National information
Official Name: The Republic of Clasa
Shortened Name: Clasa
Requested Location: The island in the Alexandrian Gulf, to the east of Vinalia.
Requested Population: 5.000.000
Culture: Clasa's culture is heavily influenced by Euclean, mainly Gaullican traditions. In the 20th century Clasa however developed a very distinct music culture.
  • Ethnicity: Most people in Clasa has a mix of Euclean and native Clasanese ancestry.
  • Religion: Clasa is officially a secular state. However Solarian catholicism is the biggest religion.
  • Languages: Gaullican is the official language. In some rural areas a dialect called Mélanger is spoken, which mixes Gaullican with some native languages.
    Government Type: Unitary Presidential Republic.
Head of State: President Sam Beaux
Head of Government: Same as above
    Requested GDP Per Capita: $25.000
National Overview: Human activity on Clasa can be traced back as far as 1000 BCE, when a native people called Xasa landed on the island. Several smaller tribal kingdoms have ruled on the island but the first known unification happened in the 8th century, when a federation of five major tribes was formed. In the 17-18th century Gaullica set foot on Clasa and colonized it. In the 19th century independence was gained and what followed was a turbulent time with various figures trying to shape the young nation. In the early 1900s an excentric totalitarian president took charge and industrialised the country. He eventually grew more and more unpopular. During the Great War a rebellion takes place which sees a new change in power. In the 1970s a military junta stages a coup. It all escalates into a long drawn conflict which lasts well into the 1990s. The conflict finally ends and in the last 25 years Clasa has developed into a relatively stable and modern economy.

    Social views:
    • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: In the last decade, homosexuality has become less of a stigma, although some religious people still oppose it.
    • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Some eastern religions are viewed with skepticism.
    • General population's view on atheism: Atheism is viewed with skepticism in the more rural ares.
    • General population's view on abortion: Since its decriminalization in 2011, abortion has become less stigmatized. On the countryside however, you can still find strong anti-abortion sentiment.
    • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Since Clasa traditionally has a lot of people with mixed heritage, it is not a big issue with ethnic violence.
    • Any big prejudices in your nation: WIP
    • View on immigration into country: Immigration is not seen as a problem, although Gaullican speaking immigrants seem to be favored by most Clasanese.
    • Women's Rights: Generally good. Clasanese family structures have traditionally been very matriarchal.
    • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Although marijuana is still illegal officially, it is widely used by many. Clasa is also a big exporter of rum and tobacco.

    • Factbook: (WIP)
    • RP Preferences: Mostly history-driven but also interested in a bit of everything.
    • RP Samples: Unfortunately none i can give you.
    • RP Intentions: Worldbuilding

National information
Official Name: Valorean Republic (Vespasian: Repubblica Valoreana)
Shortened Name: Valorea
Requested Location: Territory North-East of Caluchia, Asteria Inferior
Requested Population: 10.869.349
Culture: Valorean culture is greatly influenced and shaped by the Etrurian culture due to being a former colony, and even after the independence a strong bond still remained with the motherland.
  • Ethnicity: 77,2% Valorean (mix between Euclean colonizers, mainly Etrurian, and natives), 9,4% Natives (Mapuche and Makotana peoples), 6,8% Euclean, 6,6% Other.
  • Religion: 76,3% Solarian Catholic, 2,3% Native Religions, 16,4% Non-Religious, 4,9% Other.
  • Languages: Vespasian (Official), Native Languages (Official at County level). Small communities of Novalian and Carinthian speakers exist, but they are not official languages.
    Government Type: Parliamentary Republic
Head of State: President of the Republic Cesare Mezzarin
Head of Government: Prime Minister Viviana Rastaga
Requested GDP Per Capita: $11.873 (Nominal)
National Overview: Human presence in Valorean territory has been confirmed to go back to 700 BCE, when tribal groups settled the area. Around 500 years later, a few established city-states arose, but all were small and short lived, without any true impact on the area. The territory was discovered in the early 1600' by Povelian Merchants sailing the Asterian coast. Settlers from Povelia arrived 2 years later, and founded the first city (Mailana). In the following years forts and military outposts were enstablished on the coast for Povelia to have permanent settlements on the Lumine Ocean to open trade in the area. Due to the lack of volounteers for settlements, Povelia established Valorea as a Penal Colony. Independence was achieved during the Ten Years War, when Povelian Overlords were arrested and sent back to Povelia. The Republic was proclaimed the same day. During the Great War, Valorea joined the Grand Alliance and eventually won the war. The nation grew swiftly, both in population and economy, after the war, and established herself as a small but capable nation on the world stage. Currently Povelia is in a tense situation: Native people are rebelling due to the integration attempts, the civil war in Marirana has increased the power of drug cartels, and the infinite battle between left and right wing is raging. Currently the Prime Minister Viviana Rastaga (Valorea Invicta party) and her recently elected right wing coalition, are trying to dismount the bureaucratic system enstablished by the previous left wing coalition. The smaller (but much louder) left wing coalition is also split on the inside: the more progressive PLV, which had Matteo Rinza as the prime minister for the last 8 years, (Partito Libertà Valoreana, Valorean Liberty Party) and the GSL (Gruppo Social-Lavorista , Labour-Social Group), which is more socialist, have been fighting for almost a decade now. This "inside" war has made both parties more unpopular, since in the last years of their power they mostly rejected eachothers legislatures and didn't fix the problems the country was having. Internal fights are also present in the right wing coalition, with VI favouring a more active role of Valorea on the global scale, while LCV (Lega Conservatrice Valoreana, Valorean Conservative League) favors a more isolationist agenda. Big street protests are becoming a weekly occurance, although police never had to intervene as protesters didn't become violent. The National Police, which are called "Carabinieri" is on high alert, and the high reputation it built over the years is at risk of breaking if the response to the protests are too violent.
Military Overview: Small professional force capable of home defence as well as peacekeeping deployments worldwide. Around 30.000 personnel, 24 combat jets, 1 LPD,
    2 Submarines.

    Social views:
    • General population's view on LGBT+ rights/LGBT+ people: Homosexuality has been mostly accepted, skepticism remains in highly religious people and in the elderly. Homosexual marriages have been a hot topic for years, but they were recently legalized. Adoption is still the subject of fierce debate both in the media and in the Government.
    • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Freedom of faith is a constitutional right, and all religions are widely accepted, as the country is also really open to immigration.
    • General population's view on atheism: Atheism, which came from the Euclean immigration during the XX and XXI centuries, is well accepted in society, there has never been tension between religious and non religious people in the country.
    • General population's view on abortion: Abortion is a big topic for discussion in the media, but currently the law states that it is illegal with exception for maternal life, health, mental health and/or rape, and also for fetal defects. The populous is pretty divided on the topic as well.
    • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): ethnic diversity has been a reality for decades or even centuries, so all the ethnic groups coexist peacefully between each other. Struggles still exist tho: native peoples, which recently experienced a notable migration into urban areas, started to protest, claiming that inequalities exist between natives and non-natives reguarding mainly high-level education and healthcare. The native communities also have expressed disbelief about how few natives partecipated in national politics.
    • View on immigration into country: Valorea is really open to immigration, and tries to encourage it with diverse paths to get a citizenship or a work VISA.
    • Women's Rights: women were kept in traditional roles for a long time, but since the 70’ and 80’ women have actively joined the workforce, and nowadays they are de jure and de facto equal to men. Feminist groups are still active, claiming that inequalities still exist.
    • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Tobacco, Marijuana and alcohol are all legal from age 18, and do not pose any particular problem to society. Both Tobacco and Marijuana production is regulated by the state. Other Drugs have posed a problem, especially in 90’s, when Marirana’s drug cartels reached the height of their power, and with every power spike of Marirana’s cartels there was a spike of drug trafficking in Valorea. Today drug groups are on the surge again due to the civil war in Marirana, but drug consumption has generally declined as quality of life increased in the last decades.

National information
Official Name: United Republic of Sinharia (Sinhari: Sınhariya Birikken Respwblıkasy, Pardarian: جمهوری متحد سینهاریا)
Shortened Name: Sinharia (Sinhari: Sınhariya, Pardarian: سینهاریا)
Requested Location:
Requested Population: 10,342,069
Culture: My main inspiration for Sinharia is Kazakhstan, though Sinharia is far more diverse than RL Kazakhstan.

Sinharia’s location at the crossroads of southern Coius, Satria, and Badawiya have made it a melting pot of diverse cultures. The largest ethnic group are the Sinhari, the original inhabitants of the land, who make up 58.5% of the population. A nomadic people for much of their history, the Sinhari can be divided into three subgroups, known as zhuz, or clans. These in turn can be further divided into hundreds of small tribes, with populations ranging from under 1,000 to over 50,000. Historically, tribal identity was central to Sinhari life, but its importance has largely faded since the mid 20th century due to the government emphasizing pan-Sinhari unity. Sinhari is their primary language, and the vast majority practice Irfan or Badi, with a small minority practicing traditional beliefs.

Ethnic Pardarians make up 31.9% of the population, mostly concentrated in northern Sinharia. Most Pardarians are descended from the people of the Gorsanid Empire, which conquered Sinharia in the 17th century. Many Pardarians in Sinharia desire the annexation of majority-Pardarian areas of Sinharia by Zorasan, and their population in Sinharia has declined considerably since the late 20th century due to increased migration to Zorasan. The vast majority of Pardarians practice Irfan and speak Pardarian.

Other ethnic groups living in Sinharia include Yanogu, who make up 6.2% of the population, Tagoti, who make up 2.3%, and Xiaodongese, who make up 0.7%. These three of groups are largely clustered near the borders of Kumuso, Ajahadya, and Xiaodong respectively.

  • Ethnicity:
    Sinhari: 58.5%
    Pardarian: 31.9%
    Yanogu: 6.2%
    Tagoti: 2.3%
    Xiaodongese: 0.7%
    Other: 0.4%
  • Religion:
    Irfan: 64.9%
    Badi: 25.3%
    Traditional beliefs: 2.9%
    Other/irreligious: 6.9%
  • Languages: Sinhari is the official language, with over 97% of the population being fluent in it. Pardarian is a recognized national language and is mostly spoken in majority-Pardarian areas. In recent years, Gaullican has seen increasing prominence as a lingua franca and is now taught in all schools. No other languages are recognized by the government, and those who exclusively speak them are subject to considerable discrimination.
Government Type: Federal dominant-party presidential constitutional republic
Head of State and head of government: President Nariman Atasar, in office since 1989
    Requested GDP Per Capita:
    Nominal: $11,492
    PPP: $32,384
National Overview: For millennia, the Sinhari people were a collection of tribes inhabiting the Coian Steppe who frequently found themselves in the way of various expansionist empires. In the 15th century, threatened by the Gorsanids from the west, the Tao from the south, and the Togoti from the east, the tribes banded together in the Sinhari Confederation, later the Sinhari Empire, which fended off foreign aggression and dominated the Coian Steppe from the late 15th to mid 17th centuries, when it was destroyed at the hands of the Gorsanids. Now under foreign rule, the Sinhari people repeatedly rebelled against Gorsanid rule, with the First Sinhari War of 1827-1844 eventually forcing the crumbling Gorsanid Empire to withdraw from much of the region. After a brief period of warring tribal confederations, the area was incorporated into the Etrurian-controlled Shahdom of Pardaran as the province of Sinharia. Etrurian rule saw the discovery of Sinharia’s vast reserves of natural gas and precious metals, and the economic exploitation of the region began. Although Sinharia was one of the regions of Pardaran least resistant to Etrurian rule, revolts did sometimes occur, mostly in the majority-Pardarian northern areas of the province.

When Etruria withdrew from the region in 1946 as per the Treaty of Ashcombe, Sinharia was made an independent state, However, the Shahdom of Pardaran immediately attempted to annex the new country, declaring that its large population of ethnic Pardarians made it rightful Pardarian territory. Despite initial successes, the Shahdom was forced to withdraw from Sinharia in 1949 due to the advancing PRRC. The new government quickly succumbed to the formation of cliques along tribal lines, and found itself subject to numerous insurgencies, most notably the Zorasan-backed Irfanic Revolutionary Brigades, Sattarist rebel groups with strong support among the Pardarian population. A 1957-1960 drought led to a devastating famine in the early 1960s, worsened by rampant government corruption and mismanagement. In the famine-stricken rural areas, support for communism surged, and large swathes of the countryside quickly fell to communist guerrilla groups. In 1965, the Sinhari army was rocked by troop mutinies, with thousands of troops defecting to the communist Sinhari Revolutionary Army, led by Marat Zanhur. Months later, the SRA marched into the national capital and Zanhur declared the founding of the Sinhari People’s Republic, a one-party socialist dictatorship with himself at his center. In 1988, a popular revolution, amid other factors, ousted the socialist government. A new constitution was written the following year, establishing the ostensibly democratic United Republic of Sinharia.

Since the end of communist rule in 1989, Sinharia has been governed by Nariman Atasar and his Sinhari Future Alliance. The country has a poor human rights record and is considered one of the most politically repressive nations in the world. Sinharia is considered a quintessential southern democracy, with most political power concentrated in Atasar’s inner circle of military leaders, high-ranking government bureaucrats, corporate leaders, and crime bosses. Under Atasar, the government has worked to reduce Sinharia’s deep cultural divisions, to liberalize the nation’s economy, and to build favorable relations with neighboring countries.
Military Overview: The Sinhari National Defense Forses (SNDF) play an active role in the country’s domestic and foreign affairs. Several military officers are in the upper echelons of Atasar’s inner circle, and are believed to play a major role in Atasar’s foreign policy. Sinhari military doctrine is primarily based on defending Sinharia from foreign aggression, and cooperating with Sinharia’s allies to secure national interests abroad. Sinharia had a nuclear program from 1974 until 1990, when it voluntarily decommissioned its equipment. In 2004, President Atasar admitted that Sinharia had covertly researched and manufactured chemical and biological weapons during the 1970s and 1980s, though he claimed that the program was discontinued and any manufactured weapons destroyed after the end of communist rule. Some nations have continued to allege that Sinharia continues work towards developing WMDs in secret, and have called for a CoN inspection.

