Welcome to Project Oxus!

Welcome to Oxus, a new project taken as a part of Aeia, an MT region. Despite its relatively recent conception as an idea, and its past failed iterations, Oxus has been designed to be bare bones so that players are free to modify and craft their galaxy and their histories as they wish. There's only one thing: This project is exclusive to Aeia, and as such, you need to at least join the discord before you sign-up. The majority of our construction takes place on Discord and iiwiki, and out administrator for this project is also the WA Delegate of Aeia, AESYRiEL.

Synopsis
Introduction
The history of the galaxy of Oxus is mysterious in its inception. Oxus belongs within the Chronos Cluster, but as to where it is within our observable universe is unknown. From the planets with the scorching suns beating their desert dunes to the ice planets not even catching a breath of warmth, Oxus is a diverse galaxy, filled with odd pomp and circumstances in some parts of the galaxy and others, the absolute state of war. From magical creatures to the glorious revolution of the people to sea peoples, the poetic view of diversity within Oxus is only combatted by the However, the story of Oxus begins with the race of the Poslato and the Poslato Catalyst.


Poslato
The Poslato are the originator of space travel, known as the Poslato Catalyst. The Poslato come from Polati Prime, as a mammalian species, and are the originators of space travel. The Poslato was known as the most advanced civilization within Oxus and propagated ballistic weaponry and their own technology for wormhole stabilization technology. Wormhole stabilization technology specifically allowed a wormhole to generate to another system or to a piece of empty space and can be entered back and forth. The majority of the system-traveling technology that remains around Oxus is outdated, dating around 2 Millennia Poslato's Catalyst.

This technology allowed for the Poslato to expand to the outer reaches of Oxus, and focused on the systems surrounding Polati Prime. This became what is known as the Poslato Empire, where other races and planets were under Poslato rule, and suffered from Poslato invasions. From humans to Qeldari, they reached the majority of the galaxy, before the Poslato Empire broke. Shattered into factions, before the Qeldari Revolution and the Second Poslato Wars, the uniting revolutionaries and factions fought the shrinking remnants of the Poslato Empire, squeezing it further and further, before the Poslato barricaded them from the rest of the galaxy with the destruction of the Ludovican System from the destruction of the Poslato Wormhole stabilization generator, showing off the true power of their generators.


Technology
Technology sits at the grasp of your fingertips. Space travel technology remains a mystery with the Poslato holding their secrets of fully functional wormhole stabilization within Polati Prime. From bullets in space to the thoughts of a man destroying an entire army, all of this possible at the stroke of a pen. Is magic possible? Maybe! Has warp travel been perfected? Not yet but could be! Can I terraform my planets? Absolutely! But like any technological wonder, it needs its drawbacks, and what it's being placed over. For every positive, there is a negative, and every advancement a drawback.

Right here you'll find the application to apply for a nation within Oxus. Please note that to join Oxus, you must at the very minimum be within Aeia's Discord. No specific rules other than using common sense, and feel free to DM me on Discord should any problems or inquiries arise.

Strengths: The Racial Diversity allows for an array of different people within the land army. Qeldari focuses on the development of their land army over their space army, with the majority of species having designated roles. In addition, genetic experimentation has taken place with the Ossarians in order to increase muscle mass and to increase bloodthirst and violent behavior. In addition, genetic modification of certain phenotypes of the Donovari has begun, in order to increase average recorded speed of the Dovonari, as well as to emphasize certain genes within the Donovari to make certain phenotypes, such as the orange Dovonari which are normally given special armor to increase their abilities. Their land army is equipped with magnetic weaponry, however, expeditionary forces are normally equipped with ballistic armor.

The Qel and the other races have a particularly close bond forged through the Second Poslato War felt only through the unity in their rebellion with the Poslato, and as such lack a lot of problems with the Qel. The Ludovican are not as related to other races besides the Qel, as the Ludovicans view Qel as the saviors of their race. The Dovonari and the Ossarians share a racial bond signified by their language.
Weaknesses: Qeldari space technology is somewhat sub-par, using a smaller caliber of bullets and less impactful missiles. While they use their magnetic weaponry on their fighters, all major weaponry and armaments on large cruisers and battleships are mainly ballistic based weapons.
Political Leanings: Liberal, very lightly leans towards xenophilia and openness.

