In Gopnikea, there are only 3 ratings, both for games and movies, television. These ratings are:

G - General audiences. These include children's television, adventure games, thrillers, horror movies, blood and gore etc.
S - Sexual content. These include pornography, hardcore and softcore, hentai and other stuff of the sort.
P - Prohibited content. Content banned by the government.

General audiences are ages 0 - 15
Content S can be viewed by ages 16+
Prohibited content can only be viewed outside of the nation. Any copies owned, sold or given away will be confiscated and a few weeks of jailtime or a $5,000 fine. Further crimes of the sort, and it will be extended and relocated to 2 years in prison + rehabilitation.

In Oktotheio media content ratings are given out by the Oktotheioan Board of Films, TV and Games (OBFTG).

Films and TV

Each rating is named after one of the main deities of Oktotheio:
  • F/Flora: Suitable for all.
  • Os/Oskar: Suitable for 12 years and over. Parental guidance is suggested. Does not contain sex.
  • Ox/Oxana: Suitable for 12 years and over. Parental guidance is suggested. Does contain sex.
  • M/Meghan: Suitable for 15 years and over. Not recommended for a younger audience but not restricted.
  • S/Sapphira: Suitable for 18 years and over. Not recommended for a younger audience but not restricted.

Games

A PEGI like system is used that has the same 3, 7, 12, 16, 18 ratings, but that shows more leniency towards sexually suggestive content.

It is actually illegal for the government to age-restrict any content. The reason isn't the content warnings themselves, but rather trying to associate certain aspects of media with needing to be of a certain age. Example: It is illegal to say that you MUST be 13 too see violence because basing it off of a that specific age is seen as arbitrary. What exactly is the difference between a 12 year old consuming violent media vs a 13 year old?

With that said, rather then have any particular age blocks, we simply require a warning label in an "easily accessible location" (Back of the box, on the store page, ect). The label is required to list any potentially offensive content for minors, such as violence, sex, nudity, ect. It is then up to the parents to check the label and decide for themselves if they want to give it to there kids.

I will say that many people feel that even this system is archaic and there have been talks of just dropping the thing all together for numerous reasons. Some just see it as unnecessary in the modern age where all information is already available while go so far as to say that kids should be exposed to more mature media anyways or just to drop the entire concept of "mature media".

It is worth noting that pornographic media is regulated by an entirely different set of laws, and is illegal for minors to view.

Any media that is displayed in cinemas or sold in stores (with the exception of educational or religious materials) must receive a certificate from the Board of Film Censors. Anything refused a certificate cannot be distributed. The ratings issued by the Board are as follows:

C - Children (Content specifically aimed at pre-school children)
G - General Audiences (Suitable for viewers of all ages)
PG - Parental Guidance (Younger children should be accompanied by an adult)
12 - Suitable for viewers aged 12 and over; children below this age must be accompanied by an adult.
16 - Suitable for viewers aged 16 and over; children below this age must be accompanied by an adult.
18 - Suitable for viewers aged 18 and over; children below this age must be accompanied by an adult.
R - Restricted (Only to be distributed in specially licensed venues; not to be viewed by anyone under 18)

No ratings system exists for television, as adult content can only legally be broadcast between 9pm and 5am; outside of that time, everything shown must be family-friendly. There is no official system in place for games, although PEGI ratings are often used.

On violent, horrific, and/or pornographic media, "no under 18" sticker is applied to warn of content. Who rates it? The people who sell or show it of course! It is usually very obvious when something is unsuitable for children. If you don't what's in it? Well then you shouldn't sell it.

