Does your nation's constitution protect freedom of speech?
Yes! Where would we be without it?

Does your nation's government respect its citizens freedom of speech?
Of course. If you wish to be a politician, you must be strong and able to take mean words.

Are there any limitations on freedom of speech?
Of course not. That would diminish the meaning of 'Freedom of Speech'. Allow people to speak freely about their opinions, as 'vile' as they may be. People will make up their own minds and see that these people are not too nice.

Are citizens allowed to criticize the government and voice their opinions freely without fear of government retribution?
Yes.

Does your nation's constitution protect freedom of speech? Yes as it is enshrined in the constitution and enforced through national law, however individuals are not free from consequences of their actions.

Does your nation's government respect its citizens freedom of speech? Yes as long as the actions of a citizen does not lead to any negative consequences.

Are there any limitations on freedom of speech? Yes, offensive, discriminatory, violent, and anything else punishable is forbidden.

Are citizens allowed to criticize the government and voice their opinions freely without fear of government retribution? The Zhouranese political-landscape isn't a monolith due to strong contentious & highly competitive divisions among the Zhouranese moderate–hardline political spectrum, both sides are to known to strongly criticize the other.

Status of Free Speech in the Human Star State
Does your nation's constitution protect freedom of speech?
No; the official constitution of the Menschlicher Sternenstaat, known as the Stellare Diktate, outlines that the speech of man may be brought to punishment if it promotes degenerate or divisive methods of thinking. However, beyond this, citizens of the country are able to talk freely about topics not specifically censored by state information agencies.

Does your nation's government respect its citizens freedom of speech?
Yes, for the standards that are in place; a degree of privacy and freedom in speech is needed to keep an involved and creative populace, as long as their speech does not transgress outlined censors.

Are there any limitations on freedom of speech?
Yes on the terms of the concept, as outlined beforehand. With it being an official freedom, no, since it is not enshrined as such.

Are citizens allowed to criticize the government and voice their opinions freely without fear of government retribution?
Partly; voicing opinions and criticizing government actions is legal as long as it does not transgress previous outlined restrictions. Speech that clearly indicates the faultiness of the government in a legitimate manner is not considered to be "divisive".

Does your nation's constitution protect freedom of speech?
The nation has no "constitution", but Freedom of Speech is protected in the doctrine of the Think Tank.

Does your nation's government respect its citizens freedom of speech?
Yes. Words alone are never a crime.
However, organizations are not as protected as individuals are. An incitement of violence by an organization may possibly be a threat, and will be dealt with by Civil Protection and, if necessary, Counter Terrorism.

Are there any limitations on freedom of speech?
Absolutely not. One can even go so far as to call for violence, spread hatred, threaten to kill someone, anything.
If you, an individual, feel deeply threatened by someone making a threat (usually, someone is threatening to jump you), and do not have any means of protection (adequate arms or friends with arms), Overwatch will provide you with a Civil Guardian unit upon a quick investigation of your case.

Are citizens allowed to criticize the government and voice their opinions freely without the fear of government retribution?
Yes. The State is effectively separated from individuals due to the level of community autonomy. Criticism is like throwing a cup of water at a concrete wall.

Does your nation's government respect its citizens freedom of speech? No.
Are there any limitations on freedom of speech? Any speech that is considered 'disruptive' or 'causing disharmony to the unity of the Japanese people and the socialist state that they are building' is banned.
Are citizens allowed to criticize the government and voice their opinions freely without fear of government retribution? Minor criticisms are tolerated, however any major criticisms would fall under forbidden speech due to causing disharmony to the unity of the Japanese people and the socialist state and is therefore banned and can be harshly punished.

