What are popular shows in YN?

Postby New Periapsis » Wed Jan 16, 2019 2:29 pm

Exactly what it says on the tin. Just a simple forum game meant for showing some of the things people watch in your nation. I'll start to provide an example.

Program Name: Trailertown 4
Genre: Comedy/Historical fiction, Live-action (scripted)
Medium: Television/Internet
Plot Summary:
Though humorously exaggerated, the show Trailertown 4 depicts typical life in one of the most eccentric social experiment sites created by the Periapsis Societal Utopian Project during 1996 near the Clinch and Echols County border within the American state of Georgia. The overall plot is based on the Trailertown 4 experiment personnel's day-to-day antics, overarching storylines based on actual events and the PSUP as a whole, as well as their occasionally intersecting consequences. Administrator 4, known as David Perkins, is shown in almost every episode to be hopelessly attempting to manage the campus of tents, mobile trailers, and deconstructable building structures. Along with the small administration team delegated by Periapsis to help manage and observe the results of the social experiment, John is left completely bewildered how despite undergoing a thorough screening process against all odds resulted in the hand-picked selection of volunteers he is forced to work with. The site's multinational group of maniacal geniuses however, pay no attention or merely consider this detail and immediately begin to work with great fervor both alone and interdependently on various projects; the resulting innovations or scientific research with problematic issues such as ethical or even legal violations along with near constant site-wide chaos stemming from thinking impetuously of the consequences. The Administration staff are left unsure on how to approach the issue as collaboration were all goals for the artificial culture they were trying to attempt implementing.

Program Name: Alpha Cobalt Tabla
Genre: Action, Animation
Medium: Television
Plot Summary:
ACT is a popular animated webseries made by Alidale Productions, a fictitious company made by Periapsis citizen Johnathan Harvey as a method of highlighting his work. Since 2011, the show has additionally begun to air on television during Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday mornings. Created on October 5, 2010, the cartoon showed the highlights in the life of various Periapsis Mobile Task Force personnel through a tapestry of interconnecting plot threads perpetuated by the consequences of previous actions. The plot of most episodes focuses on a different MTF each time, periodically with the appearances of other MTFs in order to show the synergy between departments when faced with a common goal and set of necessary skills. Most notably, a fair number of episodes are unorthodox in content in order to reinforce the show's realism–such as a total of 5 episodes mostly centered around personnel-to-personnel interactions in order to showcase the amount of waiting and inactivity is actually involved in the military.

Program Name: 141677
Genre: Surreal, Animation
Medium: Internet
Plot Summary:
141677 is a webseries created by an anonymous individual. Using crude 3D animation and modeling with text-to-speech that is frequently distorted, episodes typically last anywhere from 1 to 6 minutes. The small but notable fanbase claim it is often quite topical and provides a gripping experience through the show's natural ineffably strange atmosphere.

Program Name: X Contingency
Genre: Science fiction, Live-action (scripted)
Medium: Television
Plot Summary:
Inspired by the events of November 9, 2012, X Contingency is a Sci-Fi television series by Hailey Burešová debuted in late 2013 surrounding various unexplained paranormal phenomena. Periodically, narrative supplementals show the reactions of international organizations, governments, and civilians upon the discovery of anomalies along with their subsequent actions done as a result. The series' main conflict revolves around a number of organizations and government projects, such as the Anomalous Containment Agency, a division of the PSUP known as "Project Galdur", and the anomalies they struggle to contain with a mysterious overarching conflict between Humanity and the anomalous. The show also includes occasional cameos from various small groups attempting to abuse the unexplained for their own short-sighted gain while a war between clandestine organizations to gain intelligence on each other rages on silently behind the scenes.

Program Name: The Professor
Genre: Science-fiction, Live-action (scripted)
Medium: Television
Plot Summary: Having been broadcast on GBN since 1958, The Professor is a series which has evolved throughout its decades on the air. When the program debuted, it focused on the titular character and his young companion, Jo, who believed themselves to be the last survivors of a destroyed alien civilization who had made a last-ditch escape to Earth via a small space and teleportation ship. Unfortunately, their ship had crashed to Earth and was now disabled, causing them to be stranded on Earth. While on Earth, they would recruit the assistance of various allies and help defend the Earth from threats.

In the early 1970s, The Professor and Jo's ship was fully repaired (in 1961, the ship was repaired to the point where they could use it to teleport to locations on Earth, something which conveniently coincided with the program getting a larger budget for the creation of more sets) and the assistant concept was dropped and, while the program didn't abandon Earth entirely, many episodes were now set on alien worlds of various types and featured the two heroes facing against various threatening alien creatures and other monsters.

The Professor originally came to an end following the conclusion of its 41st programme in 1997, following an announcement by the GBC in 1996 that the series would end due to several years of declining ratings.

A 50th anniversary special was broadcast in 2008, the first new televised production for The Professor in over ten years. Despite achieving high ratings (it was the highest rated program the night of broadcast), the GBC confirmed that this was a special one-off production and there were no plans on reviving the series as a regular television program.

In 2010, however, a television revival of The Professor was announced, due to air in 2011. Much like the 2005 revival of the popular BBC series Doctor Who, the revival was a continuation of the original program and featured Tom Williamson and Alexis Smith reprising their roles as The Professor and Jo.

The revived series of The Professor featured the return of the assistant concept, which had been abandoned during the 17th programme of the original series run in 1973, and, most famously, during its 9th programme in 2019, featured the death of the titular character, as actor Tom Williamson (aged 79 at the time) wished to retire from the role. While there were rumours that the series would do something similar to regeneration from Doctor Who (and the GBC did reveal that they considered making the character younger somehow, but ultimately considered the character too inherently tied to the actor to recast), The Professor ultimately passed on his title to his faithful companion and loyal friend Jo, although she generally doesn't refer to herself as The Professor out of deference to her late friend.

Program Name: Az, As, Ej (As, Is, The)
Genre (optional): Game Show
Medium (optional): Television
Plot Summary: Spelling game show. There are 3 teams of 3 called Az, As and Ej respectively. They have 1 minute to work out a random phrase. The audience shouts out hints, but traditional Eskaaijan folk music is blasting out when they are guessing. If they have got it, they have to write it on a whiteboard. If the phrase is 3 words long, the audience shouts out if it is correct. They shout ''Az'' if one word is right, ''As'' if 2 are right, and ''Az, As, Ej!'' if all is correct. That team gets 5 points.
Útiszut, Útiszut, tuón Útiszut nu!:
Translates to: News, news, get news now!. This is the Elimination Round. The teams have to guess news headlines from a mash up of pictures provided. The team who get the least right are sent home. The winning teams get the losing team's points. (Split 50/50)
Pze, pze Eskaai!:
This is the head to head round. The teams go head to head in a competition chosen by the audience. Say it's folk dancing. The teams have to do their best to folk dance. They are given a brief course beforehand, then they are pitted against each other. The audience then have to vote for which team is best. The losing team go home. The winning team gets all the losing team's points.
Otkúljen:
Translates to: They All Depart. The winning team has to do the same activity as in round one. This is the last chance to rack up more points and they have a limit of 5 minutes to do it in. The only difference is that instead of the audience saying ''Az, As, Ej!'', a green light and a ding is used for every correct word or phrase. Every word/phrase is worth 2 points. When the 5 minutes is up, the points get changed into Zjuts. (1 point=10Zj/15USD). The money is divided into three, and the team go home, content with what they've earned.
