    4. Proposed IC National Information (Continued)
    a) Summary of your nation (touching upon its history, culture, politics, society, geography, or other relevant phenomena): The nation of Ulkesi is a relatively recent invention in comparison to other states, however the concept of the state has existed for a much longer time. The destruction of the Golden Coast Confederation in the late 13th-century, the region was forcibly split into numerous smaller states. It wasn't until the marriage of Harun I and Azra of Batı Nehri in 1560 that the idea of a united Ulkesi state came about, with the marriage uniting the two largest principalities. Taking the title of Emperor, Harun began a long campaign to conquer the rest of the Ulkesi states, with his sons taking on the cause after his death. By 1721, the Ulkesi states had all joined the large Empire of Zenginlik, achieving the dream of Harun. However, during the reign of Karadag II, the Conquests continued, marching further north than ever before to spread the power of Zenginlik. Despite reaching the pinnacle of its strength and size, the state entered a period of decline following Karadag's death. In an effort to consolidate the weakening social and political foundations of the empire, the monarchy started a period of repressionin the early 19th century, to prevent the death of the institution, however all it did was incite Republican fervour. The monarchy was officially deposed of during the Officer's Coup, and stripped of rank and forbidden to return. The Officer's then proclaimed the Republic of Göller Ülkesi. Instituting a wide array of reforms, the republic had a significant religious tone to it in favour of [TBA], moulding it to suit their religious requirements.

The 20th century, despite the Republican efforts, proved to be just as filled with hardships. The rebellion and independence of several northern states saw many other regions of the empire begin to clamour for independence as well, however these were put down heavy-handedly by the sitting government. The state's involvement in [Global Conflict] and subsequent defeat spurred on another round of instability. Unsatisfied with how the republic was shaking and serving, a number of Senators declared an end to the republic in 1943, establishing the Second Republic of Göller Ülkesi, adopting a secularist approach as opposed to the First Republic, while also centralising the nation to allow for more direct control. These reforms, however, did little to satisfy some of the louder voices demanding independence, leading to the Ulkesi–TBA conflict, an armed conflict between the Second Republic and TBA insurgents, has been active since the establishment of the Second Republic, albeit with much less violence that in previous years.

Primarily a Republican nation, the chief executive is the President who is both head of state and head of government, who also serves as the military commander-in-chief and chief diplomat. Executive power is exercised by the President. Legislative power is vested in the National Senate.

The National Senate is the legislative branch of the federal government. It is bicameral, comprising the First Senate and the Second Senate. The Second Senate acts as the upper house of the government, however they posses very little voting power compared to the First Senate, being comprised of people elected via public petition for a perceived expertise of a subject deemed important to the nation. No Senators are allowed to be publicly part of any political party, due to the fact the Chamber is declared internationally neutral, and also as its purpose is to revise and critique any bills, as well as proposed amendments to make the bill more inclusive of the many minority groups in Ulkesi, passed by the First Chamber. The Chamber has a maximum of 150 members. First Senate is made up of 200 members, who are elected from established constituencies. The Chamber is responsible for the formation of bills and the voting of them, as well as the nomination of the President.

Socially, the nation is relatively conservative, both socially and culturally, with the preservation of traditional values, such as opposition to abortion and opposition to same-sex marriage, however a rising tide of liberalism among the youth of the nation makes these contentious issues. Additionally, there's a severe disconnect betwenn the Ulkesi and the minority groups in the nation, with the Ulkesi supporting the continued existence of the Second Republic under its unitary state, while minority groups often support either autonomy or a more federal approach to the nation, while more extreme forces call for independence. Geographically, much of the nation's greenery is centred along the coastal regions, or the Central lakes, with the rest of the nation being classed as a semiarid central plateau, which is rimmed by hills and mountains that in many places limit access to the fertile, densely settled coastal regions.

    b) What language(s) are spoken in your nation? Is there an official language? Other recognized languages?: Ulkesi (Turkish) is the only official language of the state, however the use of Arabic, Hebrew, Armenian, Azerbaijani, and other Semitic/Levantine languages is common in minority areas.
    c) What ethnic and racial group(s) are present in your nation?: Ulkesi (Turkish) and other Semitic/Levantine groups
    d) What are the major religion(s) among your population? Any notable minority religion(s)?:TBA
    e) Summarize your nation’s military (including the name, size [by personnel], strategic role(s), service branches, etc.): Known as the Armed Forces of the Second Republic, the Forces currently stand at 300,000 strong, split between the Army (120,000), the Republican Navy (50,000), the Air Force (60,000) and the Secuirty Services (70,000). The stated goal of the Armed Forces are defined in the Constitution as 'The Defence and Security of the Second Republic and its borders and sovereignty''.
    f) Summarize your nation’s domestic politics (including political parties or factions, national/state/local relationships, political history, etc.): The Second Republic has three major parties, with the Republican Party and the National Party being the dominant two, while the Party of the Second Republic is often a deal-making coalition partner for many hung elections. The state itself is separated into three distinct sections, North, Central and South, though these have little political effect and usually done for organisational purposes. Being a unitary state, all political decisions are made by the Central Government, however the country is divided in 15 constituencies, which themselves are separated into smaller parishes. Funding for these parishes comes from the central government, who delegate it to the Constituencies who are permitted to divide it among parishes as they view appropriate, however that is often the extent of Constituency power, aside from being in charge of infrastructural repair and local policing.
    g) Summarize your nation’s economics (General political economy, notable imports/exports, any good/service you are self-sufficient on, international trade policy/ties, etc.): Economically, the nation is an open market. However, in practice, many companies in Ulkesi are subject to Union Law, with legal consequences should they violate any of them, such as underpaying workers or unfair contracts. As such, the Department of Union Affairs is one of the largest governmental departments, with workers permitted to submit offered contracts to the Department to ensure its legality. The nation itself is a major agricultural and manufacturing hub, producing large amounts of crops yearly, to the point of almost self-sufficiency. Aside from agriculture, the largest export sectors of the nation are apparel, foodstuffs, textiles, metal manufactures and transport equipment. The nation also imports much of its fuel from abroad, as well as unfinished goods so that they can be finished in Ulkesi. Chemicals and machinery are also the largest imports of the nation. The nation also practices a low-tariff policy with its trading partners, allowing it to bring more goods into the nation to sell abroad.

