Adalzica is rentionist by law, and the most recent execution took place on May 19, 118 L.E.

The death penalty remains in law for murder, drug trafficking, human trafficking, treason, kidnapping, rape, bestiality, and espionage.

The death penalty is a common punishment for murder; as mentioned previously, the most recent execution took place on May 19, 118 L.E. This was the execution of Kartuse Loka, a murderer of six men in 95 L.E. During William Roony's governance, abortion has been banned and is considered murder by law - meaning it is punishable by the death penalty. However, no person who has requested or performed an abortion has been executed so far.

The death penalty is almost always used for traitors; and it is common for large drug and human traffickers, although not so much for an average small drug dealer. For the other crimes, the use of the death penalty is more restricted and it is more common to give life in prison or a long prison sentence.

Migli is abolitionist except if a state of military emergency is declared
In that case the death penalty is used for people who committed war crimes or other crimes that harm the sovereignty of the nation and its allies.
The death penalty can only be applied if a military tribunal has sentenced it, and if the military council, the lower house and upper house pass the sentencing by 2/3rds majority, and if the supreme court approves it. The accused can then appeal once against the sentencing.

The general use of execution has been abolished in 1938 and the last execution happened in 1934 by firing squad.

The current method of execution would be firing squad.

The only crimes that can potentially cause the death penalty:

1. Raping and/or abusing children.
2. Killing more than one person (who don’t live together) and try to conceal evidence.
3. Serial killers will suffer big time.
4. Assassinating a major figure.

In 2045 Alinghi abolished life imprisonment sentence, and the maximum sentence that you can be condemned is 25 years of imprisonment (15 if when you commutted the crime you was under 18 years old).

Until 1912: 8 death sentence a year in median.
1940-1946: 10 death senteces
2003- 2004: 1 death sentence (but in death row was over 1 200, they will not executed because the king's government didn't have time to permorm the execution)

The Empire retains the use of capital punishment in law and in practice. It is law in every Imperial Realm and the most recent lawful execution was carried out on January 22, 2017 AD (for context it is currently 2024 AD).
The Imperial Realms use capital punishment at their own discretion, however Imperial or Royal; only Capital Crimes may see the use of capital punishment as being applicable to the criminal. Capital crimes are defined in Imperial Law as rape, sexual assault, murder, treason, espionage and drunk driving. The only legal method of execution in the Empire is variable drop hanging. Once convicted the execution is to be carried out within the year, there is no appeal to the magistrate's decision.

Abolitionist except for exceptional circumstances

The death penalty in Tamgu has always been an extremely rare decision. Currently, the law doesn't completely prohibit death penalty. It allows the death penalty in extreme cases like treason during war and serial murder/rape. The death penalty is considered a punishment too big to be decided by a judge, so the parliament votes on whether they should penalize the criminal. The last time a death penalty was given in Tamgu is May 21st, 2001. The criminal had killed a total of 87 confirmed women and children across the country. The parliament voted 475 for and 5 against the death penalty. He was shot non-publicly.

Total number of death penalties:
41 recorded death penalties in the Tamguna Kingdom,
32 death penalties in the Great Goranian War
3 death penalties after GGW

Reasons:
Treason during war (During peace it is only punished by a prison sentence)
Serial Murder/Rape
Attempting War crimes (Genocide, Illegal weapons, WMD's etc.)
Escaping death penalty in another country (someone who somehow flees to Tamgu after being given death penalty will be punished by it.)

Methods:
Shooting
Poison injection
Hanging
Lethal electrical shocks
Feeding to sharks (Happened only once at 1727, criminal got thrown into the sharks publicly.)
Public Lynching (Sometimes the kingdom couldn't bother and let the people do it)

Tamgu became Democratic after 1797. Before that, it was a kingdom.

Mandatory death penalty for drug trafficking and treason. Execution by hanging in most cases, undergoing switch to nitrogen asphyxiation.
Optional death penalty in place for murder, arson, espionage, arms trafficking, sodomy, pedophilia. In practice only used for aggravated crimes of this sort. Last execution for non-pedophilic sodomy in 2009.
Death penalty in place for rape and adultery in aggravated cases only. Rare in the extreme civilians to face the death penalty for these crimes.
In the military, desertion, insubordination, corruption, drug use, and sabotage are eligible for the death penalty.
Civilians sentenced to die are usually hanged or beheaded, although nitrogen asphyxiation is slated to replace both methods. Military service members are shot. Diopolis has an average of 125 executions per year, most for drug trafficking.

The death penalty is in place in Kaliwawi for crimes such as homicide, assault, sexual assault, grand larceny, home invasion, rioting, looting, and treason. The less severe crimes are usually punished instead with redemptive labour except in cases of recidivism, when the nature of the crime is particularly offensive, or if the defendant is a person in a position of authority over others. For example, it is common practice to give the death penalty to offending law enforcement officers or military personnel, especially those higher in the chain of command, for crimes for which civilians would be given more leniency. The principal means of execution are firing squad and, less commonly, hanging.

We are abolitionist as prescribed by law. It was an unwritten rule of the legislative that Reō would not sentence any citizen or offender under its jurisdiction to death, until the dawn of the 20th century when the law was officially codified in the 1904 Act on Cruel and Unusual Punishment, a bill that forms one of the foundations of the country’s Charte des Droits de la Citoyën.

