The aesthetic inspiration will be an eclectic mix of indigenous American and Siberian cultures to create a handful of cohesive groups through selective use of the source material. There will exist a common religious overlay over the entirety of the group, as aforementioned relating to a holy view of water in its various forms, taking inspiration as well from Siberian shamanism and indigenous American religious traditions in bits and pieces, as well as a fair amount of confaith. An example of the different ways that cultures will utilize the common overlay is that highlanders shall engage in terrace farming and revere fleeting rains and clouds with rituals reflecting such, while those in arid steppe or tundra might focus on the oasis or the river, and while the former might see death as a sort of frozen mummification and sky burial, the latter would view it as desiccation, and the swamp/marsh dwellers would think instead of the black sludge and a cycling back into the land itself. Linguistically, the Ob-Ugric languages are prevalent, with various dialects of Khanty and Mansi.
  • Country Overview: Starting in ancient days with early urban civilizations, the majority of the population remains nomads, hunter-gatherers, and herders for much of history, roaming in the space between clusters of settlement and living in an almost symbiotic relationship with them. Each begins to develop an independent tradition from their common roots, but these first start to unify with the rise of two major kingdoms. These two kingdoms compete with one another, for influence over nomads and the dominance of trade, as well as militarily. These rival kingdoms peak around late antiquity/early middle ages, with odd conquerors uniting the lands only to collapse shortly thereafter. The first hints of true unity form when a nomadic prophet roams the lands, bringing communities in touch and in communion with one another, and from his teachings a group of new shamans come to hold a sort of soft-dominance over most groups. This is upset in the 18th century or so, but in the face of encroaching foreign presence and the rise of global enterprises, the Rotsir find resilience, and a great peacemaker begins to unite the disparate clans into a cohesive union. This lays the foundations for the modern country, which survives in the modern age with a renewed sense of common identity.

    - various sumptuary laws, originating from the sacredness of water but also just kind of getting all over the place
    - claim that language originates from the priesthood/water
    - pacifistic belief, e.g. that anyone who kills is cursed unless they have special status to allow it, and excepting suicide
    - resulting from this, sacrifices take the form of being forced to suicide, the usual worst punishment is exile
    - lots of stone architecture with arches and aqueducts and stuff for the temples and such

    Culturally its a smattering of various southern-slavic equivalents (primarily serbian analogues) alongside significant populations of ethnic groups like brillanian-hungarians, osevan-poles, and russian/ukrainian analogues from dulebia if allowed.

    Language is likely the same, with the state language likely being a hybrid of a serbo-russian analogue and the next highest cultural population, especially considering state programs to create a unified language and ur-culture.

    Religion-wise I haven't yet determined the majority religion, but due to possible neighbors likely there's some underground ditanery traditions and marists in there somewhere, but the state itself would be 'encouraging' secularist worldviews and likely oppressing the ones that cause too much trouble.

  • Culture: majority German (High, Mid and Low dialects historically?) with several recognized minority groups, such as Russians, Cumans and others
  • Country Overview: Finstria is a country located in eastern Hesuria, bordered by Mascylla to the north and Krumlau to the west.
    It is a fairly rural country with about ⅔ of the population living in towns with less than 100,thousand inhabitants, though the remainder is mostly concentrated in much bigger cities, three million people living alone in the capital city, Tanaus, and the surrounding metropolitain area.
    The economy of rural areas and smaller cities is mostly based on agriculture, fishery or the processing thereof, the country being a major exporter of food. In some regions, forestry is also present. In urban areas, there historically was a lot of industry, though it has declined in favour of a growing service sector.
    I’d imagine Finstria to be in the EU and in general cooperate a lot with its Hesurian neighbours and nations beyond. Together with Mascylla and Krumlau, it could form a Dreibund.
    Throughout the 20th century, there were a lot of abuses of so-called “emergency powers”, essentially using the constitution to disable itself for an undefined period of time. As for earlier history, that would have to be worked out, mostly with my neighbours - and there is a lot of places to start; Cumans, religion, the exclave in Kai’s nation...