    5. OOC and IC Regional Dynamics
a)If asked to reduce the power and national strengths of your country, how would you do so? Population, nation size, and GDP
    b) What role do you see your nation fulfilling within the region ICly?: A regional power, with close ties to not!European nations due to its secular and Republican ideals
    c) Neutrally discuss the strengths and weaknesses of your nation (esp. military, political, and economic) and how they may affect existing IC geopolitics: The largest strengths of the nation lay in its commitment to its people, inspiring a sort of loyalty from its populace that is unique in the world. Additionally, its military is well trained and equipped, with an Oath to the Republic being mandatory to all soldiers to ensure they will do all they can to protect the nation. Economically, the nation's role as a cross-roads of trade allows it to amass a significant amount of soft power in the local region. However, its weaknesses lay in the divide among Ulkesi Unitarians and minority federalists, as well as the more violent members of the debate that clamour for independence. Furthermore, its policy of low tariff trade makes for the possibility of it being importing significantly more than it can export, leading to a worrying trade imbalance of the state.
    d) Do you agree to keep IC and OOC politics and players' individual views separate from RP and worldbuilding to the best of your ability?: Yes/No (bold your answer)
    e) Do you agree to maintain civil discourse and reasonable conduct among players OOCly?: Yes/No (bold your answer)
    f) Do you agree to avoid specifically engaging in trolling, targeting of other players, and other similar disruptive behavior among players OOCly?: Yes/No (bold your answer)

Just posted a new RP for Pardes!

    A Truce of Trust

Synopsis: In a land that is written off as being a "20th century era conflict" trouble is brewing for the ethnic colonial populace who are trying to hold on to the Vitharan majority nation. In the midst of increased ethnic strife new challenges arise from parties that would be unlikely given the full landscape of the never-ending conflict in Lieuaban.

    4. Proposed IC National Information (Continued)
    a) Summary of your nation (touching upon its history, culture, politics, society, geography, or other relevant phenomena): With it's roots drawn from the Trinovantan Empire in the 2nd century BC(?), Trinovantum is a state that has existed in some form for over 2000 years. The empire rose to local prominence in the 1st-4th century AD(?), when it began conquering and subjugating neighboring tribes and city-states. However, the limits of the abilities of the centralized government were quickly reached, and these campaigns were brought to an end in the late 4th century. A period of decline followed in which the empire lost vassals, territory, and were subject to internal rebellions. By the 7th century, the internal problems plaguing the empire were rectified and the empire entered an era of relative stability.

In the early 12th century, explorers reached the Kasaishiman continent. By the late 12th century, some settlements were established on this new land; however the primitive state of ocean-going shipbuilding and navigation prevented anything but small-scale colonization and the trade of luxury items from being profitable. At this time on the mainland, internal reforms saw the first limitations on the previously absolute power of the emperor by delegating certain administrative powers to a "council of lords" and ensuring the protection of rights for this class. With advances in navigational devices and ship-building that came in the 15th century, an intensive colonization effort of the Kasaishiman continent began.

In 1674, revolts on the mainland force further reforms to the national government. Among the most important of these reforms was the opening of the "council of lords" to the press and the public. This proved to be a cataclysmic event, and by 1708 a new "council of the commons" was created to share legislative power with the council of lords. Over the next century, the political power of both the council of lords and the emperor would wane considerably, leaving the council of the commons and various newly created executive organizations the effective ruling government. By 1815, to reflect the sweeping changes of the government over the past century, the Trinovantan Empire was renamed to the Republic of Trinovantum. However, this would also mark the zenith of the nation's power on the world stage. Over the next two centuries, colonial uprisings and [global conflict(s)] would see the public's desire to maintain a vast empire strained. In the 21st century, the nation's primary focuses have shifted to maintaining its current holdings, brokering trade with other advanced nations, and managing its internal politics.
    b) What language(s) are spoken in your nation? Is there an official language? Other recognized languages?: Trinovantan (it's English) is the official and only recognized language of the republic.
    c) What ethnic and racial group(s) are present in your nation?: Central Ordian (97%) with other Ordian minorities
    d) What are the major religion(s) among your population? Any notable minority religion(s)?: Undecided at this time
    e) Summarize your nation’s military (including the name, size [by personnel], strategic role(s), service branches, etc.): The Trinovantan Military has ~800,000 personnel in total, divided between the Army, Navy, and Air Force. Between these services there are an additional ~350,000 reserve personnel that can be called upon in times of need.
    f) Summarize your nation’s domestic politics (including political parties or factions, national/state/local relationships, political history, etc.): The nation is separated into ~800 political districts with each district being given a representative in parliament. There are three major political parties: The longstanding Republican Party, the Conservative Party, and the isolationist Trinovantan National Front. Almost all legislative power resides on the national level, with local district governments having some executive and judicial powers in order to enforce the national policy.
    g) Summarize your nation’s economics (General political economy, notable imports/exports, any good/service you are self-sufficient on, international trade policy/ties, etc.): While capitalist, the government's responsibilities extend beyond regulation to playing an active part in directing the economy. Key national industries (road and rail, utilities, power generation) are fully nationalized, and other industries important to the national interest (agriculture, postal service, transportation, healthcare, resource exploitation, military industry, etc) are given incentives and subsides to direct their efforts towards the national interest.

