Five official parties make up the political landscape of Ravenni, all of which represent different sections of left wing thought and praxis. By convention, all five parties are invited to form a unity government following each election, a unique mechanism among Westminster-style parliaments that is thought to encourage cooperation and discourage an adversarial atmosphere. Mixed-member proportional elections are held every 5 years for the House of Communes, consisting of 200 seats, 125 of which are electorate seats and 75 of which are list seats. Independent candidates are permitted to run in electorates, and often represent a wider diversity of political ideology than the five official parties, but their political involvement is limited by their exclusion from proportional representation and list seats.

Party Color(s): Purple
Political views of the party: Democratic socialism
Number of seats in the House of Commons: 68/200
Other notes: As the largest party in the House of Commons, the United Labour Party leads the Government. Their objectives are to maintain the status quo, limit sectarianism, and encourage cooperation between the other parties of the Government.

Party Color(s): Green
Political views of the party: Eco-socialism
Number of seats in the House of Commons: 38/200
Other notes: The objectives of the Green Party are to improve environmental standards, ban nuclear energy and discourage individual excess among citizens.

Party Color(s): Red
Political views of the party: Marxism-Leninism
Number of seats in the House of Commons: 33/200
Other notes: The objectives of the Vanguard Party are to strengthen the Dictatorship of the Proletariat, improve quality of life and work and protect the integrity of the state.

Party Color(s): Orange
Political views of the party: Libertarian socialism
Number of seats in the House of Commons: 26/200
Other notes: The objectives of the Mutual Party are to decentralise the state, and improve individual engagement in political and economic activity.

Party Color(s): Blue
Political views of the party: Liberation Theology
Number of seats in the House of Commons: 19/200
Other notes: The objectives of the Christian Party are to encourage political engagement of Christian citizens, protect (left-wing) religious rights and freedoms and limit conservative influence in religious communities.

Party Name: Frjáls Lýðræðislegflokkurinn | Free Democratic Party
Party Colour(s): gold, black
Political views of the party: Classical liberal, centre, left of centre, constitutional monarchist
Number of seats in the Alþingi: 92/214
Other notes: Prydania's traditional centrist/left of centre party, currently forming the government with support of the Peers group. Led by Magnus Brandt, currently serving as Prime Minister. Was part of the Front of National Unity, the anti-Syndicalist resistance group during the Prydanian Civil War (2002-2017).

Party Name: Íhaldsflokkurinn | Conservative Party
Party Colour(s): blue, red, white
Political views of the party: Classical conservative, right of centre, monarchist, social conservatism (some factions), pragmatism (some factions)
Number of seats in the Alþingi: 62/214
Other notes: Formed from supporters of the Crown dating back to conflicts in the 14th century, and has a claim to being Prydania's oldest party (though some of the Free Democratic Party's forerunner groups are just as old). Traditional big tent conservative party with multiple factions within it. Was part of the FNU during the Civil War. Former leader William Aubyn served as the political leader of the FNU and served as the Prime Minister during the interim government following the Crown's restoration in the person of King Tobias III. Currently led by Søren Høgh. Courts the right wing vote in cities, suburbs, and large towns.
The Conservative Party runs on a joint ticket with the Agrarian Party as part of the Íhalds-Landbúnað Bandalag | Conservative-Agrarian Alliance. The joint alliance sits as one group in the Alþingi.

Party Name: Landbúnaðarflokkurinn | Agrarian Party
Party Colour(s): green, gold
Political views of the party: Agrarianism, localism, social feudalism, national sovereignty, monarchist, social conservatism (some factions)
Number of seats in the Alþingi: 28/214
Other notes: Formed as a party to represent farmers in the late 1800s, the Agrarian Party grew to represent the interests of the rural voters. They tend to support local autonomy, farmer-friendly economic polices, and environmental politics. This has led to an eclectic mix of conservative values, locally-minded politics, welfare state economic policies in agricultural sectors, and environmentalist policies. The party's growth in the early 20th century led to a chipping away of Conservative votes in the rural areas of Prydania. This led to the creation of the Conservative-Agrarian Alliance in the 1930s, which still stands to this day. The Agrarians contest votes in rural locales and small towns. They were part of the FNU during the Civil War. Their current leader, Tenna Nygaard, took control of the Alliance's Alþingi caucus following William Aubyn's resignation. She currently leads the Alliance, though for how long she can continue in the role with Søren Høgh in control of the senior coalition partner remains to be seen.