    Social views:
    • General population's view on LGBT+ rights/LGBT+ people: Sinharia has a poor record on LGBT rights. Although same-sex activity has been legal since 1966, there is considerable stigma against it in society as a whole. Transgender people face considerably less stigma, and since 2008, people who undergo gender reassignment surgery have been allowed to legally change their gender. Recent years have seen public acceptance of LGBT issues increase somewhat, and annual pride parades are held in some cities, though there are often large groups of counter-protestors. In 2015, the SNDF announced it would drop its ban on gays and lesbians from serving, though transgender people remained banned from military service. Despite this progress, many obstacles remain. LGBT people have no legal protection from discrimination, and proposed anti-discrimination laws failed to pass due to strong opposition from conservative religious groups. In addition, so-called “public morality” laws have recently been passed by several municipal governments prohibiting public expression of homosexuality or transgenderism.
    • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Irfan, Badi, and traditional Sinhari folk religions (lumped together by the government as “traditional beliefs”) are the only three recognized religions in Sinharia. Minority religions face considerable persecution, as while the Sinhari constitution provides for freedom of religion, it only provides for the freedom to practice “any sect or interpretation of any nationally recognized faith or lack thereof.”
    • General population's view on atheism: Although atheists are constitutionally protected from discrimination, lack of faith is generally looked down on in Sinharia, with athiests generally being seen as amoral and self-centered.
    • General population's view on abortion: There are no legal restrictions on abortion in Sinharia. However, the practice carries considerable stigma, and some municipalities have laws banning abortion facilities from operating within their borders.
    • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Relations between the two dominant ethnic groups, Sinhari and Pardarians, can be considered cold at best and hostile at worst. Ethnic violence is a common occurrence, and several supremacist militias exist within the country, though such groups are illegal. Other ethnic groups are subject to frequent discrimination and harassment, partially due to the general population viewing them as “foreigners,” tying into a general prejudice against immigrants in Sinharia.
    • Any big prejudices in your nation: As stated above, foreigners tend to be treated with suspicion or downright hostility, largely due to Sinharia’s history of being conquered by invading foreign nations, which has led to a general siege mentality. In addition, there is a small level of hostility between different tribes, though this has largely faded in recent decades.
    • View on immigration into country: Immigrants are viewed extremely negatively in Sinharia. Although the government has liberalized immigration laws in recent years in an attempt to stem the ongoing migration of Sinhari people out of Sinharia in search of economic opportunity and political freedom, prejudice remains strong among society, and the dominance of xenophobic attitudes against immigrants has often strained Sinharia’s foreign relations.
    • Women's Rights: Sinhari society is broadly egalitarian, and women are generally viewed as equals to men. Discrimination on the basis of gender is constitutionally banned, and there is generally no stigma against women in the workforce, though there is considerable pressure on both women and men to marry and raise children.
    • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs:
Views on drugs are extremely negative, with both generally seen as inherently evil and self-destructive. All recreational drug use is illegal. Sinhari drug laws have been widely criticized for generally punishing the use of drugs rather than the manufacture and distribution of them; while the manufacture and sale of recreational drugs are illegal, these laws are rarely enforced, largely due to the heavy influence of organized crime in politics, as many criminal groups are involved in the drug trade. In general, alcohol is generally viewed as fine in moderation, largely due to its importance to many cultural practices.

National information
Official Name: Republic of Borland
Shortened Name: Borland
Requested Location: between Azmara, Estmere, Werania and the Gulf of Assonaire Image
Requested Population: ca. 7 mio.
Culture: mostly Estmerish, some Borlandic, Weranian (regions near the border), Azmaran (counties near the border)
  • Ethnicity: mostly Estmerish- and Borlandic-speaking Borlanders: 65%, Estmerish, Weranian and Azmaran minorities: 30%; others: 5% (mostly in major cities and of immigrant background)
  • Religion: Sotirianity (split between Solarian Catholic and several Amendist (both reformist and fundamentalist) sects) is the dominant religion of Borland, though the country is officially secular
  • Languages: Estmerish dominates the country still, though Borlandic is also an official language. In some areas, Weranian or Azmaran are recognized minority languages.
Government Type: Democratic Republic (parliamentary)
Head of State: President Yoghen Heithman
Head of Government: Prime Minister Anita Hoven
Requested GDP Per Capita: $41,500
National Overview: The Kingdom of Borland made a union with Estmere in which Estmere was dominant. During the 19th century, Borlandic nationalism grew out of a belief that Borland deserved independence. After the end of the War™, the Estmerish monarchy was abolished and Borland saw the opportunity to declare independence based on the fact that without the monarchy being present, neither was the century-old union. (rough idea, preferrably a peaceful separation)
Borland is has a significant split between urban and rural areas. The state did not privatize many of the state-owned companies (e.g. railways, mail, garbage collection). Starting in the aftermath of an economic crisis [sometime shortly after independence], foundations for a welfare system were laid, though some services have been cut. In general, the economy of urban areas has transitioned from industrial to postindustrial well, with the service sector employing the most in the country, however, some cities have missed chances to transition and diversify their local economies. Rural towns largely are becoming commuter towns for urban areas. Some industry and a lot of agriculture, of course, still prevails. Borlandic society is rather liberal (excluding older generations), though this is explained further down below.
Military Overview: After the end of the War™, newly independent Borland built up a small professional military that is rather underfunded as the nation has not encountered a major threat from its neighbours and has been rather reluctant to join in international military missions in most cases.

Social views:
  • General population's view on LGBT+ rights/LGBT+ people: generally quite open, especially the LGB part, though discrimmination are not unheard of, especially from older generations
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: generally rather respectful, though obscure sects with more fundamental beliefs tend to isolate themselves from society and are less tolerant (also in other manners) while these groups are often criticized. Non-Sotirian religions are generally accepted, but many do not fully approve of traditions clashing with Borlandic ones. The historical Catholic vs. Amendist split is no longer really present in people’s everyday lives as it used to be.
  • General population's view on atheism: taboo topic, though younger generations are opening up
  • General population's view on abortion: even more tabboo. Older generatiosn tend to be hardcore pro-life, younger people more pro-choice, though most would have exceptions
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): the trend of older vs. younger people continues; national minorities tend to face little to no discrimmination nowadays (though their languages might be seen as low prestige), though people with some sort of foreign background (especially so if it is visible) do sometimes still experience discrimmination, especially from older people in rural areas because that’s exactly where there is the fewest non-national minorities
  • Any big prejudices in your nation: a significant portion of Borlanders have some sort of anti-Estmerish sentiment for historic reasons
  • View on immigration into country: generally open, but some form of assimmilation is expected from most
  • Women's Rights: generally accepting, though older generations tend to have that specific view on how a woman/man should be
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs:
alcohol is accepted, pot and many other drugs are getting more accepted while tobacco usage is getting increasingly frowned upon

  • Primary/Other NS Nations: currently only Sayam in Aeia

"Borish" language:
Borish is supposed to be a conlang close to English that is based on a regional dialect of Middle English (think Scots), with some elements taken from Weranian, Azmaran and, especially, Estmerish. Estmerish is the primary language for most people, but especially since independence, Borish has seen a push to be considered part of the national identity.

Why describe the political situation from the 2000s onwards when I can start earlier:
I have thought that early independent Borland would be quite conservative both societally and politically, with a strong sense of nationalism. There would essentially be four main parties: Worker's Party of Borland (demsoc), Conservative Party of Borland (self-explanatory) + an Estmerish and a Borish nationalist party. Society as a whole would become more and more liberal, starting in the 60s, though at first, the political landscape took some time to go with it. In the 70s, the political landscape had only changed in contrast to ye olden days in that the nationalist parties no longer existed in the same form, though a centre-right (now centre-left) party had emerged in the 50s/60s: Centrum. During the 80s, a left-wing opposition emerged with the party Þe Newe Side, as a lot of younger people were more progressively-minded and voted for ÞNS, marking a general shift towards a more progressive attitude. ÞNS was mostly concerned with the wellbeing of the poor and workers (something many said the WPB had lost over the years), and in the same decade, a green party emerged with the Greune Party op Borland (GPB), as environmentalism started to really be a thing. The 90s were characterized by the "old powers" (CPB, WPB) losing power as the opposition grew, although this had the added side-effect that they tried to retain that power by doing the things the opposition parties had advocated for (e.g. green energy, investments into public transport, reintroducing previously cut wellfare services etc.). Though LGBT people started being accepted more and more during the 90s, it took until the late 2000s/early 10s for legal recognition to be extended, as that was the time when ÞNS and GPB managed to get A LOT of votes after Centrum had already been raised from a minor party to a main party in the 2000s. During all this time, the Solarian Catholic Church in Borland continuously lost members, while Amendist Churches (of which there are several) have seen a less dramatic or no decline at all.

I don't think adding specific presidents or prime ministers is necessary here... at least as of yet. I will probably name eras of Borish history after specific individuals because that is what tends to happen etc., but for now, I think the parties and such behind it all are more significant.

Current problems in Borland include the decline of some urban areas since half a century or more, demographics (birth rates had been a joke between the 80s and 00s, but have since recovered to some extent with the changes in policies being more mother-friendly, parent-friendly, family-friendly, supportive of young parents etc.), climate change (duh.), religious fundamentalists trying to shield their children from a changing world by building a parallel-society.

This post has been sponsored by the ÞNS - GPB joint initiative with Centrum support to eat the rich through finally investigating corruption from the last few decades.

Unlike its eastern counterpart, West Miersa has remained close to its traditions, and is additionally a very religious culture. Church attendance is high, and the Episemialist religion is valued highly. Morality is taken directly from religious ideals. There is also a clear influence of Narodyn culture, promulgated both by the state's close relationship with Narozalica, and the presence of the sizable Narodyn minority in the country. Other minorities, such as Vedmedi and Minilovan border communities, as well as ethnic Lemovicians, are also present, but have scant recognition.
  • Ethnicity: The Miersans (65.1%) are the largest ethnic group in the country according to the 2019 census. The only other sizable minority is that of the Narodyns (17.9%), who have significant influence in the country given their smaller size. Other minorities make up the majority of the country (11.3%), such as the Savader population, and border communities such as the Vedmedi and Minilovans, as well as ethnic Lemovicians (5.7%), who will inhabit what is currently Lemovicia.
  • Religion: Miersa was historically a divided nation, religiously, and the west was an Episemialist stronghold. To this day, Episemialism remains the largest religious denomination in the country at 87.4%, and the Episemialist church has significant influence in the country. Catholic (9.7%) minorities exist along the eastern border, along with 2.9% of the 2019 population ascribing to smaller faiths. Religious freedom is guranteed in the constitution, but Episemialism is considered the "national religion".
  • Languages: Miersan is the sole official language, and is also often considered the national language, and Narodyn and Lemovician are the only languages to have been granted official recognition at the regional level. Minorities of a number of languages such as Savader, Vedmedi and Minilovan are present in the country - the latter two larger along the Vedmedi and Minilovan borders respectively - but have no legal recognition.
Government Type: Federal dominant-party semi-presidential republic
Head of State: President Sylwester Wrzesiński
Head of Government: Prime Minister Adrian Rozak
Requested GDP Per Capita: $13,172 (nominal)
National Overview: Miersa was first inhabited by the early Marolevs in the late classical period, as the Solarian Empire expanded into the Miersan hinterlands. Although not conquered by Solaria, the Solarians left a definite legacy in the region. The three first significant Miersan states were known as the Three Crowns, with West Miersa largely constituting Zachódnia and Firencja. They were united with Wybrzeże by Romuald the Bold in 1257. The subsequent Miersan Commonwealth became a significant power in central Euclea, at times rivalling neighbouring powers such as Sunrosia. In 1623, the Cesarz died without issue, leading to the Miersan Interregnum and the rise of the Miersan Republic. The Republic would be short-lived, with the monarchs of Gaullica and Narozalica both claiming the Miersan throne. The conclusion of the War of the Miersan Succession in 1638 put an end to the Interregnum, with land ceded to both Empires and the Duchy of Żobrodź buffer state created. In 1687 the First Miersan Revolt saw the final partition of the country. The western provinces became part of Narozalica, under which they retained their status as part of the breadbasket of Euclea.

Following the Great War, Miersa was largely under the occupation of Narozalica. Following Narozalican posturing and the outbreak of a major general strike, West Miersa was created as a part of the Godfredson Plan, and a CN-monitored DMZ was created. Following in the footsteps of their Narozalican benefactor, West Miersa became a rival to the Swetanian-backed Miersan Socialist Republic. The West Miersan economy, reliant on indemnities from the East, contracted in 1953, following East Miersan refusal to pay further indemnities. In 1979, West Miersa was isolated from Narozalica, and an East Miersan invasion sparked the Miersan War. The interference of the Community of Nations led to the signing of the Treaty of San Alessandro in 1982, which attempted to normalise relations between the two states and saw West Miersa cede Ziarnokosz to the east. During the Miersan War, the Lemovicians would have attempted to secede, leading to a 12-year long war which ended in 1992, with an agreement that divides the former Malomiersan province, with the current Lemovician Entity either becoming an autonomous region in West Miersa, or a ceasefire allows it to maintain de-facto independence a la Transnistria.

