS, ChPF, and ChSS have issued a general strike until the political demands of the protests have been met.

A set of unified demands were released by Selena Yevtushenkova, a protest organiser and political refugee currently seeking asylum in Cassier, calling for the immediate resignation of Chairman of the Presidium of National Defence Zinoviy Kurdyashov, who has been in power since 1998, Co-Chairwoman of the PND Anninka Zhzhyonova, who was selected in 2009, Co-Premiers of the Trade Unions’ Congress Artemiy Garifullin and Aleksandra Andronikova, and Technical Secretary of the Council of People’s Commissars Valka Pozharskaya.

Following the withdrawal of the VAS, ChPF, ChSS, RRF, RJKZ, and NDS, Co-Premiers Garifullin and Andronikova have both resigned. However new a new premier (or premiers should the chief candidate be male) cannot be elected until the dissenting workers’ unions return to the Trade Unions’ Congress. Another side effect of the premiers’ resignations is the suspension of the upcoming People’s Conference. The suspension means that a new legislative agenda cannot be formulated. Some analysts predict that this will lead to further unions withdrawing and a possible collapse of the Trade Unions’ Congress altogether.

Since the call of the general strike last Wednesday, public transport has been in near-complete shutdown in major cities across the country, schools have been closed nationwide, and many factories have been temporarily closed. Goals for the strike largely echo those laid out by the protesters, with an additional caveat of a reorganisation of seat allocation within the Trade Unions’ Congress to better reflect national membership of the dissenting unions.

The strikes and political gridlock have further hurt a recently struggling Chervolesian economy, as the debatable illegal closure of the Arucian Straits by Satucin on 11 September set in motion an economic decline. The combined issues have added fuel to the fire, as many are starting to feel the brunt of the closure. The Chairs of the Economic Planning Committee and People’s Commissar of Economic Affairs have both publicly criticised the government for its inaction in trying to curtail economic decay and the Economic Affairs Commissar went as far as to criticise the Foreign Affairs Commissariat for “playing tough” in the negotiations. People’s Commissar Amalia Cherepanova resigned shortly following her comments were made public.

Internal security forces were deployed as protesters and police clashed.

Volosovo, Volosovo Autonomous Commune — The protests which have been gripping the country for nearly two and a half weeks have come to climax as reports of armed clashes between protesters and security forces have begun to come in.

Reportedly, the detaining of two students is the catalyst for the violence. At 11.37, two students made an attempt to enter a television station in order to broadcast the demands of the protests when they were arrested by the internal security forces stationed at the building. The remaining protesters gathered around the building demanded the release of the students, where they were subsequently fired upon by the guards, killing two and wounding several others. The protesters around the building responded by storming the building.

As news of the actions of the security forces spread, clashes quickly broke out . Eventually, internal security forces were pushed out by a mixture of local law enforcement, protesters, and military defectors. By 18.00, the entirety of Kudelinskaya Square and the surrounding downtown district was firmly under insurgent control, with barricades erected along the streets into the area.

Fighting and other acts of violence have reportedly spread throughout the city, with the insurgents gaining control of several of the city’s districts. Across the rest of the country, other insurgencies have sprung up in other cities, while in the countryside, People’s Defence Units have overthrown communal governments.

While military units were deployed to cities to quell the protests just two days ago, there have been no reports of military units actively engaging insurgents. In fact, many of the units deployed seem to be unsure whether to engage the insurgents or to openly support them. Fighting between military units and insurgents are believed, so far, to be purely for self-defence.

More as the story develops.

Former Commissar of Social Welfare Masalina-Mravinskaya Elected Technical Secretary Following Seizure of the Trade Unions’ Congress by Revolutionaries

Masalina-Mravinskaya has remained popular with the public for her welfare
and social reforms enacted during her tenure as Commissar from 2015-2017

Volosovo, Chervolesia — In the early hours of Friday, revolutionaries liberated the Trade Unions’ Congress building from the reactionary forces of the Kurdyashov regime.