The nation has a robust industrial and manufacturing base but relies on trade and colonial exploitation to provide the raw materials these industries need, with rare earth elements being of specific concern in the modern era. The efficient agribusinesses of Trinovantum are becoming increasingly pressured by the growing population as well, resulting in a perpetual decrease in food exports and a reliance on imports projected to become a necessity in the coming decades. Primary trade exports consist of electronics, automobiles, luxury goods, and industrial tools.

    5. OOC and IC Regional Dynamics
a)If asked to reduce the power and national strengths of your country, how would you do so? It would ultimately depend on what aspects are considered to be too strong, but in a general sense I would reduce the proportion of the population in the military and make the nation more reliant on importation. Further reductions would be done by reducing the size of the nation's territory, population, and general economic strength.
    b) What role do you see your nation fulfilling within the region ICly?: A historical power serving as a powerful ally/antagonist for other nations in the Central/Eastern Ordia and Kasaishima continents. In the modern era it would be a waning power shifting focus from colonial conquest to preserving its sphere of influence.
    c) Neutrally discuss the strengths and weaknesses of your nation (esp. military, political, and economic) and how they may affect existing IC geopolitics: Trinovantum's military is, on paper, powerful; having both a large amount of personnel in service and a fair amount of funding. However, the multitude of colonial holdings, their resulting garrisons, and the need to defend shipping routes dilute that power. The varying environments that the military are expected to operate in means they tend to favor robustness over bleeding-edge advancement when it comes to procurement.

The nation's economy is its greatest strength, with a world-class industry manufacturing a wide variety of goods for both internal use and trade. However, mainland Trinovantum does not have the raw materials to support its level of industrialization, and as a result is reliant on trade and colonial exploitation in order to maintain its output. The nation's research and information sectors are also robust and competitive in the modern world market. The nation's economic strength and market diversity give it a relatively high living standard across all economic classes.

Politically, the nation is more divided. All three major political parties oppose each other on a myriad of issues, and several minor and single-issue parties make national politics convoluted and disjointed. In particular, there is growing discontentment with the nation's colonialism, and the current economic policies are not accepted by advocates of laissez faire capitalism nor socialism.
    d) Do you agree to keep IC and OOC politics and players' individual views separate from RP and worldbuilding to the best of your ability?: Yes/No (bold your answer)
    e) Do you agree to maintain civil discourse and reasonable conduct among players OOCly?: Yes/No (bold your answer)
    f) Do you agree to avoid specifically engaging in trolling, targeting of other players, and other similar disruptive behavior among players OOCly?: Yes/No (bold your answer)

    c) What ethnic and racial group(s) are present in your nation?: Central Ordian (97%) with other Ordian minorities
    d) What are the major religion(s) among your population?

    1. Applicant OOC Information
    a) Nationstates Name:
    b) Current Region on Nationstates:
    c) Time on Nationstates:
    d) Previous regions?:
    • Example
d(i)) Are you known by/played other nations besides your current one?:
    • Example
    e) How did you hear about Pardes?:
e(i)) Were you recommended to Pardes?:

    2. Roleplay History (Please give 3 examples)
    A.
    B.
    C.

    3. Proposed IC National Information
    a) Nation's IC name (stylized as Common Name/Formal, Official Name): Republic of Tsarkariya
    b) Nation's type of government: Corporate oligarchy
    c) Nation's type of economy: Mixed oligopoly
    d) Nation's IC population: 150,000,000ish
    e) Nation's IC Nominal GDP: 4,125 billionish
    f) Nation's IC GDP per capita: 27,500ish
    g) Nation's head of state (title and name): Executor Alheri Layeni
    h) Nation's head of gov’t (if applicable): As above
    i) What is your ideal location on the regional map? Between Terrica and Notreceau Overseas Territories

    4. Proposed IC National Information (Continued)
    a) Summary of your nation: Uncolonized indigenous conglomeration of corporations that grew out of tribal holdings and fought, slaved, and bribed outsiders (like Notreceau) to remove nations which would not submit to their rule. Each corporation is self-serving and trying to one-up the others, which leads to a unique situation where they provide social programs, sometimes extensively, specifically to build goodwill with both Tsarkariya's population and other nations at each other's expense
    b) What language(s) are spoken in your nation? Is there an official language? Other recognized languages?: Hausa is the official. Other recognized languages are Yoruba and whatever the lingua franca is.
    c) What ethnic and racial group(s) are present in your nation?: Many different groups of indigenous peoples, and ideally immigrant enclaves from all over
    d) What are the major religion(s) among your population? Any notable minority religion(s)?: Depends what religions are currently extant elsewhere
    e) Summarize your nation’s military: Geared mostly for home defense and civil order, but the corporations have multiple PMCs that can be used to project small forces either in secret or in concert with its allies (or whoever just pays for it). At the national level, it focuses largely on its air force, and its navy is an afterthought. If including the civil guard, the numbers look inflated.
    f) Summarize your nation’s domestic politics: The nation is broken up largely along corporate lines, which align with the most populous ethnic groups, formerly tribes which have managed over the centuries to grab undue amounts of land, resources, and power. Despite having reached an almost unbreakable stalemate in the country, the corporations vie for any leg up they can manage, and will consider extrajudicial killings to get an edge (so long as it can't be traced back to them)
    g) Summarize your nation’s economics): Corporations want to expand at almost any cost in order to get a leg up on each other and one foreign businesses. They're heavily invested in green technology, pharmaceuticals, precious metals/minerals, banking, etc... whatever they can get their feet in on. PMCs are popular ways to make money and hit opposition without declaring war. Food production, however, is more difficult for them and is a large portion of their imports.

