Soviet Elections have begun, and the people of the USSR have lined up to the polls for the second time in the young Federation's history.
The Social Democratic Party is leading the front, with the current President, Mikhail Gorbachev, being the chairman of the party. The Communist Party is also suspected to be a close second, with the Agrarian Party also being expected to be in at least fourth in the rankings.
Parties not expected to gain traction are the Monarchist and Liberal Democratic Parties, with leaders of other parties, notably the Communist Party, saying that they have either "betrayed the revolution" or are "neo-fascistic demagogues". However, the CPSU has also called out the Conservative Christian Party and, surprisingly, the Social Democratic Party, calling them "sellouts to the west."
The SDP and the CCP have both fired back, saying that the CPSU is "remembering a bygone era" and/or "advocating not for pro-western and détente policies, but for a re-enactment of the Cold War."
