New North Islington occupies five large asteroids at the Lagrange 5 Point, 60 degrees behind Earth in it's orbit. Of the three million square kilometres, barely a quater million have been made habitable using large crystal domes. A further hundred and forty thousand square kilometres have been irrigated for food production, a much valued alternative to vat grown food.

New North Islington has a working internal economy, mainly based on the production of luxury goods (food, wooden furnature) and Gambling. Energy comes from Helium-3 fusion reactors supplied by the government, and transport is entirely based on the vacumm train system. Cars and other private transport are completely banned.

New North Islington was founded in 1993 by the New North Islington Development Company with the intent of mining the asteroids that had collected in the Lagrange 5 point. The first colony ship landed in April 1994, bringing 1.3 million residents to the initial base construced in the Sea of Anticipation. The first city dome was erected in 1995 over the Sea of Anticipation, taking its name. The second city dome was errected only eight months later, followed by the fourth, fifth and sixth in December 1996. The second asteroid was settled in 1998 when the fourth colony ship arrived from Earth.

In November 1999, an explosion in Newport Dome #2 resulted in the death of 2.4 million people. Seperatist groups claimed responsibility and this caused a crackdown on extreme political groups. It also caused the founding of the first national park and the introduction of the first Dirigible Whale into the nations ecosystem. A small civil war followed, killing 8.1 million people.

New North Islington has a very small internal security force to suppliment the police force in times of national emercencies. There is also a disproprtionatly large naval force, made mainly of Icarus Tactical Space Weapons Platform units, large uncrewed satellites carrying mainly megawatt lasers and long range missiles, however close support railguns and crew modules are not unknown.

New North Islington is a representational democracy, however in times of crisis this is suspended and military order is imposed. This has been done three times, each time democracy was restored quickly after the end of hostilities.

New North Islington is a medium sized nation, but it is also growing quite rapidly.

Being a spacefaring nation, New North Islington does not have a realtime link to the main communication nets down on earth, however, they do have a full connection to them at a 10 minute time delay. Between 8 and 9 minutes for travel time and a further minute to ensure a constant delay.

1. No, or limited use of spaceships. Spaceplanes may be used, however, their use as a method of getting into space should be downplayed.
2. No lethal lasers. Non-lethal laser weapons exist, and the US Army own quite a few, they just make it feel like you are on fire (and do very well boiling water). This is the sort of lasers they have in MT RP's.
3. The ISN Skyward Eyes is generally used as a relay to an undisclosed location and Jacob Flemming has executive command of New North Islington's assets on Earth. Also, Jacob Flemming becomes part of the New North Islington Navy Remote Presence Unit (INRP) rather than the New North Islington Solar Navy Earth Presence Unit (ISNEP).
4. If anyone who can't know about New North Islington asks to go to New North Islington, they are told they can have a meeting set up with a diplomat of standing equal to their own, but that New North Islington has very tight borders. Jokes MAY be made about the borders being airtight.