    5. IC Regional Dynamics
a)If asked to reduce the power and national strengths of your country, how would you do so? Increase internal instability, probably.
    b) What role do you see your nation fulfilling within the region ICly?: Lots of business relationships, possibly which lead to Tsarkariya being a natural go-to for conflict resolution.
    c) Neutrally discuss the strengths and weaknesses of your nation (esp. military, political, and economic) and how they may affect existing IC geopolitics: Militarily incapable of doing anything more than defending their airspace, land borders, and perhaps supporting others in a coalition - though their PMC approach is far more likely than a state-sanctioned coalition force. They also have trouble actually deciding to work together. Each corporation, though, has a lot of leeway in what they can or cannot do themselves, and they should be very good at building their empires abroad to try to consolidate more power than Tsarkariya itself can actually give them.

    a) Nation's IC name (stylized as Common Name/Formal, Official Name): Grand Principality of Rhynovia
    b) Nation's type of government: Absolute Monarchy
    c) Nation's type of economy: Mixed
    d) Nation's IC population: 42,341,014
    e) Nation's IC Nominal GDP: 1.002 trillion
    f) Nation's IC GDP per capita: 23,664
    g) Nation's head of state (title and name): Grand Princess Karina Aristov
    h) Nation's head of gov’t (if applicable): Grand Princess Karina Aristov
    i) What is your ideal location on the regional map? (Please link an imgur or similarly generated claim, or just state the general region (e.g. "notEastern Europe") or closeness to an existing IC country (e.g. "East of Tarsas") https://imgur.com/gallery/RE3WCOo

    4. Proposed IC National Information (Continued)
    a) Summary of your nation (touching upon its history, culture, politics, society, geography, or other relevant phenomena): The Grand Principality of Rhynovia or what is commonly known as Rhynovia is a Semi-Constitutional Slavic Monarchy located _________, Rhynovia is a direct descendant and successor to the Empire of Velikoslavia.

Rhynovia is a developed country with a HDI index of 0.76. Its major industries include Metallurgy, Industrial Production, Agriculture, and Consumer goods. With its locations ______ Rhynovia enjoys trade with both western and eastern powers with easy access to both.

Having recently reformed from a communist Worker's Republic, to a democratically run Republic, and finally back to a Monarchy (as it was historically) the issues within Rhynovia are often focused on economic improvements and catching up with other major western powers in quality of life of its citizens. Formerly the Worker's Republic bloated budget and lack of clear international policy and focus, the overall economic outlook of the nation suffered. A major economic renaissance occurred at the fall of the communist regime and the opening of its borders and industries to other democratically inclined western powers. This surge in demands for exports has brought Rhynovia to Xth in the region for economic growth.

A Semi-Constitutional Monarchy, Rhynovia is lead by a Prince(cess) titled more formerly as "Grand Prince(cess)" of the Aristov Dynasty. This monarch is head of state and government and has absolute power over the day to day interests of the Grand Principality, with few exceptions in relations to the Charter of the Peoples which is a constitution of Rhynovia that outlines basic rights of its people the Monarch is charged with upholding and protecting. This absolute form of government is tolerated largely due to the cultural propensity of the Rhynovian people towards a stratified society where every has a place, or "rank". The Assembly of Ranks is the closest thing to a legislative body in Rhynovia that consists of all the nobles of rank and title within the Grand Principality, with the responsibility of advising and bringing issues to the monarch.
    b) What language(s) are spoken in your nation? Is there an official language? Other recognized languages?: Mostly Slavic languages. Slavic was the name of the language last region it was in so Ill come up with something for here.
    c) What ethnic and racial group(s) are present in your nation?: Mainly the Rhy people who draw ancestry to the first people's to settle the river Rhy. Also a healthy mix of other ethnicities from the surroundings.
    d) What are the major religion(s) among your population? Any notable minority religion(s)?: Eastern orthodox, something akin to Tarsas's church. (At least I think he has the same thing here).
    e) Summarize your nation’s military (including the name, size [by personnel], strategic role(s), service branches, etc.): The Royal Armed Forces of the Grand Principality is a multi-branched joint organization that's main mission is the defense of Rhynovia and her interests within the Eastern Belisarian region. Composted of three branches: The Royal Navy (RRN), Royal Air Force, and the Royal Territorial Army (RTA), the Royal Armed Forces is a joint force organized to be lead by a joint command, with little differentiation in service branches in the arena of command and control. The Royal Territorial Army has been the principle branch of the Armed Forces since the inception of the Republic, with its main focus being the defense of the borders of Rhynovia.
    f) Summarize your nation’s domestic politics (including political parties or factions, national/state/local relationships, political history, etc.): In the absence of any democratic structures within the Grand Principality there is no political parties, but that is not to say that courtly intrigue is not alive and well within Rhynovia. As nobles have done for centuries within their kingdoms and fifes they have vied for more power and more titles. While 21st Century Rhynovia is bound by the Charter of the People which protects the lower classes of Rhynovia from the internal struggles and jousting of the nobility, the political landscape remains much the same as it did prior to the 1950s, fluid.
    g) Summarize your nation’s economics (General political economy, notable imports/exports, any good/service you are self-sufficient on, international trade policy/ties, etc.): Leading up to the 21st century Rhynovia had experienced extensive poverty under the rule of the Worker's Republic. Exports were almost non-existent as trade partners for the ultra socialist state were non-existent and the agriculture industry suffered from an overload of demand and a failure to keep up with modern methods. With the turn of the 21st century and the fall of the communist regime in 2005, a new dawn of the Rhynovian economy under the free market began as industries and investors from all corners of the earth began partnering with the fledgling nation as its cheaper workforce featured an abundance of experience and industrial potential.