Death penalty is in Ulvena for sex trafficking, child molestation, serial rape, serial murder, or treason/desertion during war. Murder and rape can be given the death penalty but is less common. There are no laws against cruel and unusual punishment, however, it is not common to prescribe cruel punishments and it is seen as a violation of the clause of mercy to draw out deaths beyond that which is fit for the method of execution (e.g: hangings are long drop, firing squads are ordered to aim for the heart and head or given large caliber rounds to ensure the destruction of the heart/brain). Most common method of execution is hanging, which encompasses more than 90% of executions. Soldiers, officers, or veterans who commit an act of treason or desertion and are deemed still honorable to a degree are offered a firing squad. Those who die in this manner are still recognized as warriors of honor.

Crimes punishable by death that are committed against children or the disabled are considered the highest moral ill and are thereby punishable by more "old fashioned" methods such as stoning or burning at the stake. While rare, it is broadcast publicly. The victims (families if victim is unavailable) may appeal the death sentence to hanging at any point before the day of execution via letter, email, or personal presence.

Abolitionist in Law

The Death Penalty is outlawed in our constitution and no one has, or ever shall be formally executed for any crime, at least in theory anyways. In practice its mostly true, however, in the event of say, an active shooter, then police forces are allowed to use deadly force, if no other option is available. If the shooter is killed, then that could be seen as, in a way, a form of execution. Though, those circumstances are rare, and when they happened, the officer responsible is held under formal review to insure that there truly was no there option. This has been an issue that has been brought up to our courts, and they have ruled that, so long as there was no there was no other option to detain them, then it was a form of self defense, and NOT an execution. Despite that ruling however, any dog killed by police always sparks some level of discontent as it is pretty rare.

ABOLITIONIST IN LAW

The United Communes of the Philippines, in its intensified efforts of nationwide decentralization, has advocated for the complete and indefinite prohibition of the death penalty and all other forms of capital punishment. The 2007 Constitution revokes any entity and/or authority to implement and practice the death penalty, referring to the exercise as "...inhumane and a violation to basic human rights..." (Article II, §3.c). The most severe sentence the Court is able to impose over a guilty convict is the revocation of their citizenship, but is strictly applicable to any person primarily involved in national corruption and other major politico-economic scandals. The last use of this punishment was on the former Director of Communal Defense Ma. Gloria Nepomuceno, whom in 2014 was charged of leading a wide-scale espionage on the Body of Directors for the US Central Intelligence Agency.

Retentionist for a number of crimes.
Keep in mind that in Vegaslovakia, people aren't executed for things they did when they were younger than 25 years of age. This is due to brain development. Also, people may be immune from the death penalty if they were held under false imprisonment for years on end after they did a crime punishable by death. They would definitely be immune from the death penalty if they were held under false imprisonment for years on end before committing a crime punishable by death. People are also immune from being executed if they became or were born intellectually disabled before committing such a crime.
That being said...

Murder or sexual abuse of any kind of a child. Not only a human child, but also non-human animals who haven't reached adulthood.
False imprisonment.
Burning forests or other habitats where non-humans are supposed to be left alone. Also, any method of clearing these habitats out besides burning with the knowledge that there are still non-human animals living aboveground in that area.
Rape of any human 8 or more years younger than you, even if they aren't children.
Bestiality.
Being a pimp.
Torture of non-human animals.
Turning people into slaves, even if they weren't turned into prostitutes. You'd just get even less mercy if you were a pimp.
Murder of (an) (ex-)prostitute(s). The only reason the 'ex-' is placed in parenthesis would be if the Vegaslovakian government tried to free a prostitute from their slavery but failed.
Murder due to racism, sexism, or some other arbitrary category to discriminate upon besides the victim being a psychopath. Also, murder out of speciesism (murder as a legal term isn't exclusive to humans in Vegaslovakia. It is exclusive to Animalia.)
Being an inciter of anti-animal rights speech and not just partaking in it. 'Inciting' is determined by the courts.
Being hopelessly insubordinate while being a psychopath in one of the labor camps reserved for psychopaths.

Any kind of execution that matches the crime, as found by the courts, is allowed - as long as it doesn't use non-human animals, such as the victim being tossed in a tank of water full of sharks. The current year in-universe is 2006.
During last year (2005), 200,521 executions took place. So far, 96,186 executions have taken place in 2006.

Before I forget, all cases involving the death penalty need to have hard evidence tied to them in order for an execution to go through. Both evidence of who the perpetrator is and that the crime was intentional.

Capital punishment has been forbidden in San Cristobal since independence was granted from the United Kingdom in 1964 and the ban is constitutionally enshrined.

The last execution to occur in the territory of San Cristobal occurred in 1951. At the time of independence and the abolishment of capital punishment, all individuals on death row had their sentences commuted to life imprisonment.

The death penalty was formally abolished by the United Nations Alliance (the precursor to the United Earth Government) in 2075 shortly before the start of the Eugenics War, the last execution in UNA territory was the execution of a serial killer in the United States of America in 2073. During the war the various Augment states executed unknown millions for "treason" as the war turned against them. The last execution to occur on Earth was in 2088 at the end of the Eugenics War 3 months prior to the ratification of the Geneva Accord which formed the United Earth Government.
