Your nation's space program and launch systems

Postby Roelandia » Thu Jun 13, 2019 3:59 am

Does your nation have a space program? And if so, what kind of launch systems (rockets and/or spaceplanes) does it use? What is its history?
Post it below! (Roelandia's space program overview can be found here: https://www.nationstates.net/page=dispatch/id=1196682 )

Our penchant for flying all over space is no more a "space program" than humans liking to drive everywhere is an "automobile program." It's just a routine part of a person's everyday life, at least if they're into interplanetary raiding (which most of us are).

For "launching..." (do humans really use such special terms for this?) ... we just start moving on the ground on foot - usually at a bit of a run - jump up, and transform into plane mode. Then we just keep flying higher until we're in space, and from there, activate FTL to get to whatever planet or asteroid we're traveling to. Once we're at a high enough altitude that there is no longer sufficient O2 for standard combustion, we switch to our space fuel. This part is automatic, so we don't really notice the transition.

We do have some guys who have what appear to be space shuttles as their alt modes. These are cargo-bots, and they're specialized to move large amounts of materials, merchandise, or loot to and from interplanetary locations. Like the rest of us, they do have a robot mode - one that is 10x bigger than the average Decepticon!

If a cargo-bot is hauling a load, he will take off from a specialized runway in shuttle mode, and then slowly circle ever-higher until he pulls free of gravity. When cargo-less, however, he'll take off like the rest of us do as long as he has a sufficiently-strong surface to jump up from.
No war RPs; no open RPs.

as with above, we are long past the stage of chinning ourselves on the side of our crib.

our "launch systems" are solid state gravity modulation technology, and interstellar trade a matter of schedules and tariffs.

the regulatory apparatus for this is global and not a direct concern for the sovereignty of our individual nations.

we do have one air and space port within our nation, with capacity to host trans-galactic traffic.
granted it is not home to any of the glamorous well known major freight and passenger lines.

but a small number of modest independent trans galactic traders call it home,
and there are feeder services available to several of the more major space ports.

Likewise, the Dushan master interplanetary and as well interstellar hyper travel since aeons at least since the late archaic era.

Insufficient OP, iLock. If you're going to start a discussion, it need be more than what amounts to an attempt to go, "Hey! Look at this dispatch I wrote!" If you want to show off your dispatch for advice/critique, the General F&NI Help Thread is there; if you just want to show it off, put it in your signature. Either expand your OP to include more than what amounts to "Let's discuss this, but I'm just going to link my dispatch rather than actually go into any sort of detail here," or follow one of the aforementioned options.