    5. IC Regional Dynamics
a)If asked to reduce the power and national strengths of your country, how would you do so? Most likely reduce GDP, though it stands to be pretty middle of the pack with hows Pardes is now.
    b) What role do you see your nation fulfilling within the region ICly?: Small power, potential tension in Ordia with its Minor states.
    c) Neutrally discuss the strengths and weaknesses of your nation (esp. military, political, and economic) and how they may affect existing IC geopolitics: its strengths is its large agriculture industry coupled with cheap labor and decent manufacturing base. Weakness would fall more to its internal tension, lack of a highly educated workforce, and economic troubles it is still recovering from in the 90s.

As a note as well, the 4 small nations I include on the claim (Minor Rhy states) are part of a narrative Ive been running for awhile with this nation and will be separate from Rhynovia but sort of in the background. They will all be super small, prob not more than a few million people each.

I'm still a relatively new player with a likewise somewhat young nation, and don't really have RP series to share. Mostly this is due to awkwardness and being a little uncomfortable inserting my nation into even open RPs, and another reason is from the fact that I made my country more defensive and reactive. I have a couple of tiny examples from the GE&T section, but doubtfully anything that would impress members.
Would you still be willing to vet me and potentially invite me to the region?

Yeah totally, perhaps start by apping with something your comfortable with? Allot of folks here do worldbuilding as well and not exclusively RPing so if your in to that its a cool place to start. Or even we have a few folks who are usually willing to do some RPs. There are all types of RPs not just war and conflict.

Thanks, I'd love that! The only semi-future tech Griemvarant has is cloned dinosaurs, which are mostly used for utility and law enforcement as well as tourism. Other than that, we're firmly in MT territory. I'd be happy to put in an application and, in the event of a war RP, the Griemvarantan Armed Forces are ready for defensive actions.

    1. Applicant OOC Information
    a) Nationstates Name: Griemvarant
    b) Current Region on Nationstates: The League of Conservative Nations
    c) Time on Nationstates: <1 month
    d) Previous regions?: Oatland, Federation of Conservative Nations (I've been trying to find a region that isn't wholeheartedly opposed to autocratic rule)
    • Example
d(i)) Are you known by/played other nations besides your current one?: No, this is my first
    e) How did you hear about Pardes?: Recommended by Achesia
e(i)) Were you recommended to Pardes?: Yes

    2. Roleplay History (Please give 3 examples)
    A. No significant on-site roleplay, though my thread Dinosaurs for Sale https://forum.nationstates.net/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=462553 has drawn attention.
    B. Significant roleplay experience off-site, from MMOs like the now-defunct City of Heroes where I headed several Super Groups and organized multi-faction events, to experience as a GM for D&D, Pathfinder and World of Darkness games.

    3. Proposed IC National Information
    a) Nation's IC name (stylized as Common Name/Formal, Official Name): Griemvarant/The Confederacy of Griemvarant
    b) Nation's type of government: Organized Autocracy, with Democratic elements
    c) Nation's type of economy: State-regulated capitalism
    d) Nation's IC population: 37 million
    e) Nation's IC Nominal GDP: 990 billion savals (§990 billion)/approx. $850 billion
    f) Nation's IC GDP per capita: §35,675/$31,000
    g) Nation's head of state (title and name): Confederate Sharth Gargon
    h) Nation's head of gov’t (if applicable):
    i) What is your ideal location on the regional map? (Please link an imgur or similarly generated claim, or just state the general region (e.g. "notEastern Europe") or closeness to an existing IC country (e.g. "East of Tarsas") Southern Hemisphere, near Lieuaban or beneath Notreceau Overseas Territories