In PCPlace, the Politically Correct Libertarian Party rates all forms of media based on how offensive, microaggressive, or politically incorrect they may be to minority groups or themselves. Rating labels are mandatory for all media in PCPlace.
  • Politically Correct: No content was found to have anything even mildly offensive to minority groups.
  • Trigger Warning: Some content may offend members of certain groups. Watch/play with discretion.
  • Microaggressive: Content may psychologically damage members of certain groups. Usage is strongly discouraged. Those who create such content without a government-approved license may be arrested and sent to political reeducation centers rehabilitated in sensitivity training classes.
  • Racist/Sexist/Bigoted/Homophobic/Xenophobic/Transphobic/Fascist: Content is illegal; either because it is seen as extremely offensive outright hate speech or because it criticizes the government tries to subvert the benevolent party. Those who create such content are frequently arrested by the secret police force stopped by the benevolent police force and imprisoned for life prevented from offending anybody.

All forms of media:

FA: Federal Approval. This rating was previously used to demonstrate that a program was regulated by the federal government. However, bills have passed reaffirming constitutional freedom of speech, including the freedom of dissent speech. Currently, FA means that the Federal Government approves of the program and the contents.

NYR Not Yet Rated.

21AU. 21 And Up. This program would be intended to be viewed or listened to by people 21 years of age or older.

A3OAU The program is intended for adults 30 and up.

T. Teens. This program is geared towards people in their teenage years, although older people may also partake.

E This program is intended for everyone (aka a general audience)to be permitted to watch or listen to regardless of age.

Inf&G. Infant and guardian. This program is intended for infants and their guardian up to 1 year of age.

K1-3 This program is intended for kids 1 to 3.

K3-5. This program is intended for kuds 3 to 5 years old.

K5-7. This program is intended for kids 5 to 7 years old.

K7-10. This program is intended for kids 7 to 10 years old.

K10-13. This program is intended for kids 10 to 13 years of age.

*A few of these may be followed with one or more of the following modifiers:

AGD At Guardian Discretion. Younger viewers/listeners may listen at their legal Guardian's discretion. (E.g. 21AU-AGD would mean that the program is intended for 21 years old and up, but it is permitted for younger viewers to partake at their legal Guardian's discretion. Without the -AGD it is not permitted for younger people to partake.

YNA Younger viewers not acceptable. Younger viewers are not permitted. Although the absence of this means the same thing, this is often put on labels to reinforce the ethic (e.g K-10-13YNA means Kids 10 years old to 13, but younger kids not acceptable. So, a 9 year old viewer would be in violation of Chadtonian ethics.)

FDA. Federal disapproval. The government disapproves of this program. This label is seen often on anti-Chadtonian websites, but recently has been placed on pornography websites as well, giving the latter a common rating of A3OAU-YNA-FDA.

All films, television shows, and videogames must receive a rating out of 5 from the Aziran Media Classification Board (AMCB). The set of ratings is uniform across all three forms of media. Any media not rated by the AMCB is considered illegal to sell or own in Aziria. To date, no mass-distributed piece of media has been banned by the AMCB, as most illegal media (child pornography, anything explicitly inciting violence or genocide, etc.) is already illegal under other laws.

AMCB ratings are not legally binding, though most retailers have a policy of requiring ID for the purchase of content rated 4 or 5.

AMCB classification: 1
Corresponding ESRB rating: E
Corresponding MPAA rating: G
Corresponding FCC TV rating: TV-G
No objectionable content. Suitable for all audiences

AMCB classification: 2
Corresponding ESRB rating: E10
Corresponding MPAA rating: PG
Corresponding FCC TV rating: TV-PG
Some objectionable content. May not be suitable for young children

AMCB classification: 3
Corresponding ESRB rating: T
Corresponding MPAA rating: PG-13
Corresponding FCC TV rating: TV-14
Substantial amount of objectionable content. May not be suitable for children under 12

AMCB classification: 4
Corresponding ESRB rating: M
Corresponding MPAA rating: R
Corresponding FCC TV rating: TV-MA
High amount of objectionable content. Not suitable for children under 16

AMCB classification: 5
Corresponding ESRB rating: AO
Corresponding MPAA rating: NC-17
Corresponding FCC TV rating: TV-MA
Extremely high level of objectionable content. Not suitable for people under 20

