Rules and Guidelines
- Limits: Every nation is allowed to have one nation on the map. You may not have puppets on the map.
- Removal: If your nation ceases to exist (CTEs), you leave the region, or you are inactive in the roleplay for more than 14 days you will be removed from the map. In outstanding circumstances, at the order of the Governor of the Democratika and/or Minister of Roleplay, you may be removed from the map for violating roleplay quality expectations or breaking the laws of the Democratika. However, if for some reason (vacation, family emergency, seasonal migration) you need to be absent for more than 14 days please notify the Minister of Roleplay and you will be shown mercy.
- Claiming: Exercise restraint with your initial claim. Absurdly large claims will be rejected, as will claims with an excessive population, as determined by the Minister of Roleplay and Cartographer. You must complete the full New Claim Application (provided below) to receive a spot on the map, if you do not fill out the application completely, or in a satisfactory manner, you will not be added to the map until you do so.
- Expansion: Any nation seeking to expand their claim must complete an Expansion Application (provided below) before beginning the process of in-character expansion. Expansion must be accompanied by at least five in-character posts of at least 400 words each before it will be officially added to the map. Each nation is allowed three (3) expansions, any further requests for expansion after those three will be denied by the Minister of Roleplay and Cartographer. In total, a nation may not expand its total claim to over 150% the size of its initial claim. For example, a nation whose initial claim totaled 100,000 square kilometers may, at maximum, expand to 150,000 square kilometers.
You must properly complete the New Claim Application to be initially added to the map. You must properly complete the Expansion Application before you begin the process of expanding in-character. After you post your application, the Minister of Roleplay will review it and approve or deny it based on the quality of the application. If need be, they will consult other members of the government and the cartographer to determine the legitimacy of your application. Please allow up to two days (48 hours) for your application to be processed and reviewed. If you application is denied you will be given the chance to appropriately edit and resubmit your application.
Please remove the guiding comments in parentheses when you post your application. If you don’t do that your IQ may be too low to be on our map.
New Claim Application:
- Code: Select all
[box]Nation Name: (The shorthand name of your nation, what someone would call your nation in casual conversation; not that anyone wants to talk about your nation…)
Full Nation Name: (The complete name of your nation, including official title of your nation i.e Russian Federation or United Mexican States, even though colloquially those nations are known by different names)
Territorial Claim: (Please open a copy of the map in a program like Paint and draw as specific an outline as possible as to where you would like your nation to be on the map. Please exercise restraint, your nation should not be excessively sized. We have a method to determine land area of your nation, which will be provided to you, but if your claim is too large it will be denied on this basis alone)
Population: (Ok, here’s the deal, the average country has about 34 million people. Understandably, you’ll want to be larger than that, but keep in mind you don’t have to have a billion people to be a global superpower. Like your territorial claim, exercise restraint here. Find real-life countries similar to what you want your nation to be like and choose population similar to them. Ludicrous populations will be rejected)
Capital City: (Where do all the big government deals go down in your nation?)
Governmental Structure: (This should be a somewhat detailed description, beyond just saying “constitutional monarchy” or “republic” you should describe the actual breakdown of your government, the executive, the legislature, the judiciary, give us some insight in how your nation runs)
Ideology: (Yes, we know the system of government in your nation, but what ideas power the machine? Are your leaders conservative, socialists, liberal, anarchists? Your nation will be home to diverse ideas, or maybe not if suppression is trendy in it, but what’s the leading one?)
Head of Government: (Self-explanatory, hopefully)
Head of State: (Equally self-explanatory)
Official Language(s): (Even though it’s a fake map and a new world, just use real languages. You don’t need to invent a language for our roleplay. We’ll work out new names for them eventually)
Terrain: (Consult the official terrain map to determine this, but provide a more detailed description of what the general landscape of your nation is like)
Climate: (What’s the general climate of your nation like? What are the seasons like, how much perspiration do you get, how sunny is it, etc? Try to follow typical conventions, you won’t be a tropical paradise up north, just like you won’t be a frozen tundra near the middle of the map)
Size of Armed Forces: (During peacetime the size of your armed forces should not exceed 4% of your total population. In wartime, it may double)
Distribution of Military Budget: (Give some numbers that add up to 100% about how the budget allocated to the armed forces is divided between the army, navy, and air force)
National Attitude Towards Military: (How does the average citizen of your nation view the military? Do they view it kindly or as a necessary evil? Realistically, this would affect your nation’s ability to become involved in conflicts that place a strain on the general population)
Currency: (What are the dolla, dolla, dolla bills in your nation called?)
Economic System: (Are you capitalist, socialist, or something else entirely?)
Economic Strengths: (What are major industries in your nation and points of strength? What do you have to offer to the global market?)
Economic Weaknesses: (No nation is perfect economically, what resources do you need to important to survive? How do you rely on the rest of the world?)
History: (As we use a fake map, a lot of your history will be created collaboratively with the nations around you, but what are some basics about your nation? How did it come to be? What are some big events in its history? What is the pre-history of the land you occupy?)
Writing Sample: (Please provide a 300-500 word writing sample. It will be evaluated for grammar and clarity. It should be a realistic post that you might write and put up on our in-character thread. If your application is approved, you may use it as your first post on our in-character thread. In fact, you will be encouraged to do so, please try hard on this area of the application)[/box]
Expansion Application:
- Code: Select all
[box]Nation Name:
Why? (Why are you expanding? What in-characters justifications do you have to expand your claim? Wanton or frivolous reasons like “I want more population” will not be approved and any attempts at expansion for such a childish cause will be denied)
How? (How do you plan to expand in-character? Will military force be used? Will diplomatic attempts be made?)
What? (As in what is the land you’re expanding into like? Is it an anarchical state? Is it a peaceful farming area? Is it a feudal state ruled by a cruel king?)
What roadblocks will you encounter? (These roadblocks must be created by you. You may know that another player will oppose your expansion, but you must present realistic opposition within your own posts too. Will local militias fight back? Will citizens rally against your leaders once the land is secured?)
Expanded Claim: (Please post an image indicating your expanded claim)[/box]
