There are laws to protect Freedom of Speech in Charlotte Ryberg so censorship is largely voluntary. We do issue DA-Notices: official advisories on subjects which may threaten national security or the privacy of certain persons' personal lives as we see fit: although respected by many broadcasters and websites it is entirely transparent and voluntary.

Patoran does not censor vulgarity or sexuality in the media. However, most forms of commercial advertising are prohibited here, campaigns for political office are forbidden to accept private contributions, and, though a matter of some political controversy, a hate speech statute prohibits egregiously bigoted public speech against marginalized groups.

Free speech is very broad term, so how could it possibly be absolute? Well, when it comes to the media, it's not. The only thing is that we ban all pornography from regular cable channels and movie theatres.

Movies or television shows cannot be shown on television or in theatres should they have any overly disturbing, racist, or illegal content. They may be sold on DVD or video, but not in the nation's large video rental or sale chains and must bear a warning label.

There is a little censorship in Higueras. Libel and slander are forbidden, and it is also forbidden to defend or advocate crime or violence of any kind. Otherwise, people can print/say/broadcast almost anything they want to.

Libel, slander, and hate speech are banned.

Other than that, our citizens are allowed to speak pretty much whatever they want.

Well, our head of the Department of Culture and Media is a "light" atheist, but having no censorship on our media is not exactly absolute-strong language and graphic violence is not allowed on broadcast TV and radio. Sex and nudity is generally more acceptable, although it is still sometimes frowned upon in some quarters. Also, let the record show that the "Christian Right" over in the kingdom are slightly more centrist than the "Christian Right" in America.

We have no media censorship laws, excepting the Official Secrets Act which proscribes publishing of military or other governmental classified documents. Just check out our tabloids sometime, and you'll see what I mean. Those buggers will publish most anything. :p

All large scale print, film, and broadcast media must be approved by either the Ministry of Culture or the Ministry of Information, depending on the nature of the publication or program. Smaller publications and websites with local service face far less restrictions as national or provincial ones, however the government can still shut down a paper or website for blatantly counter-revolutionary or seditious material. Criticism of the government isn't banned outright, so long as it is not seditious, violent, or reactionary in nature.

The distribution of any government secrets, military or otherwise, is strictly prohibited, and carries severe punishment.

Most foreign materials are effectively banned as few foreign distributors care to go through arduous bureaucracy required to receive a permit to publish within the People's Republic of Guanzhong

The only censorship we have is regarding disagreeing with The Party. Naturally this can get quite complex. For example, anything that The Party has declared immoral cannot be shown as a moral act.

All media sources must first be cleared for public viewing by the government. This includes books, films, newspapers, music, web sites and television. Things that are incorrect by going against the empire are forbidden, for the security of citizens.