  • Culture: A multi-ethnic country, Sekir is dominated by the !turkic people in land area and profound cultural influence with a mostly mixed people. The most populous ethnic group is the western !turks, !hungarians and the various !caucasian groups. Tengrism(or something like it) is widespread among all groups. Most of the country is bilingual, with the lingua franca being kazakh-based through diverse regional dialects.

    Other prominent groups would be some mongols, siberians and russians.
  • Country Overview:
    Sekir is a large country stretching west to east across the rolling, barren steppes of the continent. This vast, cold country has its origins in the early expansive !turkic people, nomads who journeyed the steppes in large, warring clans. By the 8th century, however, most of the clans were united under a growing empire, the Kötdar Khaganate.

    By the 9th century, the empire had spread from the central steppes, to the west and east, launching attempted invasions of Erdara, Pomria and Aussia. After Kötdar’s collapse due to civil war, the 11th century progressed as another great warring period. In the west bordering Erdara, the !turks developed several thriving princely states, coming into conflict with their steppe brethren. Throughout the next centuries there were the rise of several rivaling Khaganates, mostly centered around controlling east-west trade.

    Throughout the 13th to 16th centuries many empires and kingdoms would rise to prominence in the west and east, rivaling turkic, georgian, hungarian and russian kingdoms in the west particularly. The east dominated by many central khanates.

    Sekir had expanded in the west, conquering neighboring princely khanates, and contesting countries in Erdara and Pomria. Later throughout the 17th century, Sekir would focus on reviving Kötdari glory and expanding along the central steppe. In the 19th century Sekir expanded by way of industrialization and railroads, annexing territory deeper into the siberian waste, while fighting the local people.

    The Khaganate has endured well into the 20th and 21st centuries, though with increasingly waning power and relevance. The Khagan is practically ceremonial, with the Kurultai acting as an authoritarian council wielding executive powers. This isn’t new, the land has always had Khagan’s and their power has always shifted between absolute and ceremonial since the beginning. However there is now a “High Kurultai” and “Common Kurultai”, the High being hereditary, mostly among those with granted and noble titles. The Common Kurultai are representatives elected by the masses. Commonly, Sekir touts itself as meritocratic as one with a distinguished career could gain a title and nomination for the High Kurultai, however has played out more as nepotist(ofcourse).

    Since the early 20th century, nationalist ideology has permeated Sekir. The civil war of the mid-century saw the victory and the rise of right-wing nationalist, by the 1970s however domestic political discontent would reach its height. The Summer Revolution saw mass protest and the eventual overthrow of the tyrannical demagogue, Nazer. What came was nearly two decades of junta rule with a dramatic crackdown on protest and separatist ethnic groups. Under increasing national tensions, and the death of leading General Baltabek Khan, liberal reform was sought and over the next ten years, the High and Common Kurultai would be established in closely monitored elections. In 2020, tensions are still high with the autocratic Kuraltai trying to maintain a grip and balance geopolitical demands, as a new wave of uprising is on the horizon…

    The modern state ideology adheres to the tengrist religion as any good Khaganate, using the Khagan to legitimize the Kuraltai’s power and maintaining of the ‘empire’. Divine rule.

Culture itself will be a conculture largely drawn of Egypt and the Horn of Africa without Arabic (Muslim) or Christian influence. Linguistically, Falle will mostly echo Ethiopia but with the addition of Swahili and Hausa in the north and south respectively. Religion is a conreligion based around heliolatry and the worship of four elements: fire, earth, air, and water. The White Sun cult is the current state endorsed interpretation of the conreligion, and is considered heterodox due to the sole focus on the sun and fire.
  • Country Overview: Falle has one of the longest histories of any country, tracing its heritage back to the 30th century BCE. Considered a cradle of civilisation, Ancient Falle saw some of the earliest developments of writing, agriculture, urbanisation, organised religion and central government. The Towa Necropolis, !Great Sphinx, and !Valley of Kings are iconic monuments of this period and remain a significant focus of scientific interest and popular interest in the modern day. The Lower Kingdoms of the Hawadi river would be conquered by the expanding Mekale kingdom in the 2500s BCE, beginning the dynastic period of Fallene history. Mekale would last until 320 CE, when famine and civil unrest would see the kingdom splinter into several city-states situated along the Hawadi. In the following centuries, various city-states would make attempts at reunifying Falle under their hegemony. The city-state of Falle, at the time controlled by Boru I, would begin a military campaign to unite the former Mekale Kingdom starting in 1220. In 1238, Falle would succeed, and Bornu would be crowned Emperor of Falle in 1238.

