For my nation I simply insert it into the real world history instead of the traditional culture of where it is located. Anybody else does this and if so, what things are different because of your nation's existence and actions?

What area is your nation in and how different is it from the real world culture that would be there if not for your nation existing in it?

Interesting. In my nations universe, a North Korean government does not even exist. Kim Jung Un and his entire bloodline never grew to have any significant power and all of Korea is ruled by a complex hierarchy of royalty in which the Monarchy that Korea used to have in the real world still exists in some capacity. There is no Korean War at all given that my nation annexed all of Korea long before communism was even a twinkle in Karl Marx's eyes.

In its universe, Hatsunia is in place of Japan. It never engaged in cruel colonialist policies and was one of the Allied Powers in World War II (China had been taken over by the Blue Shirts Society and joined the Axis). The most "imperialist" action taken by the Hatsunese government was buying the Micronesian islands from Spain in the late 19th century (instead of Germany), but the native population was treated with fairness. Today, Hatsunia is a member of the Mutual East Asian Cooperation Union, which includes South China and (a united) Korea. Also, Hatsunia is more technologically cutting-edge compared to Japan.

We're still considered a world superpower, so the US still has competition. Terrorists would probably attack us more than OTL Russia. We'd also be very much more western-friendly and actually democratic, unlike Russia. There are also a lot more people under our wing, which means that countries that would suffer on their own would, more likely, prosper.

None of the famous Samurai wars that everybody knows and loves happens because of of a very well ingrained sense of uinty in my universe's japan. The Daimyo are completely subservient to the Emperor and are far less like the shogunates and Samurai lords of this world's past. All of the wars, betrayals, intrigues and grabs for power are avoided in my universe's Japan. These Samurai lords do not dare attempt a playing of power seizing against the Emperor.

Mathew Perry never attempts to intimidate either Japan or Korea in the 1800s like in the real timeline. There would be precious little to be gained by attempting to make the Japanese Empire in my timeline open up more trade via intimidation. The United States may be big and powerful, but so are we. In fact it might go pretty ugly for the U.S. to attempt a war against us.

Most of our citizens are (in order from most to least) in central america; seasteads (artificial islands) in the pacific; Moresnet/three country point in Europe between Belgium, Germany, and the Netherlands (its near Kelmis, Belgium); and space.
We are in the 2090s in a world where Russia, the USA, and Britain were involved in a nuclear war. Britain reverted to a more developing economy, Russia's boomed, and now Britain has little to no standing military. Britain and Russia are socialist allies, with Russia sending economic aid to Britain. Nuclear stockpiles greatly diminished in the two countries. KSD is a highly developed country, although developed after Russia's boom and passed Britain's recovery. Because of the high number of immigrants, esperanto is our lingua franca, and it has spread much. Vegetarianism was encouraged by the UN and because our use of esperanto lead to more rather idealistic immigrants, we had more support for vegetarianism and phased out meat. Nationalism increased for some countries (USA especially) but plummeted in many.

2014 ~ Riots in Kiev, Ukraine topple the corrupt government. A new one is established.
2014/15 ~ The Crimean peninsula votes to leave Ukraine and become part of the Russian Federation. This vote is not recognized by the Ukrainian government, but Crimea leaves anyway. Other areas of Eastern Ukraine declare their own peoples' republics (e.g. the Donetsk People's Republic), and these are backed by Russia. A civil war breaks out, with Russia backing the rebels, and the United States of America and NATO backing the Ukrainian government.
2015 ~ Troops begin to be deployed along the Russian border, from the Baltic to the Black Sea.
2016 ~ Eventually, NATO sends forces directly to combat the Ukrainian rebels. Russia, in response, sends troops to support the rebels.
2016/17 ~ Open conflict between the Russian Federation and NATO breaks out.
2022 ~ After five years of land warfare, both sides prepare for nuclear war.
2024 ~ The stalemate is broken. A malfunctioning US radar system detects Russian bombers headed inbound and the United States launches three nuclear missiles, for Volgograd, Saint Petersburg and Moscow. The Russians are able to intercept the ones bound for Moscow and Saint Petersburg, but Volgograd is hit and much of the city is destroyed.
2024 ~ In response, Russia sends missiles of its own to Washington DC, New York and Los Angeles.
M.A.D. occurs. Total nuclear war.
2026 ~ Both global superpowers collapse.