History (Factbook, iiwiki or Brief Description): The Qeldari originate from before the Poslato, originating as one of Poslato's subjugates. The country is dominated by the Qel, from the planet of Qeldari. The country was subjugated by Poslato early on in the Poslato's Empire's lifespan, listed as the Core Systems that were close to Polati Prime. The Qel were treated as second-class citizens, and what is known as the First Poslato Revolt between the Poslato and the Qel ended up in the declared autonomy of Qeldari after the annihilation of the majority of Qel Rebelling Forces. The Qel continued to act with some form of freedom, however, looked to jump back at their full independence. When the Poslato Empire fractured into bickering feudal lords, the Qeldari launched a rebellion sometime later, after the start of the Second Poslato War. The Second Poslato War, between the Imperial Duumvirate, was soon assisted by the Qeldarian Confederate Rebellion, leading to the shrinking of the Poslato Empire, before it subsequently collapsed at the Battle of the Ludovican System, after the destruction of the Ludovican System with the detonation of the Ludovican wormhole stabilization generator. The subsequent fallout led to the remaining Ludovicans to retreat to Qeldari, starting the already expanding Galactic Qeldarian Empire which joined forces with the Ossarians, Dovonari, Raphi'aa, and the Kolopaski.

Strengths: The Imperial Duumverate is one of the longest-lived civilizations remaining in Oxus, and one with success to almost rival the Poslato themselves. They remain on the cutting edge of technology, both in terms of military and economy. Their interstellar fleet is galactic-class and one of the finest in the Oxus Cluster, as it is one of the largest, most well-funded and most technologically advanced.

Weaknesses: The Duumverate however has several glaring weaknesses, their government and military is rife with overlapping departments and inefficient bureaucracy. With three completely independent military wings, military organization and cooperation becomes difficult, and different ship designs and tactics make the separate fleets difficult to standardize equipment and materiel for. The Duumverate also has a lesser priority on its ground warfare wing, and although well-maintained and technologically advanced, it often has a heavy tactical reliance on space dominance.

The Vaadwek and Dra'almarr both tend to be less densely populated, resulting in a relatively low population compared to their total number of inhabitable planets. The limited population is largely counteracted with automation, but a limited pool of total manpower is largely more of a hindrance than a benefit.

Strengths: The Union is the burning heart of Intersiderialist Collectivism and the the largest human separatist state yet. Her armies are well trained and vast, her fleets endless, and her industry advanced and heavy. The nature of Collectivist ideology has drawn many different races to the Union - either entire nations or defectors from reactionary states - all of which have added their own unique abilities and traits to the URCS' arsenal.

Weaknesses: Most aspects of the Union are geared towards simpleness; military equipment is simple and practical, industrial machines utilitarian and easily repairable. The same, however, cannot be said for the government. The all-encompassing Collectivist state is a maze of Directorates, Commissariats, central Collectives, local Collectives, sub-Collectives and offices. A running joke among the Union's citizens is that even the most intelligent and experienced of the ancient Polsato court nobles, and even Emperor's, could be capable of making sense of it. The extensive bureaucracy surrounding the state and the Party more often that not hampers the efficiency of the Union in most areas, from military operations to decisions made by a city's sub-Collective.

On the military spectrum, the URCS's armies, while more than capable by human standards, lack the technological sophistication some of alien armies, and rely on overwhelming firepower and numbers when facing them, which several times has proven to be just not enough. While effective and easy to manufacture, Collectivist weaponry is relatively crude and is mostly conventional.

Strengths: The primary strength of the Technate is technology. The Vaxsan nation is obsessed and saturated with it in equal measure, from nanite enhanced construction method, to the prevalence of cybernetic implants. It is very rare to meet an unaugmented Vaxsan, due in no small part to the fact that most such implants are offered for free by various employers and other entities. Amongst their technological accomplishments however none stands out more than the Transfer, a process by which a person's consciousness is transplanted from their biological body into an artificial one, essentially rendering them immortal; in some cases the Transfer also allows a single consciousness to control multiple bodies independently at once (See Weaknesses for caveats). Secondary to the Transfer but perhaps more impactful on the overall power of the Technate are the advanced manufacturing capabilities at their disposal. The Vaxsans have succeeded in creating devices which are able to manipulate matter down to the atomic level, meaning that provided the device has the correct raw materials it can produce almost anything; these machines cannot alter atomic makeup higher, meaning that they must have the correct elements and isotopes as raw materials, they cannot make something out of nothing.