    4. Proposed IC National Information (Continued)
    a) Summary of your nation (touching upon its history, culture, politics, society, geography, or other relevant phenomena): A pious nation still reeling from a massive civil war more than a century prior, Griemvarant does its best to balance tradition with modern technology. Regions within the country are governed by elected governors, a local congress, and a local court: the nation is controlled by a council of seven Confederates, each selected by their predecessor. One Confederate is the actual supreme leader of the nation, and is voted upon by the predecessor Confederates - no Confederate can vote for their own nominee, nor can a Confederate nominate a family member as a successor. Geography is varied, with the southern half freezing over in winter and terminating in an ice field teeming with penguin preserves, while the north is the breadbasket. Past a mountain range to the east are a series of valleys that serve as the heart of Griemvarant's mining.
    b) What language(s) are spoken in your nation? Is there an official language? Other recognized languages?: Aisling is the language of the previous colony and the current common language. African dialects are present, as well as English.
    c) What ethnic and racial group(s) are present in your nation?: Griemvarant is mostly of white European stock, with a mix of native black ethnicities and some Polynesian islander demographics.
    d) What are the major religion(s) among your population? Any notable minority religion(s)?: The only recognized and state-sanctioned religion is that of Hrosh worship. All others are tolerated but not protected and are not permitted to build houses of worship or hold public ceremonies. Small minority religions include Christianity, Buddhism, Taoism and Norse Paganism.
    e) Summarize your nation’s military (including the name, size [by personnel], strategic role(s), service branches, etc.): A small, technologically advanced and defensively oriented military with a compulsory period of service for all adults, the nation's armed forces would technically number at nearly the full population in the event of invasion. Their air force is weak and the navy relies upon the unwelcoming ice to keep potential enemies at bay, but the ground forces are elite and ruthless. The Griemvarantan Combat Engineers, known colloquially as the Tunnelers, are considered the best of the best. They serve as sappers, underminers, and flank-attack masters.
    f) Summarize your nation’s domestic politics (including political parties or factions, national/state/local relationships, political history, etc.): The basic domestic policy is to provide citizens with as much freedom as the government deems feasible. Private industry is encouraged although subject to inspection and regulation; local governments can feel stifled as their requests can often go ignored or be dismissed; and women's service in combat roles is forbidden.
    g) Summarize your nation’s economics (General political economy, notable imports/exports, any good/service you are self-sufficient on, international trade policy/ties, etc.): Griemvarant is mostly self-sufficient but fragile as a result, not producing much for export aside from rare-earth elements from the rich mountains. When bad winters are projected, the nation is forced to import nonperishables in order to keep the population from starving, and locals' diets often need to be adjusted according to the foods available in the year. A large portion of Griemvarant's income is in the form of tourism, with its stunning locales and charming national animals drawing crowds each year.

    5. IC Regional Dynamics
a)If asked to reduce the power and national strengths of your country, how would you do so? Griemvarant is not especially powerful but if necessary I could reduce their growing economic income from their new dinosaur exports and perhaps lower their military's preparedness.
    b) What role do you see your nation fulfilling within the region ICly?: A mostly quiet nation ready to provide new technology and exemplify the struggle between tradition and progress, as well as a ready source of RP hooks for military exercises, culture clash, religious debates and so forth.
    c) Neutrally discuss the strengths and weaknesses of your nation (esp. military, political, and economic) and how they may affect existing IC geopolitics: Politically, Griemvarant's greatest strength is its stability. At the local level elected representatives help shape policy, while at the highest level a consistent guiding hand prevents major cultural swings. Its weakness is the small number of Confederates and the method of succession. Economically, Griemvarant is mostly self-sufficient, but only just: it lacks too much economic clout and can't afford any trade embargoes or tariff wars. Militarily, all preparation goes into defense and the Griemvarantan military is unlikely to lose any defensive war, but they lack the resources or mobility to stage offensive actions.

    4. Proposed IC National Information (Continued)
    a) Summary of your nation (touching upon its history, culture, politics, society, geography, or other relevant phenomena):
Before the 1500s, the area that would become República Pequeñoya was a practically untouched forested coast only lightly settled by natives of the Taverian continent. In 1572, the first Aisling explorers arrived. These explorers determined that the area would make for an excellent landing point and port to support further expansion of the empire westward. Upon reporting this to the Aisling Kingdom, larger ships were launched in 1591 to bring in the men and materials needed to establish a small, functional port town.

As the first Aisling international port, Pequeñoya would have significant importance in the Aisling colonization of the Taveria and Ashizwe. As the Aisling Kingdom’s colonization efforts expanded, Pequeñoya saw constantly increasing naval traffic due to its geographical locating making it a “first and last stop” for ships ships coming from or returning to the Aisling homelands. Using the local forests for raw materials, the port town expanded from a single small dock to a proper port able to fully support Aisling line ships in 1644.

By the 1800s, Aisling colonization efforts began a decline. Furthermore, by this point in time the port in Leónidade was fully established and rivaled the facilities in Pequeñoya. With the speed and range of naval ships ever increasing, many ships were capable of making a final stop in Leónidade before returning to the Aisling mainland instead of Pequeñoya. Both of these factors combined meant that, for the first time since its founding, Pequeñoya saw a consistent decrease in naval traffic. As a port city, this decrease in naval traffic saw a similar decrease in economic stability and prospects. This situation would persist for the remainder of Pequeñoya’s time as an Aisling colony.

In 1958, taking advantage of the ongoing Fourth Peninsular War, several officers within the Pequeñoyan Territorial Defense Force launched a coup against the Aisling Empire. Over the next month, there would be intense fighting within the city as forces loyal to the Aisling Empire clashed with the newly formed Pequeñoyan Army, until stand-down orders came from the Aisling Homeland. In exchange for a guarantee of independence, remaining Aisling forces were allowed to be evacuated to assist in the Fourth Peninsular War. Several more months were spent with the city under martial law until a provisional government could be established. With the first elections occurring in 1959, República Pequeñoya was established as an independent city-state.