2026 ~ In the wake of nuclear war, the people of Russia, who were oppressed under the corrupt capitalist regime, rise up to reclaim their country.
2027 ~ The Russian people establish a provisional government, which mostly tackles the huge environmental and social problems left in the wake of the now collapsed Russian Federation.
2029 ~ The Russian Provisional government is dissolved, and is replaced by a fully functional democratic government. Due to the massive work it did to help the Russian people get back on their feet, and the huge popularity it gained after the purely Capitalist war, the Communist Party of Russia is voted into power, far ahead of any other party. They don't need to cling to power by eliminating 'rival parties', as over 90% of Russian citizens are completely happy with how the Communist Party is handling the huge job laid out before them.
2030 ~ The Russian Communist Republic is established

After the RCR (Russian Communist Republic) became an officially recognised state, many Western powers began to worry that the world would have a third Cold War. After what happened in the second half of the 20th century - The USSR and Warsaw Pact (Socialist) against the USA and NATO (Capitalist) - the rest of the world was bound to worry about a new, large Communist country springing up. It was perceived that this could cause a second nuclear war in less than 10 years. When the RCR joined the United Nations, many nations felt at ease once more. The RCR was, and still is, a peace-loving nation. The military is specifically used for the defense of Russian citizens. The military tries its very best to avoid unnecessary conflict, and ultimately, casualties. The RCR, however, does recognize that a nation cannot be secure in this day and age without a military.
The aftermath of nuclear war was horrendous. Much of the Russian Communist Republic's cities were in ruins, and a massive drive to rebuild was implemented. Now, seven years on, the country is finally prospering again. Unemployment rates were high, and the government acknowledged that, but plans are working well to get them down, and setting the Russian Communist Republic as a great nation again.

The Anglo-Russian Pact
It is hereby declared that The russian communist republic has signed an official agreement with The british socialist union regarding:
· A long-lasting Trade Partnership - as it currently has a large manufacturing sector (compared to the RCR), the BSU will have a large share in Russian imports, and in return, the RCR will supply financial support to what is at the moment, a developing nation.
· Military Protection - Due to the BSU still being a smaller, developing nation, the RCR will provide military support to the BSU in response to any threat to the British people. For example, if another nation was threatening war with the BSU, The Russian Communist Republic would be obliged to deploy up to 11,000 troops to Britain, as back up for the British Army.
· Closer Political Ties - Both the Russian and British governments will consult one another over issues that could potentially have international repercussions. They will also follow a similar form of Marxism-Leninism, and are obliged to keep to this model of Socialism. Both nations are encouraged to guide each other towards this, should one waver, or diverge from Marxist principles.
· The Formation of The International Socialist Alliance - As part of the Anglo-Russian Pact, the ISA will be created. This is in response to both nations' departure from Socialist Pact, and the necessity of being part of a region, in order to conduct international diplomacy outside of the Russian sphere of influence.
As well as this, the formation of a new region formalises the Anglo-Russian Pact.

I simply chose a location, and that location happened to be Japan. I looked up the history of who would attempt an invasion of it in our world, and allowed that to happen in mine. Except I figured THIS time, we strive for revenge. If the Mongol Empire wants to invade US, then it's only fair if WE invade them right back. The Japanese over the course of a rough century take over all the lands of the Mongol Empire. Coincidentally, that happens to include all of Korea. The Korean monarchy becomes subservient to the royal house of Japan. Because our nation does not fall into certain pitfalls that monarchies and Empires do, Monarchies and Empires aren't looked down upon as much as in the real world and that form of government is seen as viable instead of being seen as barbaric.

well if we were located where nepal is on earth, rather then some place geographically similar on lananara, the influence of our famed philoso-furs, would see much less hatred of logic among this planet's dominant cultures.