Weaknesses: The main weakness of the Technate is their low population and declining birth rates. As a combination of technological ascendancy and the Transfer make the average Vaxsan lifespan much longer and more comfortable there is no longer a need or desire to procreate; furthermore Vaxsans are not a naturally versatile species and without significant technological augmentations they can only flourish under certain circumstances. This means that many worlds which would be habitable by other races, such as desert worlds or jungle worlds, are inhospitable to say the least; even terraforming does not necessarily help because their 'sweet spot' for habvitability is down to solar conditions and planetary distance from its parent star. The Vaxsan species were almost made for augmentation with cybernetics, however without said enhancements they are generally weaker and slower than the average human with a shorter lifespan, thus they rely upon cybernetics and technological augmentation. The Transfer is an example of this reliance, however it is a very expensive process with varying results - some people Transfer normally into an artificial body, others lose their personality, only a very rare few are capable of reaching the full potential of the Transfer, controlling multiple bodies independently.

Information (Optional): The Vaxsans shown in the picture are Mature but have not yet undergone the Final Change.
  • Vaxsans are a humanoid species native to Vaxsas. They have an average height of 5'10" for males and 5'9" for females.
  • The average lifespan is between 120 and 150 years. For the most part they look like humans with a similar variation in skin, hair, and eye tone and young Vaxsans (up to about the age of thirty) are often hard to tell apart from humans with the exception of their tapered ears.
  • Vaxsans are typically thin and have less potential to build up muscle mass than humans.
  • Between the ages of 10 and 15 solar years Vaxsans enter their First Puberty during which time their bodies change from those of children to those of adults and they become fertile; the Vaxsan First Puberty is comparable with human puberty.
  • At about the age of 30 Vaxsans go through a Second Puberty during which their bodies alter rapidly, it is during this time that their appearance diverges significantly from that of humans. A mature Vaxsan typically looks like an extremely weathered human with large sharp teeth (in some cases even protruding tusks), hard clawlike nails, and certain ethnicities boast horns of varying size and shape.
  • At about the age of 100 their bodies undergo a further rapid change, the Final Change, in appearance which eventually leaves them looking withered, gaunt, and pale, looking almost ghostlike.
  • Each successive change hardens a Vaxsan's bones and skin, with the skin of a Vaxsan who has undergone the Final Change being comparable to treated leather.
  • Due to the physical changes brought on by Second Puberty and the Final Change most Vaxsans opt to have their appearance altered significantly by artificial means and even have who sections of their body replaced with various augments. As a result of the prevalence of artificial body alteration for practical and cosmetic purposes many Vaxsans do not conform to the norm, retaining only their humanoid shape.

  • Vaxsans are a humanoid species native to Vaxsas. They have an average height of 5'10" for males and 5'9" for females.
  • The average lifespan is between 120 and 150 years. For the most part they look like humans with a similar variation in skin, hair, and eye tone and young Vaxsans (up to about the age of thirty) are often hard to tell apart from humans with the exception of their tapered ears.
  • Vaxsans are typically thin and have less potential to build up muscle mass than humans.
  • Between the ages of 10 and 15 solar years Vaxsans enter their First Puberty during which time their bodies change from those of children to those of adults and they become fertile; the Vaxsan First Puberty is comparable with human puberty.
  • At about the age of 30 Vaxsans go through a Second Puberty during which their bodies alter rapidly, it is during this time that their appearance diverges significantly from that of humans. A mature Vaxsan typically looks like an extremely weathered human with large sharp teeth (in some cases even protruding tusks), hard clawlike nails, and certain ethnicities boast horns of varying size and shape.
  • At about the age of 100 their bodies undergo a further rapid change, the Final Change, in appearance which eventually leaves them looking withered, gaunt, and pale, looking almost ghostlike.
  • Each successive change hardens a Vaxsan's bones and skin, with the skin of a Vaxsan who has undergone the Final Change being comparable to treated leather.
  • Due to the physical changes brought on by Second Puberty and the Final Change most Vaxsans opt to have their appearance altered significantly by artificial means and even have who sections of their body replaced with various augments. As a result of the prevalence of artificial body alteration for practical and cosmetic purposes many Vaxsans do not conform to the norm, retaining only their humanoid shape.
