National information
Official Name: Republic of Yintang
Shortened Name:Yintang
Requested Location:
Requested Population: 16 mil
Culture: Yintaosian is the primary culture in Yintang. Yintaosian beliefs are fused with their 'religious' beliefs, which is more of a philosophy like confucianism. In their culture they encourage hard work, where your spirit grows with your deeds and accomplishments.
  • Ethnicity: Yintaosian almost completely dominates the ethnic entity of Yintang, however plenty of foreigners arrived in the region looking for opportunitys.
  • Religion: Minghoanism, years ago founded by the philosopher Ming-Hoa, was a spiritual thought in which your accomplishments strengthened your spirit in the afterlife, and ancestors who did great things would be venerated and remembered by the family as well as living lavishly in death.
  • Languages: Yintaosian is spoken everywhere-- It is most similar to traditional chinese.
    Government Type: Thalassocracy
Head of State: Xingzheng Guan Shi Xun
Head of Government: Shouxiang Xiao Kailing
Requested GDP Per Capita: $56,435 in US Dollars
National Overview: Yintang was always a republic-- No one remembers a time from before the republic, all that has ever been known was tradition and is still tradition. Thousands of years ago, the Republic of Yintang had existed in isolation from the rest of the world, its people had many great philosophers and lived prosperously. They developed oceangoing naval vessels and explored the seas, claiming many colonies and resources, which they trade with the rest of the world.

    Social views:
    • General population's view on LGBT+ rights/LGBT+ people: The majority of Yintang does not care about homosexuality-- It is up to the person to decide what makes them happy, as long as they are productive.
    • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Yintaosians view other religions openly and many practice other religions syncretically with Minghoanism.
    • General population's view on atheism: Atheism is incredibly small as Yintaosian tradition is in essence spiritual but not a strict religion, and only encourages morals and good thought.
    • General population's view on abortion: Abortion is seen by many Yintaosians as unethical.
    • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Yintaosians have no grudge against any foreigners, and many mix with them.
    • Any big prejudices in your nation: Laziness.
    • View on immigration into country: Immigration is encouraged.
    • Women's Rights: Women have the exact same potential as men.
    • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs:
Drugs are seen with bitterness, however not legal, many refrain from use of drugs because they encourage bad behaviors.

    • Factbook: I'll do iiwiki if i get accepted.
    • RP Preferences: Military/Diplo
    • RP Samples: Don't really have any that I am able to share but I have had years of roleplay experience primarily in World of Warcraft, but also in discord roleplay servers. I'll take the prompt though.
    • RP Intentions: Everything
    • Primary/Other NS Nations: I had other ones but they're inactive and i havn't touched them in months. I don't plan to.
    • [b]Any troubles with moderation? (If so, a link, please.): Nope.
    • Anything else?:

Carcosa 2.0, with lots of sexy maps available on request

National information
Official Name: Republic of Carcosa / República de la Carcosa
Shortened Name: Carcosa/La Carcosa
Requested Location: Existing Carcosa location
Requested Population: 10.68M
Culture: I'm going to be using Castilian as the main language (Carcosian), the culture will be more of a melting pot between Carcosian, Gaullican, various other Euclean influences, and Coian and Badawiyan influences as well.
  • Ethnicity: Ethnic Carcosians are the largest plurality, at 42% of the population, but Carcosa is a majority-minority country with a vast array of Euclean and Coian ethnic groups.
  • Religion: Solarian Catholicism is the largest religious group, followed by Salam, but Carcosa is a fairly secular country, with atheists or people subscribing to no faith constituting a significant portion of the population, and many of those who identify with a religion often do not regularly attend services.
  • Languages: *Carcosian
Many others are spoken, however, and the government keeps translation services well-funded.
Government Type: Unicameral parliamentary system-- however, Carcosa's Senate (its legislative body) is not unlike RL Hong Kong's LegCo in that it gives a significant number of seats to various major industries and economic sectors (and, unlike Hong Kong, but a bit like Thailand or other juntas, a small number of seats are granted to the military and the security services), in addition to having directly elected representatives. The Senate elects the First Consul (essentially the PM), who then appoints a government and a Second Consul (who in practice is often a rival or member of the opposition, and is a bit like a vice-president in the US, but must be confirmed by the Senate like a minister).
Head of State: First Consul Delia Chacón
Head of Government: see "Head of State"
Requested GDP Per Capita: est. $54.5K nominal (abt midway between Hong Kong and Singapore/NYC- Gini coefficient is gonna be quite high, so I'll still have lots of poors lol)
National Overview:
- like Greco-Phoenicia crap idfk, stuff with Tyrian purple (aka Carcosian purple heh)
- Carthage to Solaria's Rome
- Second city of the empire
- Constantinople to Solaria's Rome (in terms of cities- didn't really go the Byzantine Empire route, that was Gaullica)
- Venice-like role in the Middle Ages and Renaissance
- power wanes in the early modern period
- becomes Gaullican protectorate during 1800s
- becomes important city in wider Gaullican empire
- oppressed more during the Great War, resistance movement to Gaullica starts, most of city bombed to smithereens, liberated by the Allies
- postwar partnership with some non-EC great power, rebuilding and rapid growth (Miracle on the Aurean? possible name for this period)
- possible tension w Tsabara and/or Etruria in tumultuous postwar period, militarization, greater alignment w EC powers
- things settle down, Carcosa remains outside the EC but mostly friendly to it

Carcosa is a big financial center for Coius and also for Euclea, a big shipping hub for the whole world, and a big petro town. It's got lots of immigrants and is a diverse megacity. At home, politics has alternately been run by several parties (which mostly serve as vehicles for the great families that head them up, like RL India's Congress party and the Gandhi family) since the end of the Great War, and the government is heavily influenced by big business, the bureaucracy, the military, and the security services (collectively forming a sort of deep state-like entity). Lots of infighting and intrigue.

Abroad, it's mostly pretty chill, content to make money, though it takes more interest in affairs in Badawiya, and is sometimes wary towards the EC and the reach of an "imperial" Kesselbourg (a century of Gaullican imperial domination left Carcosa with a bit of a complex). Its wealth, global connections, location, and disproportionately well-equipped military (probably has conscription like Singapore) and intelligence services let it punch a bit above its weight when it's so inclined to mess around in international affairs (after the war, when it partnered with some unspecified non-Euclean great power, I'm thinking it spent a lot on the military, not unlike how Cuba did and got lots of USSR aid, though it now spends less and relies more on the EC).

Social views:
  • General population's view on LGBT+ rights/LGBT+ people: They can marry and adopt
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Carcosa is very secular, no one really cares
  • General population's view on atheism: See above
  • General population's view on abortion: Legal through the second trimester, very late-term abortions are only legal in cases of rape, incest, or threats to the mother's life
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): There's some animosity/friction, but not an outrageous amount-- ethnic Carcosians dominate
  • Any big prejudices in your nation: Recent populations of Badawiyan/Coian immigrants are more looked down upon/marginalized, Gaullica is still viewed w some suspicion
  • View on immigration into country: Give me your tired your poor your hungry masses yearning to work for low wages and power dat ECONOMIC GROWTHHHH
  • Women's Rights: Equal rights, but sexism is still fairly pervasive
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: State monopoly on hard liquor and recently-fully-legalized marijuana, some drugs have been decriminalized, some remain illegal (Carcosa uses a lot of narcotics, so local culture is fairly permissive)

  • Factbook: don't have one
  • RP Preferences: Intrigue/espionage
  • RP Samples: boi
  • RP Intentions: RP, worldbuilding, shitposting in Discord, etc
  • Primary/Other NS Nations: dis 1
  • Any troubles with moderation? (If so, a link, please.): nothing special
  • Anything else?: yes, but I'm not going to say what :p

National information
Official Name: Auspicious Republic of Xiaodong
Shortened Name: Xiaodong
Requested Location: (Please provide a map of your desired claims.)
Requested Population:[/b ]553,746,000
The plurality culture of Xiaodong is comparable to Chinese culture (closer to southern Chinese culture but not discounting northern Chinese as well). However it contains many other diverse cultures including but not limited to a Mongolian/Manchu/Turkic-esque steppe culture, Nepali, Tibetan and Uyghur.
  • Ethnicity: 58.4% Chinese, 13.2% Duljunese (Tugunsic people), 8.8% Hakka, 5.3% Nepali, 4.2% Tujia, 3.7% She, 1.5% Vietnamese, 0.8% Tibetan and 4.1% of other ethnic groups*
*Note this is subject to heavy adjustment and change depending on neighbours, map placement etc etc.
  • Religion: At the moment Chinese folk religions, especially Salvationist sects. However I am open to changing this the future.
  • Languages: Xiaodongese (Mandarin Chinese) and Shuking (Cantonese) are official languages on a national level. Duljunese and Nepali are officials languages in devolved regions.
Government Type: Unitary parliamentary republic (de jure)
Centralised one-party dictatorship (de facto)
Head of State: President/Chairman Yuan Xiannian
Head of Government: Premier Xi Yao-tong
Requested GDP Per Capita: $9,574 nominal, $17,535
National Overview: The home of the Xiaodongese people, Xiaodong was first united by the Jianzhao Emperor in 200 BEC under the Xiang dynasty which ruled Xiaodong from 200 BCE to its collapse in 500 CE - during the rule of the Xiang dynasty Confucianism and Taoism became prevalent. Following the Xiang for 100 years Xiaodong was politically unstable in the period known as the "War of Four Kingdoms" as rival warlords and nobles fought for control. In 731 Xiaodong was united again under the Tao dynasty that introduced Buddhism and Kamism whilst overseeing the high point of Xiaodongese literature and art. However, in 1415 the Tao dynasty was usurped by the Jiao clan who created the Jiao dynasty, which fused Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism together to create Taojiao. Although initially wealthy, by the 1600's the Jiao dynasty was being torn apart by civil war and uprisings, most disastrously the Red Orchid Rebellion in 1656. In 1680 the dynasty finally collapsed, resulting in a new dynasty that became known for overseeing a large social decline. In the 1800’s the nation was beaten by foreign powers such as Gaullica who imposed unequal treaties and in 1869 was forced to default on its debt leading to Eucleans to take control of the country’s finances. In 1876 military officers staged the Baiqiao Revolution which overthrew the dynasty and enthroned of the Xiyong Emperor who created the Heavenly Xiaodongese Empire (a semi-constitutional monarchy) and oversaw a period of economic modernisation and semi-constitutional rule. Between 1875-1888 Xiaodong subjugated neighbouring countries, turning it into a puppet state. In 1911 Xiaodong underwent the Constitutional Revolution which led to the creation the first Xiaodongese constitution.

