At age 16, a person can:
- Vote
- Drive (with restrictions)
- Purchase Class B and C drugs (includes alcohol with ABV less than 6%, marijuana, mild sedatives, and weak opioids)
- Make financial, educational, and medical decisions, within reason
- Have legal adult status (can be tried as an adult)
- Have a part-time (20 hrs/week) job
- Apply to be emancipated from parents (this can be done before age 16 in the case of parental abuse). In addition, individuals over 16 with divorced parents can choose how much time to spend with each parent, custody agreements are rendered void on one's 16th birthday.
- Become a Senator
At age 18, a person can:
[*]Purchase Class A ("hard") drugs (heroin, cocaine, tranquilizers, nicotine, hard liquor)
[*]Drive with none of the legal restrictions placed upon a 16 year old
[*]Have the choice of no longer attending school (this right is also granted to anyone who graduates high school in good standing before turning 18).
[*]Have a full time (up to 45 hrs/week) job.
[*]Gamble (to prevent the devastation that accompanies gambling addiction, citizens may only gamble 1,600 USD per month, win or lose.)
[*]Be legally independent (a child under 18 is still technically obligated to obey his/her parents, unless they are abusive or grossly negligent of the child)
[*]Become a Royal Court Justice
[*]Become a member of the King's Cabinet
Fun fact, there is no age limit for the Monarch. One can be King/Queen at any age, given the Senate's approval.