At 06.30, a mass of unarmed revolutionaries gathered outside the Trade Unions’ Congress building under the belief that prisoners from the protests where temporarily being held there. Without warning, State Protection Authority personnel guarding the building opened fire on the peaceful protesters, wounding seven. Armed revolutionaries and military personnel returned fire. After a brief firefight that left eight dead and 17 wounded, OGZ personnel withdrew from the vicinity.

The attacks and subsequent capture of the Trade Unions’ Congress have caused a near total collapse of the illegal and illegitimate Kurdyashov regime. It is believed that the former Chairman Zinoviy Kurdyashov, Chairwoman Anninka Zhzhyonova, and former Technical Secretary Valka Pozharskaya have fled the country. All three were amongst those called to resign when the protests first started on 20 September. Remaining members of the government, namely the remaining sitting Sovnarkom members, have resigned.

Despite the capture of the building by revolutions, the Trade Unions’ Congress held a second emergency session. In an unexpected move, the representatives of the VAS, ChPF, ChSS, RRF, RJKZ, and NDS, which had all formally withdrawn from the TUC on 7 October, were present. One of the first matters handled during the proceedings was the election of a new premier. Former Co-Premiers Artemiy Garifullin and Aleksandra Andronikova had resigned on 7 October. Following a quick deliberation, Nikolay Lebedintsev, a member of the National Farmers’ Union, was elected, with Sofya Petrashevskaya, chief representative of the Chervolesian Teachers’ Federation, was selected as Co-Premier.

Under the guidance of the newly elected premiers, a new Council of People’s Commissars was created, and former People’s Commissar of Social Welfare, and chief presentative of the Agricultural and Rural Enterprises Alliance, Vasilissa Masalina-Mravinskaya was chosen as Technical Secretary to resounding applause from the Congress.

Masalina-Mravinskaya served as People’s Commissar of Social Welfare from 2015-2017. During her tenure, she enacted multiple reform policies including a restructuring of the country’s welfare programme, modernisation programmes for communal canteens, laundromats, and creches, and policies to communalise household management as a method to compensate for traditional housework. She was dismissed from the Sovnarkom by former Technical Secretary Pozharskaya and subsequently arrested for promoting capitalism and counter-revolutionary activities. She was released from a work camp in early 2019 in order to appease political protests occurring at the time.

In a speech to the congress, Masalina-Mravinskaya declared the deposing of the Kurdyashov regime as a “victory of the hard working, socialist Chervolesian people over the national functionalist, reactionary, counter revolutionary forces of the Kurdyashov government.”

“This is a great national and democratic victory,” Masalina-Mravinskaya said to resounding applause from the assembled delegates.

“Once more the patriotic forces of socialism have triumphed over national functionalism and reactionaryism. The Kurdyashov regime long abandoned the ideals of socialism, instead preferring to enrich themselves at the expense of the honest workers of Chervolesia. This was not a counter-revolution, but a fight to end bureaucratic despotism, a fight to restore the principles of democracy and socialism, and a fight that the honest Chervolesian revolutionary workers and peasants won.”

After her speech, the technical secretary formally denounced former Chairman, Chairwoman Zhzhyonova, and Technical Secretary Pozharskaya; declared the dissolution of “the national functionalist” Presidium of National Defence; formally acknowledged that the uprising was not counter-revolutionary in its nature, but was a “third revolution.”

Despite a new government, uncertainty still grips the nation. The forces of the People’s Liberation Army still remain divided and indecisive. Over the last 24 hours, units that had been originally deployed to quell the protests have either withdrawn entirely from the capital, or have joined the revolutionaries. Elsewhere in the country, reports of clashes between People’s Liberation Army Ground Forces units and People’s Defence Units continue to pour in.