During the 1920's the Xiaodongese state became more totalitarian which heightened under the Zhanxun Emperor leading to in 1927 Xiaodong ijoining Gaullica in the Great War. The war resulted in a Xiaodongese defeat and internal rebellion with the creation of the State of Xiaodong and the start of the Xiaodongese Civil War. These military failures led to in 1940 the Xiaodongese government to be overthrown in the Corrective Revolution by a group of young military officers who created the Auspicious Republic of Xiaodong, an ostensibly democratic republic, but in practice a dominant party "guided democracy" under the Xiaodong Regeneration Society headed by Lu Keqian who enacted many far reaching political, economic and social reforms. In 1988 Xiaodong transitioned into a multi-party democracy and after 1984 began to marketise its economy, although the Xiaodong Regeneration Society has maintained a monopoly on political power. This political hegemony was challenged in 2017 leading to the beginning of "Normalisation under Yuan Xiannian.

Social views:
  • General population's view on LGBT+ rights/LGBT+ people: LGBT rights were decriminalised outside the criminal code in 1941. Xiaodong does not currently criminalise private, non-commercial homosexual acts among consenting adults, yet Xiaodongese law does not protect LGBT community against discrimination and hate crimes. It was registered by the Xiaodongese Psytriatric Organisation as a mental illness in 1989.

Despite governmental conservatism, societal views are really mixed. In general public discourse is uninterested or ambivalent about homosexuality, and traditional sentiments on family obligations and discrimination remains a significant factor deterring same-sex attracted people from coming out.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: TBA dependent on when I figure out religion.
  • General population's view on atheism: TBA on this as well.
  • General population's view on abortion: Abortion is not a major political and social issue. A two-child policy is currently in effect and is somewhat contested by the population.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Xiaodong is an ethnically chauvinist nation. Although Xiao people only have a slight majority they are seen to discriminate
  • Any big prejudices in your nation: Negarans and !Japanese.
  • View on immigration into country: Emigration is a greater problem with the government attempting to limit it and raise wages to keep professionals in the country. Immigration of guest workers is seen more positively by the government to incentivise cheaper labour albeit this has been negatively received by the population.
  • Women's Rights: Womens rights are largely absent in the public debate but are of rising concern. Although recently there has been a push to improve womens right a deeply patriarchal society means this is difficult.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs:
Alcohol and tobacco are freely available and consumed. Opium is smoked but recently it has been restricted. Other drugs are illegal
  • Factbook:
  • RP Preferences: Diplomatic
  • RP Samples: (If not available, ask for a prompt.)
  • RP Intentions: Largely worldbuilding with some roleplay as well

National information
Official Name: Union of Zorasani Irfanic Republics
Shortened Name: Zorasan/UZIR
Requested Location: (Please provide a map of your desired claims.)
Requested Population: 173,112,587
Culture: As a union of multiple states, the UBIR is multiethnic, however, the largest population is Persian, with a significant portion of Arab, but also Kurds, Turkics, Assryians, Yazidis, Pashtun and Dari.
  • Ethnicity: 51.11% Persian, 32.21% Arab, 10.02% Kurdish, 2.73% Yazidi, 1.60% Assyrian, 1.10% Turkic, 0.69% Pashtun, 0.54% of other ethnic groups*
*Note this is subject to heavy adjustment and change depending on neighbours, map placement etc etc.
  • Religion: Irfan, an Islamic analogue made for Esq, though this can be reverted to Salamic.
  • Languages: Pardarian (Farsi) and Arabic are official languages on a national level. No minority language is recognised.
Government Type: Federal non-partisan parliamentary republic
Civil-military regime (de facto)
Head of State: State President: Evren Volkan
Head of Government: First Minister Farzad Akbari
Requested GDP Per Capita: $7,455 nominal, $12,002.59 PPP
National Overview: Forged in the chaotic de-colonisation period, it owes its roots to centuries of prior Pardarian imperial domination, who in turn emerged out of the unification of the mountainous country by the first King, Ardashir I in 900 BC. Over time, the empires of Pardaran would ebb and flow across the Arab lands of Zorasan, until the emergence of the Solarian Empire, and Irfan (Salamism), in which the empires imploded from within. Resurgence in 900 AD brought with it the expansion and spread of Irfan (Salamism) across Zorasan, coming into regular conflict with the Coian polities to the south and the Euclean Christian states to the north. However, backwardness and political instability fundamentally weakened the Pardarian state, making it ineffectual toward encroaching Euclean colonial powers. By 1880, it had effectively been divided up between Etruria, Estmere and Gaullica, leaving a weak and destitute rump in the desert south. The 20th century brought with it the Great War and renewed Pardarian nationalism, as well as the thirst for freedom within the former lands dominated by Arabs. The devastation of the Great War gave way to independence and with it the revolutionary ideals of Mahrdad Ali Sattari, a Pardarian general and ideologue. Overthrowing the monarchy in 1953, he soon led the new Pardarian nation in spreading his ideals and revolution to neighbouring states, destroying Arab monarchies in a lightning war, bringing into the fold five states. Sattari would rule the new Union of Zorasani States through a single-party regime until his death in 1969, in which his successor, Ghassan Ali Ghaddar would lead the UBS in a war for the unification with Irvadistan, an arab state bordering Tsabara, with victory secured, Ghaddar celebrates only to be assassinated by an Atudite activist, his successor, Javad Jahandar institutes the “Great Reforms”, turning the UBS into the Union of Zorasani Irfanic Republics, alongside a revolutionary non-partisan parliamentary system, though one constructed to be inherently and perpetually weakened by strong, unaccountable and unelected military-clerical bodies. Despite this, numerous civil governments succeeded in utilising rapidly growing petrochemical revenues to fund diversification and industrialisation, granting the union cover for oil price drops. Development of infrastructure, education and healthcare helped propel the Union into the 21st century as a newly-industrialised economy and a potential future great power. However the 2010s saw renewed push back by the military, who used their constitutional powers to orchestrate the rise of Evren Volkan and Farzad Akbari to the offices of State President and First Minister respectively, who have launched repeated attacks on the previous fast growing civil society, civil liberties and freedoms, while turning a blind eye to increased military repression and its activities in general, restoring the overwhelming yet shadowy power of the armed forces and clerical establishments.

Social views:
  • General population's view on LGBT+ rights/LGBT+ people: The slow but steady evolution toward secularism in the late 2000s came about in stark contrast to the constitution and dominating position of the clerical establishment, while laws against the LGBT community were not repealed, their enforcement was significantly weakened. Since 2015 however, they have returned with abandon. As such, the LGBT community faces arbitrary arrest, exile or disappearance. However, in most cases the state would prefer the LGBT community to remain hidden as a private matter, though this is too is in danger by an emboldened clerical faction.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: If Irfan is to remain, then minority faiths are strictly repressed in multiple ways, this includes non-recognition by the federal government, arbitrary arrests of clerics, banning of scriptures and texts and mass surveillance of adherents. If Salamic, then repression would be light, to confining these faith groups to certain areas.
  • General population's view on atheism: Treated as a minority faith (see above).
  • General population's view on abortion: Abortion is illegal and religious abhored. Any medical professional who provides abortion services may face capital punishment for murder, while the mother can face life imprisonment. Since 2016, however, births as the result of incest or rape are recognised as exceptions.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): As a multiethnic “Zorasani” union, all ethnic groups are treated equally in that all are Zorasani. While individual ethno-cultural uniqueness is tolerated, the state since 1956 has actively championed the Zorasani identity over the individual identities of its people.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation: Negarans, Tsabarans and Eucleans.
  • View on immigration into country: Emigration out of the Union is widely considered a “threat of national survival” and the government since 2015 has made some progress in retaining professionals with enhanced state-offered benefits. Immigration from other Zorasani states is welcomed, due to the entrenched state-led belief that the Union is Zorasan’s utopia on earth.
  • Women's Rights: Despite being a deeply patriarchal society, the civil governments of the 1990s and early 2010s made strident efforts to improve women’s rights, this has been maintained by the government since 2015.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs:
Alcohol and tobacco are freely accessible, though alcohol has been constrained to some extent to combat a “binge culture” within the urban population. Opium is a used in isolated communities, though it is illegal alongside other drugs.

  • Factbook: (IIWiki preferred. Not required, but helpful if you have one already.)
  • RP Preferences: (What kind of RPs do you prefer? Military? Diplomatic? Character driven?)
  • RP Samples: (If not available, ask for a prompt.)
  • RP Intentions: (What do you plan on doing with this nation? Role-play? World-building? Both? Etc.)
  • Primary/Other NS Nations:
  • Any troubles with moderation? (If so, a link, please.):

National information
Official Name: Dasa Hadzāra Phūla Rādzya (दस हजार फूल राज्य); The Kingdom of Ten Thousand Flowers
Tsutsubra Tanmru (ཅུཅུབྲཱ ཏཱནམྲུ) Ten Thousand Gathered Flowers (Antaritan)
Uppaltumaneypoy (པཱུལཏྨའནེཔྱོི) The Country of the Countless Lotus
Shortened Name: Phula
Requested Location: Refounding an oldie so matching those borders would be nice, but so would even more land to fill any potential long-term whitespace gaps. We can talk through the specifics. The hot pink, per Discord discussion
Requested Population: 62,468,424 or so as per the old borders. Will adjust as appropriate for new.
Culture: The Phuli people are a strange mesh of cultures blended together over thousands of years. The predominant linguistic force through plurality is !Tocharian in origin, and through the adoption of a corrupted Hyndic tongue as a lingua franca, coined the term "Phuli", though in this corrupted tongue are historically known as Avanidhari. Two other groups, Antariti and Daksini, are themselves composed of several smaller Rygyalic cultures that together form a majority. Both the !Tocharian and Rygyalic cultures and layered atop earlier isolates which still persist in the more remote regions of the country, as well as the new Hyndic influences from the north and Xiaodongese influences from the South. The ultimate expression of Phuli identity are the Adhavitra people who exist only in the Pushkarma Valley, and are a creole population between the ancient Avanidhari clans and the Rygyalic Darshayitra people.
  • Ethnicity: The predominant ethnicity are the Avanidhara, who hold a sort of hegemony in being the single largest ethnic group even if not a majority. The Antariti and Daksini groups together are a powerful force in their own right and, arguably, have replaced many Hyndo-Euclean elements once present in the Avanidhara. The ultimate expression of unified Phuli identity rests in the Adhavitra, who although facing discrimination as "impure" in many parts of the country, best symbolize the symbiotic creolization that has dominated the region for millennia. It is sometimes difficult to precisely define one group against another these days apart from the region they're in and the language they speak, for much material culture and religious belief has spread across the entirety of the country between groups.
  • Religion: The dominant religion by far is Satyism, which holds an absolute majority between 60% and 80% of the population. The second largest religion is Jyoho, the often disorganized folk religions of the Rygyalic peoples in the south. Avanidhari folk religion persists in some places in small numbers, and is often said to be a variant of Bhagani faith. Xiaodongese influence in religion and philosophy is present, but is so omnipresent that it is difficult to consider it a distinct tradition from any of the others in Phula.
  • Languages: The official language is Phuli, the corrupted Hyndic tongue that holds an equally neutral appeal to all groups within the country, and is easy to pronounce across language families. As a plurality, the Avanidhari language holds particularly strong sway as a secondary national language, while the Adhavitra language spoken in the Pushkarma valley holds a special place in government particularly. Phuli is considered the lingua franca of the country, however, and acts as the unifying tongue which all must learn alongside their native languages.
Government Type: Semi-Constitutional Elective Theocratic Monarchy
    Head of State: Avani Adhikari
    Head of Government: Kujang Itcham
    Requested GDP Per Capita: ~$10,000?
National Overview: Born from the ancient kingdoms of the land, Phula has seen trials and tribulations aplenty. Developing complex means to solve their problems and survive against the odds, the Phuli people have become known for a certain industriousness in technology and the arts. The government is firmly Euclophilic, but also somewhat reactionary. The crushing of a decades-long insurrection in the mid-20th century has largely defined the government's stances, and led to the introduction of democratic institutions and popular representation. The economy has a significant base in the growth of certain goods, including cereal crops like rice and millet, and more specialized rubber and opium plantations, alongside an ever-growing tech sector that dominates urban life. Mining nuclear materials, copper, zinc, and gems provides an alternative to spice, food, and product farming for rural regions. Phula, through a mix of wind, solar, and nuclear power, is able to generate significant amounts of energy, and offers such to communities beyond its borders as well. This, broadly speaking, ties back into the Phuli tech sector.

