Adulthood is 21, but citizens and permanent residents are able to vote at 16. An average citizen will have received eleven years of political and historical education by then, and as such are well-prepared to vote. Driver's Licences are available at age 14. The drinking age is a soft 18, meaning that drinks can be gradually and responsibly phased in in order to curb binge drinking.

Within the Human Star State and its centuries of history, it has become common knowledge that one reaches adulthood informally through two routes, in order of importance:

1. Entry into military service at eighteen,
2. Early entry into collegiate education at sixteen.

Those born with heightened intelligences are expected to mature at faster rates, and as such, it is informally considered that the bright who are able to graduate early from secondary education are adults. However, most youth graduate from secondary schooling at eighteen years old and enter military service with the various armed forces of the nation, and thus crystallize the militarist culture of the Human Star State through forming this as the most salient form of "reaching adulthood".

16 is when someone is legally an adult, but the age of consent is 15. However, people aren't considered to be 'mature' until 21. Drinking age is 18, and people can smoke weed and use all other recreational drugs at age 18.

Typically 18 is the age required for both genders to legally be considered an adult in Arkait. However, a boy can be considered an adult at as young an age as 14 if they own property. This comes from an old Arkaiti tradition where a farm would usually be given off to the family's first son once they turned 14. This tradition is no longer widely practiced, however.