    Political instability throughout the 17th and 18th centuries resulted in rebellions in the declining Fallene state. Geteye ye'Asrat, an army commander and follower of the heterodox White Sun cult, and several other sympathetic military commanders and clergy would rebel and establish the modern Fallene state in a rebellion later known as the Hierophany. In 1792, Geteye would be declared Solar Hegemon by the inaugural Convocation of the Sun. In repayment for loyalty, Geteye would crown major rebel commanders as "kings," and would be made military governors upon the White Sun cult's victory. Throughout 19th century, Falle would consolidate power in eastern [Subcontinent]. During this time, an expansive socio-political structure would be developed, under which military governors would be eventually replaced by state ministers. Falle would reach its territorial height during this period, encompassing the majority of eastern and northern [Continent]. Beginning in the late-19th century, the nation underwent rapid industrialisation and moderate westernisation during the Fallene reconstruction. Reconstruction would reach its zenith during the turn of the 20th century.

    The nation's economy is considered to be state capitalist with a large manufacturing industry. It has an estimated worth of $6.3 trillion in natural resources, 70% of which are various hydrocarbon deposits and rare earth metals. The state has attracted criticism from [Democracy Watchdog] and various human rights group for its lack of political freedoms, usage of torture on dissidents, discrimination against members of the LGBT+ community, and use of the capital punishment. Falle has consistently ranked poorly in human rights, freedom of the press, and income equality.

In terms of religion, the population is split into a majority following a death cult religion (see discord), and followers of the Hoghul (Similian religion) in the country's north, and smaller Ditanist minority, at proportions about 60%-25%15%. Due to historic reasons, the country will have some Lavarian influence on its culture, as well as greek (see Overview). Currently the country highly resembles North African nations like Tunisia and Algeria, by mixing bedouin, Arab and European traditions, while having completely different religions and cultures in close proximity.
  • Country Overview: I see several historical eras for this country:
  • Early antiquity: formation of small city-states of the coastal area, which start developing naval trade with Cardia, being renowned as excellent sailors. Later, their unification, around 1000 BCE. The slow formation of the modern religion, wars with neighbours in the area. Construction of temples, mostly ziggurats, in the TBN river valley, the golden age of this state comes around 500 BCE
  • Classical Antiquity: occupation by the Greeks in the 2nd century BCE (colonisation is also possible but full Roman-type occupation is preferable and requested). The first western influence on the state.
  • Late Antiquity to High Middle Ages: centuries of Greek prosperity come to an end. Various tribes, sharing a common religion, advance from the deserts and form a single more centralized state around al-Hamada. Formation of a new Khalifate. The Khalifate expands to the north, reaching Oseva and advancing into Cardia, and to the south to North Africa. It would spread the religion to the area, influencing all other states. This can help future applicants since they can adapt the religion for themselves, or have their religions borrow some traditions from the death cult and vice versa (like in the case of Hoghul). This Khalifate, however, will last no longer than 100 years, and would eventually break up into numerous decentralized states by the High Middle Ages. In the same time, countries like Lavaria could start their colonisation of the region.
  • Late Middle Ages to Continental War: The area would remain under the control of the emirs, being only a weak remnant of the past Khalifate, suffering from constant inner instability and civil wars, until being colonised by a western power, most probably Lavaria, in 1700s. Another, and more interesting, in my opinion, variant is to make it Arlyonish colony, and have an allied-supported riot during the civil war, which eventually goes out of control and the nation is granted independence after the CW, or a prolonged revolution and civil war with a foreign intervention that again leads to independence. The Lavaria variant calls for inner instability directly post-CW, again leading to independence in the 20s. Which variant will be chosen, in case the country is accepted, I will decide depending on interest of other players in participating.
  • Recent history: the country establishes itself as absolute monarchy after independence. This monarchy lasts for several decades until another period of instability hits the country in the 70s. With foreign aid from socialist states, a civil war starts, and power is taken by a royalist dictator, with big political and ethnical repressions following. The dictator ruled until the early 2000s, forming a strong cult of personality. His oppressive politics held the diverse state together, however, the country remained pretty closed to foreign business. After his death and the fall of the oppressive regime, another civil war started in 2004-2009, that in the end was put to an end by the dictator's successor, with foreign aid (could be used as a local Syrian civil war, without ISIS, scenario in case there's interest) Since then the country tries to open to the other world, started to exploit its tourist potential and exports oil and gas to cardia, while in the same using its potential of cheap labour force to attract western companies and developing its destroyed industry. Still, it suffers from internal instability and is still an authoritarian regime, with religious oppression taking place in its isolated areas from time to time.