Internationally, the country is still in the midst of crisis that appears to be drawing closer and closer to war. The Arucian Straits remain closed to all inbound and outbound Chervolesian shipping. It will remain to be seen whether the new Masalina-Mravinskaya government will return to the negotiating table with Satucin over the return of Mistral captain and first mate. Few, if any, of the protests demanded the two Satucine citizens be released, and many citizens continue to believe the Kurdyashov regime narrative that the Mistral was a Satucine spy vessel. While it may not be the “will of the people,” the continued economic hardship over the straits’ closure may yet force Chervolesia back to the negotiating table.

Co-Commissar Larion Tyushnyakov (l) met with Satucine Foreign Minister Maximilien Brisebois (r)
over the past week.

Volosovo, Chervolesia — After a four month long saga, the captain and chief mate of the seized Satucine freighter, the Mistral, are set to be repatriated as part of deal with Satucin.

Co-Commissar of Foreign Affairs Larion Tyushnyakov met with his Satucine counterpart, Maximilien Brisebois, over the course of last week. This was the first time that Chervolesia and Satucin have entered talks since 11 September when Satucin unilaterally broke off negotiations with Chervolesia.

Early Monday, it was announced that a deal was reached between the two governments. The deal entails the immediate release of Mistral Captain Henry Souchon and Chief Mate Emmanuel Carrell as well as an acquittal on all charges the two face, including espionage, and the reduction of Chervolesia’s maritime exclusion zone by 50%. In return, Sautcin will recognise the new boundaries of the maritime exclusion zone as part of Chervolesia’s economic exclusion zone and reopen the Arucian Straits to Chervolesian shipping.

The Mistral was seized by the People’s Liberation Army Navy on 30 July, after the ship entered Chervolesian territorial waters. After not answering any of the hails sent by the lead People’s Liberation Army Navy ship, the commanding and political officers of the two vessels voted unanimously to seize the freighter. The ship’s seizure was supported by both the People’s Commissariat of the Navy and the central government.

Following a seven day investigation into the seizure by the Main Intelligence Directorate, it was revealed that the ship was acting as a spy vessel for Satucin. On 6 August, the Judiciary charging Captain Souchon and Chief Mate Carrell with conspiracy to act against the people and republic of Chervolesia. The Satucine government has denied that the Mistral was a spy vessel in the aftermath of the Main Intelligence Directorate report being made public. The refusal of the Satucine government to admit the Mistral was a spy vessel became a sticking point as negotiations continued to fail and relations between Chervolesia and Satucin continued to deteriorate. On 11 September, Satucin withdrew from the negotiations and closed the Arucian Straits to all Chervolesian shipping.

The successful negotiations will largely be viewed as a victory by the two-month-old Post-Kurdyashov government. The nascent Masalina-Mravinskaya government was able to keep the maritime exclusion zone established by Security Directive 2019, albeit in a grossly reduced capacity, and was able to successfully negotiate the reopening of the Arucian Straits.

The straits being reopened to shipping is expected to have an immediate effect on the slumping Chervolesian economy. Their closure on 11 September resulted in the economic productivity for September, October, and November declining by an average of 7.1%, with October seeing the highest drop at 13.9%. The influx of foreign capital and material goods will help ease the burden of drastic and unstable planning and help bring about a sense of normalcy following the October Revolution.

The missile was tested successfully early this morning.

Aleksandrovka, Chervolesia — A strategic intercontinental ballistic missile test-fire was conducted successfully under the guidance of Vasilissa Masalina-Mravinskaya, Technical Secretary of the Council of People’s Commissars and Supreme Commander of the People’s Liberation Army. The supreme commander braved rainy conditions at the test site to personally oversee the test firing of the missile.

At 05.45, the supreme commander gave the order to start the test-firing of the missile. The test-fire was a resounding success and proved that all the tactical and technological specifications of the system correctly reached the preset indexes.