Freedom of Speech in the New Britannian State

Postby Britannia Maior » Fri Feb 14, 2020 3:35 am

Does your nation's constitution protect freedom of speech?
The country’s constitution is uncodified and consists largely of various statutes, judge-made case law and international treaties. Current laws protect freedom of speech and restrict or forbid punishment of said speech.
Does your nation's government respect its citizens freedom of speech?
For the most part it does. The surveillance state cares not for speech and maintains its watchful eyes everywhere regardless of what is said. However language or speech that is directly aimed at inflaming intercommunal or interethnic tensions is illegal and punishable by imprisonment or fine. Worker’s rights include provisions that protect them from verbal abuse and hateful speech, which people can also be punished for.
Are there any limitations on freedom of speech?
Hate speech, inflammatory language, abusive language and other plainly unwelcome forms of speech are limited if not punishable by law. Society also frowns upon overly vulgar speech, with "common speech" gradually coming out of fashion following educational reforms.
Are citizens allowed to criticize the government and voice their opinions freely without fear of government retribution?
Yes. However certain ideologies or dissenters are watched more closely by the surveillance state, particularly Islamists and their sympathisers, radical republicans among other threats to decent society.

Does your nation's constitution protect freedom of speech? There is no constitution because the Principality of Alzatia is an absolute monarchy. But there is a Basic Law on the Rights and Duties of the Citizen, which includes freedom of speech as a right.
Does your nation's government respect its citizens freedom of speech? yes
Are there any limitations on freedom of speech? Speech that calls for violence is illegal. While there's no separate law of "hate speech", the punishments for making threats can be doubled if motivated by the victim's race, sex (including orientation), age, birthplace, personal beliefs or disabilities. In addition, it was formerly a crime to insult religious feelings or desecrate holy symbols, but that law was repealed last week.
Are citizens allowed to criticize the government and voice their opinions freely without fear of government retribution? Yes, short of calling for violence.

Does your nation's constitution protect freedom of speech? no
Does your nation's government respect its citizens freedom of speech? partially. Officially critisizing the Sultan himself is Lèse-majesté and carries the death penalty, though his Imperial Majesty supposedly must judge every case himself and most are thus dismissed,
Are there any limitations on freedom of speech? none on record
Are citizens allowed to criticize the government and voice their opinions freely without fear of government retribution? yes and no: critisizing the Sultan himself directly is the only one carrying actual punishment under law. Police officers however can decide to administer an inoffocial beating should the need arise.

Does your nation's constitution protect freedom of speech? Yes and no, it is written in the first chapter on citizens' rights, but there are limitations, especially those relating to one's personal beliefs and background.

Does your nation's government respect its citizens freedom of speech? Yes, but this depends on the Commissar or the Inquisitor one is dealing with. The majority of them are trained not to flinch, thus citizens are encouraged to not do or say anything funny in the face on one.

Are there any limitations on freedom of speech? Yes, nothing offensive or subversive and the citizen is free to go. However, showing romantic affection (holding hands, flirting in public area, dating near a religious site) publicly is considered taboo here. Family affection is not restricted and is in fact encouraged. Mockery is an offense. Comedy is allowed but must meet a strict guideline. Swearing is an offense because family-friendly values are taught from grade one elementary school.

Are citizens allowed to criticize the government and voice their opinions freely without fear of government retribution? Yes, criticization of government is always done anonymously but a district's criticization must fill up the quota required (Everyone must participate). So the government could cross-check the data of the overall area but does not have the legitimacy to imprison a whole district.

Are citizens allowed to criticize the government and voice their opinions freely without fear of government retribution? So long as they do not advocate for any changes to our core beliefs in the supremacy of the white rice and our faith in God and His Son, Jesus Christ.

Does your nation's constitution protect freedom of speech? Yes, the article 180 of the Imperial Constitution, explicitly states that all imperial citizens have freedom of speech: "all citizens of Empire have the right to freedom of speech, in the terms of this constitution, wich shall never be infringed by any authority and shall be protected and guaranteed, considering this is a natural right."
Does your nation's government respect its citizens freedom of speech? Yes.
Are there any limitations on freedom of speech? Partially yes for government officials, although being almost absolute for regular citizens. Says the items of the previously said article 180: "I - Public authorities of any kind shall not advogate for separatism among citizens or for betrayal against the country and Emperor.", "II - Threats of offensive physical violence against someone, slander and false accusations for crimes, aren't protect by this article.", "III - Aren't also protect by this article incitement to commit violent crimes against someone, or incitement to a violent rebellion against the Empire and the nation".
Are citizens allowed to criticize the government and voice their opinions freely without the fear of government retribution? Yes.