    Speaking about geography, most of the country is a desert with an arid climate. The north is mountainous, with low mountains and hills on the border with Mask's multi. The northern coast of the country has Mediterranean climate, and a distinguishable feature are several big salt lakes in the heart of the country.

    Economically-wise, the basic idea was shown in history, all the details will be determined, but tourism and light industry are the biggest sectors, with fossil fuel exports and heavy industry being second-biggest.

  • Country Overview: Erytheria is a unitary parliamentary elective monarchy located on the Erytherian Archipelago at the southern point of Cardia, consisting of five main islands. The country is headed by the Prince, who is elected from the nobility to serve a life term by an electoral college consisting of nobles, clergy, local government representatives, trade union representatives, employers' representatives, university representatives and the members of the Ecclesia.

    The Prince, currently Princess Katerina I, still carries significant power over the nation and has veto powers over legislation and the ability to dissolve the legislature and dismiss ministers, yet these powers are seldom used. A large amount of the nation's political power in the modern day lies in the Ecclesia, an elected body of 235 representatives which is largely responsible for initiating and passing legislation, and the Prytaneis, which serves as the nation's executive and consists of ministers chaired by the Epistates, who serves as head of government. The Ecclesia has largely been dominated by the paternalistic conservative Social Rally party, of which the current Epistates Andreios Argyris is a member, yet other parties such as the anti-establishment, populist Movement for Erytheria and the left-wing Communities Party have also had strong presences in the legislature in recent years.

    Erytherian society is a fundamentally rather traditionalist one; the nation retains a highly stratified social system in which a class of nobility hold disproportionate wealth and influence, and one in which religious belief and teachings and the traditional family unit play a large role. This combines with a dirigiste and corporatist economic structure, in which the state directs large amounts of the economy, owning key stakes in major industrial sectors and utilities, owning large parts of monopolies in many important sectors and retains economic planning committees to co-ordinate the economy in other areas such as agriculture. Furthermore, tripartite negotiation between employers and trade unions plays a major role in the economy.

The bulk of the Dashi are Muridin, but there is an increasing culture of secularism in most major cities. Around 30% of the population is ethnically Akkadian (Siphrian), most of which also practices Īnu Ebēbim.
  • Country Overview: Dashistan was first a part of Qalea and was conquered during the 14th century. While under Qalean rule, the population converted to Muridinism and adopted various Qalean customs and influences. During the 18th century, it was annexed by Siphria. Ethnic Siphrians migrated to the region, which had little autonomy. Following a series of uprisings that were successfully defeated during the late 19th century, Dashistan was awarded status as an autonomous region of Siphria. The region was plagued by a separatist insurgency that first began in the 1980s. After nationalists took over the regional government in 2015, the autonomous province formally declared independence from Siphria. It was supported by Qalea and Kodesh and has been de facto independent since 2016. Some Dashi territory is still occupied by Siphria, while some is held by monarchist forces loyal to Qalea (See map). There is still an ongoing debate over the future of the country and the form of government it will eventually adopt. It is currently run by a coalition of secularists and nationalists, and the parliamentary opposition is a mix of religious, monarchist, and minority-interest parties.