Party Name: Alþýðuflokkurinn | People's Party
Party Colour(s): red, green, black, white
Political views of the party: social democracy (some factions), democratic socialism (some factions), social justice (some factions), left wing, constitutional monarchist
Number of seats in the Alþingi: 2/214
Other notes: Formed from moderate Syndicalists who were turned off by the Syndicalist Party's totalitarian leanings in the early days of the Syndicalist Republic. They did not formally join the FNU, but participated in anti-Syndicalist resistance none-the-less. Still, they have a lot of baggage to overcome and lack the longevity of the other parties that fought against Syndicalist tyranny. Only managed two seats in the first democratic Alþingi election following the end of the Civil War, but showing promising signs of growth. Led by Annie Gram.

Party Name: Messíasdeildinni | Messianic League
Party Colour(s): white, gold, teal, black
Political views of the party: Messianist dominionism, Biblical theocracy, social conservatism
Number of seats in the Alþingi: 0/214
Other notes: Prydania's newest party that was formed after the 2018 elections. Looking to contest their first election in 2023. Led by Hægla Gleði Vatnáin, the party is staunchly Messianist and claims the Civil War was an opportunity for Prydania to be reborn as a truly Messianist nation. Though happy with the newly restored monarchy's re-establishment of the Prydanian Laurenist Church as the national religion, the party seeks to repeal the Religious Toleration Act of 1845 to enforce a Laurenist-only condition on serving in government. They also believe that Biblical law should form the basis of national law.

**NOTE**
The Prydanian Alþingi is unicameral and contains both elected seats and Peer seats in the same chamber. As such the 30 Peer seats are unaccounted for in party totals above. Presently the Peers support the Free Democrats in forming a government, as they won the most seats out of any bloc in the 2018 election.

Parties in Pod City are corporate bodies, usually owned and run by wealthy personalities as a way of making a legacy for themselves. There are currently hundreds of registered political parties (and remember, we have only about 21 million people living mostly outside of VR space) which, combined with our yearly elections, thousand-seat Assembly, proportional representation without a threshold and loose naming laws (a common tactic is to mimic, but not outright copy, the name of a more popular rival) means our party system is in total chaos. The largest party in the Assembly regularly only gets 4-6% of the popular vote, with coalition negotiations sometimes failing to conclude before the next election. Luckily, the real power lies with the Duke of Pod City, who rules by decree, despite all executive proclamations beginning with "By order of the Popular Assembly of Pod City..."

Saarkon is Central-European-like social democratic federation, formed from small Slavic republics.

Equality! Liberty! Democracy!

Равниче! Свободе! Демократjа!

I generally use NSStats. Except population. It's always 286 million. Saarkon is MT. Sorry for spelling mistakes, English is not my 1st language.

Currently this nation is under construction because I abandoned it for a year. Hopefully I will return to RPing soon.

One of the few nation's with a frightening economy, without a single car. One of the most developed nations, but our government is corrupt as fridge. The Cosmic Mainframe's original nation, now used for everything related to gameplay and the World Assembly.
Lore TL;DR: Essentially, it's a world union with the government of Switzerland and the economy of Revolutionary Catalonia.

Appalachia has three major parties.

Party Name: The Mountain Alliance
Image
Party Color(s): Gray
Political views of the party: Big tent/populism, Isolationism, economic protectionism, social liberalism
Number of seats in the upper chamber: 19/48
Number of seats in the lower chamber: 206/400
Power in national subdivisions: 9/16 Provincial Governors
Other notes: The original major party in Appalachia, big-tent, populist, and pro-labor. Popular throughout Appalachia but especially in its central and northern coal mining regions, and with industrial workers. In power since 1975, but slowly losing ground to the other parties - last year it lost its absolute majority in the senate for first time ever, leading to a largely deadlocked legislature. Has kept Appalachia very isolated from foreign affairs. Considered by many foreign observers as well as their opponents to be corrupt. Formed via a union of the The Farmer-Labor Party, Federalist Party, and Trade Union League.