After the success of the test-firing, the supreme commander gave high praise to our young and talented national defence scientists, saying the missile is a “great weapon” and the scientists had performed “great work in advancing Socialism.” She went further declaring that the young and promising contingent of defence scientists are “a precious treasure and the wealth of the nation” and the Chervolesian-oriented defence industry will be “steadily developed and improved upon by talented scientists and technicians faithful to Chervolesian Socialism.”

Since the success of the test-fire, organisations from around the world have voiced their congratulations to the Commune of Working People of Chervolesia and its endeavours for the advancement of socialism.

The Nuxican Group for Solidarity and Cooperation with the Commune of Working People of Chervolesia issued a statement praising the paramount success of our Commune’s missile test. The Nuxican Group or Solidarity and Cooperation with the Commune of Working People of Chervolesia issued a warning to the National Functionists of the so-called “Euclean Community” and so-called “Asterian Forum for Development and Cooperation,” saying that the real Axis of Evil should recognise the strategic superiority of the Commune of Working People of Chervolesia.

Likewise, the Estmerish Preparatory Committee for Cooperation with the Commune of Working People of Chervolesia issued a statement declaring the success of the latest missile test by the Commune of Working People of Chervolesia as the “historic event that has successfully ended the social imperialist AFDC’s hostile policy towards the Commune of Working People of Chervolesia, which has lasted since the formation of the imperial alliance.”

The People’s Commissariat of Revolutionary Affairs expanded on both statements:

“Thanks to the success of our brave and talented scientists, the successful testing of the latest intercontinental ballistic missile greatly enhances the strategic strength of our People’s Liberation Army. With the latest missile added to our already greatly expanded arsenal, our Commune of Working People has shown to the world that the Commune is in possession of a strong, well-equipped, and well-disciplined military which no one would dare provoke. The success of the missile test further proves the technological prowess of Chervolesian-oriented Socialism compared to the backwards social imperialist methods of capitalism.

An important mission our defence industry takes up is to contribute to increasing national defence capabilities in every way so as to safeguard the revolution, country and people, and guarantee the final victory of the revolution to lead and promote the building of a powerful socialist nation. The successful test-fire of the ‘I-10’ missile is one more step to the defence industry achieving that mission.”

Today’s test-fire marks the five-year anniversary of the test of the RS-18 missile, and today’s success will forever mark 13 January as an unforgettably good day.

Co-Commissar Josyp Zakharchenko (R) met with Djedi Foreign Minister Girgis Qustantinos (L) on Friday.

Mina, Djedet — Co-People’s Commissar of Foreign Affairs Josyp Zakharchenko met with his Djedi counterpart, Foreign Minister Girgis Qustantinos, on Friday. The foreign visit is Chervolesia’s first to the country since 2013.

The topics that were scheduled to be discussed were reaffirming Chervolesian financial and technological support for the Bahian Council Republic, and discussing “new and emerging threats to Djedi sovereignty and AIS interests in the region.”

Co-People’s Commissar Zakharchenko arrived in Mina on Thursday, where he was greeted with full fanfare. On Friday, he met with Foreign Minister Qustantinos and Djedi General Secretary and President Tawadros Makarios for several hours. Following the meetings, it was made public that a deal had been reached between the two allies for the leasing of the Deir Anba Bishoy Airbase to Chervolesia for the next five years until 2020.

The Deir Anba Bishoy Airbase, located outside of the Djedi capital of Mina, is the largest airbase within the country of Djedet and is the flagship base for the Djedi Air Force. The lease makes Deir Anba Bishoy the first major Chervolesian overseas base located outside of core AIS members Swetania and Dezevau.

In addition to the lease, Chervolesia has pledged to continue its technology sharing and financial aid programme. In 2019, this amount totalled €89.10 billion, and is expected to increase by 33% for the 2020 fiscal year. Among the items covered under the programme include modernisation programmes for Djedi infrastructure and a 5-year agreement for the training of Djedi state police and officers of the Djedi Armed Forces by the People’s Liberation Army.