Today, West Miersa is a federal dominant-party semi-presidential republic which operates a mixed economy that focuses on natural resources. The current President is Sylwester Wrzesiński. It has a GDP per capita of $13,172. West Miersa is heavily aligned with Narozalica, with some commentators considering West Miersa a puppet state. It is a member of the Community of Nations, the International Council for Democracy and Samorspi.
    Military Overview: Active Troops: ~400,000
    Army: ~350,000
    Air Force: 50,000
Percentage of GDP spent on Defense: 3.2%

West Miersa while having a larger military compared to East Miersa is extremely reliant maintaining a larger active force to compensate for the lack of modern military hardware and overwhelm the East before the war drags on and the East is able to fully mobilize and bring its manpower to bear against them. The Army is made up of primarily mechanized divisions and some armored brigades. The active force is augmented by Episimialist militias that exist within the nation but are not expected to hold together in conventional war. The Air Force while considerably large is operating older equipment and is lacking in many areas for modern equipment especially in terms of Interceptors and other air to air aircraft.

    Social views:
    • General population's view on LGBT+ rights/LGBT+ people: Negative. Episemialist social teachings remain strongly influential, and these preach against same-sex relationships and "transgenderism".
    • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Generally suspicious to negative. Episemialism is the largest religion, and is very influential. Other Sotirians tend to be viewed with a sense of "lost fraternity", but nevertheless are seen in a more negative light than "true believers". Irfan, and other more "foreign" religions, are generally viewed with suspiscion at best and hatred at worst.
    • General population's view on atheism: Irreligion is seen as form of a moral deficiency, and is generally frowned upon greatly. In addition, it is seen as a form of "anti-Western behaviour" associated with Eastern apologism.
    • General population's view on abortion: Negative. Again, the population tends to stick to Episemialist teachings, where abortion is seen as a subversion of God's will.
    • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Complex. The Narodyns and other Narozalic/Marolevian peoples are seen as brothers, in a sense. Savaders are heavily persecuted against, with most instead identifying as Miersan or crossing the border to escape persecution. Lemovicians historically have been forced to assimilate into the Miersan identity, and have generally been looked down upon as being "primitive" and "barbarians," but since Lemovicia was given autonomy in 1992, these views have began to lessen, although they still exist.
    • Any big prejudices in your nation: East Miersans. Invariably known as moral deviants, traitors and Swetanian lackies. Again, the Savader people are used as a scapegoats. Older generations will still see Lemovicians in a negative light.
    • View on immigration into country: Generally indifferent, due to the low level of immigration that occurs. If from Narozalica, generally positive. "Defectors" from the east, rare though they are, are also seen with suspicion, many believing that they are East Miersan spies.
    • Women's Rights: Middling. Women gained the right to vote and other rights after the Great War, but in general there is still cultural stigma attached to "independent women" who stray from family values.
    • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Negative for "illegal" drugs, but alcohol and tabacco are incredibly popular pastimes.

    • Factbook:

    • RP Samples: Current member.
    • RP Intentions: Both
    • Primary/Other NS Nations: Rwizikuru (under the Luziyca account), Imagua, Lemovicia (until this application is approved)
    • Any troubles with moderation? (If so, a link, please.): n/a
    • Anything else?: Calt has approved of this transfer from him to I, and recommended me to C+P their app but add mentions of Lemovicia to it. Also, as much as I would love to keep Lemovicia as is, having two puppets border each other would be very q-worded, hence my suggestion to make it an autonomous region (or maybe to spice it up, the current Lemovician Entity could be something like Transnistria: de-facto independent but nobody recognizes it).

Presidential Palace Chief of Staff Jeremy King Steps Down

After serving beside the President for three years, Chief of Staff Jeremy King has announced he will be stepping down after being hospitalized for severe pneumonia.

King collapsed three days ago at the Presidential Camp in Jamestown and was rushed to the hospital where he had to undergo surgery and was placed on a ventilator. His doctors appeared before the press yesterday where they announced he is in stable but critical condition and will remain at the hospital for the foreseeable future.

First thing this morning, President John Williams announced that he was promoting Presidential Palace Press Secretary Laura Kerschen to the position of Chief of Staff until Mr. King returns,

"After surgery 36 hours ago I am relieved to announce that Jeremy is in stable condition and headed for a full recovery. Though he will always be a very valuable part of this administration, he will not be returning to his post. I am therefore pleased, and terribly proud to announce that effective immediately, the Presidential Palace Chief of Staff will be filled by Laura Kerschen"

Space Shuttle Aquarius Launches from Jamestown

The shuttle Aquarius, the newest craft to the AusValia fleet took off at 9:30pm local time. The mission will bring the next six astronauts to the AusValia lunar lab located on the Fra Mauro site.

This will be the second crew to land on the site since it was built. They will remain for seven weeks for a two part mission. First, they will work to improve communications between the station and earth as well as a drilling operation.

Aquarius is expected to touchdown on the moon Sunday morning.

Both Houses Pass the President's Economic Security Bill

After months of negotiations, the Upper House finally passed the last phase of the President's Economic Security Bill, which mandates that a person can only engage in five day trades a week within the stock market if they have less than $25,000 in their portfolio.

The bill came after the economic recession nearly four years ago, in which many people were driven into debt by day trading (buying and selling a stock within one business day). The new bill works to protect those who are not financially safe to engage in such trades and offers federal protections.

Some Conservative members felt that it was too much government oversight, but eventually agreed. The bill won't officially take effect until the end of the year.

United One Trust Cuts Deal with the Justice Council

United One Trust which has been under investigation by two city attorneys, the Upper House, and the Justice Council for three years, announced today they have reached a deal with the AUS government.

Justice Council Director David Rosen,
"Good morning, today I come before you to say that United One Trust will be held accountable for the stunning lack of oversight. UOT has admitted its guilt. Today, the Justice Council announces that United One Trust is being charged with two counts of violations of the AusValia banking laws and codes of ethics. As part of it's resolution of these charges, UOT has agreed to forfeit 1.9 billion dollars. They have also agreed to pay civil penalties of 665 million dollars. UOT has engaged and agreed to partially defer from bonus compensation for its most senior executives and they have a agreed to this for a five year term, along with a corporate monitor and a requirement of ongoing cooperation."

There was a deferred prosecution agreement with the UOT, meaning there will be no prosecution of the bank or its top executives, despite more than a decade of dealings with criminals and terrorists.

Dozens of past District Attorneys, and even United Future Party Councilmen has harshly criticized the Justice Council's decision,

"They cut a deal, plain a simple. They paid a fine of nearly two billion dollars, which for a bank of this size, is roughly five weeks of profit. No individual was charged with any crime, no individual was fined any money. This is just a big bank, that was essentially let off the hook.", Former Attorney General for the City of Perth Derrick Grains.

"If you are caught with an ounce of cocaine, the chances are good you are going to go to jail. If it happens repeatedly, you may go to jail for the rest of your life, but evidently if you launder nearly a billion dollars for drug cartels and violate our international sanctions, your company pays a fine. That is fundamentally wrong. That is not equal justice under the law. That is not accountability.", UFP Councilwoman Elizabeth Smart, Upper House.

Justice Council Director David Rosen has stood by his decision,

"Look the goal here is not to bring the bank down, it is not to hurt our economy and leave tens of thousands of people without jobs."

National information
Official Name: Grand Principality of Tengaria
Shortened Name: Tengaria
Requested Location:
Requested Population: 22,350,000
Culture: (A brief summation of the nation's culture, language, and so forth. If it has a real-world equivalent or inspiration, be sure to list it here.)
  • Ethnicity: The vast majority of the country identifies as Tengarian (!Bulgarian), which is an ethnic group which is defined by its common identity, based upon the historic linguistic tradition which the Tengarian tribes shared. However, having been occupied by Poliaria and Amathia historically, there are small minorities of Amathians and Poliarian groups present. In addition, there is a migratory group known as the Tuathan, which is like the !Romani.
  • Religion: The primary religious group is Episemialist, comprising 67% of the Population. 24% is Iconoclast, and 4% is Tengarian Catholic, and 3% other. The country is deeply Sotrian, having a rich Episemialist tradition to it, although this caused it to be at odds with its Iconoclast neighbor, Poliaria. Over the centuries of occupation, several of the Western portions and authorities and elements sympathetic to Poliaria of the country converted to Iconoclast Episemialism, although there was. Recent attempts in past two centuries for a reunification with Solaris created a division among the Episemialist community, although the vast most majority remain Epismeialist.
  • Languages: The vast majority of the country speaks Tengarian, which is the officially established national language; the Tuathan have their own language. In addition, Volynian and Amathian are also spoken by portions of the population.
Government Type: Authoritatrian Dominant Party Presidential Republic
Head of State: President Teodora Kovachev
Head of Government: Same as Head of State
Requested GDP Per Capita: $11,500
National Overview: The Tengar tribes were conquered and Sotrianized by the Empire of Arciluco after 500 AD. After the Empire declined, a Grand Principality was formed at the new millennia, nominally recognizing the authority of the Emperor but de facto indepdenent. As an Iconophile state, it was drawn into the Iconoclast Wars in the mid fifteenth century. It was later overcome by the Poliania and slowly lost its territory and most of its control to Poliania for a period of several centuries. It took advantage of Amathian instablity to conquer a portion of the western Amathia, but soon was conquered by them. Following a popular uprising at the end of the Great War, it became independent again. As a newly formed Republic, it remained dysfunctional and economically stagnant for a few years under the bickering of partisan politics, until the hero of the independence movement, General Simeon Kovachev, launched a bloodless coup and took control. He advocated for a strong central presidency, and the establishment of one party, the National Unity Party, which maintained a strong use of order, social conservatism, Sotrian moralism, anti-partisanship and national unification. The government stabilized, and policies soon were put in place to help keep the regime. The country was able to develop technologically and economically, and had a long period of political stability, with the National Unity party winning the elections by wide margins, by both popularity but also by some underhanded means and restrictions on opposition. The Kovachev family has dominated the politics of Tengaria for decades; the current President, Teodora, the Great Granddaughter of Simeon, has lead the country since the death of her father.

Military Overview: As a military man, the Kovachevs have focused on maintaining a strong standing army to protect their interests and to better have a hold over Tengaria. However, the armed forces are not as technologically advanced as other powers, Tengaria does invest serious resources into its defense budget.

Social views:
  • General population's view on LGBT+ rights/LGBT+ people: Homosexual unions are not recognized by the government, but there is no legislation against homosexual behavior or acts. However, it is frowned upon by many in the population. A vocal minority agitates for more rights recognition.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Other religions are tolerated, but the official state religion is Episemialist. Most of the religious population views the minority religion of Iconoclasm as heresy and the Uniate Catholics as traitors. As such, the Uniate Catholics and the Iconoclasts often unite in opposition to get more recognition in the government.
  • General population's view on atheism: Atheism is allowed, but not promoted in any way. Most of the religious population frowns upon atheism, and the government's religious values strongly discourages atheism as well.
  • General population's view on abortion: Abortion is illegal in all circumstances. The socially conservative population and the government are both strongly against it, although a vocal minority advocates for it as well.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): There is still some lingering resentment against the remaining Poliarians who ruled had over Tengaria for centuries; in addition, many locals have a dislike for the Tuathan, whom they view as interlopers and vagrants.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation: Prejudices against the religious and ethnic minorities, but also against major cultural or social dissidents, also against the socially progressive movements in the politics. Those who try and agitate for more progressive movements find enacting change difficult with the stubborn population.
  • View on immigration into country: There are no special restrictions on immigration, but one mus become a naturalized citizen requires time and effort. Loyalty to the government and the regime is necessary to become a citizen.
  • Women's Rights: Women posses the same rights as men- they can vote, hold property, and have no formal restrictions placed upon them- but there is no special legislation about the inclusion of women. They tend to take more traditional feminine roles based on societal expectation. The vast majority of government officials are men. There are exceptions- the current President is a woman, but this is in great part because of her family connections.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs:Alcohol is legal and commonly spread. Tobacco and other drugs are legal, but are very heavily regulated, taxed and hard to get, with the government making large amounts of money on those who would use these substances.

  • Factbook: Some other projects- My old Kylaris country (, a current one on another project (
  • RP Preferences: Worldbuilding. News broadcasts in terms of RP.
  • RP Samples: (Two posts on this page, most of the way down)
  • RP Intentions: Mainly worldbuilding. I will roleplay as much as I can, but I don't think I will have a lot of access to NationStates in the upcoming months.
  • Primary/Other NS Nations: Imperii Ecclesia is my main nation, I'll reactivate my other one (Traditum) for Kylaris.
  • Any troubles with moderation? (If so, a link, please.): Not that I'm aware of.
  • Discord username (in the USERNAME#0000 format): Deus_Vult#9488
  • Anything else?: I'm always happy to work with the Lore Advisors and the mod team to fix anything you want me too! Tell me what to change, and I'll try my best.

It has been ruled by the Taishi, meaning emperor, since it's many tribes were united in the 1600s by the first Taishi, Magnai. The nation was once a nomadic people that lived on the mountainous terrain of Ezenai. The nation became more centralized but was a tributary state of the Aguda Empire until the 18th century.