Phula's history begins nearly 3000 years ago, when the first Hyndic migrations into the region began. It is uncertain how long Rygyalic peoples had inhabited the area, but by 700 BCE, three distinct kingdoms had formed. In a peak period of conflict, a prince from the northern Hyndic kingdom undertook pilgrimage across the land and developed a new philosophy called Satya or Satyism. Antarita, though initially resistant, eventually adopted this into their spiritual government and spread it in no small part by the sword to nearby regions. The warrior-monks of Antarita established such monasteries in recently conquered territory to help govern and defend, and it was from these monasteries that Satyism spread and developed into a distinct religion of its own. Following the collapse of the First Phuli Empire, a golden age of Satyist philosophy, science, and art began, this prosperity eventually helping to unite the land once more under the Second Phuli Empire and to expand well beyond its home valleys. As this was largely based in opportunistic expansionism, the consolidation of power in nearby empires eventually led to pushback and another collapse. The Middle Ages were spent largely fractured until the rebirth of empire in the 13th or 14th century, which is considered to be the origin of the modern Phuli state. Although borders have remained inconsistent, the state survived until nearly collapsing under insurrectionists following the Great War. Although the insurrection was defeated, reforms were passed in the government, offices were rearranged, and an acceptance of the necessity of modernity reinvented a traditionalist, conservative leadership into a more liberal and forward-thinking one. In the present day, the monarchy is argued by some to be obsolete and anachronistic, a bastion of old conservatism compared to the elected position held by Kujang. Despite this, the majority believe in the coexistence of the two offices, as the monarch plays a necessary role in Satyism, while conservative elements are satisfied with the appointment of a high-ranking monk as the head of government.

    Social views:
    • General population's view on LGBT+ rights/LGBT+ people: LGBT+ in Phula is generally treated respectfully due to Satyist influence on social views and a traditionally sexually liberated society. While sex in itself is considered an unnecessary pleasure, the Satya does not forbid such things, but instead states they are not the true means to happiness. Regardless of sexuality, however, men are expected to be the 'top' and women the 'bottom', which leads to inherent problems for about half of homosexuals. Transgender individuals are in an awkward position, and while Satyist authorities have ruled transitions valid upon the alteration of genitalia, traditional society regardless of religious affiliation instead considers them a "third gender" that also contains "cowards, cravens, and bootlickers", in essence an idea of "Half-men".
    • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Satyism is the state religion, and as such receives official support. However, Satyism is also strongly intertwined with Jyoho, the folk religious practices of the various Rygyalic peoples, and thus Jyoho is often tolerated or even considered a variant form of Satyism. Bhaga, the Hyndic folk religion, holds a more controversial place in the south, but is celebrated sometimes above Satya (which northerners claim is a sect of Bhaga) in the north. Sotirianism is a recent addition to the religious makeup of the country, but is more often frowned upon by society regardless of political alignment. Salam holds an awkward place and has no significant following, it is considered less foreign than Sotirianism but is frowned upon equally so.
    • General population's view on atheism: Atheism is not legally recognized by the government, and is shunned in traditional circles as 'dark' against the 'enlightened' Satya. Individuals who profess no religion are instructed to list a folk tradition or custom instead, the faith of their ancestors, and if the individual persists then they are listed as Satyist by default. This conflict has arisen due to the competing philosophies of what defines a faith, by Euclean and by local definitions, where the government tends to use local definitions that make distinguishing between traditions, religions, cultures, and customs a difficult mess. Particularly, Satyism believes that everyone is a Satyist whether or not they acknowledge it, as its truths apply to everyone in equal measure.
    • General population's view on abortion: Abortion is legal, and society has mixed opinions. Many say that the Satya's demand for ultimate happiness means that there is no obligation for birth, while others go further and say that ill omens mean an abortion should be recommended or pressured. Fears of malicious possession of the child, or of 'evil reincarnation' dominate in such circles. This, by extension, also means that those born with physical deformities are shunned or feared. Arguments against abortion largely come from Euclophiles and Sotirians, though not from the Euclophilic government which officially takes no moral stance but keeps them legal.
    • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Given how plural the Phuli people are in their origins, xenophobia is relatively low. Some old tensions with neighboring peoples remain, but favor to one side or another can divide northern and southern communities, and political parties are sometimes known by which foreign powers they favor rather than their stance along a political spectrum.
    • Any big prejudices in your nation: Those who are deformed in some way, particularly. Physical abnormalities are considered signs of a 'tainted soul'. Transphobia is present, albeit the phenomenon of transgenderism itself is widely recognized and the phobia stems from traditional views on such a thing.
    • View on immigration into country: Immigration is viewed somewhat positively as a sign of economic growth, and helps to feed the collective ego of the Phuli people. While some conservative elements warn about 'impious' people flooding 'holy land', this is not a standard position of the right wing of Phuli politics.
    • Women's Rights: Women are fairly liberated in Phula, and are in full control of their own destinies. A mixture of Satyism's preaching for a cognatic society, with help from actively enatic Rygyalic cultures, lead women to a strong position in wider society and culture. Despite this, women are still expected to be "submissive". While the queen is clearly recognized in her authority and her power to exercise thereof, she is expected to do so 'tenderly', to speak 'softly' unless in 'boundless passion', and to 'stay clean' in all things.
    • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Drugs are viewed positively as an 'enlightening' influence, or at least hallucinogens and tea are. Coffee holds an interesting position as a "cheap tea", while alcohol is a material vice that is not forbidden by Satya, but discouraged as "not leading to true happiness". Tobacco is considered a luxury of the middle class, and its use in popular culture is acknowledged as a sign of "showing off" and "insecurity". Opium holds a place in society as well, though only licensed opium dens with strict regulations are allowed to operate and it is otherwise cracked down upon heavily. Other 'hard' drugs like crack and meth are illegal and criminal.

    • Factbook: Got it saved in notepad
    • RP Preferences: Character tbh
    • RP Samples: sorry this is first time
    • RP Intentions: Both, hopefully
    • Primary/Other NS Nations: Consider the Yoconut
    • Any troubles with moderation? (If so, a link, please.): Ur Mum

National information
Official Name: Republic of Senria
Shortened Name: Senria
Requested Location: here you go
Requested Population: 131,375,810
Culture: The dominant ethnicity in Senria by a wide margin is Senrian, similar to IRL Japanese. Small Duljunese (Tungusic) populations exist, consisting primarily of refugees fleeing Xiaodong. The country formally had a decent Xiaodongese minority, but they were mostly deported as part of a population transfer in the mid-1900s. There's also a possibility for Ainu-esque minorities, though most would have been forcibly assimilated historically.
  • Ethnicity: Roughly 97% of the population is considered ethnically Senrian by the country's government, with the remaining 3% consisting of a mixture of Duljunese, Xiaodongese, and other minority populations.
  • Religion: The dominant religion in Senria is Tenkyou, animistic and polytheistic akin to IRL Shinto but worshiping a different set of deities and with a unique mythology. If Kylaris has a Buddhism-equivalent, that would also likely have a decent following; any Christianity-equivalents might also have small followings. The country's Duljunese and Xiaodongese minorities would practice their traditional religions.
  • Languages: The official language of the country is Senrian (Japanese with some phonetic and orthographic changes).
Government Type: Unitary dominant-party parliamentary republic
Head of State: Prime Minister Reika Okura
Head of Government: Prime Minister Reika Okura
Requested GDP Per Capita: $17,350 PPP; $11,328 nominal.
National Overview: Senria can supposedly trace its history back to 710 BCE, when the legendary figure Kousuu allegedly united the bulk of the Senrian archipelago and proclaimed himself the first of the Dragon Kings. No dragon kings can be firmly historically attested until the 300s CE, however, during what is traditionally referred to as the Surutou period, one of increasing centralization and a flourishing of science and the arts. This period also saw increasing contact between Senria and continental Coias, both in the forms of trade and war- the latter in the form of the first of four major wars between Senria and its neighbor Xiaodong. This first war was a victory for Senria, but a long decline in the central power of the dragon kings began in the 700s, and power defaulted back to local lords; a subsequent Xiaodongese invasion in 1104 saw Xiaodong briefly gain nominal control over part of the Senrian archipelago. The country remained wracked by internal conflict, power struggles, and a third war with Xiaodong for several decades, leading to a scientific stagnation that would last until the 1800s, when the Dragon King Keiou used modernized military equipment and tactics to reassert central authority and institute an absolute monarchy. His successors resisted further modernization, however, and the cession of some Senrian land to Xiaodong started a chain of escalations that eventually broke out into the Senrian Revolution, a concerted effort to depose the Senrian monarchy, in 1918. The war was protracted and deeply damaging to the country. Mismanagement of the war effort by the final dragon king ultimately turned his officer corps against him, and in 1926 he was deposed in a military coup.

