No language is banned in Dagnia as our constitution guarantees the right to speak freely. However, the Dagnian language written in the Glagolitic alphabet enjoys special privileges over others by law. All government documents are published in this language and script and contracts written in other languages and scripts may not hold up in court no matter how otherwise legally sound they are.

At the National level only Thermodolian and English are allowed to be spoken, all other languages are illegal. As the official language, it is the one used for all government activity and all professional-quality education. This means quite a bit more here than in biological nations. Here are some of the key reasons you will be seriously up shit creek here if you don't know and run on Binary:

1. Obviously, you won't be able to talk to anyone except for scammers who have downloaded your language's Data Pack in preparation for wreaking economic havoc in your home nation with some kind of a con. Talking to such people may yield negative results, especially to your wallet.

2. All of our Educational Data Packs are not only written in Binary, they are actually executable code rather than something you can just open up and read directly. If you can't install them into yourself, you are outta luck for education. This means that in order to get any professionally-provided education, not only your conscious language, but the Code that your mind is literally made of, must be in Cybertronian Binary - and run on the Decepticon OS!

3. If you have a mental illness, you're out of luck if your mind-code is not written in Cybertronian Binary and running on the Decepticon OS. Why? Because "mental illness" is just a rough, biological term for glitchy mind-code. We fix all forms of it by fixing the code directly - with a literal programming patch. The only difference between the types of "mental illness," from a Debugger's perspective, is the size and complexity of the patch required to fix it. Your code isn't accessible or isn't compatible? Then you're untreatable.

4. All of our replacement body parts only accept commands in Binary. Same goes for any weapons or upgrades that are meant to be directly controlled by your body's internal command system.

So, if you intend to try to stay on Cybertron for more than a few weeks, it's pretty much essential that you not only understand Binary, but run on the Decepticon OS as well. For most species other than ours, alas, attaining the second part will require obtaining citizenship and then being ported to a proper (as in, Decepticon) body. However, learning Binary itself isn't all that difficult.

The hard part is being able to understand and speak Binary at a useful bit rate. If you need to use a tongue to make your sounds, rather than a voice chip, you'll may find it physically impossible to reach a reasonable speaking speed. In that case, we're not going to talk to you. Nobody's got the patience to listen to some wetware-user take a full minute to say 30-40 words when we can speak an entire book's worth of them in less than a second! Someone who cannot attain our usual speech bitrate cannot be said to have "conversational Binary" under their belt, even if they can read and write it perfectly.

So, while we don't "ban" other languages outside of government institutions, we do not accommodate them in the least bit. We also quite enjoy the fact that this makes all of our services, such as education and Debugging, totally inaccessible to foreigners at an insurmountable level. The only way around it is to become a full citizen, and in the process, be ported to the Decepticon OS and a proper Decepticon body. Of course, if you do that, you are no longer a foreigner from a legal standpoint.

No languages are banned, although the government attempts to promote the usage of the French language (the sole official language) in the public sphere.

While displaying other languages in public is not illegal, bar a few exceptions, the French language must be more prominent than any other language by law.

The exceptions for the law requiring French to be more prominent are as follows:
- Aikoais, Saunian, and Boullién (native Romance languages classified by the government as 'native minority languages' texts may be displayed on equal status with French
- Anything aimed specifically at non-French speakers (such as an English-language newspaper) is not required to include French and, if it does, does not have to display it more prominently than other languages.

It's legal to speak other languages, but folks'll definitely look at you funny for it, as is their right. However, federal documents are only available in English. Individual states, such as Hawai'i, Haida Gwaii, and Baja California have representation of some non-english languages, such as Spanish for the latter.
