Traditionally there has always been an East/West divide in the Huterric Union, with the east being more centre right and the west being more left wing. Generally though what Huterrica has mostly been a centre-left country, but in the modern day politics is shifting further left, from being predominantly socially liberal to now being social democratic. The largest and current governing party - The Freedom Party - are social democratic, with the One Huterrica party being either democratic socialists or de leonists. the Huterric centre-right would be considered centre-left in most other countries.

Socially the Huterric Union, regardless of location, has always been libertarian and progressive, being the earliest country to allow same sex marriage and the first country to give women the vote, having allowed them to vote on unification in 1796. This is mainly due to the laid back culture of Huterric people generally.

The Core Party has its own distinct ideology of civic based around a tendency to allow self governing with regions through political logistics to areas wishing more freedom from the states run by the assembly itself that aren't within direct line with it. Are Policy often mingles with Ba'ath or Titoism , though also with Falange or Classical Fascism along with some other beliefs like Moselyite and Juche along with other worker based beliefs like National Bolshevism. Generally speaking the party directly controls the whole assembly with secondary parties allowed semi control with semi organized groups allowed to make their own politics with town or regional settings away from directly handling the state like the assembly does through the assemblies union through the parties that actually the state , though due to how citizens are required to own firearms to properly manage defense along with militia units being mandatory due to conscription our nation often faces groups being formed from local assets going around mobilizing against the regime and attempting to break away from the state with arms they had gotten from the long tradition of local rural farmers using shotguns and some semi auto weapons which is still allowed directly due to the nature of politics since citizens often must know to defend themselves and it is permissible due to how militias are often semi run by local commanders without the government even asking due to loyalty to the regime itself meaning people simply fight out of wishing to hold nations ideals when fighting breaks out in an area. When their is disloyalty they are punished simple as that

The largest party in power is the democratic socialist party, which is a left wing political party, it doesn't have a majority in either chamber of legislature. The second largest party is the united republican/united republics party, which is very centrist, with an ever so slight right-lean. Then the third largest party is the social democratic party which is center-left. The liberty party is the fourth largest.

The conservative party used to be one of the two major parties (the center-left united republican and the right wing conservative party) but after politicians kept going to the right and the Zeganasian public kept going to the left, and with the advent of instant runoff/ranked choice voting, more parties have come into power, most notably the social democratic and democratic socialist parties. These days, the conservative party is a waning party as a represenatation of Zeganas's shrinking right wing.

Basically, we're rather far right. However, this is due to reasons from the Trianon treaty (which in this ATL managed to get reversed in borders, but we had to PAY our way back. AND WE DON'T WANNA LOSE ANY MORE MONEY THAN WE HAVE TO!).

Centrist Liberal - Social Market Economy combined with Social Liberalism.

On economic issues, Sao Nova Europa combines a market economy with regulations for health and safety. Businesses are subsidized by the government to drive economic growth and there is great leeway when it comes to firing employees. Employment laws are lax but there is a minimum wage. The state also provides free healthcare and education, maternity leave and lavish retirement/social security benefits. There is a 49% flat income tax, but government spending accounts only for 22.6% of the GDP. Overall, on the economic front the policy is that of Ordoliberalism.

On social issues, Sao Nova Europe is mostly socially liberal. Cannabis and other drugs have become legalized as is same-sex marriage, there is mandatory sex education in schools, abortions are legal and so is euthanasia. On other other hand, there is compulsory military service for all citizens aged 18 for 12 months and the police is both well-funded, militarized and has extensive resources (including legal) to crack down on crime.