Though the putschist generals nominally offered their service to the republican revolutionaries, who gave them equal authority in the interim government, tensions persisted between the two groups and the nascent government quickly became impotent. One of these generals, Katurou Imahara, opted to try and restore public faith in the government and boost his own stature by reclaiming the land conceded to Xiaodong decades earlier, but this provoked a Xiaodongese military response that would become the Senrian-Xiaodongese War the Coian theater of the Great War. Xiaodongese forces seized large portions of the country's east, conducting a policy of systematic extermination known as the Senrian Genocide, which killed roughly 4 million people. Imahara, given a sort of "Roman dictatorship" by the interim government, forced Senria upon a grueling process of breakneck industrialization and militarization in order to repel the Xiaodongese; this effort succeeded, and late in the war the tide turned, with Senria launching an invasion of Xiaodong proper. Peace was ultimately made at the urging of Senria's allies in the conflict, who had little desire to send their armies to die on the Xiaodongese front.

Imahara did not concede power after the war's end as promised, and reorganized Senria as a dominant party regime with the vague trappings of parliamentary democracy. Power remains largely held by the People's Party, founded by Imahara and his allies, and by a collection of business cliques known as keiretu, who control most sectors of the Senrian economy. Tensions with Xiaodong also remain an omnipresent feature of Senrian life, following abrogation of treaties and non-payment of reparations by Xiaodong, and decades of tit-for-tat terrorism between the two. The country's economy is largely industrial, but slowly moving more towards white collar industries.

Social views:
  • General population's view on LGBT+ rights/LGBT+ people: Apathetic or ambivalent, for the most part. Senria has no laws criminalizing homosexuality, but few if any legal protections exist for them, and the country's major political parties do not talk much about LGBT rights or protections. This lack of protections and traditional sentiments on family obligations deter LGBT people from coming out, though some prominent individuals have done so in recent years.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Mostly permissive. As a polytheistic faith, Tenkyou has traditionally been relatively accepting of integrating other deities, myths, and religious traditions into its practices. Monotheistic faiths are regarded as an oddity by most Senrians but tolerated nonetheless, though some individuals dislike proselytizers.
  • General population's view on atheism: Probably mildly negative, but there is no legal discrimination and probably not substantial societal discrimination.
  • General population's view on abortion: The Senrian government has put into place strict measures against abortion and encourages women to have children, in large part due to the population disparity between Senria and Xiaodong.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): No overt racism or systematic discrimination, but definitely a certain mild xenophobia for most foreign groups. Some groups receive more favorable perception than others.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation: The Senrians hate ethnic Xiaodongese, and the feeling is mutual. Minority groups in Xiaodong get more sympathy, as most Senrians regard them as fellow victims of Xiao cruelty, but animosity or hostility towards ethnic Xiaodongese is rampant.
  • View on immigration into country: Generally opposed, with the general attitude being "stay where you are, this is our country". Senria has relatively restrictive immigration laws, and is willing to make exceptions mostly for asylees or dissidents fleeing Xiaodong to use as political props.
  • Women's Rights: Not terrible, actually. The sheer scale of the Senrian-Xiaodongese War, in which much of the male population was sent off to the frontlines, forced the country to integrate women into the workforce. As a result, in the economic sphere, women are actually relatively well-off. This sometimes clashes with socially conservative expectations regarding child-rearing, however. Women have also made gains in the political sphere, with Senria electing its first female Prime Minister in December 2018.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Use of tobacco and alcohol is more or less omnipresent in Senria. Drugs such as marijuana, cocaine, heroin, etc. are criminalized.

National information
Official Name: Republic of Nagrastan (Republik Negara | Repoblikan'i Negara | Jamhuri ya Negara)
Shortened Name: Nagrastan | Negara
Requested Location: Location of Negara on the map.
Requested Population: 585,420,000
Culture: Negara is a diverse nation, with no ethnic or linguistic group comprising a majority within the nation. There is an emphasis and focus on ethnic pluralism, with a number of checks and balances to ensure ethnic representation, while still existing a national identity that transcends race and ethnicity.
  • Ethnicity: No ethnic group in Negara comprises a majority of the population. Depending on the census, either the Haren (Malays) or Fiteny (Malagasy) comprise a plurality, at roughly 30% of the population each. Bahian groups comprise roughly 28% of the population, with Kibasid (Swahili) comprising the highest percentage at 15%. Meanwhile, 12% belong to other groups, such as Duljunese, who comprise 2% of the total population.
      30% Haren (Malay)
      30% Fiteny (Malagasy)
      15% Kibasid (Swahili)
      6% Xulan (Zulu)
      6% Hesian (Javanese)
      3% Banta (Xhosa)
      2% Anthan (Chewa)
      2% Mando (Congolese)
      2% Duljunese
      4% other
  • Religion: Traditional folk religions are widespread, and the local Jalan faith is widely influential across the population. There are also significant minorities which practice Sotirianity and Irfan. Despite this, politics is largely secular, with guarantees for freedom of religion and worship. This, combined with the Revolution, has led to some unique religious organisations appearing including the Cult of Logic and the Gospel of Ezekiel.
  • Languages: Negara maintains three “national languages”; Haren (Malay), Fiteny (Malagasy) and Kibasid (Swahili), which are also the most widely-spoken languages in the country. Learning one of these national languages is mandatory in all state schools; though they are often taught as supplementary languages alongside recognised regional languages which include Xulan (Zulu), Hesian (Javanese), Banta (Xhosa), Anthan (Chewa), Mando (Congolese) and Duljunese. Gaullican and Estmerish are also widely spoken as medium languages of business and politics. Previously, within the system of government, there existed a complex system wherein a number of translators worked to ensure coherence in the multi-language body. With the advent of machine translators, however, the Republic has ensured a multi-language legislature for future generations thanks to a great deal of of investment.

Government Type: Federal directorial dominant-party republic
Head of State: National Directory
  • First Director Putera Peramah
  • Director Tiana Nirina
  • Director Subira Hasira
Head of Government: National Directory
  • First Director Putera Peramah
  • Director Tiana Nirina
  • Director Subira Hasira
Requested GDP Per Capita: $8,927
National Overview: Negara is the bastion of Jacobin democracy and radical republicanism; the bulwark against Xiaodongese tyranny in Coius (and so the story goes). Since the 1895 revolution, Negara has been what can only be described as a radical democratic and revolutionary state. Ardent in opposition to monarchism and ‘false republicanism’, Nagrastan has been at the forefront of the Coian democratic geopolitical bloc. A strong alliance with Senria is utilised to contain the ‘Great Enemy’ of Xiaodong. Ethnic pluralism, secularism and democracy are core tenets of Negaran ideology; and this spreads throughout both Negaran government and society.

The Republic is led by the National Directory - a three member body which acts as head of state and government - and the National Convention, the nation’s legislature. Government is dominated by the Popular Liberation Front; a political coalition comprising the two main parties and a great deal of minor ones. These two largest parties are the Negaran Socialist League, a socialist party which places emphasis on economic transformation, and the Negaran Republican Brotherhood, a nationalist party which places emphasis on nation building and expanding Negara’s geopolitical sphere. These two parties, while nominally coalition allies, are consistently in conflict. The official opposition is headed by traditionalists.

Nagrastan can trace back a history back to ancient times, with a number of Haren and Kibasid realms existing in a state of conflict and flux. The Fiteny migration led to the establishment of Dynastic Nagrastan, which became an influential power in South Coian affairs. During the colonial period, the Nineteenth Dynasty would grow weak following a devastating war with Xiaodong, and consistently be forced to hand out colonial concessions. Eventually, this culminated in the Gaullican Empire coming into full possession of the realm, operating it as a colony in conjunction with a number of princely states.

This state of affairs would ultimately lead to the 1911 Blackblood Revolution, which would establish the modern state of Negara in the southern reaches of the country. Attempts to fully expel the Gaullicans would prove unsuccessful; but the revolution was granted a saving grace when a joint Estmerish-Weranic declaration recognised the fledgling country, forcing Gaullica to end hostilities and indirectly fueling functionalist sentiment in Verlois. The Republic of Negara, meanwhile, experienced an enormous military build-up, alongside widespread literacy programs, the adoption of modern institutions and a general modernisation. In 1926, Negara would demand the colonial powers leave their possessions on Negaran soil; this led to the Great War, in which Negara would reunify and emerge as one of Kylaris’ great powers. The post-war era saw Negara compete with Xiaodong, forming the Fruitful Alliance with Senria as a check to Xiaodongese ambition.

Social views:
  • General population’s view on LGBT+ rights/LGBT+ people: Homosexuality was only criminalised under the Gaullican colonial administration; a decision which was reversed by the 1911 Consitution, which decriminalised homosexuality. A controversial slew of bills legalised same-sex marriage, gender reassignment and same-sex adoption in the early 2000s. The population at large is torn on the LGBT+ issue. There are genuine supporters, genuine opponents and at large a great swath of undecideds.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Generally ambivalent to positive. Society is secular, and there is a great deal of religious tolerance. There is some deal of suspicion surrounding Sotirians, particularly Catholics, due to their perceived connection to Gaullica and the colonial history.
  • General population's view on atheism: Generally accepted; again, society is particularly secular. The Cult of Logic would like for the state to take up the mantle of state atheism; this has earned them the ire of the ‘other’ faiths.
  • General population's view on abortion: The right to abortion is enshrined in the 1911 Constitution. Despite efforts to force it’s repeal - and a particularly close attempt in the 70s - this remains the case. The population’s opinion tends to shift based on recent scandals and folk tales; if there is a tale of a baby aborted in birth, support for abortion will drop, etc.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Thanks in large part to the efforts of the government to spread ideals of ethnic pluralism, there exists a general sense of racial tolerance. That being said, the various Bahian ethnicities have been known to come into conflict with one another, largely over perceived historical slights.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation: Xiaodong. The Great Enemy is viewed with suspicion, and it’s people even more so. It is uncommon for anything of Xiaodongese origin to gain any sense of prevalence, and the country is often used for political point scoring.
  • View on immigration into country: Generally mixed, as the two kinds of migrants - refugees from more oppressive regimes, and foreign Eucleans seeking to make a quick buck - are both distrusted to a degree. The government, for it’s part, does take effort to take care of any refugee populations that appear.
  • Women's Rights: The rights of women are enshrined in the 1911 Constitution. Women’s rights have seen a dramatic upsurge thanks to the efforts of the revolutionary administration. “National Campaigns” against domestic abuse, gender discrimination in the workplace, and barriers to women in politics have been praised by foreign observers.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Most drugs were decriminalised in the 1911 Constitution, but the legacy of a 1980s “War on Drugs” persists. Tobacco, alcohol and other drugs are all technically illegal, and the possession of them is a criminal offence. This law is regularly flaunted, however, even by government enforcers.