Party Name: Union Party
Image
Party Color(s): Blue and Red
Political views of the party: Democratic socialism
Number of seats in the upper chamber: 14/48
Number of seats in the lower chamber: 101/400
Power in national subdivisions: 2/16 Provincial Governors
Other notes: A party that is popular mainly in urban areas and among the young and college educated. Their lack of popularity with rural voters is reflected in a smaller representation in provincial-level governments. They share some ideological similarities with the Mountain Alliance such as universal healthcare and support of labor unions, but differ in their support of universal access to education, expanded welfare programs, and a friendlier attitude towards immigration. Formed from a union of the Appalachian Socialist Party and the Green Party (though recently the Green Party has been reformed as a minor party, after dissatisfaction with the UP's pro-nuclear power stance)

Party Name: Heritage Party
Image
Party Color(s): Old Gold
Political views of the party: Social conservatism, free market, interventionist foreign policy
Number of seats in the upper chamber: 15/48
Number of seats in the lower chamber: 93/400
Power in national subdivisions: 5/16 Provincial Governors
Other notes: The party of Appalachia's southern provinces and more rural areas in general. Popular among the elderly and religious conservatives. Pushes for privatization of healthcare and utilities, and deregulation of the economy in general. Wants Appalachia to trade on the world stage and develop a military with offensive capabilities. Formed via a union of the Christian Democratic Party, Conservative Party, and the Alliance for Southern Appalachia.

Ruritane has too many political parties to count, even if you just count the ones that have a member of parliament. Here are a few of the weirdest and most common Ruritanois polits.

Party Name: Boring Centrist Party
Party Color(s): gray
Political views of the party: centrism
Number of seats in the upper chamber: 39
Number of seats in the lower chamber: 30
Power in national subdivisions: powerful enough
Other notes: the most powerful Ruritanois party that isn't in coalitions

Party Name: Social Liberal Party

Political views of the party: centrist socially, left economically
Number of seats in the upper chamber: 26

Party Name: Hoogahooga Party
Party Color(s): pink
Political views of the party: free love, legalization of pedophilia and polygamy, state atheism, legalization of all drugs except vape.
Number of seats in the upper chamber: 0
Number of seats in the lower chamber: 1
Power in national subdivisions: a midget

Party Name: Non Party/No Party
Party Color(s): red and blue
Political views of the party: rightist, free market, free trade, promotion of religious freedom if you aren't atheist, more surveillance
Number of seats in the upper chamber: 18
Number of seats in the lower chamber: 13
Power in national subdivisions: growing in power
Other notes: just your average rightist party, but Ruritanaises think it be fascist. Rapidly growing more popular.

Party Name: Memers Party
Party Color(s): black and red
Political views of the party: sort of fascist. Owning the libs and kicking all Jews, globalists, and Jewish globalists out of Ruritane. Seizing the means of pronunciation. Controlling reproductive access to prevent incels.
Number of seats in the upper chamber: 10
Number of seats in the lower chamber: 3
Power in national subdivisions: weak
Other notes: changed its name from Ruritane Patriotic Party in 2017 to appeal to younger voters.

Party Name: Angry Jew Party
Party Color(s): blue and white
Political views of the party: Jewish supremacy, having Judaism be the official state religion, a strange Ruritanois form of Zionism.
Number of seats in the upper chamber: 4
Number of seats in the lower chamber: 1
Power in national subdivisions: only has a presence in Major Ruritane
Other notes: laughed at. Actually more relevant than you think, since 42% of the population is Jewish.

Party Name: Narf Party
Party Color(s): yellow and orange
Political views of the party: acknowledging the supremacy of the Cult of Moe. Every other political view this party has is one shared with the Cult of Moe.
Number of seats in the upper chamber: 5
Number of seats in the lower chamber: 7
Power in national subdivisions: only has a presence in Tierra del Fuego
Other notes: the sanest political party in Ruritane

Kedri is a nation of 18th century pirates who know water-bending. Throw in some steampunk, as well. Tech level is PT/FanT.
Kedrians abandon piracy and become a modernized country, founded by reformed criminals who forsook piracy and the citizens are descended from pirates, and still retain some of their heritage such as speech, accent, politics.

Political parties exist and compete for votes in the context of a presidential, federal democracy and traditionally two-party system, however the adversarial and often dramatic epic that is Artagnan political history has changed rapidly in recent years. Presently there are four parties with representation in the National Assembly, two of which, the National Democrats and Reform, have dominated the political scene of the Artagnan Union since the mid-1970s. Both major parties are big tents in their own respects, with it generally being conceded that the NDP, an alliance of geography as much as ideology, is the more fractured of the two.

