Abolitionist in law: The death penalty was abolished in 1896 and the last execution was also in 1896. It was abolished because the death penalty was overused during the Military Dictatorship (1886-1896), where countless innocent civilians were put to death brutally.

The death penalty remains on the books of the Empire. The last prisoner was executed 3 weeks ago, on schedule the next batch will see the firing squad in Cairo in a week.

Crimes punishable by death penalty in GSA are:
Dissent, fraud, spionage, murder (all deegres), assault on government officials and military, treason, believing in any kind of religion, corruption, and other 70 crimes which would make this a very long list

In theory, these are the crimes that lead to execution, but in fact any crime can lead to informal executions, as the police may do anything with criminals caught red-handed.

Most executions are carried out by firing squads composed of up to 40 soldiers. The prisoners, that can be up to 50, are tied side-to-side.

The dates and numbers of executions are redacted by the government, but it is estimated by intelligence agencies that the last execution happenned 1 week ago, and it is estimated that a number of 1000-4000 prisoners were executed in 1989 (we are a nation in the Cold war era)

All executions since 1957 require the Emperor to personally agree to the execution, and neither of the last two Emperors has exercised that power. The last execution was of the Nazi collaborator Charles Coughlin, who was executed by gas chamber in 1969. The government has carried out roughly 900,000 executions in its history, 94% of which were executions of Nazi Party members in Austria and Bavaria from 1943-1957.

Abolitionist in Practice.

According to the law of the land, death penalty is apply on any person that has committed serious crimes such as raping children or engage in child pornography, intentionally harming someone, conduct terrorist acts, commit corrupt activities as state officials, take actions that threatening the stability of the nation... gas chamber, firing line, posion injection are three common execution methods.

Although the law hasn’t change but executions became less frequent after Order 981 was implemented in 1984, with approvals of both the legislature and the monarch. Since then, all criminals sentenced to death shall instead be converted to living lab rats and be experimented upon by either governmental institutions or private enterprises.

The last execution was in March 2015, the criminal was a serial killer wanted by INTERPOL named Charal Soran. After murdered four Indochinese tourists in Nepal on September 2014, he immediately fled to India. The incompetency of Indian Police Service led to the intervention of both Section V and Section VI agents of Indochinese government, Charal was secretly brought to Indochina and later on, executed through gassing without trial.

Two years later, the story was revealed by the Indochinese officials, led to a strong condemnation of Grand Indochina from INTERPOL and the international community, especially from India. Charal’s ashes were returned to his family in Nepal on January 2020.

The Theocracy uses the death penalty for a wide variety of cases. Drug crimes, sex crimes, violent crimes, organized crime and gang activity, treason, gross incompetence in high positions, and high heresy all qualify. When convicted, the guilty party is executed within minutes of the trial ending, usually via single gunshot and immolation of the corpse. There are around 2,200 executions carried out every year.

It should be noted that the desires of the victims are paramount, and with the wide capability and variety of techniques and powers under the Church's control, victims may opt for a vast array of alternate punishments.

Death penalty is seen as murder here, period. The government can only dispense three punishments: 1) mandatory therapy, 2) community service, 3) detention in a rehabilitation center no longer than twenty years. So even "life in prison" is not a thing here.

The death penalty is seen as contradictory in our culture. We value life. We see the death penalty as, "We're going to murder you to show everyone how much we don't like murder in our nation!"

The death penalty exists, and is used most often as a punishment for murder, rape, or sexual abuse, as well as large-scale attempted murder- such as poisoning a water supply, although all of these are case-by-case. Death by firing squad is a thing here, and private death by firing squad is actually considered one of the most humane forms of capital punishment. The Pacomian government only collects statistics for death penalty every 3 years, and in the period between May 26th, 2016 and May 26th, 2019 a total of 11 people received the death penalty. This would suggest that 3 or 4 people are killed via death penalty every year. The last time someone received the death penalty in Pacomia was August 7th, 2019, as punishment for the murder of Acemet Hašimi and Dasco Peseticos by Jaco Sepnetanebmi.

The death penalty is used in the Republic of Strahcoin - both in practice and in law. Lethal injection is used.

Executions apply for:
  • Murder (this includes abortion)
  • Rape
  • Treason
  • Terrorism
The current year (2049 A.D.) has seen around at least 3-20 executions take place in this nation (at least one was reported on STRAH NEWS). Roughly around 87 executions took place in 2048 A.D.

Rwizikuru still maintains the death penalty, with all offenses punishable by death in the common law of 1946 (when we gained independence from Estmere) remaining punishable by hanging.

It is one of the few nations in Kylaris to still practice public executions, although they are infrequent, and usually only for either high treason, first-degree murderers, or sexual crimes.

Saxonia-Venedia retains the death penalty. It is the mandatory penalty for murder, sexual offences against children under 13, and conspiracy against inviolable persons (the person of the emperor and his family).

In times of war, capital crimes under military law (and therefore not enforceable upon civil subjects of the State) include mutiny, misconduct in the face of the enemy, desertion, aiding the enemy, espionage, murder, rape, and insubordination. The method of execution for civil penalties is 'the avenging sword', i.e. decapitation, and in military matters, firing squad.