National information
Official Name: Federal Republic of Sabatosa
Shortened Name: Sabatosa
Requested Location: To save time, the large grey area west of Marirana/Southwest of Asterian Fed.
Requested Population: 51,398,750
Culture: Although the most common culture in Sabatosa is an Estmerish-descended subculture, like Asteria's, historical migration etc. have caused widespread Etrurian, Gaullican, and Bahian-Sabatosan cultural movements. In some areas, these other cultures are prominent, but as a whole the nation is considered an !Anglo related culture.
  • Ethnicity: Estmerish Whites: 61%
    Etrurian-Sabatosan: 18%
    Black Bahian-Sabatosan: 10%
    Gaullican Sabatosan: 7%
    Other: 4%
  • Religion: Sotiranity is the main religion. Sotiranity in general is the sole official religion nationally and in 8 states. Amendism and Solarianism are recognized as denominations nationally and by 8 states, and are the two official religions of 9 states.
  • Languages: The only nationally official language is Estmerish. It is the most commonly used and is also the only official language in all 17 states. Certian Euclean and even Bahian languages are sometimes used in communities, but none are recognized.
Government Type: A multi-party federal presidential republic.
Head of State: President Curtis Pasque
Head of Government: N/A
Requested GDP Per Capita:: 22,314
National Overview: Sabatosa was discovered in the 1500s by Gaullicans. Although natives initially prevented colonialism, systematic invasions and purges by a more organized Euclean force began in the 1560s and 70s. Multiple settlements and swaths of land had been claimed by 1600; Gaullica, Estmere, Werania, Etruria, Florena and Glytter all controlled some territory. However many settlements were attacked by natives. Despite over 50,000 natives being killed since 1565, the problem was still serious by 1620. The steadily expanding Estmerish colonies put in more military effort to quell natives, and they maintained their footholds, unlike Glytter, Werania, and later Florena. During the Peramonic Wars(?) Florena used it's Sabatosa colony to fight it's enemies there but failed and the port and surrounding region were taken over by Estmere. By 1750, almost all of present-day Sabatosa was mapped out, with it all being controlled by either Estmere, Gaullica or Etruria. Shortly after the Asterian revolution in the 1760s/1770s, a small revolutionary sentiment began. Various risings came and went until the Etrurian Revolution, when its colonies broke free and declared the Republic of New Torazza. New Torazza struggled in its infancy but inspired a revolution against the Estmerish in 1801. It was bloody but successful and the Republic of Sabatosa was formed. It warred with Gaullica for her colonies between 1804 and 1806, taking most of them by 1807. A small port region and surrounding river valley broke free from Gaullica by its own accord in 1805, and the D'Aisne Republic emerged. The three revolutionary states attempted to enjoy good diplomatic relations with eachother but upon a coup in New Torazza in 1811 they broke down and war began. I'll sum up the history 1815-2019 later; there's little information available so I'll stick with this WIP

Social views:
  • General population's view on LGBT+ rights/LGBT+ people: Public opinion differs depending on where you are; 10 states legalize same-sex marriage, but 2 flat-out ban LGBT+ anything altogether. These laws are controversial but firmly upheld by their conservative state governments.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: No major prejudice against non-Sotirans. However there is some tension between Amendists and Solarians.
  • General population's view on atheism: Many people are atheists, and there are no laws against it.
  • General population's view on abortion: Abortion is legal in 9 states. Abortion for incest and rape only is legal in 5. Abortion is completely banned in 4 states. The population have mixed views; the topic is a currently disputed matter around Sabatosa.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Due to the diverse racial and ethnic groups in Sabatosa, there is a lot of racism at the community level. Most of it is Eucleoids directed against Bahian-Sabatosans. 1 state has laws against racism, but there are no other laws actually involving it.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation: Not really
  • View on immigration into country: It was positive and relaxed throughout most of the 20th century, but with the rise to power of the Federacy Party since the late 90s, immigration has been highly restricted and the population have mainly turned against it.
  • Women's Rights: There is a large feminist movement in Sabatosa, even though women don't actually have any less rights than men.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs:Tobacco and alcohol are legal. Pot is completely legal in two states, legal for medicinal use only in 3 others. Drugs like molly, cocaine, heroin, crack and numerous others are illegal.

  • Factbook: Will likely make an iiwiki page if I'm accepted
  • RP Preferences: I like diplomatic, sometimes military. I also like worldbuilding.
  • RP Samples: Will edit one in here soon. Need to find it.
  • RP Intentions: A bit of both. Wolrdbuilding, then roleplay.
  • Primary/Other NS Nations: Gwane is my primary.
  • Any troubles with moderation? (If so, a link, please.): No.
  • Anything else?:

Official Name: Aimilian Republic
Shortened Name: Aimilia
Requested Location: apud cartam
Requested Population: 6.7 mil
Culture: Generally not far from mainstream Euclea; relatively cold culture, patriarchal tradition, influenced by Sotirianity, some wacky traditional foods and dresses; in terms of uniqueness, perhaps a little more risk averse than most, stereotypically pessimistic, some of these characteristics encouraging irreligiosity, but broadly unremarkable; influenced by Solaria, prehistoric nonsense, Slav migrations, dictatorship period and so on
  • Ethnicity: Historically a little complex with tribal nonsense and Weranics and Solarians, but in the present day awareness is greatly declined and most people just think of themselves as Aimilian (and there's not much of a genetic difference anyway); in physical appearance and genetics, think West Slavic (Czechia, Poland, etc.)
  • Religion: Religious belief is mostly only weakly held; many are irreligious. Historically Sotirian Catholic, nominally today in descending order by population proportion, Sotirian Catholic, irreligious, various Amendist, then others
  • Languages: Aimilian (dominant and most widely used, however some smaller less relevant minorities with unofficial status such as Gaullican mainly)
Government Type: Liberal eastern democracy
Head of State: President Kabentim Teguzboded
Head of Government: Chancellor Manham Batsatindim
Requested GDP Per Capita: ~15k ppp
National Overview: Government - proportional representation with largest remainder with multimember constituencies, unicameral, parliamentary, universal suffrage, fairly liberal, capitalist, strong judiciary, strong constitution, multiparty

Economy - not very strong, high chronic unemployment, confidence issues in government or other institutions cause underdevelopment, some extreme poverty, declining primary sector, struggling secondary sector, expanding tertiary sector (tourism kind of but also McJobs type thing), overall medium levels of development, broadly capitalist

History - weird mysterious tribal people survive Hyndo-Euclean deluge; are conquered and integrated by Solarian empire and gain coherence within it; when it collapses, relatively unique structures of governance and native language survive; partitioned, bartered, conquered and pushed around throughout medieval era with cultural area decreasing; eventually finds itself playground to Swetania and Gaullica; is mostly owned by Gaullica pre-Great War, is given independence as MSU puppet dictatorship afterwards; breaks out of dictatorship in the 70s, has since been an impoverished stumbling liberal Eastern democracy

Geography - largely flat bar some hills along the west; the whole country is a kind of gentle slope towards the lakes, and significant rivers flow towards them; the capital, Bai Kakzaznate is along a smaller southwards-flowing in the centre of the country; the primary administrative divisions are Provinces, developed from the historical Judicatures, in this image clockwise from the top Mantandik, Bezuntam, Damdamzandis, Kakobidga, with the capital being the red, each over a million populous with the capital most so; temperature, largely fairly fertile agricultural plains; few mineral resources, though there are some unusual semi-precious rocks, notably lapis lazuli in antiquity

Social views:
  • General population's view on LGBT+ rights/LGBT+ people: significant prejudices exist, but increasing acceptance; ssm is not legalised yet, but it's not implausible that it'll come in a few years, for example
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: high levels of irreligiosity, people don't care
  • General population's view on atheism: see above
  • General population's view on abortion: most people don't terribly mind, but there are small vocal groups against; it's legal
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): as above; racism isn't blatant and hostile, but it certainly exists
  • Any big prejudices in your nation: not really besides the mentioned
  • View on immigration into country: practically a non-issue because who would come here lol but all the same there are a few xenophobe groups
  • Women's Rights: legally equal, most people don't have too much enthusiasm for social reform
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: viewed as a little distasteful but usage is normal; cannabis decriminalised, alcohol regulated, other drugs illegal

  • Factbook: will iiwiki
  • RP Preferences: what is rp
  • RP Samples: ditto
  • RP Intentions: same old
  • Primary/Other NS Nations: yes
  • Any troubles with moderation? (If so, a link, please.): no
  • Anything else?: no

National information
Official Name: The Kingdom of Wazovia
Shortened Name: Wazovia
Requested Location: unlabeled green in the middle
Requested Population: 41 million
Culture: The dominant culture is Wazovian (NotPolish), concentrated in the northern two thirds of the country. Wazovians are overwhelmingly Catholic, while the largest minority, the Jostovans (NotCzechs), are Amendists, which has been the cause of much ethnic grief. The smaller minority, the Gaulluscy Wazovcy, are Gaullican-speaking Catholics who have been ruled at various times by either Gaullica or Wazovia. Despite the language barrier, they are well-integrated and well-treated.
  • Ethnicity: 76% Wazovian, 21% Jostovan, 3% Gaullican
  • Religion: 67% Catholic, 18% Amendist, 15% Agnostic/Irreligious/Atheist
  • Languages: Wazovian is the official national language, the knowledge of which is a requirement for citizenship. Gaullican is a recognized regional language; Jostovan has the same status, but efforts to make it a joint national language have been consistently rebuffed.
    Government Type: Constitutional Monarchy
Head of State: His Majesty King Louis-Joseph II Tokarczuk
Head of Government: Prime Minister Fryderyk Skarbek
    Requested GDP Per Capita: $15,500
National Overview: After the (Slavic? NotSlavic?) migrations that occurred across much of Euclea in the wake of the Solarian Empire's fall, the area that is now Wazovia began to coalesce into dozens of small principalities headed by different Wazovian clans. Sotirian missionaries from Gaullica began to proselytize their faith beginning in the 10th century and met with great success. One of the first dynasties to adopt Catholicism, the Lewkowiczs, began to grow and consolidate their power beginning with the ascension of Casimir the Converted in 998. By the mid-12th century, the House of Lewkowicz had unified the Wazovians and several Jostovan polities under a large, but loose kingdom. For a time, Wazovia was the premier power of medieval Central Euclea, although after the 1350s it went into decline, and parts of it were peeled away by the Marolevians. The military aristocracy, always powerful, completely usurped the levers of power from the monarchs. Wazovia became a confederation governed by the Sejm, or assembly of nobles.

As the Reformation swept Euclea, the Amendist message was taken up eagerly by the Jostovans, who had never been treated well by the Wazovian majority, and had always resented the Catholic Church as a result. These religious changes shook the Confederation to its core, sparking the Wars of Religion, which swept Wazovia from 1580-1602. The Catholic-Amendist split was used to justify ethnic atrocities and continuous war, which may have killed as many as a million people. The country took the better part of the 1600s to recover demographically, and was almost always dominated by foreign powers during this period. However, Wazovia's civil wars instilled a strong martial tradition in its people, which would end serving future generations well. Wazovian cavalry, specifically Hussars, became coveted mercenaries throughout the early modern period, and were regarded as some of the best horsemen in Euclea.