In addition to the five main ratings, there are a few more specific sub-ratings that may be given to any piece of media rated 2 or above:

S: Mild sexual themes (i.e: brief nudity, innuendo)
S+: Strong sexual themes (i.e: full nudity, sex scenes)
L: Mild language (damn, shit, etc.)
L+: Strong language (any swear words with sexual connotations or racial slurs)
V-: Fantasy or cartoon violence
V: General level of violence (not extremely graphic or gratuitous)
V+: High levels of graphic violence (gore, torture, etc.)

Further information can be found at the AMCB Media Database at amcb.org.azi/database

The Board of Film Classification currently uses the following classifications:

U - Universal, suitable for all.
A - Advisory, recommended that children are not admitted without an adult.
AA - suitable for those aged 16 and over only.
X - suitable for adults (age 21) only.
R - Restricted, not for public viewing. To be distributed to licensed individuals and organisations only.

There exists a parallel classification system which can be imposed by courts on printed material:

U - Universal, suitable for all.
R - Restricted, to be distributed to licensed individuals and organisations only.
D - Destroy, the publisher must pulp all copies of the item in its possession and circulated copies must be destroyed where possible. Wilful ownership of D-rated material is a criminal offence.

What are the media ratings in your nation?

Postby Deacarsia » Sun Dec 08, 2019 2:00 am

In Deacarsia, media content ratings are set by the National Legion of Decency.

Video Games
Deacarsia uses the Entertainment Software Rating Board system as it existed before March 2005: Early Childhood (EC), Kids to Adults (K-A), and Teen (T). Video games that would receive an M or AO rating are banned.

Film/Television
Morally Unobjectionable (A) - This content is suitable for all audiences and contains no notably objectionable material. A rated television programs may air at any time of day.
Morally Objectionable In Part (B) - This content contains objectionable material and is advised for viewing by persons aged 21 years or more. Persons under 21 wishing to view B-rated films at the cinema must be accompanied by an adult. Persons who look under 30 wishing to buy B-rated content will be asked for identification to prove they are 21 or over. B-rated television programs may not air except between 9:00 P.M. and 5:00 A.M., and never on Saturday nights or Sunday mornings.
Condemned (C) - This content has been deemed illegal by the National Legion of Decency and knowingly selling, buying, possessing, trafficking, screening, producing, viewing, or broadcasting C-rated material is a crime.

Deacarsia also legally enforces a version of the Motion Picture Production Code, in addition to the ratings system.

Image
16 - For Lüde över 16
(For people over 16)
This film is deemed unsuitable for children under 16. Anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult in order to buy or be admitted to this film.

Ratings in Guaylandia

Postby Guaylandia » Tue Dec 17, 2019 9:00 pm

Most media production in Guaylandia is done by members of the Video Media Administration, which chooses not to censor movies to comply with freedom of speech laws. Due to high demand, however, there is a non-binding ratings system shared between all media that is as follows:
    - Unrated
    - All Audiences - anyone can watch it
    - Most Audiences - anyone can watch it, but some parents may be concerned
    - Adult Audiences - contains content not suited to children

The members of the Video Media Administration responsible for the project choose the rating, although that decision is often overruled by a vote of the general membership.

For the videogames Alinghi is used both PEGI system, and National System called in English CARS (Confederal Age Requiremenst System). The age requirement is only advisory and officially it's a discretion of shop owner if follow the classification, except if ther are presence of explicit sex-scenes or real gambling:

The age-rating certificates issued by the Ministry of Information are as follows:

U- Universal exhibition; all admitted
A - Adult accompaniment; children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian
X- Restricted exhibition; children under 16 not admitted

Any film which has not received certification from the Ministry cannot legally be exhibited in front of public audiences.
There is no ratings system for television. All programmes must be approved by government censors, and are usually expected to be suitable for general audiences.
