Smaller nations, and unstable ones, tend to either think of us as bullies or conquerors, though this is not our intent. Much like the Empire before us, as they wane, we try to rise to the challenge of providing the disparate peoples of the world a defender when they are either unwilling or unable to defend themselves. Unlike the Empire which preceded us, we are not unwilling to use force to get evil men to stop being evil... permanently.

In short, they hate us for being imperialistic do-gooders on one hand or being stupid colonials on the other. Or worse, both.

- The Malebarans consider us, like basically everyone else they meet, to be "hypersocial savages"
- The Gordonites think we are too artificial and reliant on our comfortable lifestyles (they live a primitive lifestyle out in the desert, around the Gordon Oasis)
- The Rolaxians also tend to share this view, although in their case it's usually projection as we are very similar (except unlike us they don't live in domes)
- The Capers usually think that our aesthetics are ugly and our people are loud, immoral and obnoxious
- The Volemites also find our aesthetics ugly, but for different reasons, and consider us to overly reserved and timid

We only share a border with the first three civilisations, but it's the Capers who are our real rivals on the planet. Caper propaganda portrays us as a massive threat to their way of life, whereas opportunities for interaction with Gordonites are rare and very few people have even seen a real Malebaran
