Has your nation ever had a colony or been colonized?

Swakland has had several colonies.
Transarid,Gaberzia, and Koonaynay
Are all former Swakish colonies,
and the Swakish Caribbean and Swakish Polynesia are still part of Swakland to this day.
5 Total colonies through her history.

Swakland was never as cruel of a conquerer as Spain or Britain but Swakland probably didn’t do these nations any favors either.

by TURTLESHROOM II
From 1600 AD to 1796 AD, what would become TurtleShroom was nominally a colony of the Russian Empire. Until 1796 AD. Aside from some ceremonial homage and "tribute" to the Russian Crown, the Russian Empire neither cared for nor listed TurtleShroom as part of their holdings.

The Missionaries that would go on to found TurtleShroom were Russian Protestant Christians expelled by Tsar False Dmitry I (for their support of him) during the Russian Time of Troubles, coupled with Baptist Anglo-Saxons who joined them when the expelled Russian fleet docked in the area around 1600 AD. Later, Russian Old Believer Orthodox Christians would flood in along with an ever-increasing, majority immigration of Baptists (who convinced the initial Russian Protestants to switch denominations). Until the twenty-first century, the mainstream Russian belief that Tsar False Dmitry was not the son of Tsar Ivan and was not a legitimate Tsar was not taught in TurtleShroom or recognized by TurtleShroomian historians.

In 1796 AD, after the Missionaries united with the two non-human Khanates whose populations converted to Christianity, they formally requested the Russian Crown to grant them "independence". This was an act done in name only, and the basic summary of the Tsar's answer was "wait you still exist, then I guess, yeah, sure, whatever".

There's this really small bunch of micronations on Ithreland's western border who "rebelled" but still rely upon us for utility infrastructure. It seemed simpler to "grant" them their "independence" than send in soldiers, especially when several of them caved due to high "utility" bills.

The Empire has had colonies in Africa and the Pacific. They're now integrated as either autonomous self-governing territories or states, in the case of Namibia.

First of all....why cant we be both?
My country has been colonized and then we Revolted and we gained colonizes.

Also yes we have Australia (we just rolled on in and they surrendered) and the entire carribean under our control.(which we gained in a massive naval war against america)

Zhouran has never in its entire several-millennia-long history ever been occupied nor colonized. Instead, during ancient and medieval times, the Zhouranese did in fact colonized islands in the Pacific with a few of those having indigenous people that ended up being extinct. As a result, these colonized islands are part of what is called Overseas Zhouran and are ethno-culturally Zhouranese.

I’m sorry, I didn’t think of that

Wochaystein is essentially founded as a colony of the Hanseatic League.

Not truly colonized in the western imperial sense, but we have been invaded and conquered by both Russia from the 18th century-1991 and by Nazi Germany from 1941-1944/45. We have also have a long history of never going quietly, and constantly being a pain in our occupiers' sides with numerous revolts and uprisings against Russia and a successful resistance movement against Nazi Germany, as well as continuing to resist reintegration by the Soviets after WWII with the goal of reestablishing an independent state.

The German Empire holds some colonies, mostly in Africa and Southeast Asia, and is constantly trying to improve these areas, with the intention of eventually releasing them as self-sufficient vassal states.

by Greater Eireann
Greater Eireann has numerous colonies across the world (and even off-world), but we try to be relatively hands-off with most of them. Colonies have their own Senate and defence/police force, and they are allowed to largely set their own policies. In our colonies, we are mostly concerned with Evangelism and a general improvement of the lives of the native peoples. We do, however, still need resources for the Empire as a whole, so we run businesses and companies in these territories for them. We try to avoid exploitation, and we try to treat the natives as best as we can. Overall, we are quite unique and benevolent colonisers, especially in the universe that my nation exists in.

When the entire county from the Golden Republic of Garhoogin left, they had to form colonies, which eventually formed to be a nation, with states representing the colonies. A more in-depth perspective can be explained here

being an chernobyl-based at that.

we are an "colony" of Ukraine but are attempting to leave it peacefully and take Chernobyl with us.

Nantoraka was colonized by the Brits in the mid-1600s, and the native islanders eventually - through disease and guerrilla warfare - drove off the Brits in the early 1700s.

We had one in the reign of the first Queen Yocasta centuries ago but lost it in the chaos after her fall from power and death.

No, our nation has never had a colony or even been colonized in any point of it's history on earth although it does space colonies. The space colonies are, so far, in Mars and The Moon, although there are plans for further expansion for Mercury and Venus(once the nation's technology is advanced enough to cope with the heat, that is), some of the moons of the Gas Giants, the dwarf planets and possibly other neighbouring solar systems in the Milky Way. This is because the archipelago that the nation covers is surrounded by a giant permanent anticyclone(no one knows why the anticyclone has never changed since the formation of the archipelago), preventing any foreign ships from reaching the archipelago. This is also the main reason why PS has never had a colony, although it was also partly because the inhabitants(which included sentient beings that were not Homo Sapiens) never had interest in exploring beyond their native lands. In fact, by the time Homo Sapiens even knew about the existence of the archipelago(in 1998 when a satellite captured images of the land), most nations, that had known it's existence at that time, were not interested in colonialism.

We were a colony of Great Britain from 1715 to 1876.

From 1607-1707 we have been colonised by the Spaniards, until we've got our independence through an alliance with England, Ottoman Empire and some Malay states. However we've purchased some territories also known as the Principalities of Butuan and Valencia in 1709, three years after independence.

by Gandoor
While Gandoor was settled by the English, these territories were never a colony of the Kingdom of England nor any of its successor states, such as the Kingdom of Great Britain or the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Similarly, Gandoor has never colonized any other lands, all Gandoorese territory consists of the main Gandoorese continent and the various small islands surrounding it which are internationally recognized as part of the continent. The closest we've come to 'colonizing' was when the Kingdom of Ganbano, an independent nation on the island of Descar, located about 50 km off the southeastern coast, was dissolved and the island became a territorial possession of Gandoor known as Descar Territory in 1886, following a mutual agreement and treaty signed between the governments of both the Nzardom of Gandoor and the Kingdom of Ganbano. Descar's status as Descar Territory would last until 1903, when the island became part of the newly created Hegmon Yon, following the Gandoor Revolution.

In a sense. Cascadia currently occupies some American territory that they have not laid claim to in Alaska. This is mostly just the endeavor of an ambitious Northern Theater Director, as Central Corporate plans on gobbling up any and all of America's fallen resources that they can.

Historically, the Hyati Empire was an aggressive expansionist, on par with Japan's expansion in World War II. In modern times, these colonies either became independent or were returned to their original owners, and we have remained comfortable on our islands.

by Orassa
In one sense, yes. Orassa began as a colony established by pirates in the 17th century. Originally little more than a safe harbor, Orassa soon expanded into a pirate port, offering pirates a secure place to sell their loot and resupply. Jewish refugees settled the interior, producing the food and naval supplies needed by the pirates. However, at no point was Orassa ruled by a foreign power, nor has Orassa become a colonizer.