Their population rapidly expanded in the 17th and 18th centuries, . Bor Natchin Taishi, the third ruler of the nation, would begin short expansionist wars on their neighbors. In 1778, Arsi Taihu, was the fourth leader of Ezenai, she would start a war known as Arsi's War, and form an empire spanning southeast Coius, but it was short lived. Political issues arose at the end of the rule of Arsi, the first and only female empress of Ezenai. The succession of her throne was put into question as she insisted her favorite cousin, Khachar, take over, but he was not the first born and the heir apparent, Loratso, would take over, this angered Arsi. She would ally with much of the army, who had hated Loratso for his anti-expansionist mindset, and would burn down the capital and kill Loratso, securing Khachar's rule as Taishi. Khachar would go on to continue Arsi's War. During Khachar's rule, he would recognize the advancement of Gaullica's forces as they began to make more colonies across the globe, this led to modernization period in Ezenai and their culture started to become less nomadic.

During the time of the grand war, they would side with the Grand Alliance but were swiftly conquered by the Entente forces. Leader Ulan Taishi would be exiled out of the nation during the war, but his younger brother, Yagnai, would claim himself as Taishi and rule an Entente puppet state called the Imperial Nation of Ezenai during the war. The nation would be liberated and Ulan Taishi would return back to power. Ulan's son, Tokhtam Taishi, supported democracy and the nation being less Isolationist. During his rule he created a constitution that would create a parliament and prime minister. This would officially make Ezenai a constitutional monarchy. Today, there is conflict over the power of the Taishi as over the years, parliament has stripped away more and more of his authority. Khaidu Taishi, current emperor, has been in a bitter battle with parliament since his enthronement in 2002.

Ezenaian culture originated as nomadic and very decentralized. Their people were like this for much of their history up until the founding of the Dominion of Ezenai. They became more modern and westernized after this, but they still keep many traditions of the nomadic culture that they once were. Their nation is very homogenous as over 90% of the nation is Ezenaian. Badi is the central religion of the Ezenaian after they moved from Ezenai Shamanism during the 5th century, it influences much of their culture and symbolism. The people of Ezenai are very patriotic and conservative. In Ezenai, many civil rights issues still exist for lgbtq+ groups and women. The nation's geography is prodominanty mountainous and cold desert in the interior of the country while the eastern side is mostly steppe plains and forest.

Military Overview: The Dominion's Armed Forces, has a total amount of 720,000 Active personnel and around 350,000 in reserves. Their military is somewhat modern but not as powerful as other Coian nations. The rest of the military is fairly generic but modern and is able to keep other nations off of their land.

Social views:
  • General population's view on LGBT+ rights/LGBT+ people: Homosexuality is legal but marriage is forbidden, many members of the Lgbt community are persecuted in all parts of the Dominion as the nation is very traditional
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Freedom of religion is granted, but the state religion is Badi and they have lots of prejudice towards other religious groups
  • General population's view on atheism: Atheism has become more popular in recent years among the population, including in the royal family. Freedom of Religion allows atheism to exist and atheism is accepted among most Ezenaians.
  • General population's view on abortion: Abortion is completely illegal in all of the Dominion and the law of Ezenai gives any attempt at an abortion extreme punishment, including the death penalty.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): The Ezenaians are very nationalist and have lots of prejudice against small ethnicities
  • Any big prejudices in your nation: Prejudice against any minority is not unheard of in Ezenai
  • View on immigration into country: The nation has a very strict immigration policy but will still allow most people into the nation, although a stigma against immigrants is prevelant.
  • Women's Rights: Women today will still serve many traditional gender roles, but the consitution allows women the same rights as men and infact women are highly successful in Ezenai.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Tobacco, alcohol, and pot are legal, most other drugs are illegal such as Cocaine, Heroin, or Meth.

National information
Official Name: Federation of Sublustria
Shortened Name: Sublustria
Requested Location:

Requested Population: ~650 000 - 1 000 000
Culture: The federation of Sublustria is a culturally diverse nation with a plethora of native Sublustrian cultures with considerable Euclean (mainly Estmerish and Gaullican) influence
  • Ethnicity: The largest native groups are the Mihinga (Tongan), Mailu (Hawaiian), Nahea (Tahitian) and Ma'uga (Samoan) with considerable Euclean and mixed populations as well
  • Religion: The largest religion is Solarianism with a considerable atheist population as well. Traditional Sublustrian religions are still practised though they are seen as more cultural than religious
  • Languages: Sublustrian languages are spoken by the majority of the population with Gaullican and Estmerish having some significant communities. Gaullican is used as the lingua franca
Government Type: Federal parliamentary republic
Head of State: President Kaulana Keō
Head of Government: -
Requested GDP Per Capita: ~$15 000
National Overview: In 800 BC the islands of Sublustria were settled by speakers of !austroasiatic languages who after settling on the island would develop their own distinct cultures and languages. Sublustria would see some thallassocratic empires/kingdoms form throughout its history. First contact with the Eucleans happened in 1628 and following contact with Eucleans would lead to the spread of several diseases that would decimate the native populations of Sublustria leaving them unable to resist Euclean conquest. Out of these conquests Gaullica would receive the lion's share with Werania becoming the second most influential nation. The Euclean colonisers would go on to spread their religion, language and culture throughout Sublustria often toppling many local kingdoms/chiefdoms in doing so. Following the Great War, Gaullican Sublustria would be divided into the Weranian and Estmerish Mandates of Subustria. In the aftermath of the Great War, desire for a Sublustria free from Euclean control grew significantly with the Congress of Sublustria held in 1939 where a federal model was agreed on. Later in 1944, Estmerish Sublustrian territories and Mandate became indipendent and formed the Federation of Sublustria. Following Weranian decolonisation in the 1950s a part of the Weranian mandate and Sblustrian territories would join the federation largely for economic reasons and cultural ties. The federation of Sublustria is organized on the basis of island representation where every island in Sublustria has a voice in its internal matters. Its biggest political questions revolve around different schemes for economic growth and climate change.

Military Overview: The Federation of Sublustria has a very small navy and is far from a military power of any kind. Internationally the federation acts as a voice for Sublustria and actively calls for action against climate change as it is one of the nations most at risk.

Social views:
  • General population's view on LGBT+ rights/LGBT+ people: Overall progressive with the federal government protecting LGBT+ people through laws, however some more conservative parts of Sublustria are still against it.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Due to Sublustria being religiously diverse, other reliligions are also accepted with religion being viewed as a private matter.
  • General population's view on atheism: A large portion of the population identifies itself as atheist and the state is secular.
  • General population's view on abortion: No legislation exists on abortion.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Mostly accepting
  • Any big prejudices in your nation: Some, especially the older generations, harbour anti-Euclean sentiment
  • View on immigration into country: Immigration into Sublustria is open with assimilation into one of the federation's cultures being a requirement
  • Women's Rights: Although traditional gender roles exist, they are no longer considered mandatory
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs:Tobacco/alcohol/pot are legal while hard drugs are illegal.

Kuthiamat/Siathina is intended to replace Tinza, as per discussions with Calt and others.

National information
Official Name: Kingdom of Kuthina
Shortened Name: Kuthina
Requested Location: In yellow
Requested Population: 81,653,237
Culture: Both Kuthina and Siamat are largely based off of South-East Asian cultures, albeit with a far greater Sinitic influence than Indian. Kuthina is mainly based off of the Thai peoples, though it is multicultural and they only make up a slight majority. Via Badi there is likely a good deal of Dezevauan influence, culturally and linguistically.
  • Ethnicity: Predominantly Thai, also Shan, Mon, Khmer, Burmese. Check IIwiki for percentages.
  • Religion: Predominantly Badi, with minority traditional religions and Sotirianity
  • Languages: Thai is the official language, while other languages have recognition at certain regional levels.
Government Type: Unitary semi-constitutional monarchy
Head of State: King Tai Srisantisuk
Head of Government: Premier Kanok Devakula
Requested GDP Per Capita: $19,356 PPP, $9,734 nominal
National Overview: History
Everything pre-modern is tbd. In the late 19th century Kuthina likely became a battleground between Xiaodong and the East for influence, with the former likely winning out until the end of the GW. Likely in the East's sphere for some decades afterwards, until it became an important and relatively reliable anti-ROSPO regional partner for said nations. Union with Tava when it became independent ~1950s. Has fought several skirmishes with Xiaodong and Siamat, largely due to it hosting Chanwan and Kasine rebel groups. At some point in the near past it lost Hejiang to Xiaodong. Future events tentatively planned with Mari.

All very tbd, but it's a system that has created numerous grand coalitions and favours broad blocs. There is some minor influencing by the royal family, and the monarch still plays a role in actively choosing the premier (who can often be a compromise pick), vetoing legislation, etc.

Aligned with Comsed and the East in terms of being anti-ROSPO. Relations with Xiaodong have always been generally tense, though there have been a few periods of detente and uneasy co-existence. In recent years relations have severely deteriorated. Likely strong bilateral relations with Senria.

Military Overview: Not really a milsperger, so this'll be succinct and I'm open to any changes needed. Likely a large armed forces, occupying a sizeable portion of the GDP allocation, reliant on Senrian and Eastern support and equipment. Domestically likely fills a gendarmerie role as well, and counters any hostile Chanwam and Svai terrorism. Regionally it is geared towards defending against Xiaodong and Siamat.

Social views:
  • General population's view on LGBT+ rights/LGBT+ people: LGBT+ rights are protected by law since the 60s, same-sex unions are recognised but lack the same legal protections as opposite-sex couples. No adoption or family rights, gender transitioning is legally unrecognised, though it is often socially accepted, and military service for all LGBT+ allowed since 2011, with LGB being eligible since 2001.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Long-standing syncretism between Badi and native religions means there is generally a relaxed attitude towards religion. Sotirianity is viewed slightly negatively due to association with Siamat, but nothing major.
  • General population's view on atheism: Legal protection for all religions, including lack thereof. Societally a bit taboo, but nothing major and slowly becoming less so. No option on census, so many identify as 'culturally' religious.
  • General population's view on abortion: Probably one of the most contentious political and societal issues, abortion is currently illegal with exception for maternal life, health and/or mental health, and for rape or abuse. Societal views are slowly changing, with pro-choice gaining in strength, but it'll likely be some time before any changes happen.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Generally peaceable, though tense relations exist between Kasine and Svai. There are also tensions between the groups and refugee Chanwan in urban areas, likely similar to the situation between Palestinians and locals in Jordan and Lebanon.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation: Largest one is likely against the Svai and Xiaodongese, seen as 'agents' and such for Siamat and Xiaodong respectively. Chanwan in urban areas are largely seen as being unassimilated, and are often accused of various things.
  • View on immigration into country: Large refugee/migrant programs for the Chanwan has seen a rise in anti-immigration feeling, particularly in northern Kuthina.
  • Women's Rights: Legally entitled to equal protections to men, in reality similar to IRL problems of wage gaps, harassment and lack of law enforcement for their rights, etc.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Tobacco and alcohol legal, with more relaxed laws than most Eastern nations. Hard criminalisation for pretty much all non-medicinal drugs.

National information
Official Name: Republic of Siamat
Shortened Name: Siamat
Requested Location: In blue
Requested Population: 36,564,398
Culture: Both Kuthina and Siamat are largely based off of South-East Asian cultures, albeit with a far greater Sinitic influence than Indian. Siamat is largely Khmer, though there is a large Shan minority (who identify as Kasine), and a growing Xiaodongese minority. Via Badi there is likely a good deal of Dezevauan influence, culturally and linguistically, and Gaullican influence is still keenly felt via Sotirianity, and the language being present and actively taught.
  • Ethnicity: Khmer, Shan (+Thai), Mon, Xiaodongese, other minority groups. Percentages are on the IIwiki.
  • Religion: No dominant religion, with Sotirianity and Badi together making up about 60%. The rest is Salvationism, which is an umbrella term for new modern religious movements which usually syncretise Sotirian and Badi elements, which has grown rapidly since the 80s. Traditional religions also exist, though delineating between them and Badi, and even Sotirianity, can be difficult.
  • Languages: Khmer is the official language. Xiaodongese is recognised in several municipalities, and provisions are made for legal assistance in it. Mon is recognised in several regions. Gaullican is not recognised as an official language, but it remains strong at the political level, and it is mandatory as a subject.
Government Type: Unitary semi-presidential dominant-party republic
Head of State: President Fabien Nhean
Head of Government: Premier Lim Chanthou
Requested GDP Per Capita: $11,066 PPP, $4,740 nominal
National Overview: History
Everything pre-modern is tbd. Sometime in the 19th century the nation is colonised by Gaullica. After the Great War it is given over as a mandate to either Werania or Estmere. Eventually later it gains independence. Short period of struggle between the monarch and having a genuine democracy, until a Xiaodongese-supported party sweeps to power and abolishes the monarchy. Over time line between the party and state apparatus has become largely blurred. Recent issue is largely over whether the party will follow Yuanism and tow Xiaodong's line. Current president is at odds with his party over the issue, and has not been selected for re-election, and intends to fight it as an independent.

A dominant-party since since 19??, the x party are modelled after Xiaodong's ideology of National Principlism. The main political issue of the day is whether to follow 'Yuanism', or reject it in favour of a more Siamati version of National Principlism.

Is ROSPO-aligned, with strong bilateral relations with Xiaodong with which it relies on for trade, military assistance, and aid. R

Military Overview: Likely a large armed forces, occupying a sizeable portion of the GDP allocation, reliant on Xiaodongese support and equipment. Regionally it is geared towards defending against Kuthina, though military doctrine largely revolves around supporting any Xiaodongese offensive or defensive. Corruption, political interference, and nepotism within the military has left it relatively weak.