one big difference in nepal itself, would be the building of narrow gauge railways, one matching the gauge of the dhr from darjeeling, to kathmandu, and the other from past the other end, which now i can't remember the name of. and also the one rail line that does enter the country extended to join up with them.

visitors would be invited and encouraged to stay longer, while outside investors would not, and a much greater percentage of that nation's limited resources would be invested in practical stem education and support for startups, not entirely monetary based, to boost infrastructure independence.

with their intrinsic respect for natural environment, would remain our national priority.

we would not be a 'christian' nor 'islamic' country, but agnostic, taoist, indiginous, and perhaps buddhist, or even shintoist,
among our diversity of dominant beliefs, no single one of which, embraced by more then 1/3rd of our population.

i doubt very much that we'd embrace private ownership of land though, as we retain our nearly universal belief, that all species have the same right to it as do humans.

My universe is INCREDIBLY different. United States of America is USP (US of Pacifica) and my nation [Trinadaed] is basically a Cuba in the "Gulf of Mexico" or "Gulf of Trinadaed" in this case. Cancen is like a Canada with China's population. Lesser Antilles is located above my nation with Lesser Trinadaed and Liberdead, but Torago, the equivalent of Tobago, is incredibly close to the coast of USP. North America is named Pacifica.

Meanwhile in South America, it is united under the South American Union.

In Africa, 200 underdeveloped, tiny nations roam the location, 30 having civil wars.

In Asia, North Polia is taken over by Canila (China with Canada population), Jacan is more technologically advanced and took over South Polia. Russia still is the Soviet Union (The Socialist Alliance in this universe). Bangladesh is taken over by Papuadonesia, Himalayas (name of mountain range and country) and Boot are larger by 25 and 31 km in their left and right borders respectively. S.E Asia is no different but in names.

In Oceania, nothing but names have changed, but New Sealand is closer to Emuland and one tiny unclaimed island drifts in the Pacific above New Sealand.

In Europe, Belarus isn't part of the Socialist Alliance and took over the Baltic States (is called Bewalrus here). Balkan States except Greece are united in the form of Slavia, and Portugal is a part of Span. Irania is a part of Fronce with Northern Island being part of Northern Irania and the Faro Islands. Switz has Australa's panhandle, Polandia is slightly larger in the western border, and Gueece has what would be Chicken's European territory. Swoden and Nooway are one, while Shark-Finland has a long panhandle extending through Russia, ending just above Moscow. Romantly claims a small portion of Alugira and Tooniseia, and BELGIUM COME ON WATCH OUT!!!!!!!-wait, I mean, Holbelgum, has Netherlands and Luxembourg territory. Liechtenstein is smaller by 65 km and is named Luxemtensten.

The United States and Japan never go to war, Hiroshima and Nagasaki are never wiped out of existence. In fact, the race for nuclear arms is quite significantly slowed down and hampered seeing as there was no need to use it so far.

Luziyca is located in Esquarium: while we have the same technology as RL Earth as of 2018, our history and cultures are generally very different from RL equivalents, though Luziyca is still Christian, and despite being Slavic is essentially 'murica, if it had the spine of a jellyfish.

Fatatatutti is at the location of Hawaii but it has the size of Australia to accommodate the NS stats population. Yes, we do accept the NS stats.

We had a revolution against the white planters in the late 1800s so we never became an American colony - i.e. our culture has remained much more Polynesian.

The premise of Kroraine is that the Tarim Basin was never Turkicised by Uyghur and Kalmyk inmigration during the 7th-9th centuries, and instead a Tocharian language and culture persists into the modern day in Xinjiang. Xinjiang also becomes independent from China in 1992.

Anime is way different than the real world timelines and many genres and titles in anime never come to exist. Explicit materials of a certain unnamed sort never really become quite as crazy as in our real world timeline and certain.... nautical tropes in anime are never really brought into world infamy seeing as Japan under my timeline is a very sexually liberal place and there was never a ban on those kinds of material. (I think we all know what I mean by nautical)