Beginning in the 1750s, the cycle of wars between Euclea's great powers and the martial accomplishments of the warlord [insert warlord] allowed the Wazovians to get out from under foreign domination and reunite their country, this time under an absolute monarchy as [warlord] bent the aristocracy to his will. Wazovia entered an era of relative prosperity and population growth, making it into a regional power that others had to reckon with all the way through the 19th century.

A second period of decline and political infighting beginning with a brutal recession in 1902 caused the ideology of Fascism to grow considerably among the public, helped along by its export from Gaullica. In 1923, Duclerque's government helped to engineer a coup against the monarchy with the support of the Wazovian military. The House of Tokarczuk fled into exile in Marolevia, and Wazovia joined the Gaullican sphere under dictator [insert name]. Although the Wazovian armies acquitted themselves well, the Entente eventually lost the war, and the Grand Alliance occupied the country. The Marolevians took the lead in the occupation, and split off the heavily Jostovan northwest to form a puppet state of their own, the Worker's Federation of Jostova. The more democratic-leaning allies occupied the rest of the country, ensuring that it would not fall into the socialist sphere.

Royalist officer [insert name] established an emergency dictatorship, with allied support, that invited the monarchy back to the country in 1936. King Charles-Henryk was restored to the throne that had been taken from him thirteen years prior. The Tokarczuks, eager to ingratiate themselves with the Allies, adopted a new constitutional order the very same year, abolishing the absolutism of the past. Wazovia opened up to trade with the East and received an enormous amount of foreign investment that allowed it to rebuild, and then, surge forward into the modern age.

Wazovia and the Worker's Federation reunited as a single country in 1977, following the collapse of the socialist bloc. Although reunification was at first the cause of great euphoria, the old grievances of the two ethnic groups shortly reemerged. Some of the more nationalist Jostovans started a brief insurgency against unification, which was put down. Wazovia's current 1982 constitution dates from the aftermath, and from various attempts by the king and parliament to get the new nation to work.

Today, Wazovia is pursuing membership in the EC, a policy it has held since 2007, and receives high marks for human development and democracy, although its (for the most part) devoutly Catholic majority has taken a dim view of LGBT rights and any immigration from Bahia or Badawiya, stances which have caused a degree of controversy with more liberal members of the EC. Resurgent Jostovan nationalism is also a growing problem in the north of the country, and many observers wonder if violence will soon break out.

    Social views:
    • General population's view on LGBT+ rights/LGBT+ people: Homosexuality has been decriminalized since the 1960s, but repeated efforts by socially liberal parties to legalize gay marriage have failed. Adoption rights are also nonexistent. The Catholic Church, which wields immense power in Wazovia, seems unlikely to budge on this issue anytime soon.
    • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Generally suspicious. Catholic Wazovians have a long history of conflict with Amendist Jostovans, not to mention a widespread disdain of Salam and any other separate religion.
    • General population's view on atheism: Freedom of conscience is enshrined in the constitution, but anti-discrimination laws are not as wide-reaching as in EC countries. Conservative Wazovians regard atheism with a degree of suspicion.
    • General population's view on abortion: Deeply divided. The more cosmopolitan populations of [capital] and [big city] tend to support it, while the rural provinces are vehemently against it. A constantly debated issue. The current legal status is that all abortion is illegal except in cases where the mother's life might be at risk.
    • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Given that there is a degree of mistrust between more nationalist Wazovians and Jostovans (who look much the same), the population is not always comfortable with those of other races. Depictions of Wazovians as unrepentant racists are not totally unjustified, but many racial attitudes derive from a lack of interaction rather than sustained prejudice.
    • Any big prejudices in your nation: Wazovians and Jostovans get along in some communities, while they don't in others. Generally, the trend in the last twenty years has been that relations are growing worse. What few Bahians or Badawiyans live in Wazovia tend to be looked down upon.
    • View on immigration into country: Wazovians were once more open to immigration during the earlier post-war era, but a sense of resurgent nationalism has dampened this attitude since the dawn of the 21st century. Visa and citizenship requirements have been tightened in recent years.
    • Women's Rights: Women have had the vote in Wazovia since 1908, and the country has a pretty strong track record of preventing discrimination based on gender, at least. Wazovia receives relatively high marks for women's rights.
    • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs:
Ultra-catholic groups tend to be opposed to any sort of legalization, but Wazovia has actually had fairly libertine drug laws since the 1980s. Alcohol, tobacco and pot are legalized and widely available. Distribution of harder drugs is forbidden, but possession of them is more or less decriminalized.

    • Factbook: Soon
    • RP Preferences: Anything that permits worldbuilding, frankly. Character-driven RPs are my favorite, but I'm down for anything.
    • RP Samples:
    • RP Intentions: Again, whatever helps with worldbuilding. I'm going to work on Wazovia a lot more initially, but after that I'm open to any project that helps flesh out the world.
    • Primary/Other NS Nations:
    • Any troubles with moderation? (If so, a link, please.):

Can expand on social stances but essentially done

National information
Official Name: Panswetanian Workers' State
Shortened Name: Swetania
Requested Location: South of Werania where Vredlandia used to be, I sure do hope the mapmaker will understand
Requested Population: 52,853,207
Culture: Swetania is a fundamentally multiethnic country, and historically it wouldn't have made sense to talk of a single Swetanian culture, with the various cultures ranging from the plurality of Weranians in the east, the Baltic-populated regions to the west, and the Trevelians lands in the south, combined with the numerous shared minorities on the borders. Nonetheless, ever since the revolution in 1922, major and overall succesful efforts have been made to promote a shared "overculture" rooted in its socialist and revolutionary ideals of egalitarianism and progressivism, while still allowing room for the disparate cultures to thrive through the implementation of the national personal autonomy principle.
  • Ethnicity: The Swetanian state's various incarnations have all historically been dominated by their plurality of Weranians, with !Latvians and Trevelians being the two other major groups. Other notable minorities, in no particular order, include the Ruttish, Aldmen, the Swathish, the Hennish, the Hoeltish, Kesselbourgers, Gaullicans, the Faroese, Aimilians, Vaikanens, Minervans, Tuulens, and Savaders.
  • Religion: The religious situation has been historically diverse ever since the Reformation, with Amendists, !Calvinists but most importantly a Catholic ascendancy. Nowadays, the country has one of if not the highest rate of irreligion in the world, in no small part due to the revolutionary policies targeted at replacing the role of religion in society.
  • Languages: Standard Weranian is officially designated as the working language of the Workers' State and is certainly the lingua franca of the country, but all languages of the minorities listed above have an official status not only in the areas where they are spoken but at the federal level.
Government Type: Federal parliamentary socialist congressional republic
Head of State: Presidium of the General Congress of the Panswetanian Workers' State
Head of Government: Presidium of the General Congress of the Panswetanian Workers' State
Requested GDP Per Capita: $40,529 nominal, $48,872 PPP
National Overview: Ever since its short and urban-centred 1922 Revolution in the aftermath of the Estmerish-Swetanian war casted away the shackles of monarchist rule, Swetania has been a radical and revolutionary socialist state, the second of its kind after the Marolevic Syndicalist Union and the only still existing today - thriving even - after since the chaotic collapse of the former. Through its survival in the trial by fire that the ethnic tensions and ideological uprisings brought by the Great War were, it would claim for itself a place as the co-leader of the post-war socialist world - but with diverging interests and visions, relations with Marolevia would soon deteroriate and enforce a competitve pluricentrism in the socialist world.

Swetania officially considers itself a "socialist congressional republic", in which councils of lower-level subdivsions send delegates to councils of higher-level subdivisions, the process repeating until reaching the General Congress, the country's legislature. The General Congress is completed by its elected Presidium of twelve General Commissars, each one of them not only heading a ministry of the Swetanian government, but also serving as the collective head of state and of government of the country, with the symbolic position of President of the Presidium rotating among its members on a yearly basis. Assisting them in their job of running the federal government is the General Secretariat, whose head the General Secretary is often referred to as the thirteenth concillor.

Swetania operates a mostly market socialist economy, characterised by workers' self-management, strong influence of unions, and a degree of economic planning where reasonably feasible with the help of a cybernetics information network.

Social views:
  • General population's view on LGBT+ rights/LGBT+ people: Excellent, probably a pioneer in a lot of things through its fight against traditions and associated authorities.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Tolerant, if not sometimes suspicion - particularly against the Sotirian faiths formerly dominant in the country.
  • General population's view on atheism: Excellent, considering its status as the primary religious belief or lack thereof of the country.
  • General population's view on abortion: Excellent, legalised after the revolution and essentially a non-question ever since
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Good, an historically multi-ethnic and pluralistic country
  • Any big prejudices in your nation: The three arrows of its beloved flag stand for anti-reactionaryism, anti-capitalism, and anti-functionalism, so it should not be a surprise those three (particularly the first and last ones) often fall outside the range of acceptable discourse
  • View on immigration into country: Welcoming from an ideological standpoint
  • Women's rights: Excellent, probably also pionneer with the revolution and everything
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Liberal policy but regulated with campaigns against use

  • Factbook: Of course will do
  • RP Preferences: Character and diplomatic
  • RP Samples: As always you know me but ask if you really want
  • RP Intentions: Worldbuilding and roleplay if the opportunity arises
  • Primary/Other NS Nations: Dosceriche in Aeia
  • Any troubles with moderation? (If so, a link, please.): Nothing major enough to still have a link to send you too
  • Anything else?: Link to ethnic groups only there for indicative purposes.

National information
Official Name: Kansastoen Tasavalta/Republic of Kansasto
Shortened Name: Kansasto
Requested Location:

Requested Population: 18,000,000
Culture: Kansen is the dominant culture, numbering just over half of the populace, and can be found across the country although primarily in a band across the center with substantial pockets elsewhere in the country. The Vaikanen number just over a fifth of the country's populace and primarily live along the northern coast and the eastern border regions, with some communities further inland. The Tuulen number barely a quarter of the country's populace and mainly live in the south and west of the nation, scattered among communities of Vaikanen.
Government Type: Unitary Unicameral Presidential Parliamentary Republic
Head of State: President Akseli Karppinen
Head of Government: President Akseli Karppinen
Requested GDP Per Capita: $37,371 (based on IRL Czech Republic)
National Overview: Kansasto is a young country, but an old idea. The Kansen and Vaikan are both pre-Marolevic peoples native to northern Euclea, and have lived there since time immemorial. The arrival of the Tuulen in the fall of the Solarian Empire was relatively unremarkable to the native tribal societies, and they existed relatively peacefully. Missionaries arrived in the south in the 10th century, and found willing converts among the clusters of numerous small statelets then covering Kansasto.