Social views:
  • General population's view on LGBT+ rights/LGBT+ people: Same-sex activity is legal, same-sex unions are unrecognised. No adoption or family rights, gender transitioning is legally unrecognised, and differs in acceptance between followers of Badi and Sotirianity/Salvationistism, and no open military service for all LGBT+.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: The government takes a strict secular stance, requiring all civil servants to remain religiously unaffiliated. There are tensions between Badi, Sotirians, and Salvationists, but nothing major.
  • General population's view on atheism: Legal protection for all religions, including lack thereof. Societally a bit taboo, but nothing major and slowly becoming less so.
  • General population's view on abortion: Legal for maternal life, health, mental health, rape and/or fetal defects, and also for limited socioeconomic factors. Societally it's a contentious topic, with many women pressured against it and little done by the government to provide adequate support.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Tense relations between the Svai and Kasine, but nothing too major. Disturbances tend to be in urban areas and the capital, where there is more cultural mixing.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation: Largest one is likely against the Kasine, seen as 'agents' and such for Kuthina. Xiaodongese are sometimes portrayed in a negative light, either as migrants taking jobs, or as the wealthy and rich draining Siamat of resources.
  • View on immigration into country: There isn't a huge amount of immigration. Some annoyance over the increasing Xiaodongese population, but nothing major.
  • Women's Rights: Legally entitled to equal protections to men, in reality similar to IRL problems of wage gaps, harassment and lack of law enforcement for their rights, etc.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Tobacco and alcohol legal. Hard criminalisation for pretty much all non-medicinal drugs.

National information
Official Name: Te-Kupenga-a-Tūmatauenga (Meridian Islands)
Shortened Name: Te-Kupenga-a-Tūmatauenga (Meridian Islands)
Requested Location:

Requested Population: 100,000 odd
Culture: Maori, with Gaullican instead of English influences from colonialisation
  • Ethnicity: Hau Kāinga (Maori), Tauiwi (Eucleans, primarily Gaullican)
  • Religion: Te-Ara-A-Io, a highly syncretic form of Sotirianity (think voodoo) is widely practiced. Sotirianity, particularly charismatic churches are also widespread.
  • Languages: Te Reo Haukāinga, Gaullican
Government Type: Constitutional monarchy with a dominant party parliamentary system
Head of State: Ariki Tapairu (Paramount Chief) Te Moungaroa
Head of Government: Premier Hinekapea
Requested GDP Per Capita: $12,000 odd
National Overview: According to legend, the Meridian Islands are the net of Tūmatauenga, the god of hunting and fishing, with which he attempted to fish up the great shoal (Te-Ranga-Ika-Nui, the Te Reo Haukāinga name for Sublustria). Tangaroa, the god of the sea, was afraid that Tūmatauenga was close to succeeding and so he begged Papatūānuku, the earth mother, to stop him. Papatūānuku turned Tūmatauenga's net into stone, forming the islands, but in the process turned many of the fish into islands as well. Archaeological traces put the settlement of the Meridian Islands to the early eighth century BCE by !Austroasiatic settlers from somewhere in eastern coius. These peoples would form small tribal groupings centred on the Marae, a type of communal settlement that doubled as a religious centre. These would eventually develop into Pā, fortified Marae. There was no development of a communal identity, instead people identified with their Hapū (tribe) and Iwi, larger confederations of Hapū based upon geneology and alliances. Euclean contact began in the 17th century and would continue, first on a basis of trade before progressing towards more overt domination by traders. Seeing this as a threat, the Ariki (Iwi leaders) convened at Kōuranui Pā to decide upon a united plan. They opted to elect a leader, the Ariki Tapairu, who would represent them in their dealings with Eucleans. The first Ariki Tapairu was Tamatea of Ngāti Mahuta, who opted to sign an agreement of protection with Gaullica. Under the Kaitangata Accord, named after the village of Kaitangata which was the site of negotiations, Gaullican merchants would be granted exclusive access to the islands in return for a recognition of the authority and guardianship of the natives and for protection against other Euclean powers. This agreement led to Gaullican permanent settlement of the islands, which were called the Meridian Islands by the Eucleans. While relations between the natives and eucleans started in good faith, the Eucleans would eventually begin to exert more direct control over land and resources. During the functionalist era, the Kaitangata Accord was almost completely ignored. Following the great war, the Meridian Islands were granted as a mandate territory of Werania. Independence was led by Maxime Arutanga, an educated native lawyer, who presented the case that under the Kaitangata Accord, the Meridian Islands had been a dominion of the Gaullican crown and with it's abolition they were independent. Independence was achieved in 1940. While Meridian representatives were present at the Congress of Sublustria, due to political differences surrounding the roles of traditional nobility the Meridian Islands would never join the Federation of Sublustria. In the modern era, Te-Kupenga-a-Tūmatauenga is a developing nation. It has strong ties with Euclea and Asteria, though local corruption and nepotism in politics have held back economic development.
Military Overview: The military of Te-Kupenga-a-Tūmatauenga is composed of an armed gendarmerie and small navy, with the nation somewhat dependent on its location as a military port for Gaullica (can be swapped to Estmere/Werania if needed) for naval patrols.

Social views:
  • General population's view on LGBT+ rights/LGBT+ people: Despite the existence of Takatāpui, a native concept of third gender/same sex relationships, the rise of sotirianity has led to a growing hostility towards LGBT rights. Gay marriage is not recognised, though same sex sexual activity is legal.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: As a relatively religiously pluralistic society, attitudes towards other religions have historically been positive. However, the rise of evangelical Sotirianity has led to some intolerance.
  • General population's view on atheism: While legal, Atheism is highly stigmatised as faith is seen as a core national concept.
  • General population's view on abortion: Abortion is illegal and highy stigmatised.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Race relations between Hau Kāinga and Tauiwi are mostly positive, and immigrants are generally accepted.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation: None other than those already mentioned
  • View on immigration into country: Immigration is rare, but accepted enthousiastically
  • Women's Rights: Women and men share the same legal rights, and though there are highly present gender roles in terms of caring for the family and combat, both women and men are eligible for leadership positions.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs:
Tobacco and alcohol are widespread, as is cannibis. Harder drugs are rarer and illegal.

National information
Official Name: Kirenian Council Republic (Kiireriik Volikogu Vabariik)
Shortened Name: Kirenia (Kiireriik)
Requested Location: The former Swetanian spot; excepting this part
Requested Population: Approximately 50,000,000
Culture: Kirenian culture (which is based on that of Estonia) is most significantly identified by the nation’s status as one of the few extant socialist states in the world; for the most part, a source of pride and unity for its citizens. In some respects, it maintains past traditions — particularly of a maritime variety — but these are observed to much less of an extent. Additionally, its status as !Uralic, instead of !Indo-European, has influenced the nation historically and resulted in the feeling of a “fight for survival” amongst other Euclean nations; this has frequently been cited as a reason for the long-term success of the volikogu mõte ideology.
  • Ethnicity: Kirenian (Estonians) comprise a large majority of the nation. Minorities along the borders of neighbouring nations are common; Weranian and Ruttish communities make up the greatest portion of these groups because of their historical ties to Kirenia. Additionally, small Savader minorities are present across the country, notably in the north and east.
  • Religion: The majority of the population is irreligious, in accordance with the policy of state secularism, although Sotiranity (particularly Solarian Catholicism) still has a large number of adherents in mainstream society.
  • Languages: Kirenian (Standard Estonian) is the sole official language and is spoken by the majority of the population. Formerly, Weranian served as the language of polite society, but this usage swiftly declined after the War of the Triple Alliance.
Government Type: Constitutionally-socialist council republic
Head of State: Suur Volikogu
Head of Government: Suur Volikogu
Requested GDP Per Capita: Similar to the existing Swetanian figures; approximately $40,000 for the nominal value and $48,000 for the PPP
National Overview:

Like its Liidurian inspiration, early Kirenian history is heavily focused on the formation and proliferation of the “Maritime Guild” (roughly equivalent to the Hanseatic League) across northern Euclea. The Guild clashed with the North Sea Empires in Solstiana and Caldia, competing for influence amongst the states of the Rudolphine Confederation and seeking to solidify its primacy in maritime affairs. Eventually, the influence of the Guild dwindled and the emergent centralised monarchy in the capital sought bigger fish; after the Weranian Revolution and the dissolution of the Confederation, Ruttland was annexed by Kirenia. However, this represented the peak of the monarchy’s power; soon afterwards, Kirenian defeat in the War of the Triple Alliance saw a series of territorial and economic losses for the kingdom, and a period as the “sick man of Euclea” from which it never really recovered.

Following the Great Collapse and other difficulties faced in the early 20th century, the popularity of the monarch was at an all-time low. The April Revolution was triggered after the abdication of Juhan VII, with the central government collapsing quickly and initiating the Verised Päevad (lit. “bloody days”, in which conflict between factions from all sides came into conflict with one another. Ultimately, the idea of volikogu mõte (lit. “council thought”, or “the idea of a council”) prevailed against other ideologies during the transitional period, with collaboration between other revolutionary groups allowing them to emerge as the most powerful prospective government in the post-April Revolution political climate.

The success of the revolution saw a radical transformation from the centralised autocratic state to an expressly worker-focused — albeit often unstable — socialist state. Although the nascent republic entered the Great War on good terms with the Grand Alliance, its relationship with other Euclean powers quickly deteriorated after the defeat of Gaullica and the Entente. The suspicion on both sides culminated in the Kirenian-Weranian War, pitting Kirenia and its East Miersan ally against Werania and Estmere and once again solidifying Kirenia as a potent force in Euclea.

It supported the establishment of the Miersan Socialist Republic as part of the Godfredson Plan, opposing the Narozalic-backed Miersan Federation. Unease with Narozalica and Samorspi has continued into the 21st century, with Kirenia tentatively exploring a closer relationship with the Euclean Community as a result. Kirenia still forms an integral part of MASSOR — along with its Aimilian and East Miersan compatriots — and as a member of the AIS, serves as one of the foremost socialist powers in the Great Game. Internationally, it places an emphasis on protecting the interests of fellow socialist or generally left-leaning countries around the world.

Military Overview: In terms of hard power, Kirenia maintains an inherent naval tradition (probably from the time of the Guild) — perhaps fielding an aircraft carrier — but the use of its navy is heavily limited to defensive contexts; conversely, its army and air force have a much greater emphasis placed upon them by the government. Kirenia possesses nuclear capabilities, and is also one of the seven states permitted by the Community of Nations to do so. Additionally, Kirenia possesses a large degree of soft power projection as the perceived “homeland” of socialism in the world.

Social views:
  • General population's view on LGBT+ rights/LGBT+ people: The rights and freedoms of LGBT+ people are guaranteed by law, with marriage equality probably instituted quite early on amongst other Euclean nations.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: There are no laws prohibiting adherence to any particular region. However, talking about religion publicly — particularly in politics — is heavily frowned upon; religion and faith is viewed as a strictly private affair, in line with state policy.
  • General population's view on atheism: The government has officially endorsed state secularism since the 1920s, and a majority of Kirenians identify as irreligious in 2020.
  • General population's view on abortion: Also guaranteed by law; once again, likely permitted well before other countries after the shift in the status quo following the Revolution.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): The existing minority populations from nearby nations face very little adversity within Kirenia; while other ethnicities are generally accepted, they may be viewed in a more negative light than the "core" ethnicities.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation: Similar to what was outlined for Swetania; anything that is expressly contrary to — or acts to eliminate — volikogu mõte is viewed in a very negative light.
  • View on immigration into country: Generally accepted, but biases against immigrants (particularly towards those who come from expressly anti-socialist or reactionary countries) play a significant role in Kirenian society.
  • Women's Rights: The April Revolution saw a vast improvement in women’s rights from the period of the monarchy, and which have been maintained ever since.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Alcohol is legal, and cannabis is on the road to legalisation; everything else is prohibited, and hefty penalties apply for violating restrictions.

National information
Official Name: The Military Republic Of Birat-Greznea
Shortened Name: Birat-Greznea, Birat
Requested Location: X on the new map
Requested Population: 85,250,800
Culture: The cultural heritage of the Birati ethnic peoples and the Greznean peoples has largely been lost to time, having been worn away slowly by ceaseless warfare within its own borders and with its neighbors. The modern day culture of the many ethnic groups within the borders of Birat is largely that of a rump state reduced to ashes through war, largely a mix of other cultures such as Arabic and Turkish-based cultures, with no specific culture to name as its own.
  • Ethnicity: The primary ethnicity in Birat is Birati, with the close secondary being Greznean. Many other ethnicities such as the Jabari, Bosian, and Arokan live within the borders as well.
  • Religion: although religion is tolerated, there is no central religion within Birat-Greznea, as the government of the country much prefers the values of meritocracy than those of religious belief.
  • Languages: The main languages spoken in Birat are Birati and Greznean, with Greznean being the most spoken of the two by a landslide.
Government Type:
the Military Republic is largely governed currently by a provisional military government set up after the recent seizure of control by the more capable Greznean minority living in the northern regions of the country. This military government holds a heavy focus on meritocratic values, and often bars members from practice unless they maintain their skills after they are approved for office.