Free of the empire, República Pequeñoya would take advantage of the increasingly globalized world economy by reducing and simplifying its tax laws, especially corporate tax laws, in order to act as a tax haven for international entities. In addition, Pequeñoya could freely restructure its naval industry and port services to better support non-Aisling ships. As global trade increased, the economy of República Pequeñoya boomed for the first time in over a century. These policies would ensure the domination of the Soberanía Popular political party over Pequeñoyan politics into the modern era.

    b) What language(s) are spoken in your nation? Is there an official language? Other recognized languages?: Aisling, Trinovantan, Others TBD.
    c) What ethnic and racial group(s) are present in your nation?: TBD - Multi-racial
    d) What are the major religion(s) among your population? Any notable minority religion(s)?: TBD
    e) Summarize your nation’s military (including the name, size [by personnel], strategic role(s), service branches, etc.): The Forzas Armadas de República Pequeñoya consists of 76,900 active personnel distributed between the Exército República (ER), the Mariña República (MR) and the Exército de Aérea República (EAR). Its mission statement is "the protection of República Pequeñoya, her people, her territory, and her interests." Due to its conscription policies, the Armed Forces has a large pool of reservists (~1,000,000) that can be brought into service in emergency situations.
    f) Summarize your nation’s domestic politics (including political parties or factions, national/state/local relationships, political history, etc.): As a city-state, there is only a single unitary governing body consisting of the fixed 100 member Asemblea Xeral and the Oficina Executivo. The Asemblea Xeral acts as the legislative body of the government, with the Oficina Executivo acting as the executive body. Legislators of the Asemblea Xeral are appointed by popular vote in the district they respent. The Oficina Executivo is made up of a variable number of executive ministers who lead their own ministries and are led by the Primeiro Lexislador. These ministers (including the Primeiro Lexislador) are appointed by the Presidente, subject to approval by the Asemblea Xeral. This is the Presidente's principal power within the government, as most of the executive functions are handled by the executive ministers of the Oficina Executivo. Otherwise, the Presidente acts solely as a head of state with the Primeiro Lexislador acting as the head of government. Initially, the Presidente was appointed by vote in the Asemblea Xeral. This policy was changed in the mid-90s to make the Presidente appointed by a national popular vote.

Since becoming an independent state, the Soberanía Popular party has dominated national politics, making the government of Pequeñoya an effectively single-party entity since its founding as an independent state. While other parties do exist, none have ever managed to reduce the Soberanía Popular's share of the Legislature to less than 70% since the late 60s/early 70s. Because of this dominance over national politics, the in-built checks and balances between the legislative and executive branches of government are rarely used. One of the principal policies of the modern Soberanía Popular party is a staunch anti-corruption stance, as it attempts to prevent corporate and international corruption from impinging the open market economy of Pequeñoya. Soberanía Popular sees the current status quo as the most preferable state for República Pequeñoya.
    g) Summarize your nation’s economics (General political economy, notable imports/exports, any good/service you are self-sufficient on, international trade policy/ties, etc.): The economy of República Pequeñoya is a lax open-market economy that initially catered itself primarily towards shipping services and industries. In recent times, information technology and foreign direct investment have become its primary economic sectors, though shipping and trade are still a significant factor in modern Pequeñoya's economy. Principal exports consist of electronics and telecommunications equipment, pharmaceuticals, and industrial chemicals. Secondary exports include machinery, refined petroleum, and medical devices. As a city-state, Pequeñoya relies entirely on imported food and raw materials in order to function. Though it has advanced agrotechnology and biotechnology research sectors, Pequeñoya lacks the landmass to effectively use these technologies.

    5. IC Regional Dynamics
a)If asked to reduce the power and national strengths of your country, how would you do so? Reduced GDP/GDP Per Capita
    b) What role do you see your nation fulfilling within the region ICly?: A trade hub and tax haven for international corporations.
    c) Neutrally discuss the strengths and weaknesses of your nation (esp. military, political, and economic) and how they may affect existing IC geopolitics: República Pequeñoya's principal strengths lie in its economic policies and geographical location. Relatively lax corporate regulations, combined with a low corporate tax rate (15% maximum), make República Pequeñoya an alluring tax haven for international entities. Its location on the south-eastern tip of the Taveria continent is proximate to major shipping lanes, which ensure that the expansive ports are well trafficked. Its effectively single-party government results in a strong unity of governance with little in the way of internal infighting.

Its weaknesses come from the general lack of hard power and resources that naturally result from being a city-state.

Very old post saved up, short but sweet

    Central Yarura River Valley
    05:27
Hundreds of heavy boots vigorously stamped the mud in running succession with a pattering splash, soldier’s wheezing breaths worked at a high rate through the thick tropical humidity, fog had weaved through the air before their path. Mere spectres of men, approaching in dispersed formations before descending upon their foreseen enemy, said not a word, they’re demeanor hollow and focused down their path.

Finally, ahead of them was their target, an isolated outpost on the edge of the valley that sat atop a superior hill. It swooned from the rolling mist, negligent to its surroundings as no soldiers stood guard. The disguised soldiers, clad in deep green tropical camouflage, moved stealthily to their positions. A strike which had been planned for months was now presented to them. Automatic weapons fired at a dizzying rapid rate at a dangerously close range from seemingly all directions in the form of abrupt pops, kicking clouds of dust into the air as bullets struck walls. The helpless, poorly ragtag enemy scrambled in confusion but it was too late before the irregulars infiltrated their perimeter.

Many raised their hands high in the air, their rifles let go to a hard muddy thud in the ground. The prowling predators paid no attention to their proposition of surrender, unleashing a hail of lead upon any man and women in any form.