Unlike elsewhere in Euclea, the Kansen statelets never unified into a single organised entity, instead these statelets gradually being annexed by larger neighboring powers or becoming tributary states, but the power of the kingdoms that the vassals in the Kansen nominally owed their fealty waxed and waned depending on the lieges and the vassals, with some few remaining independent.

This would continue to be the case until the Empire of All-Marolevs, with many of the Kansen statelets fighting against the new Empire in the War of the Commonwealth, ultimately losing. Kansasto would remain under the Empire of All-Marolevs until its fall in *insert year* when the Kansen and Vaikan middle classes rose up, declaring the Confederation of the Lands of the Kansen, Tuulen and Vaikan. This originally confederal monarchical state, out of fear of their leftist neighbours and at the growing Pan-Marolevism among the Tuulen people, would ally with Gaullica in the Great War, and after its defeat would be annexed into the MSU as a province ruled primarily by the Tuulen, a low intensity insurgency lasting for a decade or so after the annexation.

This state of affairs would end in 1974 with the collapse of the MSU and the declaration of the Provisional Government of National Defence by Kansen and Vaikan elements, which succeeded in expelling MSU forces within the country and then repelling an Imperial invasion in 1974-1975. The Provisional Government would remain in power until 1981, when power was transferred to a democratic regime with the Permanent Constitution of 1981. After a few years of stabilisation and reformation, the Republic of Kansasto applied to join the EC, seeking the economic benefits provided. The Tuulen, preferring an alignment with the Empire of All-Marolevs, heavily protested, but were simply ignored by the government.

The Tuulen have grown more and more dissatisfied over time, and terror attacks although infrequent have been known to happen. The government watches the rising level of violence warily, eyes pointed accusingly westwards.

Social views:
  • General population's view on LGBT+ rights/LGBT+ people: Homosexuality is legal, and gay marriage is legal, if extremely rare as marriage may only be performed by a church and the [Majority Denomination TBD] Church of Kansasto.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Fine, as long as the religion bears some semblance to :notChristianity:. Other foreign religions are regarded as mere superstition.
  • General population's view on atheism: Legal, but regarded with suspicion owing to the legacies of the MSU.
  • General population's view on abortion: Legal only in the case of rape or medical emergency. Paid for by the state in all legal cases, with access in these cases being enshrined in the Ninth Article of the Permanent Constitution of 1981.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): The Vaikan are viewed as brothers by the Kansen, with any racial differences being nearly non-existent while both groups largely revile the Tuulen as an enemy, with prejudice against them being widespread. Officially, discrimination based on ethnicity is illegal under the Third Article of the Permanent Constitution of 1981, but in reality there's a heavy institutional weight against the Tuulen in addition to widespread mistrust and prejudice.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation: Tuulen. Marolevs. Any form of far-leftism. Anything that resembles or reminds the Kansen or the Valkan of the old days under the MSU, with the older generations having largely passed their own prejudices down.
  • View on immigration into country: Highly suspicious of Marolevs of any kind, while those from other, more developed EC countries are largely welcomed with open arms.
  • Women's Rights: Enshrined in the Ninth Article of the Permanent Constitution of 1981 to be equal with those of men in all cases, and has been held to account in the Supreme Court of the Constitution repeatedly.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Smoking and alcohol are legal and available with fairly low but strictly enforced age limits, Harder drugs are illegal and both possession and distribution are illegal.

  • Factbook: Not yet.
  • RP Preferences: Basically anything.
  • RP Samples: Pfffft.
  • RP Intentions:
  • Primary/Other NS Nations:
  • Any troubles with moderation? (If so, a link, please.):

Let's clear something up here for the children. I am an adult, with an adult life. I have a job, which aside from being time consuming while I am actually -at- work, requires me to be on call when I am not. I do not have the time to sit and read through the thousands of pages of shit that some people post in the chat. I simply do not have the time. When I am not on call or at work I am also a Scout Leader, a volunteer youth worker, a community association secretary, and chair of a local role play association.

So you should feel really fucking lucky that I am prepared to slice out even minutes of my day to offer to deal with your problems. If you don't like the fact that I am sacrificing my free time for you then I think the problem here is with you and not the region.

Postby Nuvania » Sat Jun 22, 2019 10:20 pm

National information
Official Name: Nuvanian Free State (Nuwanse Vrystaat)
Shortened Name: Nuvania (Nuwanië)
Requested Location: Map Goes Here
Requested Population: 47,448,333 (Census)
Culture: Nuvania is predominantly descended from refugees from Hennehouwe who fled the annexation of the country by Gaullica in the 1740's, and it is from these settlers and the subsequent waves of migrants from Euclea. It speaks the Nuvnian (Afrikaans) language, descended from the Hennish spoken in the 18th century. There are also Quechuan and Aymaran influences in the south but they generally do not have any real protections or national importance.
  • Ethnicity: Blankes (whites) are the predominant ethnic group in Nuvania, composing 55.1% of the population. Nuvanians alone comprise 38%, with smaller groups of Henish, Etrurians, Piraeans, and Estmerish.

Approximately 22.7% of the population is classified as menges, taken from the Nuvanian word for "mixed". These are those with mixed Euclean and Asterindian heritage.

Another 20.1% are classified as inheemse, or indigenous. The composition of the groups in this category is unknown, as the Nuvanian government does not keep records of non-white ethnic or people groups.

The remaining 2.9% is classified as "other", and this is largely where non-residents and those not classified as being within one of the other groups are placed.
  • Religion: Nuvanian Kasperism is the predominant religion within Nuvania and is officially the state religion. Despite this, freedom of worship is guaranteed in the Constitution of Nuvania. Other Christian faiths and traditional beliefs are also present.
  • Languages: Nuvanian is the sole official language in Nuvania.
Government Type: Nuvania is a parliamentary republic with a dominant party bicameral legislature. It shares many aspects with a totalitarian democracy.

Nuvania has a bicameral legislature known as the National Council (Nasionale Raad). The lower chamber is known as the General Council (Algemene Raad), which is composed of exactly 400 members, who are referred to as "councilors" (raadslede). These councilors are elected from 40 10-member constituencies and parties are allocated seats based on who wins a place within the constituency. Elections are held every five years and in keeping with the democratic aspect of the government, are able to be renewed. The General Council functions much like a typical lower house, with the ability to construct, debate, and amend legislature. However these are the only powers the lower chamber has.

The upper chamber is the Legislative Council (Wetgewende Raad) is composed of 60 "legislators" (wetgewers). Each legislator comes from a district in one of Nuvania's 12 provinces, with each province entitled to five districts. Each legislator is elected to the same term limits in both length and renewal as councilors. They have less limited powers, but are unable to perform any government oversight. Instead their role is to approve legislation passed up from the General Council, and to approve decrees and orders passed down from the State President. Furthermore it is the only chamber that is allowed to approve government spending, although this is a formality rather than of genuine use.

Head of Government: The Head of Government is known as the Chief Minister (Hoofminister) and is in control of implementing government policy, and daily governance and administration of Nuvania. Chief Ministers are essentially the party leader of the largest party in the National Council, and are elected to five year renewable terms. The incumbet Chief Minister is Johannes Cronje of the National People's Party (NVP).
Requested GDP Per Capita: $28,895 (PPP)/$11,177 (Nominal)
National Overview: Nuvania (Nuwanië), officially the Nuvanian Free State (Nuwanse Vrystaat), is a country located in the southwest of Asteria Inferior. It is bordered to the west by San Luca across the Van der Steyn Strait, the north by Vilcasumanas, and x to the east.

Before the arrival of Eucleans, Nuvania was inhabited by Asterindian peoples who inhabited the interior and coastal regions. The first Eucleans to sight and land on the Asterian coastline were Hennish explorers, among them Sijbrand Kroese, who mapped the northwestern coastline of Asteria Inferior. However, no serious attempt at colonisation was made for over two centuries, as the western coast of Asteria Inferior was considered to be too dry and uninhabitable for Eucleans. A series of Estmerean and Gaullican trading posts were established in the meantime, both of which were abandoned before the arrival of the first Hennish migrants.

In 1744, the conequest of Hennehouwe prompted the first wave of Hennish migration to Nuvania. These migrants were Kasperists fleeing persecution from the Gaullic authorities, and thus convinced themselves that they were akin to an ancient Biblical tribe fleeing persecution, establishing a new utopia for God's chosen people. Among those fleeing was Willem Van der Byl, a Kasperist priest and founder of the Nuvanian State Church, the new religious and moral authority in the new settlements.

Progressive waves of migration fueled growth of the new settlements, which were not colonies, but settlements establishing a new state on June 5, 1749. In this respect they adopted the moniker of a vrystaat, or Free State, from which a radical preservation of independence and national identity developed. The hardships of the subsequent years following the establishment of the Nuvanian Free State shaped the image and the culture of the Nuvanians, which became distinct from that of the Hennish.

As the population grew, demand for land increased. This not only brought them into contact with those living in the interior. The settlers who arrived and moved inland from the now established coastal towns and cities became known as trekkers, and espoused some of the most extreme views of the manifestation of Nuvanian superiority and entitlement to their new land. Between 1818 and 1830 they perpetrated one of the largest deliberate ethnic cleansing and genocide campaigns in the Asterias, killing and eradicating dozens of tribes in what is known today as the Great Pacification (Groot Staking). Up to 1.5 million Asterindians were killed in this period.

The discovery of gold and other minerals in the 1860's prompted an economic and technological boom that lasted well into the 20th century, known as the Golden Epoch (Goue Epog) in which the wealth from Nuvania's natural resources transformed the country into a regional power. This came to an end with the Panic of 1950, and a protracted period of economic decline. This created social unrest, which remains prevalent to this day. A series of political reforms and a transition away from the influence of the Oranian State Church in the 1970's and 1980's resulted in Nuvania becoming one of the few "totalitarian" democracies in Kylaris.

Social views:
  • General population's view on LGBT+ rights/LGBT+ people: Most people are tolerant of the LGBT community although this belief is more prevalent in the urban areas than in rural communities which are still very conservative. Same sex intercourse is legal, but marriage is not.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: The vast majority of individuals in Nuvania are ambivalent towards other religions.
  • General population's view on atheism: Nuvanians are generally tolerant of atheists.
  • General population's view on abortion: A majority of women support on-demand abortions but there is little political will to change existing laws.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Most people regard the menges as being mostly good people, and under the law they are treated more or less equally to whites, with some exceptions, although conservative areas will very readily discriminate against them. Only the more liberal people in the major cities regard the indigenous as being anything more than cheap labour.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation: The treatment of indigenous peoples is very much prevalent in both law and wider society, with exceptions. Generally Nuvania could be described as "liberal conservative".
  • View on immigration into country: Mostly positive.
  • Women's Rights: Women are held equal under the law but discrimination is widespread.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Nuvanians are tolerant of tobacco and alcohol use, and surprisingly marijuana use. Both tobacco and alcohol are widespread and are commonly consumed, and marijuana is widely tolerated for its medicinal purposes.