Head of State: Strategos Adez Imam
Head of Government: Substrategos Uzollah Hej
Requested GDP Per Capita: $1,2288 NSD
National Overview:

Birat was born from the ashes of a fallen kingdom in the 1950s, after foreign intervention and influence supported the Birati-Greznean revolution of 1956, and successfully funded a coup which replaced the monarchy. The nation then promptly fell into a period of systematic civil war after the newly installed ruler failed to stabilize Birat’s economy, leading to mass economic fallout as civilians and militias tore the country apart while trying to secure their own territories to try their hand at fixing the issue. International interventions and peacekeeping forces sent by the CoN failed to sustain any semblance of peace within the nation but soon, in 2011, the nation finally found peace after the Greznean half of the failing Republic took control with their own paramilitary, the RKD, and established a provisional government in the city of Pogoren. Fighting continues to the present day with the various organized militias and rebellious forces located all across Birat-Greznea, but the northern regions such as Greznea, Zhagreph, and Basul still remain intact and controlled by the RKD.

Military Overview: the RKD is a largely land-based paramilitary force consisting of about 170,000 infantry fighters and 200 armored vehicles, along with various support elements and a fledging airforce composed largely of foreign-provided CAS gunships and air superiority jets that are outdated and no longer in major service internationally. The RKD also possesses several military bases and two major airbases within their own region, and use the Basul-Rodea International Airport As their main logistical hub. The RKD holds a lot of funding and good supply sections thanks to the successful deterrents that prevented the militias from plaguing Basul and the other Greznean regions.

Social views:
  • General population's view on LGBT+ rights/LGBT+ people:
The general populous could not care less about the LGBT+ movements and rights, as what kind of person you’re into is not very important compared to the very dangerous war going on.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one:
As the only religions in Birat are those practiced privately, opinions vary based on personal belief.
  • General population's view on atheism:
Most people are atheist, so they are fine with it.
  • General population's view on abortion:
As the population stagnates in Greznea because of the constant death of soldiers in warfare, many people are against abortion. Women are seen as having a very important job now, especially as baby factories, aside from working actual factories and taking care of the home.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s):
There are so many in Birat alone that some of them don’t even notice the others.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation:
Many against females who attempt to fight. They believe that those who can should be giving birth to as many children as they can, and so women are forbidden from getting near the battlefield as every woman lost is less children to balance out the mortality rate of war.
  • View on immigration into country:
Welcome and worshipped, to say. Immigration means more people.
  • Women's Rights:
    Refer to the prejudices paragraph.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs:
If you’d like to take it, go ahead. Long as you can do your duty, we don’t care.

  • Factbook: not yet
  • RP Preferences: Whichever I can actually participate in
  • RP Samples: Check for the nation Estoca in the Meillur News Network.

  • Languages: The Majority landuage is Satavian (a creole of Estmerish and Hennish), at roughly 72% (first language), with the next being Estmerish at about 11% first langauge. Due to the simmilarity of Satavian and Hennish, Hennish is not taught nor is it an official language. Satavian does share a lot of simmilarities with Estmerish, also an official language. Other minority languages include Native ones, such as Ma'swa and Tuz'wahli'an.

Government Type: Democratic Parliamentry Presidential Federal Republic
Head of State: Johan de Vilock
Head of Government: Also head of State.

Requested GDP Per Capita: ~21,000 Satavian Guilders (SAT)
National Overview: This is slightly outdated - I have notes on my phone, which will be released with an IIWiki Page.
Early Colonisation Period:
First settled by the Dutch Explorer, Jan van Breyetenbach, he established a colony on the Eastern Tip of the Island, naming it ‘Hoopstad’ or, in Estmerish ‘Hopetown’. The name ‘Hoop’ comes from the River Hoop, the longest river in Satavia. In the early colonisation period, settlers would grow there best crops along the banks of the river, including growing a lot of grape vines, many of which still produce wine and grapes today. In 1747, following Hennehouwe’s loss in the Estmerish-Hennish war, the seven colonies that made up the Hoop Kolonie, along with Nuvania, were seeded to Estmere Slavery was also banned, but would continue on for about ten more years.. Large amounts of Estmerish Settlers and colonial administrators arrived in the newly re-names Hope Colony with the prospect of a New Life. Many would go onto grow grape vines and produce Wine, Satavia’s main export. The interior of the island was native country - and the Satavian settlers wouldn’t dare enter it. That all changed when Sir Charles Allistar, commander of all military forces throughout the Hope Colony, ordered an expedition in land to strengthen control over the areas, which directly lead to military forces taking natives and so began the systematic oppression of the native population. Many now believe he was attempting to incite a confrontation with the natives, which he did. The Natives fired upon the company which lead to the systematic killing of all natives seen by the military, often referred to as ‘Roynecks’ by the local Hennish population (a compound multi-language word meaning Red Necks, alluding to the Estmerish soldiers, whose skin was not suited to the hot climate and so often burned). This controversial policy, now considered a precursor to the ‘White Satavia’ policy, lead to a serious cultural devise between the Hennish and the Natives, who had previously gotten along fine. In 1816, Home Rule was granted to the Hope Colony, under the Hopetown Agreement. Following the War of the Arucian, the Hope Colony declared independence. After several treaties with Estmere, which included the ruinous ‘Loss of Profit’ clause, which resulted in ‘the cost of 15,000 shillings’, which, for a new nation was a large sum of money. Independence was finally granted upon the last shilling being paid and at 23:59 on the 31st December, 1899 Estmerish rule in Newly-christened Satavia (after Sátiva, a personal name used by the largest native tribe, the Muisca), and the wider Asterian Region, came to an end.

20th Century:
The newly established state was plagued with problems - infighting, financial insecurity and the looming threat posed by other powers. None of this was helped during the Great Collapse that saw an already struggling Government brought to it’s knees. In 1919, with the export-based economy still reeling from the effects of the crash, the government even seriously considered sending a diplomatic request to the Estmerish government for unilateral annexation. This, however, was dropped due to a lack of support by the populace. Needing a scapegoat, the government (run by the Hennish-Estmerish majority) blames the native minority and began a policy called ‘White Satavia’. This controversial policy saw natives being barred civil rights and, in some cases, basic human rights. It’s estimated that during the policy up to 5 per cent of the native population died due to starvation and dehydration (the military would burn fields and poison wells, and in retaliation the natives would blow up military conflicts), although this was quite rare.

[enter Great War, but I don’t know who we fought for so I’m just going to leave it blank]

In the post-war period, the policy of White Satvia continued up until the late 1960s, when various human rights groups and neighbouring government’s applied pressure on the Satavian government to end the policy. The Satavian President at the time, Dirk van Dejir, responded by travelling around the interior of the country touring native villages. This elaborate bluff fooled no one and in 1974, he was voted out of power by his own party, due to the controversy he created. A general election was called which saw a long time champion of native rights, Johan van de Westhassen, become president. The first act passed into law was the ‘Native (Rights and Representation) Act’. In 2010, van de Westhassen became Satavia’s best Satavian in an online poll answered by nearly half a million Satavians. In recent years, the representation of the Gowsa minority has been a controversial topic, due to the lack of it.

Military Overview:
Army: 32,000 men and women (Active), with 42 functioning Main Battle Tanks.
Navy: 48 Ships, with roughly 16,000 personnel.
Air Force: 3 Squadrons, 1 Squadron Reserve

[For Perspective, I looked at the Australian Defence Forces, who were a similar size]

Social views:
  • General population's view on LGBT+ rights/LGBT+ people: LGBT+ people enjoy total equality and support from the populace as a whole. Obviously, it really differs from province to province. The only exception is Den Haagien Province, where Same-Sex relationships are illegal by tolerated, and where de jure LGBT+ Community have no rights but de facto have the same rights as non LGBT+ people.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Religious indifference is wide spread. The general consensus is that what religion you are is up to you.
  • General population's view on atheism: See above.
  • General population's view on abortion: Legal up to 27 weeks in 4 of 7 provinces. Growing public pressure on the 3 others to legalise abortion.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): There was a period of Aphartide by the Estmerish minority against the Hennish and Native Majority. Nowadays, what race you are doesn’t matter.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation: Older generations of the White population. dislike the natives and often support re-introduction of the White Satavia Policy.
  • View on immigration into country: By Govt: Welcomed; and by people: mixed (some are avid xenophiles and others are avid xenophobes - depends on the province.
  • Women's Rights: Fully legal and supported
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Tobacco and alcohol are legal 16+ and readily available. Pot is legal in small amounts 18+. Harder drugs are fully illegal and difficult to come by.

  • Factbook:I do have an IIWiki and NS Factbook written from a real world perspective.

Kingdom of Ghasasinah

Postby Komso » Fri Aug 28, 2020 7:48 pm

National information
Official Name: Kingdom of Ghasasinah
Shortened Name: Gassasinia
Requested Location: Northern Badawiya
Requested Population: 15 million
Culture:The Gassasinian population is a diverse mixture of Badawiyan-Sotirian (Arab-Christian) and Badawiyan-Irfani (Arab-Muslim) influences, with a sizeable Atudite(Jewish) minority who share a mixture
of traditions from both Badawiyan and Atuditic backgrounds, along with a native Assonairean population who mainly practice Sotirianity.
  • Badawiyan / Arab: 85%
  • Jewish / Atudite: 10%
  • Arameans / Assonaireans: 5%
  • 61% Muslim / Irfani
  • 27% Christian / Sotirian
  • 10% Jewish / Atudite
  • 2% Atheist
Languages: Badawiyan, Atudite, Estmerish, Syriazi
Government Type: Unitary Parliamentary Constitutional Monarchy
Head of State: King Yousef II bin Al-Hashim
Head of Government: Prime Minister Aviram Machuv
Requested GDP Per Capita: $12,443 (Nominal) $18,491 (PPP)
National Overview: The Kingdom of Ghasasinah has its' origins in early days of Sotirianity, in the 1st Century as Sotirianity spread throughout Badawiyah in the pre-Irfanic period, members of the al-Yaman tribe travelled north to more fertile and mountainous lands, forming the Jabiyah Kingdom under the House of Harith. Ruling for centuries until they were conquered by Irfanis in the 7th Century. Under Irfani rule, Sotirianity was tolerated but they were still treated as second class citizens. Although privilege was hung like a carrot on a stick infront of the Sotirian Gassasinian people, only about a quarter of Gassasinians converted to Irfan.

Eventually, in the 14th Century, Sotirian Gassasinians once more gained independence after the Gassasinian Revolt, which put the House of Harith back on the throne under King Ibrahim II. Throughout the 14th-19th Century, the Gassasinian Kingdom stood as the prime Sotirian power in Badawiya, forcefully converting those who practised Irfan to Sotirianity and upholding numerous Sotirian vassals on their borders. Although officially converted to Sotirianity, many Irfanis continued to practise Irfan in secret, which is to this day memorialised by the Irfani population of Gassasinia. Throughout the history of the Gassasinian Kingdom, they enjoyed strong relations with the Sotirian kingdoms and empires of Euclea, especially Estmere, owing to their proximity.

During the 19th Century, Gassasinia came to be a protectorate of Estmere. Although generally better treated owing to their Sotirian faith, the Irfans of Gassasinia continued to face repression and forced conversions. During the Great War, Gassasinian troops of all faiths and ethnicities fought with Estmerish forces against the forces of Functionalism, and achieved independence as the Estmerish Empire started to decline following the Great War.

Following independence in 1949, the Kingdom of Ghasasinah relaxed its' repressive policies towards the Irfani population, eventually making way for a constitutional monarchy with a functional parliament. Although nominally democratic, in reality the political system of Gassasinia was marred by sectarianism and elitism, as the middle and upper class Sotirian populace used gerrymandering and intimidation to keep the right-wing Sotirian Democratic Party firmly in power. On the other hand, left-wing groups, mainly supported by working-class Irfani and even Sotirians. Inspired by Zorosani Sattarism, Social Democracy and Council Communist ideology, the left-wing opposition opted to using terrorism against the Sotirian political establishment with support from Zorasan. However, in spite of political strife in the country, the Gassasinian economy continued to grow exponentially due to the free market and free trade policies of the Sotirian Democratic Party. However - the supposed "invisible hand" of the free market barely benefitted the working-class Irfani population as Irfanis were systematically discriminated against in education, housing and employment.

Political violence continued escalating up to the mid 1970s when in 1973 the Gassasinian Civil War exploded. Brutal fighting continued on between 1973 and 1975, during which the army managed to push the bulk of guerilla groups from the major cities and into the mountains. Although the civil war for now over, mass discontent continued to plague the nation. However, in 1975, the king was diagnosed with cancer.

Prince Yousef II - a famed reformist educated in Estmere - collected the support of liberal-minded officers and troops in the army, and with the covert help of Estmere's intelligence services, and launched a coup during which the king was removed from power "for his own safety". Sent into exile to Estmere, the king continued to receive medical treatment in Estmere until 1981 when the king died - before which he made one last trip back to his home country to repent his sins during his reign.

Now King Yousef II, although idealistic many remained suspicious of the new king - believing that he was too idealistic to lead. However, King Yousef II quickly dismissed the parliamentary cabinet. Forming a deal with the Labour, Liberal and Conservative parties which gave them equal roles in the Provisional Cabinet that ruled from 1975 to 1979. Throughout the years, King Yousef II became known as a key reformer and mediator in the post-civil war political system, often speaking in favour of Euclean-style liberal economic and social policies as the way forwards.

The three parties of the Provisional Cabinet quickly became the most popular parties in the new Gassasinia, forming the Three Party System which has lead Gassasinia's healthy secular democracy where disagreements are discussed and voted over more often than killed over. Gassasinia had its' first fair General Election in 1979, where a Liberal Party government was elected.