  • Culture: The country is mainly Maori, Ethnically, Culturally and Linguistically. There is a sizeable minority of Tiwi People who have been at conflict at various points with the Maori majority. The country is officially Atheist although much of the population practices traditional Polynesian religions.
  • Country Overview: Pukene is a Unitary Socialist Republic governed by the People's Central Committee. Although officially existing as a unified state since 1477 the current regime only took power in 2017 following a 12 year long civilwar between the Monarchists, Republicans, Socialists and the Lalell people. Before that the nation had been governed by the Monarchy since it's founding. Pukene had a period of Parliamentary Democracy from 1963 to 2005 when Parliament was suspended upon the outbreak of the civilwar. Throughout it's history Pukene has been influenced by powers from Cardia, Erdara and Hallania although it has never been colonised by any nation.

    Currently the Lalell militants have continued a guerrilla war against the Puki government including attacks on the regional PCC. The Island of Lalellrea is currently off limit's to westerners with travel restrictions since 2018. The capital city of Waiparangi was almost entirely destroyed during the civil war along with other major cities and there is currently a reconstruction project happening across the country to stimulate economic growth.

Nation has three official languages: Aussonian (Romance conlang), Portuguese, and Italian.
  • Country Overview: Latinate tribes existing since antiquity. Developed cultural quirks that saw women have increased rights and social status. Conquered by the !Greeks and later Setentrians. More concrete gender roles developed that basically boil down to reading/writing/sciences/arts are feminine, while leadership and other "aggressive pursuits" are seen as purely masculine. Post-Setentria, kingdom developed and converted to Ditanery. Generic middle age stuff would happen. Marius I would be invited to be the monarch in 1619 and Aussonia would be annexed into Cornicae. Nation would declare its independence in 1919. Hallanic monarchy (or any monarch ig) would be invited to rule the newly independent kingdom. Modern history tbd.

    Politics is fairly generic constitutional monarchy although like in Finium, the Cardic model would be used for the monarchy.

Since then it has been a minor player in global politics, mainly attempting to maintain independence and its electoral democracy whilst going through persistent economic struggles.

  • Culture: Being a confederation, Abria is multi-ethnic and multi-lingual, the major ethnicites and cultures are Portugese, Catalan, Galician and Corsican. As for religion, I will refer to regional lore in that part of Cardia. Tradition and culture play a significant role in the major groups, the smaller groups include Italians, Arlyonish and Occitans (due to the shared border)
  • Country Overview: Abria is a confederation of eight states, each with a high degree of autonomy and independence from the central government. It was formed in wake of a possible Cardian !1848 revolution, in which the nascent four republics united into a loose confederation to preserve their new found democracy from aggressive counter-revolutionary monarchies. Over time this loose confederation evolved, consolidated and centralised, aided by a mutual celebration of democracy, liberty, reason and shared cultural similarities. These cultural similarities grew and evolved during the late 19th century with a cultural supremacism around liberty and justice becoming prominent, this only further deepened across society with the advent of revolution in neighboring Arlyon. By the 20th century, the Confederation fell under the dual and mutually beneficial dominance of the Portugese and Catalan states, who ensured the domination of the People's National Party (known simply the shared acronym of PNP), the centre-right and traditionalist PNP led the Confederation through the aftermath of the Arlyonish revolution and established a soft authoritarian regime that guaranteed power until the early 1990s. Since then, Abria's democracy has re-opened significantly producing a vibrant free press, multi-party elections and high rankings on democracy indices.

Country Overview: Former independent territory that was conquered by the kingdom of Abella before the years of unification. It became the naval capital of the Abellan kingdom. Not much history has been worked on yet, however I do plan to extend to something more interesting as someone applies for that spot right south of me.
Purpose: Based on Sicily’s importance to Italy, I envision Saint Hubert to be an important part of Lavaria. With most of the important cities and provinces located on the west coast, Saint Hubert will work as a naval base, summer vacation destination and an extension of the Lavish influence on the east coast of the country.

  • Culture: Talailau's main ethnic group are the native Talailauans (!Fijians), comprising around 70% of the country's population. The Talailauans are the descendants of !Melanesian settlers who arrived in the archipelago roughly 3,500 years ago, although with significant admixture with later arrivals of !Polynesians. Approximately 18% of the population are Matemans (!Samoans), the indigenous inhabitants of the islands of Matema and are culturally and ethnically !Polynesians unlike the mostly !Melanesian Talailauans. The ethnic differences and discrimination between these two ethnic groups has been the subject of tension and conflict on the island of Matema in the 1980s-1990s.