The last execution was in 2019. There were 21 executions in 2018.

Annaterra did not follow the trend in the 60s and 70s of countries abolishing the death penalty, and has explicitly maintained it. Being an authoritarian and conservative state, maintained in the example of pre-1990s South Africa, it is typically used to suppress groups who are not in favour of the authoritarian government.

The death penalty is the mandatory sentence for murder, abortion of a foetus occasioning murder, voluntary familial manslaughter, incest, rape of an infant or a child aged thirteen or younger, unnatural rape of a man or male minor and bestiality.
To recieve the death penalty, a convict must be an adult aged eighteen or older who has the mental age of an adult, must possess sound mind and have had sound mind at the commission of a capital crime. A pregnant convict is spared the death penalty until after she has given birth.
A convict who is judged to have become mentally incapacitated does not recieve sentence of death and is instead detained indefinitely in a secure psychiatric facility until, having regained mental capacity, the convict is punished with incarceration for at least thirty years before becoming eligible for parole.
A capital conviction that rests on only two of the three trial judges ruling that guilt has been established beyond all reasonable doubt carries an automatic ruling that the sentence must be upheld or commuted by the ProConsul, the constitutional Head of State.
The most recent sentences of death were executed in 2018. A rapist was hanged at the gallows in an open area within a penitentiary before members of the general public including journalists and the relatives of his victim, a sixteen-year-old boy whom he trained athlectically in his position as a physical training instructor at a seminary academy; the man had raped him after inviting him to dinner at his home. His original acquital was based on a defence in which it was proven the plaintiff had corresponded text messages of an indecent nature with the man, whose previous good character was attested by many people in his public and private lives; instead he was convicted of committing one count of statutory sexual assault and incarcerated for seven years.
His victim's subsequent decision to lift his legal anonymity and publicly denounce his rapist in explicit terms encouraged two men to speak out about illicit relationships the trainer had had with them when they were his students; the public scandal created a strong reaction of public opinion which compelled the Premier Minister to enact legislation to abolish the law of double jeopardy for capital crimes. The trainer was in the second year of his incarceration for statutory sexual assault when he was tried and convicted of committing Unnatural Rape, and hanged.
It was one of three executions of sentences of death in that year, and they were all carried out together at midday on 'Gallows Day', one of two Saturdays of the year when executions of death sentences passed in the last six months are carried out simultaneously. The other two involved a conviction of an illegal self-abortion of a foetus at thirteen weeks of gestation and a conviction of familial manslaughter.

Death penalty is abolished by law since the foundation of the Republic, in 1981, except for crimes that must be tried through a Military Judge, such as war crimes and crimes against the sovereignty of the Nation. Nevertheless, nobody has been executed since that year. Before the foundation of the Republic, the last executions were in 1975, while the Canary Islands (now a State of the Republic) were yet under Francoist Spain's dominion.

Law on Death Penalty provides that sentence to death penalty involves four tribunals. The first one is in charge of the investigation, including accused's statements. The other three tribunals must deliberate without making any contact amongst them, even indirectly.

The accused is sentenced to death penalty if the three tribunals agree by majority of two-thirds, or if two tribunals agree by unanimity and the third one does by majority of three-fifth.

If the accused is sentenced to death penalty, he can appeal before the Military Courtroom of the Highest Court.

If finally he is sentenced, he has the right to choose one amongst three death penalty methods. All of them must be painless or pain can't be mortifying. In any case, time from the sentence to the execution must be not greater than seven days.

The execution is defrayed by the Budget of the Ministry of Justice.

ALLOWED FOR:
- Premeditated murder
- Rape (though sometimes a good lawyer can get a rapist castration, life in prison, and/or a lifetime on the sex registry list)
- Treason in wartime (though treason in peacetime gets you life in prison)
- War crimes
- Child molestation
- Medical professionals who perform or assist in the performing of abortions

Carried out by the electric chair. We had 1 child molester, 1 rapist, and 2 abortionists executed last year.

It's hard to say with Hadin, in recent years.

In the earlier days, Hadin used to be all about the death penalty. Murder conviction? Death. Rape conviction? Death. Blasphemy? Treason? Homosexuality? Death, death, and death.

Nowadays, it depends on the crime. Murder and treason charges are still very likely to get you killed via a hanging or by being shot. Rape (in so far as when Hadin actually considers the rape to be a crime) and apostasy are -technically- capital offenses, but unlikely to actually get you a capital sentence. Other crimes, like blasphemy and homosexuality, are no longer considered capital charges by any standard of current Hadinian law (blasphemy will get you jail time, while homosexuality is increasingly being treated like a mental illness and may see you detained in a psychiatric institution).
Just so you know, this nation, in character, is a highly sexist, highly theocratic, and highly authoritarian state. (Though under the new guy, it seems to be improving a little).

I disagree with a lot of what this nation stands for. It was invented for its intrigue and ample opportunities for satire, not for its ideals.