Quickly recovering during the 1970s, the Kingdom of Ghasasinah saw unprecedented exponential growth during the 1980 and 1990's just as it had before the civil war - but this time growth didn't just just benefit the Sotirian elite but also the working classes thanks to an effective system of social welfare, worker's rights laws and well-planned government investment into public programs meant to promote a well-educated populace. For the first time, the Irfanis and the working-class had pride in their king.

Under King Yousef II's rule and the three-party system, modern-day Gassasinia has gone from a war-torn dictatorship to a western-styled liberal democracy, while reducing encouraging reconciliation between the Sotirian and Irfani populace. Today, Gassasinia is notable for being the most developed and free country in Badawiya, with a well-educated populace and a service-focused industrialised economy based on the export of aviation equipment, communications equipment, computer hardware and software, medical equipment, pharmaceuticals, phosphates and the refinery of raw materials. Many of Badawiya's and South Coius' well educated professionals - doctors, engineers, programmers, etcetera - are taught in Gassasinia's prestigious universities. However, even today, Gassasinia still struggles with the economic divide between the Irfani and Sotirian populace, along with general economic inequality - which lead to the 2015 General Election during which the Liberal Party - which was previously the most successful party since the restoration of elections in 1979 - was forced into a coalition government with the growing broad-left wing Labour Party.

Military Overview: The Gassasinian Defence Force is made up of the Royal Gassasinian Army, the Royal Gassasinian Air Force and the Royal Gassasinian Navy. The Gassasinian Defence Force is a well-trained and well-armed - but relatively small - force of 187,500 active-service soldiers with 62,500 reservists. The Gassasinian Defence Force is mainly acquires arms through arms trade with Euclean, North Asteria and South Coius. While generally militarily neutral, the Gassasinian Defence Force is active in peacekeeping contributions. Spending amounts to about 2.5% of the GDP, and the Gassasinian Defence Force is often deployed to the border to ensure security in areas bordering with Tsabara. Local industries are responsible for servicing, upgrading and some production in regards to the military industry, especially in terms of producing spare parts to keep equipment from more unreliable nations well-maintained. While by no means a major arms power, Gassasinian arms industries are well-respected.

Social views:
  • General population's view on LGBT+ rights/LGBT+ people: The general population's views on LGBT+ rights tends to vary depending on political affiliation and urbanisation. More urban centre-leftists generally tend to be openly supportative of LGBT+ rights, whereas more right-wing individuals tend to vary from viewing LGBT+ individuals with disgust, but more recently the right-wing tendency has been to tolerate them provided they stay out of mind and out of sight. In the major urban cities of Gassasinia, being openly gay is generally regarded as acceptable and mostly safe, whereas it is generally expected to keep one's sexuality a private matter in smaller cities and rural areas. In terms of government views, the leading Liberal-Labour government has a policy of allowing for western-style rights and protections for LGBT+ individuals, allowing for civil unions, which while not technically being the same as marriage is practically treated the same way legally, and allowing for one to legally change their gender without surgery.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: In Gassasinia's past, there has been significant strife between the Muslim and Christian populace, due to the fact that the Irfani population
was quickly growing to the point where it eventually came to about match the Sotirian, which the Sotirians viewed as threatening the Sotirian nature of their nation. These tensions reached their peak and exploded in 1980 when the Gassasinian Civil War kicked off, mainly influenced by tensions between rich and poor but also religious tensions, given that the Sotirians were traditionally affluent while the Irfanis were repressed, disenfranchised and exploited for their labour.

Today, while some tensions between Irfan and Sotirianity remain in Gassasinia, owing to sectarian violence in the past, today tensions increasingly aren't between Irfani, Aludite and Sotirian religions but rather more often between moderate and conservative religious views. Today, despite its' past association with the Sotirian Democratic Party, the Conservative Party is popular amongst conservatives of all faiths owing to common social interests. In particular, many conservatives feel that the government discriminates against those with more traditional views due to the past tendency for the Supreme Court's tendency to cut down many of the Conservative Party's past attempts to introduce more socially conservative laws. However, even today, Irfani continue to be disadvantaged in education, employment, earnings and other opportunities and ratings of quality of life.
  • General population's view on atheism: Freedom of religion, including Atheism is strongly protected right within Gassasinia, with strong legal protections against discrimination on the basis of religion as a result of the liberal reforms starting in 1980, and an absence of laws against abandoning one's faith. Atheism has been on the rise amongst the newer generations since the 2000's. However, many more conservative individuals, particularly those living in less urban areas have more suspicious views on atheism, again preferring it to be kept out of mind, out of sight.
  • General population's view on abortion: Abortion is legal up to 24 weeks into one's pregnancy for any reason under Gassasinian law. However, in Gassasinian society, as with most things, there is major polarisation between those who unequivocally support the reproductive rights of women and those who undyingly support the right to life of an unborn child, generally divided along politically left and right lines respectively.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Gassasinia is generally a rather liberal country in terms of views on other races. Past social tensions have rather been along economic and religious lines, and as such, there is not much ethnic tensions amongst Gassasinia's three ethnicities. A very small minority tends to view the Aludite minority with suspicion, owing to their economic and political success in Gassasinia, which has prompted some to perpetuate conspiracy theories generally considered crazy, if not outright offensive by a vast majority of the population.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation: Refugees from foreign countries - especially bordering Tsabara - are seen with deep suspicion. Additionally, many still hold deep-seated suspicion - if not outright prejudice and hatred - against Zorasani and Pardarian peoples owing to their past history with Zorasani-backed groups. Additionally, while most hold comparatively liberal views compared to other Badawiyan countries, many in Gassasinia still hold relatively conservative views - particularly the older generations.
  • View on immigration into country: Immigrants from richer countries are generally seen with respect, whereas immigrants from poorer countries may be seen with suspicion and hostility by some. Furthermore, refugees from Tsabara are seen as backwards and considered to take up resources that would be better spent on native Gassasinians. This view is seen even amongst some more generally socially liberal individuals in Gassasinia.
  • Women's Rights: Gassasinia generally has a history of having comparatively strong women's rights in modern history. Even today, amongst conservatives in Gassasinia, women's rights are generally well-regarded, and women have the exact same rights under the law as men, including the right to divorce their husband.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Tobacco and alcohol are generally legal in Gassasinia, provided one is of the age of 18. Furthermore, possession of marijuana is generally treated rather leniently although possessing marijuana is considered a misdemeanour. On the other hand, many Gassasinian Irfanis generally refrain from using any kind of drugs, legal or illegal.

  • Factbook:
  • RP Preferences: I generally prefer to roleplay my nation's internal and international affairs.
  • RP Samples: N/A
  • RP Intentions: Mainly worldbuilding perhaps, but also roleplaying.
  • Primary/Other NS Nations: Gorland, which is this current account's main nation but has not been and most likely will not be submitted to Kylaris. I have had other accounts but they are inactive (probably deactivated by now) and never partook in forum RP communities.
  • Any troubles with moderation? (If so, a link, please.): N/A

National Overview: Alsland, officially the United Provinces of Alsland is landlocked sovereign state in Euclea it shares borders with Werania in the North, Estmere in the east and Kirenia in the west. The territory of Alsland covers an area of (TBD)km2. The country's culture and languages are intertwined with it's neighbours with Estmerish, Weranian and Dellish being the three official languages of the country and Kirenian being a recognised regional language.

(Pre-20th century history tbd)

In 1918/19 as revolution gripped Kirenia the provinces in the east comprising of modern day Delland decided to secede and form one single independent entity. The Provisional Government of Alsland supported the councilists in the subsequent wars in Kirenia on the condition its independence was respected. Estmerish and Weranian troops were also involved in the country’s independence and were instrumental in the country’s close relationship with both.

After the country's independence the state's various ethnicities met in the Congress of Wottested formally establishing the United Provinces of Alsland and installing as President Myntsje Van Der Molen. Van Der Molen was instrumental in creating the pillarised society of modern day Delland including the 1917 Equality act which split every public service in three for each province, the Kirenian speaking Martilân was later included in this in 1926 upon it becoming a province instead of an autonomous territory.

Upon the advent of the Great War the Alish government declared neutrality although this neutrality was short lived as a pro-grand alliance government was elected in that year's election when the Gaullican army invaded the country shortly there after causing the Alish Government to collapse and the establishment of a Pro-Gaullican puppet state under the head of Sarbe Hoeksma. Hoeksma's government based around the city of Wottestad and his congress party faced resistance from the various left-wing groups in the country eventually forming into the Alish resistance which later assassinated several members of the Alish collaborationist government and paralysed Hoeksma after they planted a car bomb under his car in the winter of 1931 leading to a bloody crackdown which resulted in the imprisonment and execution of at least 1000 Dellish people many of whom were innocent. Hoeksma would later die of his injuries shortly before the Grand Alliance retook Alsland and the interim government surrendered in TBD. Democracy in Alsland was restored in 1936 and the country joined the Community of Nations in 1936.

The post-war reforms to the country included the establishment of the modern day welfare system and the implementation of separate devolved parliaments in each province and the two main cities of Yndyk, the capital, and Wottested both of which were inside the Alish province.

Throughout the next few decades the country would grow closer to the Euclean Community eventually leading to it joining in 1955 alongside Werania and Caldia. The country joined the Euclozone upon its creation and the Zilverzee Area. The country's formerly stable economy was plunged into recession during the World Financial Crisis leading to the rise of the left-wing Arbeiderspartij which advocated for the country to leave the Euclean Community and for a more pro-kirenian foreign policy. The party won the most seats in the 2005 general election and formed a coalition with the ASAY (Alish section of the workers international), the Green Party and the Progressive Party. The party later said it would no longer advocate for the country to leave the Euclean Community after widespread backlash. The coalition was voted out in 2007 after a vote of no confidence and President Schaumann dissolving parliament.

Military Overview: The Alish self defence force (ASK) was created after the Great War as a replacement for the Alish Army which was abolished after the Alish surrender to the Grand Alliance. The ASK is relatively small and is primarily used for ceremonial and self-defence. The country does not have Nukes (umm obviously) and does not have any aircraft carriers (apart from this inflatable one we bought at Aldi).

Social views:
  • General population's view on LGBT+ rights/LGBT+ people: LGBT+ marriage was recognised and LGBT+ couples were granted equal rights in a 2013 referendum on the issue shortly after the leader of the Social Democratic Party and opposition leader Jonathan Fraser, who was Bisexual himself, became Chancellor.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Alsland is a secular country and has no official religion. Explicitly Religious parties such as the Sotirian Democrats have in the past advocated for enshrining Solarian Catholicism as the state's official religion although this is no longer a mainstream idea in the country.
  • General population's view on atheism: Atheism is accepted in Alsland society and is now the second largest religious affiliation in the country after Solarian Catholicism.
  • General population's view on abortion: Abortion has been legal in the country since 1974 although restrictions such as two doctors approval were in place until 2014 when most Abortion Laws in the country were repealed.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Alsland is a pillarised society with various national groups split in three or four for each ethnic group in the country. Shortly after the country's independence from Kirenia, ethnic Kirenians were sometimes forcefully expelled from their homes and many left the country or went to Kirenian majority communities in the country's west. It became illegal to discriminate against anyone on the basis of ethnicity in the 1923 constitution.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation: Many prejudices exist within the country primarily between the country's ethnic groups, most notably between the Dellish and the Kirenians which sparked several deadly riots in the country's history including when the ASK fired upon Kirenian workers on strike outside a textile factory in 1976 killing 9 which sparked several months riots and protests and the resignation of Chancellor Van Der Hoek.
  • View on immigration into country: Immigration to Alsland is promoted from within the EC and from outside it, the government has heavily encouraged high-skilled immigration from countries in Coius and the Asterias as a major part of it's new immigration policies introduced in 2013.
  • Women's Rights: Women were granted the right to vote in 1914 after the provisional government enacted the 1914 provisional constitution. In 1975 the country elected it's first female Chancellor Urseltsje Van Der Hoek. Since then the country has had 4 female chancellors including Nieske Schotanus who served as interim Prime Minister for seven days after the death of her predecessor in 2006.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Medical Cannabis is legal in Alsland and has been since 2017. Marijuana and other recreational drugs are still banned in the country although the maximum penalty is a €50 fine and is rarely enforced. Debates within Parliament have as of yet not given any results. The Government has began an anti-smoking campaign including a controversial strict tax on Tobacco which has been criticised by politicians from across the political spectrum and tobacco companies.

  • Factbook:
  • RP Preferences: No preference
  • RP Samples:
Heath Lawrence announced his resignation to the Hamptonshire Parliament earlier this morning The Leader of the Sotirian Democrats in Hamptonshire, Heath Lawrence, announced his resignation as Minister-President and as Party leader this morning in what would be one of his last speeches to the Province's Parliament in his 30 year career.

The 79 year old who has been Minister-President of the Province since 2008 had said this would be his last term as Minister-President in 2018 following his re-election as Minister-President over the Social Democratic candidate Robyn Jordan. Lawrence was a key ally of Chancellor Schaumann during his election bid in 2017 and it was rumoured Lawrence would run for President in 2019 although he denied these rumours.

In his speech to the parliament Lawrence thanked the people of the Province for letting him serve as the Province's longest Minister-President and he thanked his fellow MPA's from all parties for serving with him since he joined the Assembly in the late 80s. His speech was met with applause from across the chamber. The Province's opposition leader Helen Shaw congratulated Lawrence and said it was an honour to serve alongside him despite their disagreements.

