Zeganas wrote:What are the major (and/or minor) political parties in your nation? Is it a multi-party system, a 2 party system, or perhaps a system where 1 party dominates?

Only dominates ...? What about us poor unity-party states ...? :(

Party Name:
The Meritocratic Unity Party of the Federation of Lillorainen (MUPFL).

Party Color(s):
Black and blue.

Political views of the party:
Meritocracy, Pluralism (and yes, I know how ironic that sounds), social and technological progressivism, social market economy (Rhenish capitalism), civic and cultural nationalism.

Number of seats in the upper chamber:
311/311.

Number of seats in the lower chamber:
148/154 (the others are Independent).

Power in national subdivisions:
Varying from 80% to 95% in state legislatures (others are Independent).

Other notes:
The MUPFL got formed on the 12th of November, 1981, out of the merge of seven parties and movements forming an all-party coalition government, a consequence of the problems during the founding of the Federation earlier the same year, as a result of the Civil War, on the ruins of which the Lillorainian States unified. This, as well as prior bad experience with multi-party democracy, made the founders agree on a new system based on the free exchange of ideas, without the elements that hinder progress. Therefore, the Party merged, adopting the National Meritocratic manifesto by Siegfried Heiderich, the first President, as a party manifesto and therefore state ideology.

The party system in the Democratic Republic can be best compared to that of Australia. That is it is effectively a two-party system but there have been additional parties with representation in the legislature. Indeed, there have always been at least three parties with seats in the Forum since the 1964 National and Forum Election.

As Gandoor has a unicameral legislature and is a unitary state, we have taken the liberty of modifying your form so we can properly fill it out without leaving any spaces blank.

Party Name: New Democratic Party
Party Color(s): Green
Political views of the party: Social democracy, social liberalism, mixed-market economy
Number of seats in the legislature: 488 (current majority party until the upcoming October)
Power in national subdivisions: The NDP currently controls the legislatures and governorships of five of our eight administrative divisions.
Other notes: Oldest operating political party in the Democratic Republic, established in 1878. Current Prime Minister, Nikolai Olanovich Semenov is a member of the NDP. Per the results of the recently concluded 2024 National and Forum Election, the NDP will become the minority party starting in October with 481 seats (seat number may change as mail-in ballots can be accepted until 11pm tomorrow so long as they were postmarked by election day [6 July 2024]) and per the results of the concurrent regional elections, the NDP will lose control of one administrative division's legislature and the governorship of two.

Party Name: Gandoor Communist Party
Party Color(s): Red
Political views of the party: Democratic socialism, social progressivism, pacifism
Number of seats in the legislature: 485 (current minority party until the upcoming October)
Power in national subdivisions: The Communist Party currently controls the legislatures and governorships of three of our eight administrative divisions.
Other notes: Per the results of the recently concluded 2024 National and Forum Election, the Communist Party will become the majority party starting in October with 487 seats (seat number may change as mail-in ballots can be accepted until 11pm tomorrow so long as they were postmarked by election day [6 July 2024]) and party leader Park Sang-Hee, currently Prime Minister-delegate, will be formally appointed as the next Prime Minister of Gandoor. Per the results of the concurrent regional elections, the Communist Party will gain control of one administrative division's legislature and the governorship of two.

Party Name: People's Party of Gandoor
Party Color(s): Purple
Political views of the party: Fiscal conservatism, social liberalism, non-interventionism
Number of seats in the legislature: 18 (until the upcoming October)

by Shamsiyya
And there we go with the only party that ever existed in Shamsiyya's awfully long history ...

Party Name:
Socialist Unity Front of Shamsiyya.

Party Color(s):
Red.

Political views of the party:
Socialism, Syndicalism, Third Way Economics, Workers' self-management, regional self-administration.

Number of seats in the upper chamber:
27/27 (by 1991).

Number of seats in the lower chamber:
308/308 (by 1991).

Power in national subdivisions:
Varying from 70 to 90% in cantonal legislatures (where being Independent was an option).

Other notes:
The SUFS was the only prevailing party during its rule of the FSPR of Shamsiyya, existing from 1942 to 1991. Its ideology was, especially after the early 1950s, only lightly based on Marxism-Leninism, yet the more on syndicalism, self-management and Third Way Economics, like some other socialist states (for instance Yugoslavia, and some Arab countries). Stalinism was much opposed; so where ideas like the Cultural Revolution. The SUFS went its own way, trying to integrate the socialist idea into the culture of Shamsiyya, which, previously, was shaped by the Sultanate a lot.
After an economic and political crisis in the late 1980s, and popular uprisings thereupon (8th Intifada), the SUFS eventually disbanded itself in 1991. The Federal Republic was originally intended to have its now partyless system only temporarily - but it remained as such still upon today.

by Shalotte
Shalotte's Gaeltyn represents a population of roughly 120,000 people, via a mere 20 regional representatives called Tyrrns. The Mon'gaeltyn is elected from among their own number, but by tradition the Tyrrn of Alauna is almost always selected.

As such, formal political parties aren't something that have really taken off in Shalotte. They aren't banned - in fact, no laws exist in regards to them at all - but simply unnecessary for such a small institution.

Despite that, Tyrrns will sometimes form temporary alliances with other like-minded Tyrrns during crucial votes, in an effort to win support for a cause, but these temporary alliances are exactly that - temporary. Tyrrns typically vote on legislation in accordance with the wishes of the people living in their Tyrrny, rather than according to any 'party line'.

Note 2:As the sole legal party in Rezmaeristan, all Rezmaeris are members, including royals and nobles.

Note 3: The RWSF is not a monolith; it has many informal factions; some are single issue(example:abolishing the monarchy), while others have broader focuses(example: primitivism or futurism)