The NDP is historically socially conservative and economically populist, with a long and metamorphic history as the party "of the common man." By contrast, the Reform Party, commonly Reform, is relatively young, having come to maturity as a stridently neoliberal successor to the NDP's traditional rival, the Liberal Party. Its divides are less well-defined, but generally fall along liberal conservative-libertarian lines.
In recent years, newer, grassroots parties with more extreme planks have emerged as a relevant force for change in recent years. On the left, the Alliance, a coalition of left-leaning and environmentalist groups, has taken up the oft-neglected mantle of progressivism, chipping away at the NDP and Reform parties' support in somewhat equal measure. The Artagnan Patriotic League, or APL, is a nascent, nationalist-conservative, right-wing populist grassroots movement that has morphed into a small but growing player within the unicameral Assembly.

In the 2019 election, an energized NDP recovered from their successive electoral disasters of the 2010s to take a commanding majority in the National Assembly and Bertie Broussard, a dark horse, 43 year old progressive from the state of New Brittany. elected the youngest Chief of State in Artagnan history. The result was an upset for both the Reform majority and the Alliance, which had replaced the NDP as the largest opposition party in the previous election.

Party Name: National Democratic Party / Parti démocratique national
Party Color(s): Red
Political views of the party: Populism, Big Tent Politics; Internal Factions: Third Way, Christian Democracy, Economic Populism
Number of seats in the lower chamber: 190/350
Power in national subdivisions: Deputy-Generals (state executives)- 3/7; Commonwealth General Assemblies- 4*/7
*- Confidence and Supply agreement with Alliance in Sunderland.
Other notes: The National Democratic Party (NDP) is the oldest and currently largest political party in Artagne. Traditionally agrarian and conservative, it gradually became the standard bearer of economic progressivism. It retains elements of its rural origins, with a strong, but waning, deference to traditional, Judeo-Christian values, consistent levels of support in the country, and broadly populist political language. It is currently a coalition of racial and religious minorities, middle and working class French-speakers, organized labor, small farmers, and the poor. It's various factions differ on which elements of the party's platform to emphasize, but are more or less united by an anti-establishment, populist ethos.

Party Name: Reform Party / Parti réformiste
Party Color(s): Blue
Political views of the party: Economic Liberalism, Neoliberalism; Internal Factions: Libertarianism, Neoconservatism/Liberal Democracy
Number of seats in the lower chamber: 132/350
Power in national subdivisions: Deputy-Generals (state executives)- 3/7; Commonwealth General Assemblies- 2/7
Other notes: The Reform Party (Ref) is the main opposition party and has been in power, at least at the executive level, for most of the 21st century. It began as the spiritual successor of the liberal-conservative Liberal Party. It gained electoral success beginning in the 1980s on a defense of market liberalism and firm stances against the alleged corruption of the then-dominant NDP. In the modern era, it has become more moderate, but a large and increasing portion of its members are embracing a stridently neoliberal, libertarian-esque ideology. Its coalition rests on college educated White Artagnans, the suburbs, entrepreneurs, intellectuals, Hispanics, and coastal areas. It seeks to recover from its shocking loss in the 2019 elections by embracing its libertarian roots and focusing on local elections.

Party Name: Alliance
Party Color(s): Green
Political views of the party: Social Democracy, Environmentalism
Number of seats in the lower chamber: 18/350
Power in national subdivisions: Deputy-Generals (state executives)- 0/7; Commonwealth General Assemblies- 0*/7
Other notes: Alliance was formed as a merger of left-leaning labor unions, socialists, environmentalists, and disgruntled progressives from the badly fractured NDP of the early 2000s. It gained impressively as the NDP waned in popularity and as the country became more socially liberal and urbanized. They briefly replaced the NDP as the second-largest party within the National Assembly, to much media fanfare about the future of the Artagnan left. These gains did not last, the Alliance losing nearly a hundred seats, mostly in urban centers, in the most recent elections. The Alliance seeks to refine its message and expand its base as local elections loom.

Party Name: Artagnan Patriotic League / Ligue patriotique artagnaise
Party Color(s): Dark Blue and White
Political views of the party: National Conservatism, Right-wing Populism
Number of seats in the lower chamber: 10/350
Power in national subdivisions: Deputy-Generals (state executives)- 0/7; Commonwealth General Assemblies- 0/7
Other notes: The Artagnan Patriotic League is the newest party, formed to contest the 2019 elections by hardline conservative NDP members after their walkout of the 2019 National Democratic Nominating Convention. Contesting mostly rural, conservative districts, the APL was able to double its seats in the Assembly. It did so on emphatically nationalist, outspokenly anti-globalistic themes, alleging the NDP had lost touch by embracing increasingly pro-trade and moderate immigration policies.