Chancellor Schaumann also offered his congratulations to Lawrence over Twitter calling him a personal friend and wished him well in his retirement. Schaumann and Lawrence are both members of the party's Liberal wing and have frequently criticised the party's more Conservative wing especially during the early 2010s when Schaumann who was President at the time called them "Obstructionist" and urged them to govern with the Social Democrats.

The Sotirian Democrats are expected to pick Lawrence's replacement and many experts are predicting that they will elect Rev.Philip Gardner who made international headlines in 2004 for coming out as gay. Gardner who served as the Province's Health Minister is also popular across the Province although he may alienate the Right-wing of the party who might defect to the province's Right-wing National Pride which has made gains in the Province since 2018 including several high-profile party defections including former Minister-President Charles Wilkinson and Helen Gordon the MPA for Merrow Lake.

National information
Official Name: The Serene Republic of Orhotyna (Безтурботна президентська республіка Орхотина)
Shortened Name: Orhotyna (Орхотина)
Requested Location: Here
Requested Population: 35 Million
Culture: Largely based on Ukranian culture however also has a substantial influence of Inca and other South American native clutures, despite historical attempts to stamp out these influences. I must admit to not knowing what these may be called in-canin.
  • Ethnicity: Euclean (93%), Native Asterian (4.7%), Coian (2.3%)
  • Religion: Epismialist Catholicism (79%), Solarian Catholicism (12%), Ifran (5.5%) Other (3.5%)
  • Languages: Not!Ukranian, Gaullican
Government Type: Unitary Presidential Republic
Head of State: President Vyodimir Katsinsky
Head of Government: Prime Minister Mikael Tsavinsov
Requested GDP Per Capita: 10,000 - I assume Asteria Inferior is rather undeveloped.

National Overview: Orhotyna was established as a Colony by Not!Ukraine, eventually managing to secure it's independence during the National Revolution, which ended on Jaunuary 15th, 1818. Orhotyna did not officially take part in the Great War, however a volunteer corps was formed and fought on the side of the Entente. Following the Entente's defeat, Orhotyna attempted to repair it's international standing, taking a more neutral approach in an attempt to attract foreign investment. This ultimately lead to an economic boom in the late 1940s and very early 1950s.

In the modern era, Orhotyna has been largely plagued by internal instability following the 1954 Economic Crash and subsequent 1958 Coup D'Etat by Nationalist arms of the Military. This resulted in the Orhotynian Civil War which lasted until September 1964 and culminated in the formation of the current Republic in 1965. The nation is, today, wracked by economic troubles including sky-high unemployment, massive corruption at higher levels in business and government, and a growing anti-establishment sentiment among the general populace.

Military Overview: Moderately-sized and composed mostly of conscripts who, while adequately trained, are hamstrung by outdated equipment. The army is the largest branch of service, followed by the air force, and then the navy. The navy fields no vessel larger than a frigate, and even then, only in small numbers. The ability for Orhotyna to power-project is minimal to non-existent. The Armed Forces of Orhotyna are currently lobbying the government for much-needed funds for modernization, which is routinely denied. There is also a National Citizen Militia Corps which works closely with the Armed Forces, however, it is not considered part of the military and is used mainly for internal policing.

Social views:
  • General population's view on LGBT+ rights/LGBT+ people: While the general public is mostly ambivalent about the presence of LGBT+ peoples, government and hate-groups have come out and denounced them as dangerous, unstable, and deviant. The government does not provide any protections to LGBT+ individuals.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Tolerated. Orhotyna is nominally a secular state.
  • General population's view on atheism: Tolerated. See above.
  • General population's view on abortion: Increeasingly seen in a favorable light. However, abortion is only permitted under law in the cases of rape or of danger to the mother.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Under National Law, discrimination of ethnic minorities is illegal. However, enforcement is lax, and much like LGBT+ rights, ethnic minorities have been the targets of discrimination in the past.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation: There have been racial tensions between native populations and the mixed Euclean majority. The government has also been stoking anti-LGBT+ sentiments.
  • View on immigration into country: Unfavorable, not that anyone would actually want to move to Orhotyna right now.
  • Women's Rights: Most people are in favor, however there is a very vocal minority which attempts to block any attempts at expanding laws regarding women's rights.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs:
Possession, sale and use of Alcohol and Tobacco are legal, however possession, sale, or use of other drugs is heavily punished. There are some calls to legalize Marijuana though this typically falls on deaf ears.

  • Factbook: Don't have one yet. I will make a one soon.
  • RP Preferences: Honestly, I'm up for anything. I tend to gravitate towards character-driven and military RPs though.
  • RP Samples: Prompt me please. All examples I have are old and cringey.
  • RP Intentions: Roleplay and Worldbuild. Two of the things I really like to do when I have the time.
  • Primary/Other NS Nations: Eikangaard, Asanagi, Estann. Mostly using these for random nationbuilding atm.
  • Any troubles with moderation? (If so, a link, please.): Nope.
  • Discord username (in the USERNAME#0000 format): AceofAces#3192
  • Anything else?: I'd just like to take this time to make it clear that this nation does not reflect my IRL social views, especially its views on women and LGBTQ+ rights. I just think this will be an interesting nation to roleplay.

Postby Taufain » Fri Oct 02, 2020 9:09 pm

(not yet complete, posted so I can edit this easily later on another machine and to save it in a convenient place)

National information
Official Name: The Republic of Taufain
Shortened Name: Taufain
Requested Location: (Please provide a map of your desired claims.)
Requested Population: 100 million
Culture: The Taufainese culture is inspired by a mashup of various South East Asian nations, with a few European (mostly from Gaullica ICly influences). Despite keeping this "core" though, they also have become far more cosmopolitcan and multicultural in relatively recent years, both due to the country's attempts to fling its proverbial doors as wide open as they'll go for international business and holidaymaking. Despite being a mashup in style though, I very much intend for Taufain to have its own "feel" and identity independent from any real life analogue. (This is currently in a barebones state, however, I intend to worldbuild more as I go on and as Taufain evolves and develops as a "character" in its own right)
  • Ethnicity: The primary ethnicity of Taufain is still native Taufainese sitting at approximately 80% of the nation's population. The rest are made up of a mishmash of various other ethnic groups, with the biggest chunk of this remaining 20%(around 13-14%) made up of other East Coius immigrants, while the rest are made up of immigrants from all across the globe.
  • Religion: (What is the dominant religion, if any, in your country? What religious minorities are present?)
  • Languages: Taufain has in effect, two languages. The first is the pre-colonial "Taufainese", which is an offshoot of Malay and still partially mutually intelligible with it, and Gaullican which was picked up from their previous colonisers and was kept as a useful "trade language", for the Taufainese deemed it useful for communication and business with regions such as Euclea. As it currently stands, a strong portion of the population are bilingual, as they are taught Gaullican in schooling at an early age due to its utility.
    Government Type: Liberal Democratic Republic
Head of State: (In most cases, the leading diplomatic authority in the nation, in some cases the most powerful person in nations such as presidential republics.)
Head of Government: (The Head of Government is usually, though not always, the second-most powerful person in the nation. They lead the governmental apparatus as opposed to the state itself, deriving their power from, in most cases, the nation’s legislature.)
Requested GDP Per Capita: 10k USD on average, however there is a fairly large wealth disparity at play. While your traditional for lack of a better word "peasant" out in the deep countryside would not be earning much at all and primarily be living off of the land, the people of the modern towns and cities are typically far more well off. This has led a shift in recent years of people moving away from the countryside and more traditional settings into the big urban centres.
National Overview: (A brief summary of your nation's general history, political ideology, and society.)
Military Overview: The Taufainese military is split up into three branches, known as the "Grand Army of the Republic," the "Grand Navy of the Republic", and the "Grand Air Force of the Republic". They are a decently advanced well trained and well equipped war fighting force however they are primarily defensively focused, with force extension limited by both doctrine (the Taufainese much prefer fast and precise strikes to getting bogged down in any large scale invasion operations) and simply their logistical capacity. All things being said, they spend roughly 2% of their GDP on their armed forces, giving them 20 billion for defence. This is split relatively evenly amongst the branches, however, both the navy (including marines) and the air force typically receive larger shares of this funding.

    Social views:
    • General population's view on LGBT+ rights/LGBT+ people: LGBT people have the same rights as any other citizen of Taufain, and gay marriage is legal. This being said, while the younger generations and people living in the far more developed urban areas are typically far more accepting, the older generation are still far more traditional in their values and frown on such practices, claiming that they are evidence of Taufain's "moral degeneration" in order to fit more in line with the first world.
    • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Taufain has freedom of religion and freedom of religious practice (provided said religion's practices do not contravene any other laws, naturally), and the population is more or less perfectly fine with practitioners of other religions calling Taufain home.
    • General population's view on atheism: Atheism is seen as a perfectly valid worldview and is not negatively stigmatised.
    • General population's view on abortion: Abortion while perfectly legal has a social stigma attached to it. The Taufainese believe that not allowing a person to be born forever traps their soul between the physical plane and the ethereal plane in a permanent limbo, not allowing for said soul to ever reincarnate. This belief initially stems from their ancient "Old Pantheon" faith, that while no longer is commonly practiced is still deeply ingrained into Taufainese mythology.
    • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s):The Taufainese are generally welcoming and curious about other cultures, however similar to their views on religion the people might get a little wary if a particular ethnic group prove particularly troublesome. (For example a nation's tourists are known for being especially rude and disrespectful, or if there are several terrorist incidents.)
    • Any big prejudices in your nation: The people of Taufain are borderline fanatical towards their republic. In battle, cries of "for the republic!" are not uncommon, and they tend to view people with anti republic views (for example, those in favour of monarchism or dictatorships) almost as if they were blasphemers. This can lead to far harsher sentences for those tried for treason, corruption and similar. The most standout moment was the leader and high ranking officials of a major political party being executed by firing squad in the late 1950s for a conspiracy to fix an election and attempt to implement a single party state in an incident that came to be known as "bloody Monday".
    • View on immigration into country: The Taufainese have a fairly open and encouraging stance on immigration, seeing it as a good way to add to the overall workforce.
    • Women's Rights: Women have the exact same rights as men both legally and (for the most part) culturally. Women are allowed to serve in frontline armed forces roles (provided they are able to pass the same physical baseline requirements as men), are not stigmatised at all when going into business (in fact, several of Taufain's richest citizens are women), and in general are not subject to traditional gender roles save for what a person might pick for themselves.
    • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Tobacco smoking has become far less popular and is (for perhaps good reason) seen as an unhealthy and dirty habit primarily due to some very successful anti smoking campaigns in the early 2000s. This has not stopped the people from simply switching to vape devices though, and in fact a large industry has grown up around these in the last decade. Alcohol on the other hand, is not viewed with such a taboo at all with the country having a very vibrant drinking culture with many traditional beverages being widely celebrated as cultural icons. Finally as for drugs, while marijuana is legal for a person to smoke in the privacy of their own homes (use in public outside certified Amsterdam style coffee shops is still banned, and public intoxication laws apply) it is still heavily stigmatised from years of it not being so. Other narcotics are not so accepted however, with both the law and the general populace pretty much in agreement in regards to their illegality.

      • Factbook: I don't have one yet as this is a brand new nation, but I can work on one.
      • RP Preferences: All of the above, honestly, depending on my mood. I tend to fall back on character driven for most things though.
      • RP Samples: (If not available, ask for a prompt.)
      • RP Intentions: A bit of everying, I'm here to roleplay and to worldbuild. In terms of "plot arc" however, my main intentions are to play a booming nation that's churning out well engineered, well designed and reasonably priced products in many industries, playing the trade game to the point where Taufainese products become widespread worldwide as well as take part in humanitarian efforts all over the world. Taufain are very much gunning to become a shining example to the world of how great an East Coius nation can really be in both fair and open government, and positive impact upon the world as a whole.
      • Primary/Other NS Nations: Republic of Avellum (Mostly defunct, trying to find a place and a role for it after leaving old RP region. If you check it out you'll find a mess of partially completed factbooks if it's still active by the time you look.)
      • Any troubles with moderation? (If so, a link, please.): N/A
      • Discord username (in the USERNAME#0000 format): Thewaltham#8371

Over time the city of Annise would be a abandoned sometime during the 200s BCE later on the are of Nise would become apart of the Solarian Empire.

Filler to be discussed at some point (400s-1948)

Nise emerged once again in 1948 following the decolonization of much of Bahia by Estmere founding the Republic of Nise which soon became a single party state following a coup by the military in 1952 and was led by the Awan family for several decades. The 1970s and 1980s being considered the best era of the Niserian Economy. Oil exports reached new highs and the country would remain stable and wealth was constantly being generated until the unexpected death of Shaheed al-Awan in 2005 leaving no defined heir to inherit his place in the nation. Soon several cousins attempted to seize the spot once held with various backings of different military units along with a large scale pro-democracy uprising which ended up with a multifaceted civil war that would last for several years. The civil war ended in 2015 with much of the Awan family dead or in hiding, the Pro-democracy rebels forcing the last few living members to surrender and soon set up a fledgling democracy. Since the establishment of the Republic in conjunction with the Community of Nations the government has been moving forward with many recovery projects funded by oil export revenue.
Military Overview: The Armed Forces of Nise are relatively large, still playing an active role in maintaining peace within Nise by fighting insurgents and attempting to uphold the constitution of the nation. Standing at roughly 50,000 soldiers with the vast majority in the Ground Forces and Air Forces, using a collection of older Tsabaran and Euclean gear.