“Today marks the beginning of a new era of cooperation and friendship with the Bahian Council Republic,” Co-Commissar Zarkharchenko told the media in a joint press conference with Qustantinos.

“Our commitment to further support our revolutionary brothers and sisters in Djedet is paramount to the continued stability of Bahia. Djedet’s admission into the [AIS] was just one of several steps that have lent itself to the prosperity and stability of Djedet. The talks that have taken place here today will further build upon this foundation to safeguard a future where Bahia is free from the neo-imperialist and predatory [ROSPO] and [COMSED].”

The lease agreement and accompanying talks comes days after Tusania and the so-called “Union of Zorasani Irfanic Republics” announced they had reached an agreement for the former to lease a naval base to the so-called “UZIR.” The agreement, which undoubtedly served as the catalyst for the talks between Chervolesia and the Bahian Council Republic, gives the so-called “Union of Zorasani Irfanic Republics” unprecedented maritime projection capabilities.

So far, only Estmere has publicly responded to the Tusania lease deal; continuing further silence on Zorasani Imperialism by the greater “liberal” world.

The Chervolesian Men’s National Hockey Team won the gold medal, beating Gaullica 15-0

Ulan Khol, Narozalica — With the 2020 Invictus Games officially coming to a close, the brave and patriotic athletes of the Chervolesian Federation of Syndicates have claimed the ultimate victory in the games. Following the nation’s wins in the Mens’ and Womens’ Combined Skiing, the country’s gold medal total increases to 30, a new record for the Winter Invictus Games. This brings the overall medal count to 83 and a points total of 171 points, both Invictus Games records. The next nearest nation were the hosts Narozalica, who secured two gold, one silver, and one bronze medals, more than likely through nefarious means.

Through hard work and dedication to sport, the brave and patriotic athletes of our nation has showed the world the superiority of Chervolesian-oriented Socialism over the corrupt Imperialist and Social Functionalist cabals of the so-called “Euclean Community” and their puppets in Narozalica and Coius.

Following news of the Chervolesian victory at the 2020 Invictus Games, millions of patriotic citizens took to the streets throughout the country in celebration of our nation’s great victory. In recognition of this, Co-People’s Commissar of Culture and the Arts Vitalij Sergiyenko has declared Monday a state holiday, so that all of the country’s citizens can welcome the athletes’ return from Ulan Khol.

“The hard work and dedication of our athletes must be recognized,” People’s Commissar Sergiyenko told reporters.

“They have shown themselves to be role models that everybody should aspire to be like. Through dedication to their work, good sportsmanship, and Chervolesian-oriented Socialism, our national athletes have shown to the world that good athletic performance and Chervolesian-oriented Social go hand-in-hand.”

Many members of the Chervolesian public have expressed similar views as the honorable People’s Commissar Sergiyenko.

“Between the [January 13 Missile Test] and the Chervolesian victory at the 2020 Invictus Games, Chervolesia has shown the world that Socialism provides the best for everything.” One fan, who wished to remain anonymous, told Cherinform.

Since news of the great Chervolesian victory at the 2020 Invictus Games broke, hundreds of organizations around the world have voiced their congratulations to both the brave and patriotic Chervolesian athletes and populace.

The Narozalic Committee for the Cooperation of the Narozalic Republic and Chervolesian Federation of Syndicates told Cherinform the Chervolesian victory was “not just a victory for the Chervolesian Federation of Syndicates and Chervolesian-oriented Socialism, but was a victory for the entirety of the world’s hardworking and oppressed proletariat.”

A similar statement from the Zorasani Group for Solidarity and Cooperation with the Chervolesian Federation of Syndicates said “the victory at the 2020 Winter Invictus Games by the Chervolesian Federation of Syndicates will surely inspire the global proletariat to rise up against their capitalist oppressors.”

The Chervolesian athletes are set to return beginning tomorrow following the Closing Ceremonies.