  • Factbook: In the process of being written
  • RP Preferences: No idea.
  • RP Samples: Bugger all.
  • RP Intentions: Mostly worldbuilding
  • Primary/Other NS Nations: Costa Fierro.

  • Languages: Kyrgyz (common), Xiaodongese (academic)

National Overview:

The Koh Valley was visited intermittently by the nomadic peoples of the high steppes from time to time to gather wood. The Koh spring flows into the Dadong River, which the nomads called Suuchik, and supplied them fresh water, but the rough terrain leading up the spring and the poor grazing lands prevented permanent settlement for many years. Seasonal camps did eventually coalesce in a small farming village that traded honey and timber to nomads for livestock and goods from distant lands. As the village grew, it expanded down the banks of the Dadong and a complex irrigation network developed to sustain the settlement. Earthworks were constructed to protect the citizens, but they primarily relied on their continuing good relations with the nomads for security. With the establishment of large tribal confederacies, the government of Suuchiksaar, the City of Suuchik was formalized as well. A local family was elevated to the status of Bey by the Ulchig confederacy; their responsibility was essential to ensure the payment of the tribute.

Suuchik was conquered by the First Phuli Empire and the Bey was replaced by a military governor assisted by monks. They built a monastery called Amamkronsissi, the Pride of Bees, which quickly developed into the focal point of the city. Tekeberaari is still used as a name for the city. Suuchik’s range of trade was greatly expanded by the Phuli and, while it was not a great city among the Phuli, it grew into a successful town. A fire destroyed much of the old town and the monastery and the town was rebuilt further down the stream, though the monastery was rebuilt on its original ground. At this point, the city was renamed by monks to Waswarmanne--the water clothed in moonlight--but the native inhabitants called it Kumussuv--the silver waters--from which the modern name is derived.

The decline of the Phuli left the city adrift until it again fell under the sway of the nomadic empires. Unlike in earlier times, however, Kumussuv initially resisted the steppe aristocracy. After losing several engagements, the leaders of Kumussuv were denied the right to build their own fortifications and the monastery became the exclusive fortress of the city for many years. They Bey was replaced and now paid his tribute to the Khagan.

The Bey of the city saw an opportunity to win his freedom from the Khagans in the middle of the Tao dynasty when they began to embrace Satyism. The Bey built a second, large monastery overlooking the city and invited prominent Satyist teachers from the Tao court there. While the most prominent Satyists declined, eventually Zhang Gui and his eighteen students accepted and moved to Kumuso, mostly because the Tao emperor did not look favorably on Zhang’s rejection of legalism. After Zhang had taken up residency in the monastery, the Bey immediately declared his independence and stopped the payment of tributed the Khagan. The Khagan sent Juqu Shuzi and his family, the Jushi clan, to settle the issue while at the same time, the Bey sent emissaries to the Tao court to protect him and Zhang Gui. The Tao emperor did not respond and the Bey’s army deserted, allowing Juqu Shuzi to seize the city and set up his clan as the upper class of Kumuso.

Juqu Shuzi, knowing that trade with the Tao was the source of wealth in Kumuso, did not execute Zhang Gui and instead sent his children to be educated at the monastery. Shuzi’s great grandson, Anzhou invited the later Tao to rule the city as the declining Khagans offered less and less protection against the other cities in modern Zorasan to the north. Anzhou had been forced to maintain his own army to protect trade and the expenses grew constantly. Additionally, Anzhou, a member of the Juqu clan, had been forced to rely on the native Yanogu for his soldiery and greatly feared rebellion. A commandery was established at Kumuso, or Gaochang as it was then called, with a garrison. Under the rule of the Tao Kumuso prospered as a transport hub to the north and the monastery there was patronized heavily by the Tao.

In the brief unrest of the Jiao rise to power, the ruling Juqu family was massacred and their palace burned down. The peasants who had rebelled also threatened the monastery with destruction, but the monks threw open the gates and welcomed the peasants instead. They quickly accepted the rule of Pekir Oogi. In return for their obedience, Pekir merely expelled them from their monastery, but allowed them to continue living in the city. Pekir declared him Salamist and historians theorize that his teacher Abduhalik may have been the one to originally agitate for the rebellion. Under Pekir’s descendants, Kumuso reached its peak. Able to resist the influence of the Jiao and Pardarians on its own, Kumuso was a hub of trade and learning. Satyists and Salamists were able to converse freely and there was a flowering of philosophy during this period.

After the Kumuso Flower period, it quickly fell back under the sway of the Xiaodongese and the Pardarians. Different Beys were able to leverage their position to the enhancement of Kumuso or foolishly fell under the control of one of the religious factions in the city. In an effort to avoid relying on either the Salamists or the Satyists, Bey Baurchuk began to rely on this advice of a Solarian Catholic missionary. This ultimately led to a series of diplomatic blunders that made Kumuso reliant on the Etrurian colonial empire. Kumuso was then made into a hub for Etrurian trade, but it greatly impoverished the local citizens. In the late 19th century, the Etrurians would be expelled by the Satyists and a Satyist Bey enthroned.

Social views:
  • General population's view on LGBT+ rights/LGBT+ people: Homosexuality is illegal, but decriminalised. Transsexuals do not receive care at state-owned healthcare facilities. It is considered bad luck to have a homosexual child, so when discovered, they are typically disowned. Certain faith healers have claimed the ability to cure children of homosexuality, others have claimed the ability to test babies at birth, which has lead to many instances of infanticide.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Most religions are accepted, but ancestor worship is a unifying factor of the people. Shrines to the “Fathers of the People” are in many public places.
  • General population's view on atheism: Atheism and agnosticism are quickly growing elements of society. Some efforts have been made to increase the exposure of young people to religion, but most people accept the decline of religion as an inevitable sign of the end times.
  • General population's view on abortion: Abortion is illegal.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Kumuso has a long history as a multiethnic city, but the Xiaodongese are generally more emulated the Pardarians less favorable.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation:
  • View on immigration into the country:
  • Women's Rights: Women have few protections and are generally considered second-class citizens.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Tobacco is a common drug, but marijuana is illegal.

National information
Official Name: United Mujic Republics of Ardam and Kiara
Shortened Name: Umoja (means 'Union')
Requested Location:
Requested Population: 55 million
Culture: The Wanaji people first arrived in what they called ‘Ardam’ in 150 AD. Ardam, deriving from Ardhi ya Mti, means ‘Land of the Tree’ which is in reference to the numerous Baobab trees which dot the landscape of most of Umoja. The Wamaji people were a small bantu-like tribe which had expanded immensely by 150AD and settled various parts of modern-day Umoja, bringing with them a more sedentary lifestyle. With them came the religion of Mujua, a syncretic religion that spread widely throughout the land. Mujua believes in one supreme god, but also recognizes the existence of other gods. Therefore all adhere to Mujua, but may have their own local gods.

The Wanaji and Mujua religion is what unifies much of Umojan culture, even though it is also diverse. The culture OOCly mainly draws from bantu-swahili and east african culture, primarily kenya. There’s also prevalent arabian influence. The Wanaji group spread much like the arabs and brought their religion with them. Pre-Wanaji, Ardam was occupied by semetic-like horn of africa groups, so alot of influences there.
  • Ethnicity: Most consider themselves ‘Mujua’ broadly in an ethno-religious sense, but also identify with a secondary ethnicity, such as Wanaji, some Semites, etc.
  • Religion: Mujua, then whatever else the region has I’m open to having plenty of. Mujua is based on the commonalities of Bantu and Maasai mythology syncretized into an organized religion. I am entirely open to adopting a regional religion though if preferred.
  • Languages: Kiwanaji(national) - [former conqueror/colonizer language if applicable] - many local languages(arabic, amharic, etc)
Government Type: Mujic Theocracy
Head of State: Laibon (High Priest): Busar Andaiye
Head of Government: Prime Minister: Rasheda Tamuhawa
Requested GDP Per Capita: I’m flexible on this depending on how I develop canon and economic relations, however aiming for more ‘Iran’ level(depending on how or if Umoja is economically excluded in the same way) given the prompt instead of subsaharan-starving-level.
National Overview:
Pre-Wanaji invasion, there was a complex of warring semetic kingdoms with polytheistic faiths, while the proto-Wanaji brew to the side as small pastoral communities. The Wanaji come in and create much of what is modern Ardam, spread religion, have a good killing and form the Ashan Empire, which collapses and is succeeded by a string of other hopeful budding empires, including the likely euro who took advantage of the land’s turmoil. The coast was colonized while an independent protectorate, a remnant of the Ashan Empire, Ardam, paid tribute to the colonizers. In the 1950s, revolution would erupt in Ardam and the theocracy would lead a coup against the foreign-backed imperial government, At this time East Ardam had become independent, but succumbed to Western Ardam forces. This reconquest was seen as rightful by the Mujic theocracy, a reclamation of land and culture, destroying the post-colonial borders. The small, neighboring country of Kiara had also gained independence while having a thriving Mujic population and entered in a Union with Ardam on peaceful terms. In the post-colonial timeframe, East and West Ardam, and Kiara, would be unified under a single theocratic banner. The country would be commonly known as 'Umoja', meaning 'Unity'.

Some politics:
The Laibon guides the government along a righteous Mujic path and is considered the highest mortal speaker of Engai(god), employed by the High Priesthood. The Prime Minister does usual PM head of gov things, at the approval and close oversight of the Laibon. Behind the Laibon is a deep surveillance Order of Priest which terrorizes the government daily, except for sunday; sunday is church day.

Social views:
  • General population's view on LGBT+ rights/LGBT+ people: Mujua actually has no problem with them, not even mentioned. Mujua isn’t very ‘modest’ anyway.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Oppressive heresy
  • General population's view on atheism: So you’re telling me you don’t believe in Engai? Any god? You are lost.
  • General population's view on abortion: What the fuck
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Damn white people and arabs stealin’ my land *cocks AK-47*, yup.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation: Above^ short answer: yes
  • View on immigration into country: Make Ardam Great Again
  • Women's Rights: egalitarian, actually. In the context of Ardamite culture, abortion is a very notable exception.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs:technically all non-criminal but heavily regulated

  • Factbook: nop
  • RP Preferences: Character driven and conflict if anything
  • RP Samples: recent ones viewtopic.php?f=5&t=461736

  • RP Intentions: WOrldbuilding' mostly, news post, some anthology stuff maybe
  • Primary/Other NS Nations: Tulura
  • Any troubles with moderation? (If so, a link, please.): no
  • Anything else?: nah