By the time more Pontuan soldiers were rounded up from hiding or retreating, the metallic scent of blood had permeated the air, cutting through the crisp Pontuan outdoors. Lined on their knees, with their hands bound, the young teens and adults trembled in a fit of fright. Some begged, but were quickly shut up by brute Talchali, a language of blunt consonants and sounds coming from the back of the throat, which hacked through the atmosphere with offense to the ears.

“Round up all the captives?” Qikol asked, approaching with an overtly masculine stride. “Right, behead the whores and lets get on.” he ordered after his men gave a nodding confirmation. Immediately, each irregular took a sharp machete, reared it back and threw it with blunt force towards the Pontuan’s necks. Each gasped desperately for air through the blood-gurgling wounds made in their necks, as their bodies stiffened with dying shock and squirmed to the ground.

“There’s another outpost several clicks north, we’ll move through the tunnels along the range.” Qikol explained to his awaiting subordinates. “Move out.”

    i) What is your ideal location on the regional map? (Please link an imgur or similarly generated claim, or just state the general region (e.g. "notEastern Europe") or closeness to an existing IC country (e.g. "East of Tarsas")
I’m for anywhere that fits, my concept is for a vast country stretching across a large savanna region with a tiny coast.

    4. Proposed IC National Information (Continued)
    a) Summary of your nation (touching upon its history, culture, politics, society, geography, or other relevant phenomena):
Masama, or Msama, meaning ‘Endless Sky’, is a vast country that stretches across the Daaji Plains. For generations the inhabitants of much of the area lived in serene transhumance, out-living the torrents of savanna empires which came and went. That was until the Msama Empire rose from the east, nestled in a modest river valley. Msama, which the country is named after, united all the local tribes and set-forth to expand his domain. The Empire carved out the ‘Gold Road’ - becoming a center for gold trade and the empire continually grew. However, the peak of imperial expansion came with industrialization, when Mansa Diawara sought to modernize the venerable rich, yet aging empire.

The new threats of conquest from all around, as well as deflation of the value of gold in the face of a globalizing economy under the banknote, incentivized this dramatic societal overhaul and expansion. Consequently, Mansa Diawara’s harsh rule, expansionism and vying for a more centralized empire created mounds of unrest and divided the empire even more. However, a new class was bubbling underneath the surface of this noble struggle. The workers, farmers and other commoners who had fought and toiled under the growing Empire had enough and open revolution ensued, ending with the brutal overthrowing of the last Mansa and the establishment of the Gudumarikin Federation, under a one-party Alasani government.

Gudumarikin are the common people, those who waged the Gudumarikin Uprising. In the new socialist constitution, the common working people and farmers are defined as having ultimate power through communal electorate assemblies across the country. From Masama’s socialist conception(early 20th century maybe) to 1979, the country was ruled by first a post-revolution junta, then authoritarian politburo. Varying uprisings were spurred by an attempted scourge of many party officials and this led to an internal political revolution and restructuring. The Gudumarikin Federation would survive off of the Sanjist Reforms, which would enlarge the original constitutional outlines of the revolution.

Masama is quite diverse, as the empire had spread to encompass a large area of plains in strategic footholds. Many ethnicities have been assimilated into the Masaman core, creating unique regional variations of common culture. Other ethnic groups are quite unique, but under active suppression. It's no secret many groups were starved out or forcefully re-educated in the past, though the modern government actively denies this.

    b) What language(s) are spoken in your nation? Is there an official language? Other recognized languages?: Hausa is the primary languages I’ll be using but I’ll be pulling from other sahelian west african sources too.
    c) What ethnic and racial group(s) are present in your nation?: Masama, then a dozen others that aren’t entirely relevant.
    d) What are the major religion(s) among your population? Any notable minority religion(s)?: Not sure, thinking of an indigenous religion.
    e) Summarize your nation’s military (including the name, size [by personnel], strategic role(s), service branches, etc.): 980k total. The army and airforce are the major focuses of Masama but it doesn’t necessarily slouch at navy either, but ofcourse its geography doesn’t constitute a prime navy.
    f) Summarize your nation’s domestic politics (including political parties or factions, national/state/local relationships, political history, etc.):
Central to the Gudumarikin government is the Revolutionary Council(generic commie names are maybe placeholders i dunno), an executive council of leaders who are elected by the Kala Assembly. The Kala Assembly itself is divided into several clans. The clans of Masama are workers caste which seek to represent themselves in the Kala, or elect representatives to. For example, the Masu Sana’a(Craftsmen), Sabis(Service), Ma’aikata(Factory). High positions in society, from technocrats, to the skills of a businessman, economist, scientist, etc, are tested into government service.
    g) Summarize your nation’s economics (General political economy, notable imports/exports, any good/service you are self-sufficient on, international trade policy/ties, etc.): Don’t have much thought on it atm and would love to continue to flesh it out, very resource rich I imagine, however limited logistically.

    5. IC Regional Dynamics
a)If asked to reduce the power and national strengths of your country, how would you do so? yes
    b) What role do you see your nation fulfilling within the region ICly?: i don’t know if there’s commies around but yes. Not going full evil-commie trope, Masama is successful and morally ambiguous to a degree, but definitely want some sort of tension if not ideological.
    c) Neutrally discuss the strengths and weaknesses of your nation (esp. military, political, and economic) and how they may affect existing IC geopolitics: decentralized planned economy has its strengths and weaknesses, Masama can’t commercially put much out there, but can mobilize rather quickly under emergencies to produce a hella bunch.
